Among the crates on a New York dock, a statue stands. A stone Gargoyle with large bat like wings, and a long thin serpentine tail. It reaches about six feet tall, and has human like facial features aside from two fangs which lend a monstrous appearance to an otherwise handsome face. Strangely this statue wears a pair of loose pants, and a leather belt, both of which appeared to be carved from stone.
As the last light of the sun slipped away over the horizon, the statue's eyes begin to glow, and the stone covering them falls away as tiny shards. Cracks form in the stone skin covering the rest of the creature. Suddenly there was a loud crack, and shards of stone flew off of the now living beast.
A creature with black skin and spiky, dark blue hair now stood amongst the crates. His gray pants blew in the breeze coming off of the bay. He took a deep breath in, and turned to look out over the bay. He raised his eyes and took in the Manhattan skyline.
"Finally," he sighed "It's been a very long time. " He had been looking for this place for almost twelve years. His old friend was somewhere in this city. A young human girl he had met the last time he had gotten himself lost. He let his mind drift back.
When he was young he and his brother had been playing around a cargo plane. Near their home in the Rockies. They heard the humans coming, and he had had to hide in the plane. When he awoke, they had delivered him to a pottery store in Manhattan, the next day he was bought by a married couple and placed in their yard. During the night he had met their young daughter named Jane. A few months later he managed to sneak onto a train bound for Colorado, and had to leave without saying goodbye. When he returned home he found that his clan's cave had been destroyed by a landslide. He thought humans must have been blasting the mountains to build more roads. And ever since then he had been looking for the place he had last felt something akin to happiness. He didn't know the way, and it had taken him all of this time to find it again.
He looked around until he found a cargo barge which was crossing the river. He'd be there soon.

There were figures in the distance, massive wings of unmistakable shape. Gargoyles.
The small greenish yellow gargoyle turned his head away as one of the skaters they were watching had a really bad wipe-out on the streets below.
"Oh that's gotta hurt." Brooklyn muttered with a chuckle. Lexington stood and turned to adjust how he was sitting when he spotted something only a few rooftops away. He tapped Brooklyn on the shoulder.
"Hey... check it out." He said, pointing to the winged person not too far from them. The red gargoyle turned to look at what his friend was talking about.
"Is that what I think it is?" Brooklyn asked.
"What, what is it?" Broadway asked, also turning away from the teenagers on hand-made ramps below. "Is that... a gargoyle?"
"You two stay here, I'm gonna go check it out." Brooklyn said, stretching his wings and dropping from the edge of the rooftop- gliding over until he landed just a few yards away from the dark-skinned gargoyle.
"I didn't think there were any like us around here... did you just arrive in Manhattan friend?"

Jet blinked furiously. What he was seeing was rather shocking for him. He had never known any Gargoyles other than his own family. Now, just feet from him stood another of his race, with reddish skin, and shaggy, white hair. The stranger was slightly smaller than Jet. He spoke in a friendly manner, but Jet was a bit weary of new people.
"Yeah, I just arrived. Got off a barge a little while ago." He eyed the other Gargoyle a bit, examining him. "Is this your city?"

"The city belongs to everyone." Brooklyn replied. "But my clan and I live here, and it is our protectorate."
He moved in closer, and extended a hand to shake the new gargoyles.
"Nothing seems too fishy yet." Lexington said to Broadway. The big plump gargoyle and the little green gargoyle kept their eyes on the pair only a few rooftops away.
"Do you think he's part of a clan nearby?" Broadway asked.
"Goliath would be happy to hear that if he was." was Lexingtons answer.

"Good to meet you then" Jet replied, taking the red Gargoyle's hand. "I'm from out west. My clan was killed in a landslide." He looked out over the rooftops. "I'm looking for an old friend of mine." He released the stranger's hand, as he turned back to face him. "How many are in your clan? Must be a lot to protect this place."
Jet looked at the red Gargoyle, then noticed the other two on a rooftop behind him. One was small, kind of a greenish yellow color. The other was large, about jet's height, and a bit rotund. Neither was armed, and all three of these strangers wore loincloths. New york was a strange city.

