Medieval Fantasy | Private Role Play
~Blood was rushing through my veins, and my head grew light from the breathes I took. My legs were stiffening up from the run and my arms were tired from holding my skirt up enough to move. But my fatigue was the last thing on my mind. I rushed through the golden corridors trying to get to the right room. I was starting to get dizzy from the light reflecting off the perfectly polished floors, but the only thing that mattered was that I delivered the news. I had finally reached the heart of the castle. Forgetting the necessary courtesy of knocking, I pushed open two large oak doors into a study. "My lord!" I pushed out between my gasps. A tall and fair grey haired man stood in front of the fireplace. Out of pure shock, he was unsure of how to react at the slave that had just barged in. "My lord." I repeated "Your holy kingdom is under attack."~ Welcome! This is a private medieval fantasy role play. In any case that I need another player, it will be I who requests or approves of one. The situate themselves spread out across the land to avoid conflict. However, as much as they try, conflict can not be completely avoided. In this world, humans are situated in the middle, having the elves east of them, the faes west of them, the ogres north of them and the mermaids south of them. The elves are forest dwelling creatures. They live in small villages in the forest, and are non-violent. Elves are able to manipulate the life force of everything within their forest. They are able to control whatever animal, plant, or even the other races that treat upon their territory. This makes them strongest on their own land. Being so, the elves rarely attack other races. Even so, there is still interaction. Elven medicine surpasses all others. There may occasionally be a travelling elven merchant who will sell these things. Outside of their territory, their main weapon is the bow. They may also do trade in the form of music. This can mean either travelling performances or the selling of instruments. They are not immortal but stay young and beautiful through their whole lives. The faes live west to the humans, and they are known as tricksters and troublemakers. They like to pick on almost everyone else, using small magic to help them. They hardly work together, mainly because they wouldn't be able to get along with another one just like them. They all have something they represent, whether it's an element or an emotion. The only race they are afraid of hurting are the ogres. The mermaids live south to the humans and settle in places with water. They are highly intellectual, curious and have the strongest naturally occurring magical powers. Like the faes, you will rarely see them in groups. But this is mainly because of their low numbers. Mermaids are easily offended and when they are, will join forces and attack. Their powers vary depending on where they were born. The ones born in a swamp are able to control the weather, the ones born in the sea are able to control your emotions and actions ect. The ogres reside north to everyone. They are stupid but extremely powerful. They're manifestations of all negative emotions and possess the second strongest naturally occurring magic powers. The elves, humans and ogres are the only races that seem to have a definite ruler. In this case, the ruler isn't actually of the same species. The one controlling the ogres is a witch who goes by the name of Ares. She was originally human, but gain magical powers after ingesting the flesh of a mermaid. She seeks to take over all the races. (she will be played by me) The humans are spread throughout their country in city-states. The central governing city-state is ruled by a Monarch, Court of Elders and the military. he Monarchy consists of a king and his Queen (we can have mistresses if we'd like), a princess and the royal guards. There are 11 royal guards in total, each associated with a colour and an animal. Serving next to the king there will be an advisor, who will also be the king's brother, and a circle of diplomats. Within the democratic branch is the king's diplomats and the court of elders. There will be a voting system in which the decisions can be made, but only privileged families can vote. The decisions and laws are presented to the elders by either the king's diplomats or high representation in the populous. However, the laws must also be passed though to the king and given approval. We can decide whether the court of elders or the king has more power later. The court of elders are also part of the Church at the time. Foreign relations are also regulated by the elders. They are the executive branch of the government. The Military branch is overseen by one supreme power. That would be the "Valkyrie". She controls all decisions made my the military. There are three main branches of the military, Navy, main land and the aces. The navy and mainland are self explanatory but the aces are an elite force which serves only in extreme cases. In order to join the military, you need the Valkyrie's and the king's approval. Even though the approval of the Elders are not required, it is best to stay on their good side. The military deals with crime and people who interfere with the law, making them the judicial branch of the government. There are 3 main classes of people. The