Léan nodded, looking down. He did not like the idea of permanently living in a tank, but... "I could stay and visit if you had a tank, still. Maybe not stay in it permanently, but sleepovers would be possible," he quipped, pointedly. He squeezed Adam's hand and then nodded, awkwardly leaning in to accept the offered kiss. "Good luck."
He released his hold on the sled, dipping underneath the ship and clinging to a protrusion beneath it. He was keeping an eye on the sled--he could see it. |
Adam started to scream as loud as he could. "HELP!!!! HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!!!! I NEED HELP!!!! SAVE MEEE!!!!" Adam scream trying to get some one on the ship attention. He was acting scared on the top of the water but Lean could tell he was calm under it. Seeing as his legs where kicking at a good easy pace with out him really freaking out like Lean had seen so many times before. Adam would make this work out with Lean some how they could find a way to be together with out being apart for to long.
Just than when his mind was lost in thought and he stop screaming the ship was lowering a life boat and people where moving over to where Adam was floating on his sled. They lift him and the sled up because he won't let go of it. The people wrapped him in a towel and blankets to get him warm. "Thank you thank you I don't know what I would have done without you. The people look over at Adam who look like a mess to them. "How you get all the way out here?" One of the people asked Adam. "And what is your name." Adam just cuddled in to the blankets. "My name Adam, I was on the beach of an island when the big storm hit over amonth ago. I wash up on a island and well I tried to swim back to the island where I first was out. But I spot the ship and had to try to get on it so I could go home." One of the other on the small boat blinked. "You mean your one of the students that got wash out in to water during that nasty hurrcan?" Adam just nodded. "Please help me get back home..." |
Once Léan started hearing voices speaking, he moved towards the side of the ship and stayed near the surface, listening closely to the conversation happening above him. Merpeople had an excellent sense of hearing, especially when they were underwater.
He was listening just in case there was a chance that Adam was going to get hurt. He had not mentioned anything to Adam...but he knew there was a chance that after he told them what had happened, with him being washed out to sea and everyone thinking he was dead, that the crew might end up harming him. He would keep up this listening vigil all day and night. Naturally, he wouldn't get much sleep... |
The first man rubbed the kid back. "So what your last night so we can call your parents on the ship phone."
"Adam Brown" He said and looked over at the ship as they near it to pull the life boat up. Soon he was being lift from the ship. The man nodded. "Well as soon as we get you on to the shipment we will send word to your family your still alive." Adam smiled happily. "Thank you sir.:" |
Léan stayed below the boat all day. There was no way he was going to let himself be seen by these other humans. There was a reason he hated humankind. He didn't want to associate with more humans than he had to...
In general, they were selfish, awful creatures. |
Adam was given a room and he was free to roam around the ship for the rest of the day. Some one on the ship gave him real cloth to wear a nice pair of shorts and a tee shirt. He was even given shoes too, Adam could nto waite to show his boyfriend what he look like now that he was all clean up and no longer smelled of the salt water. Adam went to the kitchen and order two fresh fish raw. The cook looked at him oddly but perpared the fish raw for him. Adam took it to his room and place it in the mini frig for later. He got a map of his home and made sure the water would not destory it. He had mark it well where he would wait for his boyfriend if they got slip apart. He waited until it was late at night before he took the map and fish and place them in a back pack. He started sneaking around the boat for a ladder that could be put over the side so he could climb down. Once he know it was clear he climb down to the water on the ladder even those he was scream of falling in. He whispered. "Lean...?"
|
"Yes?"