((wrist actually, they shake hands by holding wrists))
"If you wanna meet 'em then come with me." Brooklyn said. "Goliath would be happy to meet you. Maybe we can find your friend later on tonight?"
He spread his wings and stood on the edge, ready to glide back to the building where Lex and Broadway waited, and then climb up to the rooftop from the side of the building.
"Hey they're comin' over here." Broadway said with a smile. "That guy must be alright."

OOC: Are we sure a modern Gargoyle would use the wrist? Goliath's clan does because that was custom in the middle ages.
Jet followed the smallish red Gargoyle to the edge of the rooftop. The stranger jumped, and glided to the next building, and began to climb. Jet opened his wings. They were massive, their span being greater than jet's height, and their membranes almost looked feathered at the bottom. He took a step back, and then ran to the edge and leaped toward the other building, before twisting his frame, and catching the air. He made sort of a half corkscrew maneuver upward, latching to the side of the building a few inches higher than where the other Gargoyle had climbed. He was a bit competitive that way. He grinned at the red Gargoyle. "You still haven't told me your name." He said this almost jokingly.
After they both ascended the building, Jet stood before the rest of the group he had seen minutes ago. The big greenish blue one was actually a little shorter than he was, but clearly outweighed him, and the olive green one was tiny, smaller then a human even. "Right. I'm Jet. I'm from out west. And you all are?" He looked around the group, with an almost sarcastic quizzical expression.
PS: OOC= Out of character. It's what I use in the other Rp's I'm doing.

((Gargoyles raised by other gargoyles would I imagine, the Mayan Gargoyles did, and so did the London clan- not sop sure on Ishamura, I think they just bowed. Also, I know what OOC is, try to surround it with brackets of some kind though, it just looks neater.))
"You didn't tell me yours, I assumed you didn't have one." Brooklyn replied. Hoisting himself up onto the ledge, Brooklyn and Lexington greeted with smiles.
"Out west?" Broadway asked, and Lexington finished for him.
"You mean there are other gargoyles here?" they seemed impressed with Jet.
"We don't have time for 20 questions, let's bring him to Goliath, he's probably pretty wiped form his ride here anyway." Brooklyn suggested.

"My name is Jet. It was a nickname when I was little. My brothers called me that because I liked flying so much, and I was always doing it." He looked at the others "So what are your names, and who is Goliath?" Dawn was not too far off now, and Jet didn't want to lose any time finding Jane. These were, however the only Gargoyles he had seen in many years. He was glad they were friendly, and perhaps they could even help him. This actually gave the weary wanderer a spark of hope.

"That's cool. We chose our own names after areas here in Manhattan." Brooklyn replied. The trio, now a new quartet, took to wing and headed back to the clock tower. The three of them explained to Jet of their origins, which explained the loincloths and whatnot.
By the time they reached the clock tower, Jet was well informed. He would mostly be informed of the 'evil' of one David Xanatos, who sounded like a major dick.
"Is Goliath back yet Hudson?" Lexington asked an Elderly yellow gargoyle.
"I'm afraid no' lad." Hudson replied with his gruff Scottish accent, it suited him really. "I have'na seen him since he left with Elisa two hours ago. He should return soon I imagine. Who's yer friend here?"
"This is Jet, he's from the rocky mountains." Broadway replied.
"I had no idea there were other Gargoyles out and about. How on earth did you get here lad? From all the way up North?" The elderly gargoyle asked.

Jet looked the elderly Gargoyle in the eye. He only had one good one. "I walked. I spent twelve years trying to find this place, without knowing what it was called, or exactly where it was." He seemed almost irritated with himself. "I'm finally here now. I'm looking for a friend. A girl named Jane." He thought for the first time in recent history about just how difficult his task would be. Finding one girl, who had probably changed significantly in the past years, and all of that in a city of millions of people, who to him all looked rather similar. It could take another twelve years.
"So they say I should meet Goliath." He changed the subject, in order to brighten up his thoughts.

