Brief Story Line

The Lady Knight Alys and her forces is sent to clean out a castle her nobleman has found in his forest. In her duties she finds something she had not expected.

Username: Lilith W
Character Name: Lady Knight Alys
Nickname: just Alys
Age: 19
Gender: female
Race: human
Personality: Ever changing. In front of the lords, especially her own, she is the perfect knight. Which is to say her only personality trait is loyal. In front of commoners she is the kind protector. She is only open and herself in front of her team. She is a nice person who just wants to help. She has a foul sense of humor from training with mostly men. With her team she is the one that starts, and wins, all drinking games. She secretly cares for sick or hurt animals and donates to people.
Bio: Alys is the illegitimate child of a noble and his mistress. She lived with her mother for the first five years of her life till her mother died. The nobleman took her in as a servant. Two years later Alys decided she wanted to be one of the few lady knights. The nobleman pulled strings until she was taken as a page. In exchange she could never see him again or try to get any more of her birthright from him. She agreed and was sent across the country to a nobleman named Lord Geoffrey Bolbek at the edge of a vast forest. After hard work she became a knight and was given a squire and a team of her own.
Other:

Mira-Charma13 02-10-2011 03:48 AM

Username: Mira-Charma13

Character Name: Miration Ceinlys

Nickname: (if one) Mira, or Mimi (as an annoying associate of his tends to call him by)

Age: Twenty, almost twenty-one

Gender: Male

Race: Unknown (very odd-looking...has black feathered wings and naturally two-toned hair, and can shift his shape)

Personality: Cold, calm, and collected. Mira is very distant from other people and a loner. He prefers to be away from people and therefore has chosen a remote location in a castle that's been abandoned for years as his home. No one else knows he's there. He can be a bit caustic and unkind at times, mostly because he is not used to being around others.

Bio: Little is known about Mira's past, other than he has/had a sister and was once chased out of a smaller nearby village when someone found out that he dabbles on both sides of the fence relationship-wise.

Other:

Weapon of Choice: Odd magic that takes on the form of bluish, black, and whitish light. He can also use twin blades.

Lady Knight Alys once again realized how much she hated her noble. He came up with the weirdest duties for her. One time he had given her a task to find five hundred red feathers. She had explained that was not her job but he had demanded. So she had gathered her people and found all the feathers. After presenting them she found that he had not even wanted them. He had them simply thrown out.

And now he was demanding that a castle be cleared out. He had his own castle and the one he wanted was stuck in a forest that would be impossible to live in. He had even said it was smaller and in worse shape then his own but still he wanted it.

She sighed and gritted her teeth. She knew he was just trying to get her to leave. He did not approve of women fighters let alone knights.

She gathered her team and her weapons and set off. On the way they chatted friendly amoungst themselves but when they reached the castle everyone was suddenly silent. Alys and her squire dismounted. "Everyone knows what to do right? Seperate and go look for any animals. I doubt anyone lives out here but keep an eye out. If there is any big debris try to clear it out. If he wants it cleaned though he can send out the maids." The others broke off and went to look around leaving the knight and squire alone. "I suppose we should go in too. Come Squire."

"Yes, Lady Knight."

Mira-Charma13 02-10-2011 04:56 AM

Mira knew the exact moment when someone set foot on the castle grounds. He didn't hear them. He didn't see them. He just...knew.

And he was not happy about it. He was a private sort of man and even though this was not by name his property, he did not appreciate having strangers setting foot anywhere near his temporary home. He only used the kitchen and one bedroom. Most of the other rooms were in grave states of disrepair, but he kept the kitchen and his bedroom up and running. No need to have a fancy place to live...that would attract unneeded attention to the place.

That was something he sure as shit didn't want. He was alone, and he liked it that way. Having too many people around was just a bother to him.

He was not afraid when he heard the strangers entering his house. He simply slid his blades out from beneath his pillow and sat at the edge of the bed, waiting for the intruders to reach his room. He had been in the middle of a rather nice nap and was irritated that he'd been disturbed.

But he wasn't feeling violent today. He just wanted them to leave...he would fight if he had to.

