Holly usually wasn't the one to get too upset over things...but now she had good reason to. If these people were gonna be spending time with her, she was going to have their backs. Which meant not only killing zombies, but also dealing with any other messed up being.
Taken aback by Artemis' demand, she still held her weapon up. Her eyes never left the man, but her words were directed at Artemis in a carefully harsh tone. "Are you crazy? He's obviously trying to get some sick kick out of killing one-maybe even all of us!" |
Dero's eyes shot to the new girl who had appeared and suddenly he dropped everything. Both guns hit the ground, which was a bad idea. Neither one went off, though. Dero dropped to his knees and bowed his head. This girl! She had THE WINGS. "You are the messenger.. I am at your service." For once, Dero didn't yell. He glared at the ground with fierce determination and balled his hands into fists. Artemis was apparently his idea of a Goddess of some kind.

Artemis mentally sighed, she looked back at Holly, but made sure to watch the two in front of her. "Holly." She said in her commanding voice, it was one she rarely use but it was her natural leader in her acting up when someone she wanted to protect wasn't doing something right or was foolish. "It's fine, I know you may not have the skill yet, but I'm able to read people quite well." Her voice going soft again "Just don't spook him, treat him like a normal person, and it's fine. I think he just has...a different mind set then we do...but I'm not completely sure how." She knew something was wrong with him, but she wasn't sure what, so this was hard for her to describe to another person who didn't have her instincts. When suddenly she heard thing drop, her head snapped back to the knew male. He was on the ground...bowing? 'what the hell' she thought. 'did he just say I have wings.' despite herself, she looked over her shoulder at her back just to be sure, then back at him. She smiled 'well then,...here goes nothing' She slowly walked forward, she knew it was stupid but hey it's what she does. Placing a hand on his head she said "Come now, stand up, were all equals here."

Aurora rolled her eyes. Ever since she lost her family she just couldn't let anyone get hurt anymore. Since Holly was Alex's age she had automatically protected her. "Read people my.." She mumbled a few words in french. "I'm going to make breafast for everyone.." She said softly, going threw the door and heading up the steps. She went into the apartment and began helping Alexander make food for everyone, while singing softly a song their mother used to sing often.

Dero was confused. He slowly raised his head, but would dare not look Artemis in the eyes. "Why... My lady... Do... No... I do not question.." He stood up, not bothering to brush himself off. He simply stared down at his own feet, continuing to clench his fists. There was blood dripping from his mouth from where he had chewed a small hole through his tongue with his canines. He let it drip, seeing life flow from his lips back to the earth, where it belonged. His eye twitched again.