Nobles (ones who are able to vote and influence the Elders), the middle class (mainly merchants and accountants) and the lower class( slave labor). The Nobles oftentimes have slaves, as does the royal court and the military. The main idea of this story is that the ogres will open war upon the other races. Edit: About crossbreeding, it is possible, just that you can't be a hybrid of more than two species. Your traits will be more similar to whatever species your mother was. ---------- Characters: Here's the character skeleton: Username: Character full name: Race: (Human/ Elf/ Fae/ Mermaid/ Ogre) Sex: (Male/Female/Asexual) Age: Strengths: Weaknesses: Picture: Short biography: Remember to PM me the skeleton to get approval. Has been serving the Aces for 6 years and intends to die on the battlefield. ---------- Kick off post: Ares sighed as he approached the northernmost City-state in the human territory. He was riding upon a brilliant white stallion with dark inanimate eyes. He was wearing a white and blue cloak and had a leather pack slung upon his shoulders. He calmly trotted the horse towards the gates of the city-state, hearing the crunch of the hooves underneath upon the fresh layer of snow and watching his breath form streams of clouds in front of him. As he got closer, he saw the gates were unguarded and slightly ajar. A smirk crept onto his flawless face. "They're fast, aren't they." The horse grunted as if it agreed. Ares unmounted his horse and directed him in by the reigns. The city-state was in ruins. All the buildings were smashed in, the streets were in ashes from an impossible fire. The only sound you could hear was the deathly howl of the wind. There were no signs of any humans left. Ares gave out a short dry laugh. "Looks like the job was well done, don't you think so Thaddeus?" He reached to stroke the main of the horse. It was strange how loving he could be to a single animal when he had just given out orders to wipe out 500 humans. There was a sudden change in the air. The wind grew silent. Ares felt the presence of another man. It's coming from within that house over there.... Right after that thought, the man had emerged. Bloodstained, battered and soiled, the man managed to stutter out "Pl-please sir.... please help me." Ares felt his jaw tighten. They left a human alive?! Hiding his true emotions, Ares put on a mask of concern and shock. He ran towards the man, who was now stumbling to get on his feet. He held his arm to give assistance. "Please sir, we were attacked. Please help me." "Were there other survivors?" "No, please, help..... I need you to tell the central state that we've been attacked." "Are you the messenger of this town?" "Yes, but I haven't been in contact with the central state for so long......no, please....just help kind sir." Ares erased his mask of false compassion. "I will. Farewell Jeremiah." The man's face turned into one of horror, and Ares knew exactly what he was thinking. The man was thinking "How did he know my name?" Right in the moment when the man realized who Ares really was, it was already too late. Ares pushed the dead corpse off his shoulders. He left the body in the middle of the road and remounted Thaddeus. With a quick snap of his fingers, he summoned the disposal of the corpse; it was to be eaten by the ogres in precaution of it being found. Just like that, Ares started making his way to the Central-state. |
Kailani awakened from a nother nighmare it seems as fate didnt change any since last night she slowly walked the corroders to the kings chambers and knocked soon after nocking the door flung open as the king stood there looking frantic
"my lord" she curtseed and he flicked his hand which was the sign meaning that she could talk "my lord we have to do something new our northern areas are being attacked and soon they shall be here if we don't do something soon im afraid we won't make it" the king then walked inside his room Kailani following telling him of her dreams and ideas of how they could save the kingdom. |

Kyle was lucky. He got off work early. He didn't plan on going to sleep though, he was going to train. He used his magick to conceal himself and ran toward The Armory. The only thing he was thankful to his Father for was magick. It helped him out of tons of situations. He used the secret passages he found a few months ago. He got to the room easily enough. when He entered he picked his favorite sword and got to work. He was a good swordsman. That's why he never understood why he wasn't accepted into the academy. He knew why, he was a halfblood and a bastard orphan. All of this fueled his powers, determination, and ambition. he would be the best. He would become one of the Aces and he would eventually even surpass Valkyrie. He turned and began to fight shadow dummies, his own invention. They looked like him but reacted faster And harder then himself. He beat the first One Quickly. That's when he heard people outside The door talking about the northernbCitystate being destroyed. No survivors Or bodies were found. Just a city in ruins. Many people say the witch Ares was behind it. the voices continued down the hall and he continued to work. |
after Kailani finished talking with the king she was asked to leave as she got to the door she turned and took a glance at the king who was pacing back and forth.
