Walking down the bustling market street, it was difficult to surpress his pleasure. A smile crossed the man's face in response. He intentionally walked past the alley which his prey sought refuge. The man would give it a few more moments, let Liam drop his guard then move to strike. Thinking about this plan of attack made the man's grin grow. He adjusted his black cloak and let out a slight laugh.

Liam had been eyeing the man in black as he walked down the road. The burning sensation on his back started to lessen, and he heaved a sigh of relief. He hadn't been seen. Removing his hand from Adel's mouth, Liam stepped back releasing her from his hold.

"Look, sorry about that but you need to get out here. Just stay away from me and you won't get involved." He turned to gaze out on the busy city market. He had to make a plan of how to slip out of Susel and fast. There was the matter of his payment, but it was just money. If he could catch a caravan out to Duns he might find a place to lay low for a while. "I guess it was only a matter of time til they found me."

"Indeed. Did you think you could escape forever Liam?"A sinister voice replied behind him. Liam froze, his blue eyes stretched in terror. He turned in time to see the black cloaked man formulate up from the sand on the ground. The dark man cackled and flicked his wrist before Liam could react any further. This send Liam slamming into the wall beside him and becoming pinned by a rock-like band around his neck, which also lifted him up a foot off the ground. He scrambled and struggled to keep from choking. The man laughed again as he watched Liam's reaction. "Oh Liam, since I have your attention now do tell me where he is. Your partner, Desiderio. I need you both back."

Liam pulled himself up about an inch, keeping his weight held by his hands. "He--..unh...he's...dead. The whr--the worm."

"Hmmm. An unfortunate fate. No matter, you are still coming back with me."

Adel watched the scene unfold rather stunned, attempting to act as confused as possible she shuffled to the side. Then she bared down on Liam's attacker with both of her blades, but they seemed to glance away just before her blows landed.

Seeing it was no use Adel stepped back a few feet and assumed a fighting stance, "Let him go and tell me what it is you need from him.", she demanded with a fire in her eyes.

"Hmmm?"The dark man turned, at first gazing at Adel with a rather unamused expression on his face. That is until he noticed the fire in the woman's eyes and the defiance in her voice. "What's this? Ooo, we have a fiery one here."

He walked over to Adel, snatching her chin up in his hand completely ignoring tue blades in her hands. The dark man stared into her eyes, letting his sharp black gaze pierce into her soul. "I need him to do his job. My bidding. He's my property, my dear. Paid for in full." He started then glanced back at Liam still struggling on the wall. "Is this your woman, Liam? Not a bad catch if I do say so myself, but not what I'd expect from you."

"Hhnng-! No."

"No? Then what do you say to me taking her then? Hmm?" As he asked he pulled Adel in to a lock hold and after slowly extending claws from his nails, he started to dig them into her cheeks while still holding her face.

"NO! Let--hnng--her go! She has nothing to do with me!" Liam's struggling grew in intensity at this.

The dark man laughed."Hahaha!! So is important to you! Perfect. Take her!" He barked the command then threw Adel to the ground. She was then picked up by two shadowed figures that had not been there a moment ago. The man then walked over in front of Liam.

With a smile he said, "She'll be your new partner."

Liam growled fiercly at this which set his master to laughing again just before his vision clouded over into darkness.

"Your property?", Adel asked taken a little off guard.

He moved in like a snake striking its prey, both swift and deadly. Those eyes froze Adel in place. Soon his 'nail' bore down into the flash on her cheek causing prickles of blood to trail their path. The pain was agonizing but Adel found she could not make any audible sounds.

Next thing she knew two men were on both sides of her, they had seemingly come out of nothingness. With control of her body back Adel struggled to get free but soon all of them disappeared into the shadow, reappearing at some indoor location Adel was not familiar with.

She was whisked away from Liam and into another room by the two men whom she was surprised could overpower her. Adel was stripped down and branded with some weird tattoo, the rage and pain built up inside of her and was released in a resounding yell. After the process she managed to sink her teeth into the arm of the man who branded her with the hot instrument. Adel held on like a dog, unwilling to let the man's arm go even after multiple blows to the head. That is until one blow to many landed and she was unconscious.

Liam came to, to an unpleasantly familiar sight. He winced, then heaving a groaned sigh he pushed himself up off the ground. It wasn't another moment later when two guards dragged in an unconscious Adel into his cell. She was clad in only in a old, ripped up tunic. The guard to her right had a bandaged arm, and Adel herself was bleeding around her head. Liam started to raise to his feet, but they tossed the woman to the ground by his feet.

One of the guards grunted and shoved Liam back a bit. "This yo' bitch? You'd better teach her some respect, or I'll personally tear that feisty spirit of her's to shreds. Got that?" He gave Liam some sharp jabs to the shoulder as he spoke while leaning up in his face.

Liam only glared and set his jaw. At least before he and Des had managed to escape this nightmare, they were treated with higher regard. The guard sneered at Liam's defiance and spat at him before shifting to leave. They crossed over to the cell door crossing the threshold into the freedom of the hallway. The one who had spoke turned back for a moment to add, "You'll both be getting ten lashes come morning. A mild punishment if you ask me."

Liam waited until they had walked out of sight before checking on Adel. He crotched beside her battered body and lifted her up so he could check her wounds. It was a relief to find nothing highly serious. She was going to have one hell of a headache for a couple of days at most, but she'd survive. He cautiously--and slightly nervously---went about checking the rest of her body. He gently checked around her private places to make sure they hadn't attempted to take advantage of her. He was glad to not find anything and moved on quickly.

When he came to her back, his stomach sank like led. She'd already been branded! Liam had hoped that his master had only been playing on of his sadistic games in bring Adel here, thinking she'd die and make him suffer. But he'd been serious! She was his partner now and forever trapped under the guild's black maw; like him. Liam paused for a long while, staring only at the black mark burned into her flesh--which he knew to be laced with black enchantments. Then, he set her gently back down and walked about the cell. His pace quickened until he eventually raced over to the closest wall and slammed his fists into it with all his might screaming out.

He carried on with the enraged fit until his skin cracked releasing the cooling flow of blood; until his hands throbbed themselves numb; and until his voice was all but spent. Exhausted, Liam slid down the now bloody wall into a sitting position. He sat in an emotionless stupor while catching his breath, but gave way to tears. No matter how hard he tried, he could not truly escape. And now he had brought a unfortunate new acquaintance down into his black world. He felt sick thinking about it. Why couldn't he push her away before? He should have never of spoken to her to begin with. Now she was to be forever tormented for his mistake. Torment consuming his every though, Liam cried himself to sleep.

Her eyes fluttered open to see Liam sitting with his back against a wall. Upon turning her head to look at the rest of the room Adel realized they were in some sort of dingy cell. The back of her head throbbed intensely and so Adel set her head back down on the cool slightly damp ground. A faint taste of iron still hung in her mouth from when she drew blood from her attacker. In an attempt to be rid of the taste she spat a couple of times, her head still on the floor. Though Liam was there she made no attempt to address him as of yet, hoping this entire thing was just a dream.