Lilith W 02-10-2011 05:21 AM

Alys loved her squire Rose. She was like a sister. But having her follow everywhere was annoying. On top of that it slowed everything down. If she would go look around they could get this over with so much faster. Alys wanted to go home and do real work. She had heard there was a wild boar bothering some of the farmers.

After a few more rooms she finally had had enough. "Rose go look around by yourself. I don't need you here and we can leave sooner of you split off from me."

"Fine Lady Alys."

Alys watched the girl walk away before continuing. She walked through several rooms before she started noticing that the place was not covered in dust. Some parts were actually rather clean. She decided to follow the cleanist hallway. It ended in a door. Alys put her hand on her sword before opening the room.

It took a few seconds for her eyes to adjust but as soon as they did she saw that there was a man inside. "Sir this is the Lord's land and castle. You can not be here. We have come here to clean the place out for him. You must leave."

Mira-Charma13 02-10-2011 05:58 AM

"This has been my home for a little over a year. Your so-called 'lord' has not made any moves on claiming this castle as his until now. Therefore, I am not leaving."

There was a twinge of bitterness to Mira's voice...and perhaps a bit of a condescending attitude. Understandable enough, seeing as he'd just had what he'd called home for a while now barged into by a troupe of strangers. He clicked his blades together somewhat threateningly in his hands. They weren't his main weapons against intruders, but seeing as this one appeared to be a knight he didn't want to use deadly force just yet.

People were bound to notice a knight going missing. He could not risk having attention drawn to himself. That was the last thing he needed...being what he was.

Lilith W 02-10-2011 06:11 AM

Alys noticed for the first time that there was something different about this man but it was so hard to tell with it being so dark inside. It looked like he had something drapped behind him. She heard the clicking of the knives and drew her sword. "I would not move you from your home but my lord has commanded me. I can not go back without you gone. He will come here and find you and my honor as a knight will be gone. I will not a piece of slime like him ruin my honor. Leave now or I will make you leave!"

Alys did feel bad. This man was right. No one had wanted this castle or the land. The lord did not even want it now. It was just a stupid power play. But that did not change the matter.

Mira-Charma13 02-10-2011 06:16 AM

Mira heard her draw her sword and snorted lowly, looking unimpressed. He wasn't afraid of some knight's little kitchen knife. He had blades, of course...but he could do a lot more damage with his main weapon. His powers. He wasn't human, see...

He was something else.

What that something else was was a mystery to most people. He did not share his past or his secrets with people, most of the time. He was a private person...a loner.

"...I will not leave unless I have a place to call home," he half-compromised, finally.

((Hey, hun, I'm heading to bed. I don't feel so well. :( ))

Lilith W 02-10-2011 06:28 AM

Alys sighed and lowered her sword slightly. She was too nice. "I live just inside the forest. The rest of my team lives there. So five people other then myself. But it is really three houses. My house of the group only houses myself and my squire. If you would like you could stay there."

Right after moving down she had done as all other knights and moved in with the nobleman. But the first night he had tried to sneak into her room she had moved out. Her team had gone with her and they had gone to the forest. They had rough camped until they built their houses. She had paid for everything and continued to but in return they had helped make the houses. There were extra rooms and she couldn't seem to stop helping others.

"Just know that if you try anything it better be with violence in mind. We believe in asking before going in someone's room. And you should know that the two other females in the group are off limits. One is my squire and the other is in a relationship with another member. I have two other male members and they are together. If you have a problem with that or can't keep your mouth shut I'll have no problem kicking you out."

((That's ok, I was just getting ready to say good night))

Mira-Charma13 02-11-2011 04:06 AM

"...Then I will need to transport my things."

Mira did not own a lot...but what he did own was important, and he couldn't carry it all on his own. He would need a horse or even a small wagon to take his belongings out of the castle. He had some clothing, some food items, and a few personal items from back home. These personal items took up the most space...they were all sorts of different things, such as portraits, weapons, and even little trinkets from a time long passed...

He was a man of few words, from the way he spoke. Definitely a loner...he appeared to lack a sense of humor and didn't display many emotions, either. What in the world could have happened to make him that way...?

