The reaction out of Holly was enough to make Zachary want to curl his lips into a smile. He wasn't particularly antagonistic, but the assertion that he would be unable to handle himself was enough to throw back a barb of his own.

"Hopefully that wasn't your blood," Jeane muttered dryly, "so tell me: were the lot of you all planning on sleeping or is one of you keeping watch? I'd rather be woken up by the sun as opposed to an infected git."

The two of them moved into the house from the doorway (Zachary handing Jeane his shotgun so that he could adjust the door back to its previously standing position). There wasn't much luggage between them, a backpack for each person containing consumables, bullets, and clothing. Zachary had wondered whether anyone else had provisions to split. It wasn't that big of an issue since they were going to head into town the next day, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Holly shrugged
"No need to keep watch. We're in the middle of a safe area; besides every day I make a thorough check of the whole building." she forced a smile and motioned to the newcomers. "Although if you two feel like you need to take shifts, go ahead."

Marsyas 02-16-2011 04:29 AM

The seasoned (for his age) mercenary continued to listen to the conversation at hand with a mild interest although his facial features showed no signs of this. Finally unable to resist looking up once more at the two new feisty arrivals and a slight smirk revealed itself upon his lips. It was nice to see some people with a bit of liveliness about them even if a bit... misplaced, at the time. They reminded him of the rowdy bunch of mercs that he originally traveled with and taught him the tricks of the trade. Those were good times...

Cows Go Moo 02-16-2011 05:12 AM

She was awfully sure of the area.

But being too sure could get a person killed.

"If you're sure I won't question you anymore," Jeane said finally.

But there was a visceral feeling that she would not be able to sleep without waking up every three hours.

Jeane had idly wondered whether or not Zachary was thinking on the same wavelength he was since he was the one that proposed watches when they first partnered up. He must be rubbing off on me, she thought with a feeling of distaste. He was too trigger happy (and paranoid) for her taste (not that she was one to talk).

"I know that this is pretty late, but for the sake of having something to call you all by would the rest of you introduce yourself?" asked Zachary.

Other than Holly, no one else had chosen to speak much less do something about their dynamic entrance (what were they, dolls?) so hopefully it would give him some piece of information and point of conversation.

Debating whether or not to comply with the request that was presented to the remaining members of the party who had yet to part their lips, the male finally finished polishing his guns to a nice healthy gloss. Satisfied with the work he had done Ze glanced between the two not really sure if he wanted to trust them. He had already been more trusting than usual when he went out on a limb to try and gain a companion, and with that already taken care of he had no real need to speak with the uninvited guest that had simply barged right in. Making sure to show no emotions that would give away his thoughts on any of his form, he took a few moments to deliberate.

Having decided that he really had nothing further to lose (today at least, besides his life) the young man began putting away his possessions as he chimed, "Zeno." After placing everything back to where it went, he looked at the two once more then added, "A pleasure to meet the both of you." Honestly, he wasn't sure if he was telling the truth or trying to convince himself but either way it didn't matter to him. Being polite was a plus in this day and time so he didn't plan to disregard his upbringing for any reason.

Katie Scarlett Divine 02-16-2011 08:38 PM

Aurora looked at the newcomers, looking at the boy and then at the girl. The boy looked older than her but the girl didn't. "It's a pleasure to meet you both." She said softly, brushing her bangs out of her face. "I'm Aurora and this is my younger brother Alexander." She said, looking towards the glass on the ground and then back at the boy. When he said his name she couldn't help but think that there was something in his voice that said it wasn't his.

Alexander was slightly startled at the new people. "Yeah, I'm Alex."

((Sorry its short but I was kind of left in the dust..))

Artemis had declined taking the bead, she felt that if she did she would become to accustom to the comfort, and it would dull her awareness. She looked around as everyone was going to sleep, she decided to stay silent and watch. She smiled a little at the thought of this being a temporary, dysfunctional, little family. It warmed her heart think that she had something to protect, just to protect. But she shook her head to clear them of those Naive thoughts.

