Léan spent just a few minutes away, before he returned with two good-sized tuna. Their scales had been stripped off...their bones, tugged out, along with their organs. All that was left was meat...he held his hands out, unsure of where he wanted to put the fish.

"All right...this is just what you want."

"Ummm yeah... thank you." Adam left the seaweed on his towel them move to grab the fish. But unlike let time he took them a little slower and nicer from him, then slowly backed up. He moved back to his towel and wonder if he could start a fire but there was nothing to start one with. "I guess I have to eat them raw..." Well its better then not eating." He said to him self then wrapped one of them in a seaweed. Soon he tried a bite of his tuna seaweed wrap his face did not show like but he was still eating it. "Ummm soo where am I..? All I remember was being on a beach hearing the signal to get off the beach a storm was coming then being knock out by some thing," Adam was thinking to make small talk as he try choking down the raw fish.

Léan leaned against the rock for support, his tail lifting slightly out of the water. He had fan-like fins...elegant, transparent. Almost like the webbing between the toes of frogs, or ducks.

"The sky bled water. The sea rose, and swallowed the land above. I believe you humans refer to such a storm as a 'hurricane?' Or a 'typhoon?'" Léan's odd way of talking surely wasn't missed. He had been taught to speak formal English...flowery, sometimes puzzling English.

"So did I just wash up on to the sand bar... or did you bring me here?" Adam wondered those he could have guess the storm went he was caught in. "So how do I get back home?" He asked the merperson. He was choking down the fish and seaweed sandwich he made. His tummy was glad food was in it even if it was not what he wanted to eat. "if you did save me thank you once more. Your a very help merperson... but I'm not sure why your doing any of this."

"I carried you here," Léan answered, quietly. "While I am not fond of humans...I could not simply allow you to drown. I would not have been able to take the guilt, knowing that I was the cause of the death of another intelligent being."

He shifted, uncomfortably. He wasn't used to speaking with humans...and his informal speech was a bit puzzling to decode. He had a feeling his more formal speech was odd to the human.

He had to think for a bit about the 'getting back home' comment. "...Unfortunately...I do not keep track of where I am going, while I am caught in a terrible storm," he murmured, lowering his eyes. "If you know which direction to go...by all means, tell me...or, give me the name of a general area, and I can take you back to land..."

"Well I was on an island for a school field trip but I can't...." He tried to remember the name of the island then he tried to remember where he was from. He just could not do it, he could not even remember the names of his family or friends. "I can't remember..." He didn't understand why he could not remember but he guess it was because he was knocked around a lot in the storm... "Ummm... do you know any names of the islands around here?"

"Not the human names, no. We merpeople have different names for human islands...the only names we corroborate on with humans...are the names of the seas, and the larger oceans," Léan explained, quietly. He had a feeling that until Adam could remember everything clearly, the two of them would be stuck out here.

He did not know why he felt the need to help this human. It was an odd thing for him, since he had always hated humankind...

"Oh then.... which island has the most people, and is there away to see what island got hit the hardest from the storm... maybe there rescue crews there that will help." He didn't know he just know he wanted to go home but he didn't know where home was. Or if it even was a good place for him to go. But he knew he hated the water. "Is there any other island would more land then this sand bar?" He asked the merperson.

"...None that I would be comfortable getting within a hundred feet of," Léan replied, apologetically. "I am afraid that if you want to get back without some sort of watercraft, or something to cling to...I cannot get you very close to any human-populated island. I can certainly take you...but you would have to swim a good distance back. I...I cannot risk being seen."

Adam blinked. "This could be a problem then, because I can't swim... I don't even like the water..... I hate the idea of this trip but my grade in school depend on it... now I'm out in the middle of this place on a sandbar surrounded by water. With a merperson. Not to be rude but I most have hit my head hard to be seeing one... I mean your not suppose to be really...."

Léan listened to him, absently. He seemed to enjoy Adam's babbling...it appeared that he didn't often talk to other people, in general. It was sad to think about...but...painfully true. "I assure you that I'm perfectly real. Otherwise, you would not be able to touch me."

He held out his arm, as if inviting him to see if he was really real or not.