Léan was directly at the side of the boat, half-underwater. He was clinging to the side of it for dear life. He had found a small hole underneath the boat where he could sleep at night, but he hadn't gone to it yet. He was too concerned about what was going on on the ship. He smelled the fish, even though they were concealed. He was obviously hungry. |
"Well its not good for the water but I didn't want it leaking on my clothes I put the fish in a plastic bag. You can give the bag back tomorrow and I'll toss it away." He smiled happy to see his love was safe and was near him. Adam held on to the ladder with one arms cling to it and his feet both on the ladder then got the bag with the fish and map in it. "I found a map of my home town and it should not get wet. I mark the spot I'll go ever night to wait for you if we get spilt up." He moved the bag down so that Lean could reach it from him. "You doing ok? I miss being in your arms already."
|
"I'm fine." Léan took the offered map and fish--he dug in at once and pulled the fish out to eat. He was ravenous. He had not yet tried catching fish while keeping up with the boat. He was frightened that in the end, he would lose the boat...
He studied the map rather closely and didn't say anything for a few seconds while he squinted and tried to memorize it. "...All right, I believe I understand this map," he revealed, contently. |
Adam smiled looking at his love softly. "I wish I could spend more time with you but if some one see you I'm afarid what would happened." Adam clug to the ladder and looked down to boyfriend. "I hope its a good enough map because its all I could find that could go in water without ripping apart." Adam eyes wander back up to the top of the ladder. "Lean can you hear any one near the top of the ladder so I could go up without being seeing?"
|
Léan focused for a long moment, straining his ears to hear if anything was moving on the deck. When he heard nothing, he smiled at Adam. "Go on up. No one is there. ...If you have your own room, lock your door once you get back in. Though they may seem friendly, there may be people on the crew who have bad intentions."
He had to get some sleep. Though he wanted to watch out for Adam all night long, it was not beneficial to his health. |
"I promise I'll lock my door when I get to my room. I'll see you tomorrow night." Adam looked over his boyfriend and smiled seem he would be home and have his boyfriend what more could he want. "I'll try to find out tomorrow how far away we are from land so we know." He wanted to get on to land again and be home just so he could held his love again. He had not each been part from him a full day and he wanted to be held by him once more. "Good night you sleep tight those what about your singing....?" He paused before he moved up the ladder. "Will people hear it where your hiding?"
|
"All right. Good night, Adam. I'm...going to try my best not to sing. If you hear me singing, make a racket so that I'll wake up..." Léan warned, looking concerned. "The singing of sirens has been known to unintentionally lure sailors to their deaths...it distracts them from their duties, and they crash into things..."
|
"I'll try love but you know I'll try to get close to you" He smiled. "I love you sleep tighly." He started to head up the ladder really not wanting to leave his boyfriend but having to. He pulled the ladder back up and place it back on the deck where it was and headed to his room and locked the door like his boyfriend wanted. Those before Lean could sleep he heard a few shadyer men talking on the side of the boat. "Soon the ship will be here and we can finshed our mission. The childern on this boat will fetch a good price on the black market and the rest we have bleed dry." the other laughed. "We'll be rich for sure after this score."
|
Léan was just about to doze off when he heard that little exchange. They were close enough to where he was that he could hear them clearly. His ears twitched a few times and he was immediately jolted out of sleep. He pulled himself out from under the ship and peered around underwater, ahead and aside of the boat. He was thinking quickly.
...There was nothing that could get in the way...it should be safe... The merman poked his head out above the water, just slightly, and let his mouth fall open. He began to sing, working his vocal magic on the crew. If he was thinking correctly, all these aforementioned children would be locked in their rooms...unable to get out. Only Adam would know what was going on...the crew members would not be so lucky. The children would be just as entranced, but wouldn't be able to get out of their rooms. The crew members would try to get closer to the sound of the singing. This was how sirens drowned people. |
It wasn't all the crew just a few men who sold out this ship to a pirate ship that would reach the ship before it hit land fall next. Adam could hear his lover song but this was different then before. It was more controlled he could feel that. What was causing his love to sing out like that. Some thing had to have happened and Adam need to fine out why. But if he left his room Lean could be mad at him. He had told him to keep his door locked after all. Adam decided to look out side of the pot open window of his room hoping to see Lean to know what had happened.
|
Léan continued to sing, just barely visible off the side of the boat. He had not purposely tried to lure humans in in, well...a long time. So he was rusty. The most he could make them do was stop in their tracks. The entire boat stopped...whoever was steering stopped doing so to listen.
