Rik considered what she said for a moment, savoring the informantion she gave him. His eyebrows shot up when she asked him about meeting another broken. "Broken? Is that what we're called? Hmm.. No I have not. You're the first." He said. So he was a broken. Well that answered one of many questions for him. As well as it opened up a bunch more questions. He rubbed his gruffy jaw, it had been a couple of weeks since he had a shave. He was interested more now about his powers and being a broken than he had been when he first found out about his powers. "This is a lot to take in. Do you know anymore brokens?" He asked, not thinking that he should stop asking so many questions. He finally found someone to answer some questions that had been plaguing him from the he woke in that Vault.

.Peaches&Lemons. 10-22-2010 05:54 AM

The large man shrugged, "Well, she's been in Molly's room I think." He said, waving a hand, "At least that's where she said she'd sleep tonight. Just if you go looking for her at some point." He didn't seem to have much to say after that and with a small wave to Sevastian he headed for the living room to lay on the cushions there.

As Grant had thought Sarah had been sleeping in the corner of Molly's room all day, only waking when someone came or went. When Diva came though she dredged up enough of her energy to drag herself from the floor, sighing heavily and laying a hand on the other girl's arm as she stood to leave, going into Diva's room, having no actual room of her own. Diva, out of everyone Grant had taken in, was the only other person excepting Grant himself, that Sarah could tolerate for any length of time. Diva, unlike the rest but similar to Grant, never seemed to try to force a response out of her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lilly held her head in her hands as she yawned, shaking her head, "Yesm we're called broken because something in us broke and turned us into something else. If you've never been here before then it's no onder you've never met another. This city has the larges number of broken out of all in the world." After his newest question she rubbed her face, "I'll likely still be here tomorrow, you know?" She commented before deciding to answer him, "I've seen many broken but I only know one enough to have his name.. Well two now." After a yawn, "If you let me go to sleep I'll answer your questions tomorrow."
Kiwi_x_Pop 10-22-2010 07:03 AM
Rik shrugged a bit, seeing that she was getting annoyed with him. "Sorry, this is all new to me. And yea, this is my first time here." He said. He pulled out his sleeping blankets and arranged them on the floor. "I think it would be best if we slept in the same area. Safer that way." He said. He really didn't want to lose track of her, who knows if she'd really stick around in the morning. He couldn't risk letting her get away from him when he's just now getting some answers. He settled into his makeshift bed, using his pack as a pillow. "Well, I guess this is goodnight." He said, trying hard not to ask her anymore questions.
.Peaches&Lemons. 10-23-2010 01:15 AM
((I'm passing to the next day. If anyone disagrees let me know and I'll edit accordingly.))
"I understand." Lilly replied as she backed up to lean against the wall to sleep leaning against it. "Good night."
In the morning she woke, as she often did, to find herself partially stuck to the wall and after some stressing of the thickened frost that held her she was able to stand and work the knots out of her back and neck. As she promised, despite her stomach's urging otherwise, she stayed to wait for Rik to wake and answer all of his questions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Just as the horizon was starting so suggest the sunrise Grant woke as if on a timer. Every day he woke at exactly the same time no matter how much or little sleep he'd had. He wasn't noisy as he stretched and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Less noisy as he stood and calmly went through his normal morning routine. Once he was well awake he woke Richard and Trent but waited until they were more awake and Richard had grown some fruit before he went in to wake Molly.

"Morning." He said cheerily from the doorway of her room. He didn't face the room long as he heard shuffling and saw a black tangle of hair slowly bob away from him, "Morning Sarah." He said before turning back to Molly's room.

Kiwi_x_Pop 10-23-2010 03:36 AM

Rik woke as he always did in a new place. He would lay there for a moment, his eyes still closed and listened to the noises around him. From the sound of it, Lilly was awake and having some troubles with her skin. He rose from his bed, stretching his arms and legs as he often did. "Mornin', you been awake long?" He asked as he twisted his torso left and right. His golden blonde hair was a mess atop his head, his face grubby and gruffy. His clothes were wrinkled from the night's sleep, but he had an air of freshness about him.