she left and headed for the princess's chamber when she arrived the door was open and the princess invited her in happily. smiling Kailani entered and sat beside her. Kailani's spirits always rised when she was with the princess she smiled as the princess rambled on about how she went horseback riding and how she ran away from her nanny kailani laughed at the stories the princess told her about. the princess was always having some adventure either escaping from her nanny and sneaking out the palace or listening to the gossip of the house servants from one secret tunnels near there quarters. "so princess what did you do yesterday while you where out " the princess told her of how she went to the town square and looked at all the vendors trinkets and things and of how she watched a puppet show , she then went on to explain how after she got home how nanny gaveher a quick switch to the behind and sent her off to bed early. after spending her hour with the princess Kailani went back to her chambers and looked in her mirror. she stared in the mirror wishing she could rid herself of seeing her mother even though she wasn't there. with a sigh kelani fliped the mirror to the reverse side and layed upon her bed and looked up at the chandeliar |
Ares changed appearances yet again, into a human that appeared to be from one of the northern city-states. She was wearing a heavy coat which concealed her completely and brought with her Thaddeus. Her body was dirty from a long while without wash. Her body battered and bruised from what seemed to be a struggle. She wandered towards the gates, which lead first to the main vendor's street. Her body was bloodstained and she held barely enough strength to position herself on her horse. "Halt" Called one of the two guards positioned on the left side of the gate, but she didn't seem to hear. The two guards crossed their spears before her preventing entry. Thaddeus immediately halted from his slow trot. "Who are you?" The guard spoke again. Ares's eyes were losing focus. "Hey! I'm talking to you!" Unable to keep herself up any longer, Ares collapsed. She fell off her horse onto the cold paved ground. Just before passing out, she heard panicked murmurs from the guards. "Someone! Help!" This caught the attention of some people walking by. One of the guards had gone to approach the unconscious person. He pulled the hood off. "What?.....a girl?....." Upon her body displayed countless marks of abuse. She also bore on her the marking of a slave. The guard examined the mark closer. "She's a slave.....This emblem means she belonged to the northernmost city-state......She's from the city-state that was attacked!" The guards looked at each other in shock. After a while of silence, one of them called out to some people walking by. "Is anyone willing to care for this girl for a while?" |
Ceres had been quietly smoothing the delicate bend of a miniature harp inside her tent on the vendor's lane when she heard the commotion at the entrance to the city. The elf was almost startled enough to crack the little instrument. She put it on a low table and exited her tent. Curious as to what was going on, she followed some of the more curious vendors out and saw the battered-looking human girl. Except her eyes told her that her wounds and marking weren't exactly legitimate, she had seen the place the guards were talking about during her travels and did not remember seeing this particular girl. She said nothing however, and stepped forward.
"I'll care for her. I've medicinal ointments in my tent." So is there a posting order? |
[[There isn't exactly a posting order, though it does help for people to do things one round at a time, just so no one falls behind]]
[[I'll be playing two characters from now on. I'm currently making the profile for the Valkyrie.]] "I'll care for her. I've medicinal ointments in my tent." The guards looked up to see the owner of the voice. Stepping towards them was an Elven girl. They sighed in relief, knowing that with Elven medicine, the girl will be properly taken care of. One of the guards offered to help carry her towards her tent. Deep in concentration, Titania carefully moved little figurines across the world map. She pushed a figurine of a small soldier off the northern most city-state, signifying that there are no longer forces located there. Her study was silent, but she wasn't alone. She was currently in the middle of a meeting with the heads of each military department. The head of the navy to her left, the head of the mainland on her right, and the head of the aces being herself. In the middle of all of them was a large table with a world map on it. placed on the map in the appropriate places were small figurines of soldiers, bases, crossbows, ships and whatnot. News of a city-state being attacked had just reached her. "Not a single person left......" She stated calmly. "I heard it was the working of Ares." the leader of the navy said. "Now then, we mustn't jump to conclusions." said the mainland leader. "No......we knew this day was coming." Titania clenched her fist upon the edge of the table. "Alarm your forces, up the defenses and keep an eye out for trouble." She tried to sound calm, but in truth, she wasn't. This village that had just been wiped out was the same village that her parents had died in 30 years ago. She straightened up and headed towards the door. "I'll need to start training my Aces, I expect you to all do the same with your sectors." |
Nodding silently at the soldier's offer to carry the seemingly wounded girl to her tent, Ceres followed behind and wondered why she would feel the need to pretend to be injured. But she had a feeling she wouldn't have to wait long to find out. Considering the fact that it hadn't really taken her very long to actually be allowed to set up a tent in the city's trading area, and the rumor had spread rather quickly that there was an elf present. She'd had a few gawkers though few buyers as of yet. And now she had a little human to take care of, though it wouldn't be all that difficult. As soon as the two were alone in her tent, the girl safely tucked into a soft bed of blankets and fur, Ceres sat herself back on her working stool and resumed the smoothing of her harp. She knew the girl, or whoever she truly was, would speak when she felt the need of it. Elves were a surprisingly patient race and that trait worked to her advantage in her current situation.