"Jane? Hm... in twelve years and just a name, it's not much to go on if we look for her." Hudson replied, stroking his beard in thought. "Perhaps we can have Elisa help you."
"She's a detective you know. Finds missing people all the time." Broadway told Jet. "That's one of her cases now, she's tracking down a gang of drug dealers."
"I think I see them." Lexington offered pointing to the sky. Indeed, two shapes had arrived. Goliath, who had carried Elisa until they landed. The pair arrived, and Jet would instantly know why he was called 'Goliath'... this guy was massive!
"Well that was a bust... I was sure I saw one of them run into that room." Elisa was saying.
"We will catch all of them next time Elisa, don't you worry." Goliath replied. Upon seeing the new gargoyle both stopped and stared.
"No way... another gargoyle?" Elisa asked. "Where did he come from?"
The explanations took an hour or so, on both sides of the fence. By the time everything was clear, Sunrise was only a few minutes away.
"You are welcome to join our clan Jet." Goliath assured him. "We will look for your friend Jane another night, but for now we had best take to our roosts. Tomorrow we are going on patrol to track down some trouble-makers Elisa and I lost tonight. Will you join us Jet?"

"I suppose" Jet replied. "Never really done that kind of thing though. I might not be too much help." He seemed a bit unsure of himself in this whole situation. He didn't know these people very well, and now he was helping them chase down criminals. Not that criminals were much of a problem. They were after all only human. Still however the idea was somewhat overwhelming.
He looked at the horizon, and noticed the golden yellow and peachy orange colors that the rising sun brought to the sky. "Where do you guys sleep? Does nobody come up here during the day?" He asked, realizing that in minutes he would be a helpless stone statue.

The group showed him the ledge as they took their places. There was room for Jet between Broadway and Bronx.
"Don't worry, we are safe up here." Goliath assured him. "Welcome to our clan Jet."
As that warm golden glow arrived, they all stiffened and turned to stone, taking their most intimidating poses before falling into their stone sleep.

As the last of the suns rays disappeared behind the new york skyline, a shadow fell across the old clock tower which housed the Manhattan police department. Cracks form in the stone skin of the seven Gargoyles standing watch on the ledge of a balcony which faces out over the streets below. Six of them family, and one with black skin and midnight blue hair a newcomer to their clan. For a moment they are still groggy from their day of stone sleep, but they gather themselves quickly, and enter the building.
Elisa a detective with the police, who is a friend to the clan stands inside waiting for them. "Someone said something about catching drug dealers?" Jet asked the woman, whom he had only met briefly last night.

"Yep." Elisa said. "We got some tips they're in the lower east side. If you guys wanna head down there and check it out, Matt and I will meet you there. Goliath knows what your looking for."
"Bronx and I will stay behind and hold down the fort." Hudson said. "I think Jet would do well to take my place tonight."
"Sounds good to me." Elisa said with a chuckle.
((timeskiiiip))
Out on the town, flying over the city, the gargoyles perched on the rooftop of some department store.
"Elisa, Broadway and I will continue east. Are you three alright to patrol this area?" Goliath asked.
"No problem Goliath." Brooklyn replied with a smirk. The human and two gargoyles flew off as intended. Minutes later, down on the corner was a gas station being robbed. A group of five hoodlums were using metal bats to bash open an atm machine, ripping out handfuls of the cash and stuffing it into backpacks before taking off. The group separated and went different ways as police sirens filled the air.
"I got the two heading left." Lexington said, going after the male and female pair.
"I got the strait ahead." Brooklyn replied, heading after the two males. That left jet with the final female, who turned right and ran through the alleyway.

Jet jumped from the rooftop, and flew after the girl. As he turned down the alley he twisted his torso, and flipped sideways skimming along one of the walls. The alleyway was not wide, and he couldn't fly any other way. The path below dead ended at a tallish, chain link fence. Jet saw the girl stop, and realized he'd have to turn around. He grabbed onto the side of one of the buildings, and folded his wings allowing him to swing all the way around. He then grabbed on with all four limbs, and kicked off, like a rocket in the direction of the girl. He barely cleared the fence, landed behind the girl, and did a small somersault to break his fall. He stood and turned. "What's the money for?" he couldn't see the girl's face behind the brim of her hat. "I figure if you need that much it's gotta be important." He laughed a little. For some reason this human didn't seem too scared of him. Normally any human would half crap themselves at the sight of him.
Both of them just stood there for a few minutes. Jet wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to do. He had caught the human he was supposed to chase, but he didn't want to hurt her. She looked fragile, like most humans did. He was afraid of what would happen if she tried to run, or worse attacked him. Humans did that sort of thing when they were scared.

