It took a bit for Adam to stop crying because he really was up set and being told to stop or cut it out wasn't helping him stop any. He just wanted to go home and his fear of the water was over wheleming him. Even if it was a merperson willing to teach him he was still terrifed of the water.

Léan had a feeling that any way he offered his assistance, the human would find some way to combat it, make it out of the question. So, he sighed, surrendering for now, and simply allowed the young man to think on his own. He did not say anything.

He was tempted to dip back underwater and rest for a bit in the nest he'd made, out of one of the rock surface's caverns.

Adam was trying hard to dry his tears and stop crying for the merperson. Then out of the blue he looked to the merperson. "Can you live on land or go on it?" He asked seeing if he could make since of why he was so up. Trying to explain it in a way the merperson could understand his fear.

"As a matter of fact, I can spend about a week on land without touching water," Léan replied, smoothly. "I have stayed on land before. Injuries are usually what drive me to land...blood in the water means sharks will swarm, and I cannot afford to be in the water while I am hurt. Even if it is just a bruise...better safe than sorry."

"Well that back fired..." He said sadly. "I'm trying to explain how scare I am of being in the water... Its a place I don't belong and.... I don't know how to explain it.... Its there terrifying feeling that over whelms me." Adam lower his hand. "I don't want to die in the water and if it wasn't for you last night I would have..."

"If you let me teach you how to swim, you won't die..." Léan huffed, idly. "Stop being so stubborn. Unless you want to be stuck out here on this sandbar for the rest of your life, I suggest we get down to teaching you how to swim properly..."

He didn't want to be stuck looking after this human for the rest of his life, after all.

"I'm not being stubborn I'm scared." Adam said and he looked over at the merperson. He wanted to go home badly but could not unless he could swim. This was not a fun spot to be in for him. Adam slowly moved closer to the merperson. "But its soo deep I can't see the bottom of it." He look over the side to see if he could see where the water ended.

"That is because you are far out at sea. The land is not in sight," Léan reminded him, arching a pale eyebrow. "There's no need to be scared, seeing as I won't allow you to drown. So...go for it. When will you get this chance again? Never. So take advantage of it."

Adam griped on to the shore of the sand bar and slowly easy in to the cold water clinging to the sand bar for dear life not ready to let go of it. "I'm still scared... " He looked to the merperson not sure what to do next now that he was actually inside of the water. It was his arms keeping him floating there or else he would be sinking in to the water right now.

"Try to float," Léan suggested, seeming amused by his fear--it was only natural for a merperson to feel like that. He leaned back where he was, and floated easily on the surface of the water. It seemed like he was balancing his weight equally.

When Adam let go of the sand bar he started to sink and he was starting to thrash around in the water trying to get back on to the sand bar. He didn't like this feeling his heart race and his legs moved wildly jus tlike his arms. Adam was trying now to keep his head above the water but it was not working for him.

Léan sucked up his dislike for humans, rather grudgingly, and ducked below him, in the water. He dodged his thrashing legs and then slid underneath him, tilting him over onto his back in the water and helping him learn the proper way to float. He wasn't going to tolerate such a senseless fear, especially while he was around...

Soon Adam was on his back with the merperson guildness. Adam's whole body was shaking and it was hard to keep floating on his back. After a while he calmed down and just laid on top of the water floating on his own power. He was scared to move from this pose those. "Ummm.... ok.... this... Ummm ok I did it...."

Léan dipped back under him again, and slid his arms around his torso. He helped Adam to float in a vertical way, so that his feet were kicking beneath him and keeping him up in the water easily. Merpeople, in families and among friends, did not mind touching each other in such ways--it was considered a casual touch. So, he had no idea that humans weren't so close with each other in that sense...

"Hey HEy HEY" He blinked being touched and moved like this. "Slow down, to fast, way to fast, not ready for this... Slow down." Adam was mildly freaking out. One from being grabbed and touch like that and two for going in to the next step with out a so much as a warning. Adam was still scaried of the water so the merperson he hope would catch on to that and slow down a little. "Ummm... your hands..... your..." He blushes a little because even if he was casual to the merperson it was a little personal to him.

"The longer it takes me to teach you, the longer you will be stuck out here on this sandbar," Léan reminded him, frowning. "...My hands?" he added, puzzled. He stared at where he had his hands, wrapped around Adam's waist and resting just below his chest. It was a simple way to keep him balanced vertically in the water. "I do not understand what the problem is...here. Move your feet to keep yourself afloat, in a fluid motion.

"That maybe be true... but I'm still scaried..." Then he felt the hands still on him as he tried to kick his feet like the merperson wanted him to. "I'm not used to be touch there..." He said as his hand was shaking trying to keep him above the water while he feet where clumsy kicking below him. They were not straight and going in different motions.

Léan nodded, understanding his trepidation. But, he kept his hands in place, so that he could better help him balance. "Fluid motions. Synchronized. Move them like this..."

He stuck his tail out to the side, where Adam could see, and moved it back and forth in even strokes, up and down. Repeating that action with his legs would help him float...and once Léan felt he was ready, he would let him go.

Adam tried to kick his legs like how the merperson used his tail. He was slowly and shakly doing it. This was taking the human longer to understand then one would think normally. He finally got it well enough that he felt the merperson hands leave him. As he was now able to kick on his own but he was really tried. His whole body was tried from all of fighting the water because he fought so much it worn on his body. This made him a little too tried to keep on kicking well enough to stay a float.

Léan noticed that he was getting tired, and he gently nudged him back towards the sandbar. "Perhaps you should get some rest?" he suggested, quietly. He was sure that the sandbar was, for the moment, the only place he could rest for now. "...Or...if you want to get off the sandbar...there is a small, unpopulated island nearby I could take you to for the time being. You could get some more food...but watch out for dangerous animals."

"Dangerous animals? What kind?" Adam climb sleepy back on to the sandbar and wrap his towel around him. He yawned and thought about going to that island maybe he could find a warmer place to sleep. He picked up his fish wrap and finshed it off so he did not waste it. "Your about the think bad of me again. But I don't know how to hunt for my own food or know what foods in the wild are good to eat. I never had to do any of that back home."

"You could live off of what I know is safe. If you make a...erm...a fire...you could...cook? I think it is cook...you could cook the fish," Léan offered, sympathetically. "Dangerous animals as in...poisonous ones. There are some wild cats living on that island as well that might be dangerous. As long as you stay close to the water, things should be fine."

He yawned. "Okay lets go there, umm later... My towel is dry now so if I go to sleep here I'll be warm. If we go to the island now my towel will be wet and I'll get cold. But if I rest then we go I can hang my towel to dry and by night time it will be all warm again." He smiled. "But thank you for offering your knowledge of knowing what to eat, I like that. I think on the island I could fine some thing to help me make a fire so your right I could cook." He wonder about the island "Is there warm places to sleep on the island?"

Léan's tail flicked back and forth underwater, in a curious, inquisitive sort of way. "All right. I will take a nap, as well...if you need me, call for me..." Once he was sure Adam was settled, he slid back underwater, to his cave. He was tuckered out after his little fear-fight with the human, and needed to rest.

Adam nodded and waved to the merperson. "Thank you again night." Adam looked around the sand bar trying to make a comfy place for him. He moved some sand around for a pillow then pulled his towel around him and tucked himself in. He put his hands on the sand bump he made and closes his eyes. He was so tried from fighting in the water sleep came easily to him.