Later in the evening, were she was half asleep, half guarding the room, she jumped at the sudden noise. Seeing the knew arrivals she back up into the room so she wasn't noticed, so she could study them with out being other or mislead. She noticed their interaction.
'Their warrior types, attack first take names later. They have fought a lot and struggle for survival. just like us.' She nodded to herself, they could be trusted, if only for now. She walked out from her hiding place in the shadows, one of her many skills, and walked back to her place agents the wall near a window, leaning back with her scythe out and across her chest and shoulder hugging it, ready for sudden attacks.

((Again sorry))

[Yaay! Lol ok. -POOF- Tis now 7am.]

A soft groan was heard as Holly began to stir.
'Gotta...move...' the groggy thought finally reached her muscles and she summoned enough energy to sit up. She rubbed the crust out of her eyes and blinked multiple times; attempting to adjust them to the light the rising sun was giving off.
"7...good. We're on time." she said. Holly stood from her uncomfortable patio chair-I mean bed-and glanced inside. She laughed quietly to herself at the sight of everyone still passed out in different positions. "Well, I'm on time. I'll wake them up in a second." She took cautious steps on her way to her mini-fridge, not wanting to make too big of a noise just yet.

Yue Eztilli 02-22-2011 02:45 AM

((WOO Time skips))

Artemis fidgeted in her sleep, the sun hitting a broken mirror on the opposite wall then bouncing back into her face. She lightly groaned.
'damn, I was enjoying my sleep' Leaning her head down to avoid the light she sighed, maybe she could get a few more hours. She tensed and shifted her Scythe slightly when she heard some soft steps, but then relaxed when she remembered she was staying with friends for her journey that day. 'I wonder who is up' She cracked open her eyes, rubbing them with the back of her hand to get the crusty sleep out of them. Looked toward the kitchen to see who it was. "Ohayou (Good morning.), Holly" She greeted sleepy in the dame way she greeted her sister, with Japanese. She loved speaking the language for some reason, so she used it around those she trusted.

L a f a y e t t eFAN 02-22-2011 03:23 AM

Holly whipped her head in the direction of Artemis as soon as she spoke.
"Uhh...hi." Holly replied with a confused tone. She just wasn't sure what Artemis had said, but she figured it was positive so she shrugged it off and grabbed an apple out of the fridge.

Her body was clothed in the same wear as the other day; dirtied black tank top that flowed down to just above her belly button, dark jean shorts, and black buckle-up boots. She, as always, also wore the straps around her thighs that held her daggers. The only thing different about her was that her belt that held her gun was on the counter top, her bow and arrows were on the oh-so-comfy piece of furniture she had slept on, and her hair was out of it's hair-tie.

Holly looked to Artemis with a smile and held out the red fruit. "Breakfast?"

Derago 02-22-2011 09:25 PM

A young, shirtless, tattooed man traveled slowly down the street. He walked like a zombie, with his head down and long dirty hair strewn over his face, taking short steps with his arms hanging loosely. Half asleep and hallucinating like mad, his green eyes were scanning the street in front of him cautiously. A dark grey sun was rising in the blood red sky, casting a glow on everything around him. Shadows in the alleys were dancing before his eyes and he smiled inwardly knowing they danced for his lord. Suddenly the parrot squawked and awoke him from the hallucination. The wonderous grey that had once been light was again yellow and he sighed, cursing the parrot. Dero raised his head and shook the hair from his face, whispering something about how easily things change and how often they would pay. A mossy brick building caught his eye all of the sudden. There was grey bursting from every window and a chair on the patio stank of life. Not to mention the bow and arrow resting on it. Dero's eye twitched slightly and a smiled creeped onto the right side of his mouth. He moved next to a broken door near the front of the building and set his messenger's bag down, resting his shotgun on his lap and hanging his head down once more. The black parrot squawked loudly and flapped its wings to regain balance, then was quiet. Dero waited.