Kyle woke up the next morning early. He couldn't sleep and felt like heaving. He was sick again. he shouldn't have been surprised. It was so common it was almost second nature. Kyle got out of kitchen duty a lot because of it though, they didn't want teh royals to get sick.
The only thing was that Kyle never saw the royal much. He mostly worked in the cleaning rooms washing dishes, he rarely ever served the royal, again because of his varying sicknesses. No one ever knew how to treat him. their was only one race of people that oculd help him, the Elves and he didn't get out of the Central State much. He only knew of about one elf in the city and he never got out of the castle to see her. He went over to his wash tub and began to hurl. He decided to explore. He didn't have work today so he was free. He used the passageways he found earlier and he roamed aimlessly for a while and came into a room that he shouldn't have been able to find. It was the princesses chambers. Somehow there was an secret opening in the wall of the room. wehn he stepped through the doorway the door imediately shut behind him. "Damn!" He knew that if he was caught in here he would probably be whipped for brrreaking and entering. Only a select few could enter this room, the family, the guards, a hand full of nobles, the princesses nanny, and one other servant. The other servant is the one that interested him the most. She was like him, a half fae. It annoyed him that they let a half fae be that close to the king and his daughter but he couldn't even get accepted into the Academy. He was angry but not at the girl, who was a request of the king apparently. He gave a tug at the wall but it wouldn't budge. there was commotion outside the door adn Three guards came crashing through the door and the princess woke up wiht the scream. This was not going to end well. |
kailani awaked hearing a commotion down the hall she fixed herself and hurried down to see what was going on.
at the princesss room there where guards about ,and the princess seemed riled and upset "whats wrong princess?" she asked the princess shrugged her shoulders " the guard came rushing in and told me to quickly get out, then you showed up" Kailani nodded and told her to wait as she walked in the princess's room and saw the guards holding and questioning some one. she walked around and noticed it was one of the servants, the halfling just like her. She had only seen him once or twice in her whole time in the castle. she looked at him and saw he ment no harm "let him go"she said the guards looked at her and slowly let him go. |
Ares felt herself get carried away. Although the wounds upon her body were self inflicted for the purpose of disguise, her fatigue was honest. After all, the magical exertion it took for her to transform herself into a human was great. She had used to power to get her body to look like what she did before, back when she was still human and a slave. She felt something warm and soft cover her body, and winced a little as something prickled into her open wounds. She let out a soft groan, but her eyes were too tired to open. She felt a gentle rustle and the presence of another. The room she was in was filled with a foreign aroma. Unconsciously, she started feeling sick. The scent had triggered a memory. "Please stop master, I didn't mean to." A bamboo rod slapped across the girl's back, tearing into her skin. "Silence. How could you make such a mistake on such a simple errand?" The girl sat on the floor, huddled in a corner. Her back was exposed, along with vivid red streams of blood, the same colour as her hair. Her whole body shook as she let out silent waves of tears. Laying just outside of reach was a small white glass bottle what will ease her pain later on. But she was running low on the Elven medicine, and feared it will not last her another beating. Just then, as if the master had read her mind, he picked up the little white bottle. With a twisted smile on his face, he smashed it against the stone wall, leaving small trains of thick clear liquid all over the place. He then left the room, leaving the girl to think she was safer and the storm was over. But she heard metal rustling in the next room and immediately knew......he was coming back.... Just then, Ares heard a piercing scream that jolted her back into reality. It took her a few seconds to recognize it was hers. She panted and gasped and automatically reached for her chest. He heart was pounding in her ears. That's right.... She thought. It's all over now...... ---------- Titania roamed the streets of the Central-state. Her emotions would be in chaos if not for her ability to keep her mind clear. She has already alerted the Aces and they're started planning out battle strategies. The