.Peaches&Lemons. 10-23-2010 06:15 AM

"About fifteen minutes." Lilly answered as she brushed the edges of the thick frost from her clothes and back, "Another five minutes and you'd have woken up alone." she said as she walked from the room, leaving her pack still on the floor as a sign she meant to come right back. Indeed after a few moments she did come back and settled on the floor again, "Alright. As I promised, I'll answer your questions." she was being kind, she could've asked for something in return but made no such suggestion.

PhantasmicAnomaly 10-23-2010 04:04 PM

"Mmmm." Diva said in acknowledgement to Grant's thoughts on where the younger girl could be. She never liked to bother Sarah unless it was for something important, knowing that the girl liked it better to do things at her own pace. Every movement seemed to take a lot out of Sarah, and besides that, Diva had observed what happened when one pushed Sarah too far. It was a little intimidating and left an uncomfortable feeling in Diva's chest; she had never been one for such confrontation. She preferred it when everyone was getting along and got upset when there was an argument that escalated into a screaming match. Of course, she would stand up for her convictions, but her body language made it quite clear she'd rather be doing something else.

Passing by Molly's room, she heard a distinctive sigh and soon felt a hand being placed on her arm. Looking down, for Diva's height made it so very few surpassed her (and very rarely was it another woman), she gave a smile at the person she had just been talking about. Sarah didn't have a room of her own and that meant she would sleep in whoever's room she wanted; not that Diva minded. It was nice, especially when the temperatures dropped, and any added warmth was appreciated.

"Evening, Sarah." She said in greeting, "Thanks for the vision that I would get back okay."

Her thanks given, she fell silent as she kept in step with Sarah, waiting until Sarah found where she wanted to sleep before giving the girl one of her two blankets. The other one found itself tossed around Diva's shoulders as she laid down and curled up into a ball, using her arms as a pillow. She didn't even bother taking off her boots because of the wave of drowsiness that overtook her. After a few days of lying on rocky terrain, the old mattress felt heavenly, and soon took the girl off into a dreamless sleep.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The sounds of footsteps, the muffled banging of cupboard doors and voices, woke up a groggy Diva. Uncurling herself from her position, for she hadn't moved all night, she stretched out to relieve herself of kinks that had settled into her muscles. With one last crack as she worked her neck, she rose from her mattress and went about getting ready for the day. True, she'd probably would have liked to get more sleep, but nothing going to bed early tonight couldn't cure. Soon refreshed, and not smelling like who-knew-what, she left her hair loose and padded her now boot-less feet to the kitchen where the action was.

"Good morning, everyone." She said as she grabbed a piece of fruit and sat at the table. Some might have thought that having so much fruit all the time would be boring, but they clearly had never had any that Richard had grown. There was always a variety and the taste was beyond compare. Plus, who could get picky when food could be scarce? Every time one had a meal was a blessing.

Kiwi_x_Pop 10-24-2010 09:22 PM

Rik sat down, pulling his pack into his lap. He pulled out some rations he had been collecting. It was a can that was suppose to be fruit or something. He hoped it was good and he didn't get swidled. He would go back to where he had gotten it and give that man a good shock. He smirked to himself at the thought and opened the can with a rusty knife he had with him. He was pleased to find that the fruit was still good. He took some peaches and plopped them in his mouth. He offered Lilly some as he chewed the pieces in his mouth. He shallowed and wiped his mouth witht he back of his dirty fingerless gloves. "So who is this other broken you know?" He asked her, waiting.

.:GaelicBubble:. 10-25-2010 12:29 AM

Molly's eyes snapped open when Grant came to her door. She didn't move however she just stared at her ceiling as she tried to let her eyes adjust. After a few minutes, Molly rolled out of bed and changed into an outfit better suited for the day. She silently walked out of the room, bandages in hand, and headed to the kitchen.

THe bombardment of colors used to instantly give her a migraine and almost make her puke, but now she was a little more used to the mass of colors, although if she looked too long a headache would happen. After noticing that all the seats at the table were taken, Molly quietly sat down on the cushions in the loving room. She wasn't one for breakfast, then again she never really ate at all. She always throws it up when a migraine hits.

.Peaches&Lemons. 10-29-2010 05:42 AM

((I apologize for not getting to this sooner.))