Holly held back an eye-twitch as Artemis spoke to her. 'Skill? I don't have the skill?? I'm the youngest person here to survive this...this freaking zombie apocalypse and that's not enough skill for you?!' catching herself, Holly winced softly and began to lower her gun. Resentfully. 'Calm down, Hol. Artemis has a point. Just. Relax.'
With a great sigh, she climbed down the latter, jumping down when there were only a few steps left. Suddenly the man bowed. Holly now stood a few feet from him and Artemis. She crossed her arms and her narrowed eyes looked in an off direction. "You've gotta be kidding..." she mumbled but then put on her poker face. |
All of the noise that had been happening outside of the room had gone unnoticed by the two of them until a giant "hello" rang out and Holly ran out their balcony. For the first time in a long time they were able to get a deep sleep without the worries of watching over each other and some little shit decided to be stentorian? Jeane hated him already.
"I hope he shoots himself in the foot," Jeane muttered, strapping her hedge clippers to a harness on her belt. "Mad as you are, I'd rather make sure we can use him before you kill him" Zachary said, clearly trying to rub the frustration out of his own eyes. He approached the balcony and eyed the man, motioning for Jeane to come over. "My god, he looks like a pirate from hot topic," Jeane whispered to Zachary. "At the very least, all of his weapons blend into his skin," Zachary noted before grabbing his own weapons and leaping down. Jeane leaped down right after, though the both of them had only heard a snippet of their conversation. That scythe wielding girl was his messenger? What kind of messenger warranted that? Still worship was something even better than a blade. "So aside from serving your lady, what other purpose do you having here?" asked Zachary. He didn't have his weapon in an aggressive position but he wanted to show that it was still there. |
Alexander hummed quietly as he finished making breakfast for everyone. He was obviously uninterested with the boy outside and watched as his sister stared out the window the same way she did when she often was sad. His sister was a very beautiful girl, elegant and graceful from years of trying to be like thier mother who had been a ballerina for one of the most famous companies in Europe. But that was wayyyy before they were born. Alex had never wanted to learn ballet because he thought of it as girly and often tripped over his own feet so many times he would've been laughed at. He ran his hand threw his hair with a sigh.
Aurora looked back at her brother watching her and called out the window. "Everyone breakfast is done.." She said, running a hand threw her crimson hair as she spoke before walking away from the window. She stood next to her brother, helping him contribute the food on different plates for everyone. "Good job at making the food.. it looks delicious." |
Holly looked at Kale and Conner as they joined in the commotion. She didn't say anything, in fear that she'd still be upset and say something that would set everyone off. At the sound of Aurora's voice calling to them, Holly looked up, nodded, and then glanced at Artemis once again. Her face was neutral; but leaning towards a conflicted look.
"So. What do we do with the loon-uh...person...?" she asked. Holly still had to work on that whole 'catching herself' thing. |
Zeno perched himself in a window opposite of the corner where he had slept watching all the fuss go on with a crooked grin on his lips, this new guy had everyone in an uproar and it was entertaining to say the least. It did however bother him that he seemed to have some odd disposition towards Artemis but there was little the merc could do about it so he watched on allowing his feelings on the matter to roll off his shoulders.
Holly was flustered and it made for a cute scene and there was Artemis who didn't seem to know how to handle the guy with his different nature. The second set of siblings arrived on the scene after a while seeming to break down a bit of the tension that had built up but they just began their own rant about him. Poor guy. . . He was in the midst of a group who had made a natural connection overnight and were now defending one another, it was a beautiful sight. Zeno stood when he heard that the food was ready (usually one of few things that could make him move even if he didn't want to) and walked over to the table taking a seat. The food looked delicious and the male was not an ungrateful man, "Thank you for the meal, it looks amazing," he called out to the two who had prepared it. Then he added, "Ah, and good morning," he chimed remembering his manners. |
Aurora smiled a weak smile. "Morning to you as well." She said, handing him a plate of food and a fork. Alex and her had found all kinds of dishes in the apartment, then washed them. She wasn't exactly hungry at the moment since after she woke up she had to wait at least a half hour to eat or she felt sick. "How'd you sleep?" She asked him, sitting on the edge of the counter and looking over at him. Her brother continued to put food on different plates before getting himself one and starting to eat.

Dero shot an annoyed look at Zachary, one of the many bystanders who seemed to be joining his hallucination. The world was slowly fading to grey again. As his gaze turned back to the ground, he felt the blood flow into his Messenger's bone. The parrot floated back, landing on his hunched shoulder. Almost exactly as it landed, he snatched it up, letting the tail hang out from between his hands and petted it madly. He closed his eyes and shook his head and petted the parrot over and over again with one hand. It tweeted a sweet tone, loving the attention. When he opened them again the girl standing in front of him still had the grey wings wrapped around herself. Shapes and figures were returned to what the people around him might call normal. Everything was turning colored once more. But the wings were still there. He let out a little laugh as the sides of his mouth twisted into insane an insane smile, then bent down again and touched one fist to the ground, replacing the parrot to the top of his head. "I am your farmer. Here to reap your crops. Please show me the ones who must go."

Suddenly Holly became impatient and clenched her fists at her side. "Alright. I'm officially creeped out." Angrily, she stomped over to her fire escape and began climbing. "When you need me to shoot someone's brains out," she called out, "Let me know." Holly wasn't sure what had made her so touchy. Although, when things started to get too intense she sometimes became a little snappy. But she knew it was another way of dealing with her feelings; whatever they may be. She hated acting like such a little kid; for that's how people seemed to view her and she always wanted to prove them wrong. Her impulsive behavior probably isn't helping the cause. |
Breakfast? Yum, that sounded good. But what to do with the man from St. Crazy's Church of Insanity?
"There are no crops that are ready for pulling," Jeane answered, sounding entirely unsure of what she was talking about, "perhaps you should wait for more to be sowed." What the hell did that even mean? "Right...for now, we ought to eat and worry less about harvesting Kale," Zachary urged, undeterred by the man's look, "of course you are free to stand guard." |
Artemis shook her head a bit to clear her shock of what was happening. Sighing she gave up being indifferent. She grabbed the strangers hand then started dragging him back to where they were staying. "Come on I'm hungry, sides we need to head out before noon." Once they were back inside she forced him by the shoulders to sit on the couch. Pointing a finger at him she commanded "Stay" Then when into the kitchen to get her and him something. 'I feel like I'm taking care of a child now.....let alone loonies...I have no clue what to do', she thought to herself with a mentally sigh of frustration.