only problems was that there were only 21 of them, not enough to form a full fledge army. Though there is a good reason, the Aces were the best of the best and were chosen personally by herself through extensive testing. But today, she roamed the streets for one sole reason, to recruit more Aces. Why didn't she set up auditions? Because what she was looking for needed to be found, not shown off by someone. Her interest right now lied in someone who has previously tried to join the military. She pulled out a sheet from her armor. Printed on the crinkled sheet was the information of a young boy named "Kyle Alan Sajiin". "A half blood, eh?" Her brow furrowed as conflicts developed inside her. Half bloods were not allowed into the military by popular vote. People feared that their inhuman side will take over and they will gain more power through the military. Nonetheless, he seemed promising. "Perhaps if her were to serve as a second line soldier......" Titania sighed. The boy was a servant in the Royal castle. Reaching him should be easy, but in doing so it is a sign of interfering with the Royal family. But internal conflict between the ruling powers was the last thing on her mind. Without a second thought, she made her way for a personal visit at the castle. |
Ceres had finished smoothing the harp and had set it aside so she could mix the liquid coating that would be brushed upon it to give it a darker, richer color and gloss when her temporary ward unleashed a sudden scream. Almost instantly, she was on her knees at the girl's side, murmuring a simple calming spell all elves were taught to help with patients. Her ears had picked up gossip about the attack on the city-state, and the suspicions of practically everyone that the witch Ares was the one behind it. The elf rather felt that her patient was Ares herself. But elves did not concern themselves with the affairs of humans, so she wasn't going to turn her in. Though she was concerned by the fact that this girl was plagued by either nightmares, or unpleasant memories. Taking an elven cup, she held it in her hand and waited for the girl to calm down, then silently held it out to her.
"It'll help bring you back to the present," The cup had certain properties that were good for soothing nerves and bringing thoughts to ground. It was used mainly to begin meditative states, but that effect only worked for other elves. Humans felt a sense of calm and warmth when they drank from those certain cups. Sitting back on her heels, Ceres examined the girl with her head tilted slightly. |
The Guards crashed through the door and told the princess to leave. She immediatedly listened. once she was gone the Guards raised their swords and started asking him questions one after the other.
Being unable to answer because of the speed of questions, Kyle Simply said, "I didn't mean any harm I didn't even know that this dorr led into the princesses room." "Of Course you didn't, Four armed guards at the doora dn you didn't notice. Damn these guys are dumb. He basically just said I calmly walked through the door during his watch. He would get in more trouble than I would. "I didn't go through that door. There's one hidden in the wall." "Yeah, right." they then grabbed him and began to lead him out the room. "Let him go." Thank God. The gril who said it was most obviouslyt the other halfling. he was never so gald to see her in is life. He walked over to her and said, "Thank you." He then turmed to the princess bowed and said, "My apoligies if I scared you, Your Majesty." |
Silthryk narrowed his eyes as he leaned back slightly from the anvil, trying to keep his face away from the sparks as they flew from the red-hot metal. He didn't seem to feel them thought as they bounced off his arms with every strike the hammer made. The sound of metal-on-metal resonated all through the wide, relatively open space of the smithy before pouring out into the busy market street.
After inspecting the hot metal in his hand, he quickly doused it in the dark water within a barrel, the hissing was sharp in his sensitive ears, but he was used to it. Moving thorough the cloud of steam, he placed the cooling metal on a stone slab and looked it over a few more times before laying it to rest for now. Giving a yawn and stretching, the scarred half-elf went over to a set of narrow steps and accended them quickly, opening the door at the top and stepping into his cluttered, one-room home. After searching though a few stacks of papers and crafting supplies, he pulled out a small sack and made his way downstairs, counting the few coins he had before heading out to the streets to buy a meal or two. |
As the guards left the room the princess came back hiding behind kailani who looked at the boy smiling.