After he made sure Molly was awake Grant went back to his seat at the table with a content sigh, watching his students go about their morning routine. All, including Sarah who sat on the floor beside Trent's chair, looked up when Diva came in and chimed their various morning greetings, "Thanks for saving those seeds for me." Richard spluttered around a newly taken bite of peach.

The three's attentions were immediately drawn down to Sarah as she spoke up, "Don't trust the man with the yellow fruits." She looked up at Grant, nodding, her nearly glowing eyes large until he agreed to do so. Only then did she get up to leave, too many people in the room now for her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lilly watched him eat almost jealously, "I shouldn't eat canned things, they stick to my fingers like a normal's tongue to a pole in the middle of winter." She said, shrugging as she took a couple for herself. She nearly choked on the bite she'd had a moment later, "Um, usually it's not a good idea to reveal other broken for what they are but he's with Grant so his name is Trent. No one quite understands what his powers are but they're highly destructive when he loses his temper because he blacks out and can't control them."
.:GaelicBubble:. 11-01-2010 01:54 AM
Molly didn't understand what Sara meant when she left the room. She looked back at the mass of colors in the kitchen and closed her eyes as the throbbing started. She pulled her knees up and put her face down on her knees as she listened to the conversations in the other room. She sighed. There was no way she was going to be able to talk to Trent before they left. There were too many people around.
________________
Drake scratched his bare chest as he walked down the street enjoying the morning sun. He had only been in the city for a few days, and he hadn't managed to meet another with abilities like he had. When he had left home he had hoped he would find others like him, but no luck yet. Hie green eyes sparkled as he stepped into a puddle and he watched the water sizzle around his foot. He never got tired of the cool thing he could do , he just wished his abilities didnt have so many downsides.
He walked by a building and over heard a few voices talking. "...No one quite understands what his powers..." the female voice said.
Drake smiled. They had to be talking about others like himself. Drake took off running up the wooden stairs that led to the upper floor. He had to keep his feet moving of the wood beneath him would ignite. When he finally got to the door at the top of the stairs he threw it open and paused.
Sitting on the floor was a beautiful girl with frosty skin and long dark hair. Across from her was a guy with messy blond hair and freckles across his face. Drake knew that these two were like him, he could just tell.
"Uh...Hi." He said with a lopsided smile before realizing the door next to him was close to igniting.
Kiwi_x_Pop 11-02-2010 04:37 AM
Rik watched her eat the peaches. "Makes sense. Next time I'll give you the jerky." He said with a smile. He wondered about this Trent and Grant fellows. Trent sounded like he was pretty powerful. He wanted to ask more, but she seemed to be annoyed with him when he asked. "So are you headed there? Can I tag along with you?" He asked. He was kind of tired of traveling alone. He was starting to lose his sanity. He watched for her reaction, hoping she'd agree to let him tag along.
.Peaches&Lemons. 11-02-2010 04:51 AM
Grant sat back in his chair, lounging easily as he thought about Sarah's words, "I wonder if she means lemons or bananas." He mused aloud, staring up at the ceiling then glancing around the room. "We'll be leaving soon." He told Trent and Richard as they both finished their breakfasts and they both nodded to get changed into some better clothing.
He glanced at Molly before smiling, "Hey, when we come back for lunch you can come out to town with us. You need to wait until after lunch though. Give yourself a rest."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lilly listened to Rik but before she could respond the door was flung open causing her to jump in reaction and instinctively grab the bucket of water, flinging it at him as she froze it. Only after the ice was flying toward them did she realize it was another broken. "Sor-" she started before the ice melted and she noted the state of the door. With a frown she straightened up and crossed her arms, "A heater." she grumbled with a sigh before deciding to ignore him and answer Rik, "I'm trying to prove myself worthy in front of Grant so hopefully he'll take me in. You can certainly tag along if you want. I don't like to talk much but company is welcome." She shrugged, "Maybe I'll keep my voice more easily." She said, her voice wasn't back to it's smooth quality yet but it was a lot better than it'd been before.

.:GaelicBubble:. 11-03-2010 12:22 AM

Molly looked up at Grant's color and smiled. "Really?" she didn't wait for an answer, before she got to her feet and walked to the kitchen. She ignore the pain throbbing in her temples. "What do you guys want for lunch? I'll have it ready so we can eat and then go." her smile faded when she was forced to lean on the table next to Trent for support.