(( No, bad godmod, no D:< *hits with rolled up newspaper* ))
The girl turned and glared at Jet, leaving a chilling shock in the air.
She was tall now... not a very curved shape, but it was a woman's build and not a girls. Her hair was cut into a rats tail, and a pair of round glasses accented her face. But she still had that mouse-brown hair, those evergreen eyes, that skinny shape she always had.
Jane.
"That's not really your business is it?" she demanded. "Take off, you great overgrown lizard. And tell your new friends that if they wanna play cops they should go to the academy like everyone else. Otherwise they're bigger thugs than we are!"

Jet was shocked, but still quick to reply. "So you're a thief now? Really!? Well this does seem to follow the pattern. Got lost, found a friend, got back home, family is dead, went looking for said friend, and find her after over a decade, and she's a criminal." He was really quite incredulous at the whole thing. His one friend in the world, whom he had spent half of his life trying to find again, was not the lovely child he had left, but instead a criminal, and a mean one at that. He wondered if this was a dream. Maybe it was a nightmare. Maybe he was still somewhere looking for the city, and the girl. He preferred that idea, but proof to the contrary was staring him green-eyed in the face. "What are you doing? This isn't you."

"You are hardly one to know what is and isn't me." Jane demanded. "Just go and- oh whatever, I don't give a crap. Get lost."
A cry of pain rang out in the air, Jet would know it belonged to Lexington. Upon that noise, something off happened. Literally within the blink of an eye... Jane vanished into thin air.
Jet would see the shape of Brooklyn gliding over-top of the alley he was in, getting to Lex as fast as they could. They found him on the ground, two alleys over, rubbing his bleeding head.
"Ow... one of them hit me." he mumbled.
"Can you stand?" Brooklyn asked offering a hand. Lex used it to pull himself to his feet, and after a moment, was happy to know the hit didn't do more damage than some broken skin.

"How did he get the drop on you?" Jet asked. "Did you look away for some reason?" Having been raised in the wild, Jet knew you didn't even glance away from any prey. It lead to situations like this one, which of course were to be avoided. "Mine vanished after I heard you scream. I'm not really sure what's going on." He tried to think about what he had seen of Jane's disappearance. There wasn't much there. He stopped worrying about it. He thought it would be less than a good idea to tell them who she had been.

"He was fast, most of the time people drop their stuff and run, this guy swung his bat and clocked me. I didn't have time to move or block." Lex explained.
They headed up the side of the building to get to the rooftops again. They leaped off the edge and glided across the street. Down below, the two males that Brooklyn had pursued were wrapped in a metal pipe that one had been using as his weapon. The police had already surrounded them.
"At least Brooklyn got his pair."
"I guess. Don't stress about it guys, we'll find the ones that got away some other time." Brooklyn insisted.
((timeskip))
Back at the clock tower, Broadway and Elisa had already arrived.
"I caught Tim Claus!" Broadway boasted. "He's the guy who was in charge of selling the stuff."
"Hopefully we can get some information out of him as to his other dealers." Elisa explained, but when she turned her head to see them, she was shocked to see blood on Lexingtons head. "What happened to you?!"
"Some people were robbing one of those bank machines. We stopped two of em." Lex replied. "Don't worry, it's nothing a days rest won't fix."

"Do people often vanish when you chase them here?" Jet asked Elisa, in a half sarcastic tone. "Mine was there, and then gone. It was strange. I don't lose prey that easily." Jet seemed to be thinking to himself at this. Wondering how he could have lost Jane. She was cornered. There was nowhere to go really, and it had happened so quickly. It reminded him of his ancestors old stories about the raven, and coyote. There and then gone, when they were playing tricks on you. Those were just stories though. That kind of thing didn't really happen.
Jet looked up. "Right, well what do we do with the rest of the night?" He was looking at Goliath.

"Vanish?" Elisa asked, unsure of what he meant. But at his second question, a conversation broke out, leaving her to wonder in silence.
"We could go out and try to round up the thieves we lost?" Brooklyn offered.
"It would take an hour to get back there, an hour to get back. Unless we go there and back instantly without any time to look or go after them, we'd be caught away from the tower at sunrise." Lexington said, shooting his idea down.
"We could go see a movie in the theater down the street?" Broadway suggested.
"I'm up for that." Was Brooklyn's reply. "Jet do you wanna go?"