"it was no problem, im sorry if they hurt you. I heard you say something about the tunnels i didn't know any body else knew about them , the princess is always ranting on about them she uses them to get out the castle i thought that the only people who knew about them where the royal family and i but it seems i was wro..." she stopped instantly and begin to blush , it seems she had picked up one of the princess habits for there she was ranting on. "my name is Kailani, what is your name if i may ask?" |
"Hi, I'm Kyle. Kyle Alan Sajiin. You're the other halfling, right. Not to be rude or anything, just wondering." Kyle was surprised at how this was going, althoguh he did feel the need to hurl. He was feeling better until the guards came crashing through "I found the passages a few months back, i mostly use them to.... uh....." Kyle couldn't say train because that would get him in trouble. "Get to work, whenever i oversleep."
He turnmed to the princess, "You use the passages too? That's surprising, never expected a princess to be so intrested in a hole in the wall." After he was done he looked at his fellow half blood. She was quite beautiful. Although she looked only a few years older that himself, he knew that she was probably older. The Half fae normally took the fae aging process as their own. Kyle was not like this as of yet. He adopted the human aging process, although this could change. This is why most people distrusted halflings. One day they can be completely human adn the next they can gain inhuman speed and strength, they also lived longer than humans on average. Another thing he didn't have that this girl probably did was wings. The half fae could contract and retract their wings, if the had them. Kyle never gained his yet. he wasn't disappointed though, he didn't want people to know he was a fae. The only problem was that, at times they could. He had fae eyes. These eyes were just pupils. They were completely black. This is why KYel was sensitive to light. |
"nice to meet you Kyle, mhm" she nodded " i am the other halfling " "never expected a princess to be so interested in a hole in the wall."he said.Kailani fluttered her wings as she giggled, no one would be she thought to her self, she knew the princess was one to be nothing like you expected her.Kailani looked at the boys eyes they showed her reflection like a mirror of compete darkness she didn't have eyes like that.
She liked how they reflected things, she found her self smiling more as she looked at them she stared in them so hard she didn't notice she begin to hover in front of his face, soon catching herself in the act she landed back on her feet "sorry" she had never seen another halfling so close up nor talked with one as nice as him "i hope he doesn't think there is any thing the matter with me ' she thought, she didn't want him thinking she was weird she liked meeting new people she grew excited quickly and forgot about boundaries that the majority of them didn't want passed. she had been told to keep her self in line and for the most part did but there was something special about him and she could sense it. |
Kyle was stunned at how close Kailani was but didn't object immediately. "No problem," he said, then he remembered that when he was sick his fae eyes came out. that explained her curiosity. He quickly blinked rapidly to "refresh" his eyes. They were still black but now they actually had whites to them.
"So you know magick? I'm a shadow magic user myself. That's got to be one of best parts of being half fae. MAGICK. Lovely, isn't it?" |

A warm thick liquid was forced down Ares's throat. She choked and spluttered and inevitably panicked. But soon after, her nerves calmed. It was as if a strange drug was now coursing through her veins. Surely, Ares started to remember everything. Where she was, who she was, and what she was planning on doing. Awoken and sane, she observed her surroundings. To confirm the presence she sensed earlier, there was an elven girl sitting next to her. Apparently she had been the one who fed her the drink. She seemed to be in a tent. Her eyes fell over the various items withing, until it hit the cup on the floor. Ares stared at it, and then back at girl. Ares pulled herself upright, wincing at the pain from her self inflicted wounds. The blankets fell off of her body into her lap, revealing that they have been slightly stained in blood. For a while, it felt as if they just stared at each other, not sure of what to say. She didn't want to talk. She didn't want to open conversation. But pressured by an awkward silence, Ares broke eye contact and asked "Where is my horse?". Her voice was weak and hoarse from days without use. ---------- http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...Knight-1-1.jpg Titania reached the castle, and immediately requested for the halfling. Immediately, one of the main guards went to alert the king. The others went in search for the boy. It is not known for the king to deny any request from Titania, due to the fact that he trusts her to make only necessary and good decisions. Though the request to see this boy was odd. Usually, such a high power would not request to see a lowly servant. Titania waited patiently at the main foyer for a guard to arrive with the boy. Even if she were to wait all day, she is determined on seeing him. The boy had an asset as a halfling that none of her Aces did. And it could prove to be a