"Well..." He moved closer slowly and touch the merperson. He was wet to the touch from the water but felt like a human on the top. "But your fins..... I mean... how... Why don't we knew about merperson..... I mean really know about you. Are there a lot of you? Or few... Why keep us from learning about you?"

Léan flinched a bit, upon being touched. But, he didn't move away...and his expression didn't waver--neither did his will. "On a general scale, humans are terrible creatures. Selfish, self-serving creatures. What do you think would happen if they discovered another intelligent species?"

He gave him a few moments of silence to contemplate that before going on. "The most intelligent guess...is that they would imprison us. Treat us as inferior beings. Because, of course, humans believe they are the only sentient beings in this world, and that they are far above all other creatures. Look at how you decimate large populations of animals...endanger them...drive them to extinction. Yet when another creature kills a human, it is mutiny, and that creature must die..."

"Weird way of putting it mutiny" Adam smirked. "I guess but then again there are the anime right people and the list of danger animal we protect.... I know human can be terrible to the world and animals around them but some are nice plus there a lot we could learn from each other. I mean think about it you can go places we can't. There so many scientists that study the oceans to actually be able to talk to some one who know them first hand that a rare thing. Or all of our stuff that lost at sea maybe we could get them back by paying you to be rescuers of our ships and things. Like the treasures."

"We do not want diplomatic relations with you," Léan emphasized, hollowly. "We experimented with that many years ago. It does not work out very well...you humans catch us in your nets, and you kill or imprison us. I, myself, do not want to be known about...I am afraid of what will be done with me."

His eyes hollowed out a bit. "My mother was pulled up by a human net when I was very small. We never saw her again."

"Oh... I see..... Ummm well ummm. I wonder what going on why this is... I mean it would be great knowing about you guys.. but but..." he sighed. "I do not know what to say to what happened. But you really want to stay hidden then?" He sighed. "But its the massive knew not just the rich and people who can make a buck off of any thing. But the massive knew then people could not hunt you again. Then you would be safe."

"Do not be so naïve," Léan retorted, flatly. "Humans are not all positive creatures. I don't want to be known...I don't want to be well-known, at all. I want to live my life without interference. Humans think all other creatures are inferior to them. I know they do."

"Well without you I would be dead. So I don't think I could think that why now if I tried too." Adam smiled to the merperson. "Those I'm still getting used to the hold idea your real and I'm not dead or hurt day dreaming this whole event. Adam was not sure what to make of everything happening those if he really was alive and well due to a merperson then he thank him. Plus keep his secret seeing as he did not want to be knew. "Oh and thank you again for saving me."

"You are welcome." Léan lowered his eyes. "If you had companions back on land, they probably think you are dead," he added, morbidly. "If you want to be rescued in any way...you should get back to land in the next day or so. Which means...you are going to have to swim some of the way. I apologize, but I am not going to get close to a populated island."

"But I can't swim.... I never learned how because I'm scared of the water." Adam stated sadly then looked down at his fish wrap as he finished it off. The moved to eat the second on. He was to be saved and go home but he could not swim at all so even a short way he would not make it alone.

"I can attempt to teach you how to swim...though I am not quite sure how you humans do it. I believe it requires movement of the legs? Erm...kicking?" Léan suggested, scratching his head absently. He could attempt to teach him...but...he wasn't sure if that would go over well.

"But.......but I don't even want to be in the water.. I don't like it...." Adam sighed looking at his second fish wrap not sure what to do now. "But if I have to be on land in a few days that not enough time to teach me how to swim any ways.... But I'm not dead even if they think I am but I have to get home some how."

"Unless you flag down a passing boat, then, there is no way you are getting to a populated island without doing some of the swimming yourself," Léan murmured, apologetically. He didn't want to be sighted...he didn't want humans knowing about him.

Adam sight. "How am I going get home now..." He sighed and curved up on his sandbar with his towel fish wrap and seaweed around him and started to cry. He wanted to go home but there was no way he could swim out on his own.

Léan hated it when people cried. Crying was something he just couldn't stand. It seemed like a useless waste of energy to him. "Oh, now, cut it out," he muttered, semi-sharply. "I offered to teach you how to swim. You refused. There is nothing to fear about the water right now...I am here to help if something goes wrong. I can teach you..."