He began to weave words into his singing...English words. Usually when sirens laced words into their singing, humans tended to follow orders, clumsily but blindly. ~We must head to a safe place. To a safe-er place we race. Go off course if you need...a safe-er place is where we need to be. Quick-ly, quick-ly...we must hur-ry.~ If the crew came to a halt at the nearest possible island, which was most likely off of their original course, then he would be able to help Adam. And, possibly, anyone else who was in danger. |
Adam could hear those words a ~safer place~. What had happened to make Lean want to move them off to another area. Those it was nice to be able to listen to Lean beautiful song with out remembering his actions. He know he had to get to a safe point if his lover was doing this so he barricade the door he won't came out until Lean got a message it was ok. He open his portal hole window and looked out more. But he could not see his love and sighed he just had no idea what was going on right now.
|
To Léan's relief, the ship made a somewhat sharp turn to the right and began to head towards a smaller tropical island that looked populated. It was one that had been hit hard by the storm so many weeks ago...but it was populated. He continued to sing as the boat approached shore...he would make them think they were going to crash into it. The chance to eat and relax was something he hoped the crew wouldn't pass up.
|
As he looked out of the window he could see an island in nearing them. Were they going to crash in to it Adam was so worried about that. His heart raced in fear seeing it near them. He whisper out his window. "Lean... Lean what going on... I'm scared."
|
Léan continued to sing until the crew was dangerously close to the island. At that moment, his singing stopped short and he dipped down underneath the boat. He had the boat to hide him so close to land, so for the first time in a while, he wasn't afraid to approach a populated island...
He waited for the crew to stop the ship and assess what had happened. |
Soon Adam could no longer hear his lover voice and the ship had stop. Adam gave a sigh of relief that they were not going to crash. He walk over to the bed in the room and lay down on it and clung to a pillow pretending it was Lean. He sighed. "I don't understand what going on Lean..." He sighed and cried a little but soon he found him self fast a sleep on the soft fluffy bed.
|
Léan listened to the crew speculate over what had happened and debate over what to do. Seeing as they were already technically docked, most of the crew voted, in a single vote, to stay and spend the night resting here. It was a small tourist area. Which meant...there would be a way for Adam to contact his family.
He was sure that the sailors would sleep late tomorrow. They had, after all, most likely been out at sea and getting little sleep for a while, now. He settled down to rest until morning...he would wait for Adam to wake up. |
Adam got up he looked around the warm room and cuddled in to the bedding a little before getting up and taking a long shower. Once done he got dress and smiled in the new clothes they gave him. It felt nice to wear clothes again that were not swimming shorts or leaves he found. He ate his fill at the dinning area and got fish for Lean for later. Adam saw people exiting the ship to get on land and decide to do that as well. There was a phone he could use and he was able to call his mom and dad. Who were shock at hear his voice.
"Mom Yes its me its no joke I was save just been living on an island that was recursed on a cruise ship. I will be home soon some how. I mean the ship called The Queens Rose Liner. It should be porting an out three hours from our house in the south." He gave his family the direction to the landing point. Then went back on to the ship to wait for night fall. When no one was watching he went to the rope ladder he used before and walk down it with the fishes for Lean. "Lean.... Lean....." he whisper not wanting other to hear because of how close to the land they were. |
Léan had been dozing off, half-asleep and half-awake, when he heard Adam calling him. He roused himself, somewhat unwillingly, out of sleep and dropped off of the small indentation he'd found in the bottom of the ship to sleep in. He swam along towards the side of the ship and poked his head up above the water, looking concerned.
He told Adam exactly what he had heard some of the crew members talking about...he didn't know exactly what to do other than risk his safety and swim alongside the ship with Adam by his side. He knew it was safer to stay with the boat, but he didn't want Adam getting hurt. |