Drake noticed the door and moved away from it so it could cool down. But he had to keep his feet moving so he didn't burn through the floor.
"So was i right? you two are like me?" he asked hopefully as he paced the floor. With him in the room the temperature began to rise and Drake,s necklace was glowing a bright red as he chewed on his lip, a nervous habit.

PhantasmicAnomaly 11-03-2010 01:29 AM

"No problem, Richard. Anything for my favorite plant-wielder." Diva grinned, taking a piece of fruit for herself and biting into it. For the next few minutes, she listened quietly as the others spoke; first, it was Sarah speaking about a man with yellow fruits, Grant muse about what the yellow fruit might be before speaking to the other two males that they needed to get ready to leave. There was even a promise to Molly about going into town in the afternoon.

Another bite into the fruit showed a face completely intent on the thought process going on inside her head. What should she do today? Molly always kept the home clean and was the main cook of the household. She could help, but it seemed that Molly was suffering from another of her migraines, so D.J. didn't want to exacerbate it.

"Guess I'll go on a scavenger hunt." She mused aloud. It was normally how she spent her time when she wasn't on a scouting mission. Even with the fruit that Richard so kindly provided, they needed things to trade for in town. Water was always one of the first things they'd get; otherwise, it was finding the odds and ends that they either needed or liked. D.J. was pretty good at finding material that was of value for the shops in town, "I'll try and find something before your town trip...if that's alright with you, Grant. There's nothing I need to do around here, is there?"

Kiwi_x_Pop 11-03-2010 01:51 AM

Rik looked at the intruder. He was moving around alot, leaving burn marks onto the ground. "I don't talk much either, so I think we'll be fine." He said, not taking his eyes off the stranger. "Who are you?" Rik asked, ignoring the kid's question. The hairs on the back have his neck stood up, his body beginning to generate the electerical needed to cause his lighting. He didn't like the way the new guy barged in on them. Rik was always wary, ever since that incident when he first woke up.

Rik held himself in place, pulling his pack close to him. "What do you mean, like you?" Rik asked, wondering if he was one of the broken as Lilly mentioned.

.:GaelicBubble:. 11-03-2010 02:00 AM

"oh, my name is Drake." he gave them a lopsided smile. "I'd shake your hand dude, but I don't want to hurt you." he held up his hands showing them red palms. "although, I could probably shake your hand." he looked down at the girl seated on the floor.
Drake watched as sparks jumped around the guys hands. "I'm not going to hurt you intentially, dude. I was just trying to find someone else like me." drake looked at them and hoped they wouldn't shun him like all the others he had tried speaking too had.

.Peaches&Lemons. 11-03-2010 02:46 AM

Grant glanced at Molly, "Anything you can find would be great. We plan on bringing back some meat this time." He watched as she leaned on the table before frowning slightly, "You can sit you know. Trent is gone." He pointed out, thinking that she might have not noticed. He tried to let her be independent but seeing someone suffering was his main weakness and whether or not they wanted help he'd still offer help.