Katie Scarlett Divine 02-22-2011 10:34 PM

Aurora woke up to her usual nightmare, the dream that was exactly like the day they lost their parents. BUt lately the dream was that she lost everyone, Including Alex. She got up and stretched slightly before looking out of the window. "Breakfast would be nice.." She said to Holly who had been talking about breakfast. "I can cook if you'd like me too. I used to be a waitress and help out in the kitchens all the time at red lobster." She felt her eyes drift onto a shirtless boy with a gun outside in the street. He looked like a zombie and felt the need to grab a gun and shoot him while they could.. but she restrained herself. Zombies were once people too, and as long as they were not bothering her or her brother then she would leave him be. She gently pulled her hair into a bun and let her bangs fall into her face as she put her hair up. "Looks like we have company everyone."

Alex was still asleep on the kind of lousy sofa, his face lost in his crimson hair as he thought of a better time when there were no man eating zombies. A time when he had friends, family, and his sister. Ever since the zombies came she was a completely different person, full of worries and covers in scratches. Though he was too. It had been a tough year on them so he tried to think of the better days to come.

L a f a y e t t eFAN 02-22-2011 10:45 PM

"Well, sure! Why not." she hummed and analyzed the objects in the cooler before her. "I have a few eggs, and some bread...french toast without syrup sound good?" Holly laughed. Now more alert after Aurora's comment, Holly made her way to the slider door window; also making sure to flick Alex's head (to wake him up, of course).
Her dark orbs narrowed at the sight of the gunman. You couldn't spot him if your eyes weren't as trained as theirs were.

'He's hidden well...' Holly mused. The tone she used in her head turned more serious as her hand absent-mindedly reached for her gun still placed on the counter. 'Which could only mean bad news...'

Derago 02-22-2011 10:55 PM

Dero slowly raised his head at the sounds of people and voices. There were so many. It would be so fun. There was so much to do! He grinned with a devilish smile, chewing his tongue in anticipation. Closing his eyes he felt the parrot adjust again. Another loud squawk as it hopped around the man's forehead. It finally settled its long tail in with the rest of his hair and leaned down, latching onto his nose with its beak. Dero heard it...
"They feel you just as you feel them. You are not yet worthy of death. To be by his side is the ultimate honor. You have many more."
His nose twitched and the bird resettled on the top of his as he leaned his head down again. "No more... They have food... I need... Gun..." Dero cocked the shotgun to make sure it was loaded and took the Colt from its holster, cocking that as well. He set this down at his left side and continued waiting patiently, quietly.

((Ugh. Just realized how hard Mene text is to read xD Gimme a sec to make this easier on the eyes :P))

L a f a y e t t eFAN 02-22-2011 11:23 PM

[Lol alrighty. ^^]

Grumbling, Holly plucked her hand gun from it's resting place and made a pivot on her heel. This time she didn't bother quieting her footsteps for she was stomping out the door. "Be right back."

'I haven't made any enemies...I've been careful of that...' Holly thought. The girl made her way down the hall.

Then why would their be some random ass guy with a gun, aiming at her apartment complex? 'I don't know what it is but there's something creepy about him. And what's with that weird bird...'

Beside the point. Her new friends she was not suspicious of. They all seemed perfectly well-intentioned; except for the two little surprises that had destroyed her front door. Maybe it was their first impression (literally-a foot print on her door.), or maybe the little time she had spent in their company that had left her wondering about them. The worst Holly could think of was that they were one of those man-hunter gangs she had heard stories about from random travelers in the market place(s). Why they would be after anyone of them? Who knew. But Holly was too blind with conflicting emotions to actually think them innocent.

Her fist pounded on the door she had been meaning to reach. "Wake up! We need to talk!"