vital weapon in times of war. Magick. Humans are naturally incapable of wielding magick. But as a halfling, there is a high chance that he can. She shifted slightly under the weight of the armor. There was another halfling in the kingdom too......if I remember correctly. She was to serve the princess by her side. If the boy had powers like her..... Well, it would still be difficult. Ares is a very powerful witch. She could easily destroy the whole country. Titania knew this from her experience. She's met Ares once before. It was in the battle 30 years ago up north. Her parents were both killed, but for some odd reason Ares had chosen not to kill her. She knew she was fully capable, but there was something holding her back from destroying all of man kind. Instead she's decided to control the entire population of ogres and attack through them. Titania frowned as she tried to figure it out. Perhaps it's the little piece of humanity she has still within her..... She thought sarcastically. |
Ceres had been calmly watching her tent's guest, wondering at the faint play of emotion she saw flicler across her face. The elven girl looked back at the human steadily, with no change in expression other than a mild curiosity; it seemed her guest wasn't inclined to talk. No matter, she wouldn't force her as that was not their way. "Your horse is keeping my Satiran company in his stable, they seem to like each other and are well taken care of." She didn't mention that Satiran was an elven horse who liked to gossip with the regular horses whenever he had the opportunity. Standing up, she reached into her meal trunk and pulled out a box with mildly spiced bread in it and a container of sweet honey mead. Putting them on a small table, she motioned to the human girl. "Eat, drink. My tent is yours for as long as you want it," she took her place back at her workbench, letting her decide whether she wanted to stay and rest or leave. Turning around, she went back to her work.

Ares stared hungrily at the food placed before her. Only then did she realize how hungry she had been. But she didn't want to eat off of a complete stranger. Overcoming her original sense of hostility, she decided to open speech. After all, it was unwise to make an enemy of someone who's willing to care for you. And if this elf was like any others Ares had known, she probably has higher intuition than the humans do. Which can make her a potential threat. Ares decided to start little by little. She herself didn't want to talk, but she wanted the Elven girl to talk.
"Not to seem rude but.....who are you?" Ares looked straight at the Elven girl. Ares's eyes were cobalt blue; so bright it seemed inhuman. But she needed to observe the girl's reactions. Elves were not known to lie or try to conceal themselves for they normally had no enemies. So Ares's should be able to tell a lot about the girl just by observing her. |
Glancing briefly back at the human girl, Ceres continued with her work. "Well, I'm very obviously an elf, my name is Ceres, and I hail from the Eastern Forest. I'm a traveling merchant," here she held up the harp she was brushing varnish onto and thought briefly of her family. "I have two sisters and three brothers. The girls are vocalists and sing to our people, and my brothers are musicians and accompany my sisters. My parents sing to the trees of the forest," with a brief pang, she realized she hadn't seen any of her family members in at least a decade, possibly more. "I travel the land to meet people, learn things, and sell my instruments with Satiran as my only constant company. Was that more or less what you wanted to know?" Finally finishing the harp, which she had been working on for an entire week already, Ceres set it aside and cast a reinforcement spell on it, to keep it from breaking for at least a few decades. Setting the delicate thing aside, she turned in her stool and gave her guest her complete and undivided attention.

Ares stared at the girl as she talked. Her voice was calm but she could see that her movements were almost a bit choppy. Especially when the girl had started to talk about her family. No words needed to be said, but Ares almost immediately understood what she felt. She gave an almost involuntary sympathetic smile. She averted her eyes from the elven girl to examin the old scars on the back of her hands. She looks young for an elf......perhaps about 50.... Ares turned her hand over to examine her palm. That's still half a human's life. She thought as the clenched her fist close. She wasn't upset..... she was just thinking.
"Was that more or less what you wanted to know?" Ares once again gave her attention to the elven girl, who now had her full interest in talking with her. Ares sensed no threat in her. She smiled and replied "Your name was all I needed to know about you." Feeling a bit bored, Ares decided to test her luck. Her face cracked into a gentle smile. "Now.....what do you know about me?" |
Just before Kyle got a chance to address the princess one of the guards came in and said,"Has anyone seen a halfling servant named Kyle Alan Sajiin? Valkyrie is looking for him." Kyle spoke up. "that's me" he said before realizing what the man had said. The Valkyrie was looking for him? Why? The military didn't like halflings in their ranks, Kyle only knew of 2, and both didn't end well. Why would the leader of the Aces come to find him? "Where is she?", he said confidently.