When Diva spoke he thought a second before shaking his head, "No, not at the moment but I need you to drag Sarah out for a walk later. You and I are the only ones she'll tolerate dragging her outside and I'll be gone all day." A pause, "She's going to be cranky about it but she tends to get more and more sluggish the longer she sits in the dark."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lilly nodded to Rik's reply but waited patiently for the newcomer's answer but once she got it and he spoke of touching her she glared, hiding her hands, "Forget it. I don't let people touch me until I get to know them. Especially people like you. Not even a handshake. I'm cold sure but last time I got hurt." She scooted away from him, the frost on her skin beginning to thin out from the heat in the room, "He's a broken." She answered Rik's question though it hadn't been directed at her. "The call broken like me freezers, broken like you sparkers, and broken like him," She motioned to Drake, "heaters."
PhantasmicAnomaly 11-03-2010 03:16 AM
"I can do that, no problem." D.J. said amicably, though now she had to wonder how to get Sarah to come out of the room. Sarah wasn't fit to go scouring across the wasteland looking for various trading trinkets, but D.J. had hoped to have some things for the four to have when they went into town. She wasn't too keen on entering the town, normally having a large hat on or flattening her bangs to hide the worst of her abnormal eyes. It wasn't that the people living in town were outright hostile, they were actually very tolerable (especially when Grant was around), but she hated the staring. There was always that flicker of fear that struck D.J. to her very core.
"I'll take her out when you all go to town. That way, Molly will be with her in the morning and with me in the afternoon." She looked over at Molly for any sign of affirmation, such as a nod of the head or twitch of the lips. Hey, the younger girl was blind--well not really blind, but more in the technical sense of sight--not deaf.
"In that case, I'll head out right now so I'll be back around noon." D.J. said, pulling her loose hair back into a braid. Getting up from her chair, she left for her room and grabbed her knapsack. It held a couple days worth of food and water, just in case she was unable to return right away, a switchblade, flint, and some basic first aid equipment. The majority of the knapsack was empty for the sole purpose of carrying back whatever she found. Donning a bandanna around her neck, sunglasses on her head, and some fingerless gloves, she went to find Sarah. Finally finding her in Molly's room, she gave a rap on the frame of the entryway before speaking,
"Hey, Sarah. I'm going to be going out to see if I can find anything for trade." She said, knowing Sarah was listening even if she wasn't showing it, "In the afternoon, I hope we can go outside for a little bit; the others'll be going to town. I'll be back at lunch, so I'll see you then."
Her little speech done, which was probably like a sermon to the other woman, D.J. entered into the kitchen where she had left everyone, "Alright, I'm off. I'll see you at lunch."
Placing the sunglasses over her eyes, she pushed the bandanna up to that it covered her face from the nose down. The wasteland could do a number on your throat if you didn't have something to shield your airways and D.J. had only had to experience it once when she had become a Broken to know she didn't want to feel that way again. Giving a little wave, she turned on her heel and went out the door, knapsack slung over one shoulder as she made her way into what was considered dangerous territory. It was suicidal for a normal human to go out there by themselves, but at least as a Broken she had a much better chance.
.:GaelicBubble:. 11-03-2010 01:03 PM
Molly sat down, annoyed that she didn't see the empty chair first, but grateful that Grant had pointed it out. Finally not being able to stand it anymore, Molly wrapped the bandages around her eyes but kept looking in Grant's direction. "So what are we doing out in town today? anything special?" Despite her aching head, Molly was excited to be able to go out to town. it had been a while since she last went that far out of the house. She couldn't hide the smile of excitement on her face. Maybe she would finally be able to prove herself to Grant that she wasn't totally useless.
________________________________
Drake stared dumbly as the girl spoke. "They have a name for people like me?" He was totally clueless. He wished he could sit down and learn more, but Drake knew that that would end badly for everyone. He couldn't help but frown when he saw the girl shift away. In the back of his mind, he was hoping that they could be friends, she was probably the only person in the wold that he could touch with out hurting. Too bad she didn't seem all that friendly.
Kiwi_x_Pop 11-03-2010 01:23 PM
Rik shook his hands out, sparks shaking off as he did. They kid was either a really good actor, or he really was clueless. "You gotta forgive me, I was just being careful." He said, standing. He didn't know there was names for types like them. He was a sparker, huh? He thought with a smirk. He understood's Lily's lack of trust and her unwillingness to allow him touch her, she had to keep people at arm's length. He threw his pack on, still wary about either of them touching it. He was growing tired of being supsious of everyone, but he had learned a hard lesson so long ago.
"A heater, huh?" Rik said, trying to break the tension that was building. The kid seemed a little hurt that they weren't all that friendly, espeically Lily. Rik watched the two, wondering how it came to be that he not only found one but two others that were like him. Well, kind of like him. They had powers like him, just different. He could touch people still, unless he was charged up. He had nightmares sometimes about the little girl he was trying to save, only to be the one to kill her. He shoved the thought from his head, it wasn't a time to think about that. "So how do you prove yourself to get accepted by this Grant fellow?" Rik asked Lily.
.Peaches&Lemons. 11-03-2010 03:14 PM
Grant watched as Diva left, hearing a dull flump! from Molly's room as Sarah dropped herself on a pile of fabric. He didn't let the noise distract him as he smiled, "Yes, we're going to see if anyone has any clothes up for grabs for all the girls." clothes small enough for women and girls were hard to find, fabrics light enough not to drag them down were even harder to find, "It's high time you had extras." he waved as Richard came back out before continuing, "You're a little bigger than Sarah so we can assume what fits on you will fit on her and have to make sure the fabric isn't bad quality. You might not be able to see the patterns but you still need to like it." He glanced at Trent then back, "We have Trent to compare to Diva since they're about the same height."
"And when the crowd starts to thin I'd like to know if you can find a few of the new raiders."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lilly continued to watch Drake as she stood, her clothes beginning to dampen as the frost melted. She had always hated how the frost clung to her and how cold her skin was but now she felt exposed without it and looked at her hands distastefully. The unnatural blueish tone of her skin looked terrible without the thin layer.