Derago 02-23-2011 12:05 AM

Dero's head jerked forward and the parrot spread its wings, flying to the floor just above and resting on a broken window sill. It pecked under its wing, but didn't squawk this time. The man slowly stood up with shotgun in his right hand, kicking his messenger's bag away from the building and into the street. He bent down, even slower than he had gotten up, and took the pistol in his left hand. He bent his elbow and rested the shotgun barrel on his left forearm, right on top of the words "Mortis est proprius" on the scythe. His grin widened and more hair fell in front of his eyes. "HEEEEEELLOO!" He yelled out. Unsure of whether or not the pounding was real. "C-c-come... Out and m-meet me!" His finger was on the trigger and suddenly his mind played out how the pellets would fly out and the trajectory of the blood that was about to be spilled. It was all such a wonderful shade of grey. If only it were real, he thought. "I MISSED YOU~!" He stepped back a few feet from the door and aimed directly at where the voice should come out.

Katie Scarlett Divine 02-23-2011 12:12 AM

Aurora watched as the girl went the obvious way and went over to Ace, sliding her gun out of his jacket since she had given it to him yesterday. She went over to the window and pushed it up before climbing out onto the fire escape. She was sure to be swift and quiet before she jumped down from it and came up behind the boy, pointing the gun to his head. "Put your gun down now." She said, her voice slightly cold. No one was going to get show today. She pointed the gun at the side of the building, shooting just by his leg and watching the bullet get stuck in the brick. It was an obvious warning. "And if you even try anything I'm not afraid to shoot at your crotch first before I kill you."

Alex woke up from all the flicks and felt his sisters gun be taken. He sat up and looked out the window seeing hissister threatening someone. He turned, sighing slightly and went over to the eggs to try and make breakfast.

Derago 02-23-2011 12:23 AM

Dero looked up and watch the parrot take flight once more. Its long tail trailed behind it and he sighed calmly, despite being shot at. "Why won't you go away?!" He stamped his foot, aiming the Colt awkwarldly trying to point at the girl behind him. His finger was not on the trigger because he had fewer bullets to waste on apparitions than he did shells. "You leave me to my work! Why are you interrupting?!" His eye twitched as his head cocked sideways. He was trying to get a better look at the girl, while also watching the door simultaneously.

L a f a y e t t eFAN 02-23-2011 12:25 AM

The sound of a gun being fired made Holly's blood run cold. Eyes widening.
"That's never a good sign..." she looked back to the door before her and took a deep breath; backing up to the wall. "I better not get shot again." with a cry, Holly charged forward, foot held high, and kicked the chipped door right off of it's rusty hinges. She let out a desperate "Sorry" to Conner and Kale, and ran out on to their balcony.

Holly's eyebrows rose in surprise when she saw Aurora with a gun to that strange man's head. With a growl she pointed her own gun down below; waiting for disaster to strike. The look in the man's eyes, Holly concluded, was an odd but dangerous mix. Deranged and calculating.

Yue Eztilli 02-23-2011 01:12 AM

Artemis had been watching the man below before anyone had noticed him, she had seen him walk up and had moved out of the way so he couldn't see her. She raised an eyebrow at how fast they reacted to his presence and labeled him as 'threat'.
Now she clicked her tongue as she watched the showdown, all aiming guns at one another. Sighing she slowly walked out the door, seeing as he was watching it. Her hands slightly up so he could see she wasn't 'armed', but she knew she could move fast enough to get her Sais if she needed to. She spoke softly to the girl behind him "Calm down and release your hold on him, attacking him is just making things worse, plus we don't have supplies to wast on false alarms." She turned to look him in the eyes, she could tell something was off about him, but he was relatively safe, if not spooked, reminded her of a horse. "And you stranger, should as well, you know you won't pull that trigger if you don't have to." She knew this wasn't like her portrayed character but she knew she could use the 'it annoyed me' excuse so she had decided to go ahead and intervene.

Katie Scarlett Divine 02-23-2011 01:16 AM

"My hold on him? He aimed at Holly.. I had to do something." She said, slightly agitated. She put her gun in herpocket, looking to the boy. She knew he now had a clear shot but she just crossed her arms and looked at him. "What exactly is your...'job' ?" She asked, brushing her crimson bangs out of her eyes as she watched him.