Smiling cheerfully the merc took his food and picked up the fork before saying a quick prayer over his food then replying, "I slept as well as one can sleep in such times. How about you guys?" Diving into his food, he almost wanted to eat faster than he should have but caught himself and decided to take his time and enjoy himself. After taking a few bites he paused and smiled at Alex, "You're a really good cook. Bravo sir."

"I only slept for a few hours.. but that's good compared to the time amount I usually sleep." She said, smiling a little when she saw that he liked the food.
Alex smirked. " Thanks, I learned from my sister." He said, looking at Aurora and glancing back at Zeno for his question. " I slept wonderfully, but of course my sister didn't since she worries so much.." He said, slightly mocking her for her problem. He knew it was only because she was looking out for him but he thought she worried to much. Aurora frowned slightly at what Alex said and stood up. "Enjoy your food." She said softly, walking back over to the window and peering out. |
Dero did as he was told, keeping his head down the entire time. He ignored everyone but Artemis and silently complied with her command to stay. His elbows rested on his knees as he sat and waited for her return. Dero's stomach growled loudly, upon being disturbed by the smell of food. In this environment it was beneficially to be able to fast, but even then you needed to eat at some point. His mind wandered, beginning to develop images that played out in front of him. It was a list of everything he had eaten in the past month, which turned out to be a can of beans and some age old soda he had found on a dying young man. At least.. The man had been dying before he met the deranged person sitting on the couch. He suddenly woke up from the day dream and shot a paranoid glance at the kitchen where everyone seemed to be. With only his knife, there was no way to get out of this if he needed. Another few imaged played out in which each person he had seen previously would shoot him as he fled to the window. "But my Messenger is here.. It will be okay." He thought to himself, cupping his hands over his mouth in habit.

Holly was surprised when she tasted the food. It was...really good. Better than she could ever do. She was more of a hunter? Not so much a cook. Except with roasted squirrel. She was pretty good with that.
Smiling, she looked up at Alex, swallowing what was left of her breakfast. "That was amazing, Alex. Glad you and Aurora are coming along with us." her vision strayed around the room. She decided to pretend like Dero wasn't even in her apartment. He made her uneasy. Most of her anxiety was from the way he acted towards Artemis; it was...odd. And for Holly, everything that has been odd, hasn't turned out good. 'For his sake, he better hope this time is different.' she thought to herself in a growl. |
Artemis added her thanks as she got her meal on a plate. When she was through she walked back out to Dero. She say him sitting with a hand covering his mouth, she raised an eyebrow, but shrugged it off as a habit. Placing a plate in front of him she smiled "here you go strange one." She then walked to the door of the kitchen so she could watch everyone. looking over everyone she smiled again "Yeah I had a good sleep, until the sun woke me." She started eating after chewing a bit she paused "So are the new siblings going to come with us on our trip or no, I need to know so I can make plans."

"I'm pretty sure." she took a second to think over Artemis' words and made a face. "They're siblings?" she asked as she made her way to the sink.

Artemis shrugged as she took another bite, after chewing she sighed "I guessed I have no clue...I'm not really good at knowing people, just how they work." she looked at Holly "Do you know if they are?"

At the sight of some actual food, as opposed to energy bars, Jeane had a smile on her face. The food reminded her of a happier time before the outbreak (when fresh food wasn't so scarce) and she didn't hesitate one moment to grab some for both herself and Zach. If they had issue, she supposed that she could pay them back somehow.
"Thanks," Zachary said, leaning against a wall as he ate. "No problem, though you ought to thank that boy's sister," Jeane said, pointing over to the girl peering out the window. "I'll make note of that later," Zachary said with a nod, "But even so, are we traveling with these people or rather will that deranged male be following them as well?" "Considering your history, he's only slightly more deranged than you are," Jeane quipped, biting into her breakfast, "besides, he does have some good weapons on him." "I know that, but I'm more concerned with his devotion to that messenger of his," Zachary explained, "it could prove to be just as big a liability as a benefit." Of all things, Zachary did not want the man to go crazy in some way that'd result in mass shootings; however, if the man was willing to give his life to the white haired woman, it would be one less person to protect and one more set of guns to use. Such decisions would need some time. |
She shrugged as well after turning from the sink and leaning against it with her arms crossed.
"No clue." Holly's lips pursed while she looked them over. "They don't look similar. They probably crossed paths and decided to team up?" she questioned. |
Artemis nodded her head slowly in agreement. She looked back at the loony. "What are we going to do about him. You know he's going to be fallowing me." She shook her head "How did I become the 'messenger' of his" Sighing she finished her food "oh well, at least it makes the trip more interesting" she mused.