"Im starting to melt." she commented broadly, as she felt a drop of water running down the arm nearest Drake, they were having a conflict of powers in such a confined space and she was beginning to wish they'd go outside where her frost could recover. To Rik she said, "We have to take down an infected on our own and make sure he sees."

.:GaelicBubble:. 11-03-2010 04:41 PM

Molly smiled, she could use some new clothes but that wasn't what she was excited about. She was excited to be able to help grant. She owed him alot. While she was on her own she barely managed to scrape by. She could ind the infected and stay away from them, she even managed to kill one on her own once, it was one that had tried to attack grant the day they met. He hadnt seen it coming, and before it saw her, Molly smashed it's head in with her bat. That was when grant found out about her gift or curse as she saw it. Ever since then she had lived with him but she never had a second chance to prove her usefulness. Well here it was, she was going to get her chance later today.
"is there anyone specific I am looking for?" she asked as she turned her head at the sound of Trent's footsteps as he reentered the room. Molly smiled, she couldn't wait to test out her abilities.

__________________________________

A frown formed on Drake's face when he heard her complain. "we could go outside so I stop melting you, and so I don burn a hole through the floor. Drake hoped the other two would like his idea and not just ask him to leave. He had been alone for so long, he didn't want to have to leave now that he found others like himself. He played with his glowing necklace nervously. "I'm sorry I'm messing with you." he said in he girls direction. "if I could stop I would but I can't." he sighed.

.Peaches&Lemons. 11-03-2010 06:12 PM

Grant shrugged, "Well they're breaking into houses and stealing from people while they're gone. Is there a specific 'color' for that?" He asked, standing as the two males went to the door to wait for him. He needed to get going very soon if he was going to get most of what he wanted done before he had to start back after lunch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lilly agreed quickly, shaking the small amount of water off onto the floor, "Just my thoughts exactly." She replied, motioning him out the door as she took a couple steps to follow, glancing back at Rik. "This isn't our home anyway so we shouldn't destroy it if we can help it." She added moments later. His apology made her wrinkle her nose, her eyes squinting, "Don't be. It happens. I'm just not keen on exposing my skin. I'll look stupid if I do." She didn't tell him she used to wonder what it'd feel like to have the frost and ice melt. And she didn't tell him it was his fault she'd decided she didn't like it. It was stupid to feel naked when she wore adequate and ample clothing. She just didn't want to look stupid, standing there in soaking clothes and pale blue skin like she'd rolled in a giant barrel of blueberries and been dumped over the head with a bucked of water.
.:GaelicBubble:. 11-03-2010 06:30 PM
"not really a color, just a fluctuation." Molly said as she heard grant get to his feet. She heard the boys feet by the door and knew that they were itching to leave. "well good luck guys, I'll be here when you get back." she sighed and propped her head up on he table as she listened to them leave.
Drake led the way outside to the ground where he didn't have to worry abou catching anything on fire. His foot sizzled as he stepped in a puddle. He moved to avoid the sound. When the girl and boy met him outside he noticed her wet clothing. "at least you only look wet, I can't even wear normal clothing." he scratched the scar across his chest and sighed. "so what are your names anyway?" he asked bluntly. He wasn't sure where to start, he'd finally found others like himself, but they didn't really seem to know what to do either. He ran a hand through his short hair and plopped down to a seat on he dirt, he couldn't use normal chairs so he had gotten used to sitting on the ground. He looked up at the others wondering just who this grant guy was they kept talking about, was he like them?