Lilith W 02-11-2011 04:28 PM

Alys was amazed the man agreed to live with them. She had offered but she had expected something different. She reshethed her sword but kept her eyes on his weapons.

"Well then I guess we're in luck. There happen to be two war horses outside who are used to being pack mules. And there are five people walking around here that can easily be packed down. If you would start packing I'll go get the people."

Alys walked out of the room and walked to the first common room she found. It was a central room that had many entrances. She gave a very loud whistle and listened. There was one whistle very close and she soon heard a person running from the direction the whistle had come from. She heard a few more far off. She waited and slowly her team slowly started coming in. When her team had all come in she waved for silence.

"It appears that this is not just a rubbish run. There is a man living in this castle. He appears to be a fighter of some sort. He started to defend himself with knives. He has no where to go and we came to an agreement. He is coming back with us."

There was a small uproar at this.
"We can't let him stay," Brom yelled. "This is a trap. You can't trust everyone," Rose said quietly.

Before anyone else could comment Alys raised her hand. "This is not up to you. I am the leader here and the house is mine. I will not throw a man out of his home with no where to go for a stupid reason. He is coming. You will be polite. And you will be carrying his stuff." She paused for a second before continuing. "Don't think I only do this from the goodness of my heart. I don't plan on staying under this lord for ever. Every person I can help, every fighter I can bring under me will put me one step closer to getting us away."

She turned and started leading the way back to the man. The others followed behind her knowing they could not change her mind.

Mira-Charma13 02-14-2011 05:34 AM

When the knight left, Mira just sat there for a long moment and internally cursed his luck. He did not feel like making this move today. He didn't even feel like getting up out of bed, seeing as he'd been enjoying a rather nice nap before the knight and her team had interrupted it.

Nevertheless, he set down his knives and forced himself to get out of bed. He had five outfits, a portrait of someone that he was keeping covered--he didn't want any questions being asked, quite a few sheets of paper wrapped up together in rope, some books, a few writing utensils, some ink, his bedsheets and pillow, and his knives and everything that he used to keep them in tip-top shape.

Other than that, he had food. It would be a waste to leave it here and let it go bad, so he bustled out of his room and to his small kitchen. He only had two loaves of bread left...nevertheless, he felt odd about wasting food.

By the time he made it back to his room and had packed up everything as neatly as he could, he heard footsteps in the hallway, which announced the return of the knight and perhaps her friends as well.

Lilith W 02-14-2011 03:39 PM

Alys marched her team back to the room. This time she knocked on the door but did not wait for a response. Instead simply opened the door and walked in. The others walked in behind her. As they came in she introduced them. "This is my squire Rose. Hurt her in any way and I will pull your spine out of your mouth. Next is Malkyn and then her husband Brom. They are both extremely talented with bows and spears. Then you have Ulric and his partner Terrowin. Their my strenght fighters since they use axes. And this is...," she turned back to the new man, "actually I don't think I ever got your name. Anyways, they will carry your stuff. Anything large, unweildy, or heavy the horses can carry. Swiftflight and Stormbringer by the way. Oh, I would also like to give some advice. The horses are warsteeds. Don't try to ride them. They will only accept me or Rose. Now then, everyone get to work. We need to get back, get him settled in, and I need to go make nice with a horrible lord. So, what is your name?" She finally stopped talking and turned to him.

Mira-Charma13 02-20-2011 02:57 AM

Miration barely paid attention to the knight when she began to introduce her team--he managed, however, to place names with faces quite easily, so it wasn't likely that he would forget their names after a few days of being with them. Noticing that he was outnumbered, he idly scooped up his knives again and sheathed them this time. He did not feel like fighting anymore.

"I don't ride horses unless I absolutely have to. I was almost killed by one as a child," he muttered, his eyes gaining a sort of haunted look. "And I..." He reached out and grabbed the portrait, which took up both of his arms, "...will carry this. It's delicate, and I would rather not have anyone else touching it."

Lilith W 02-20-2011 03:23 AM

Alys noticed how he didn't mention his name and how he grabbed his blades. He also held on to the painting a bit too tightly but it was a painting so maybe he was just worried about it. "Well then. Let's go. I'm tired of this day already."

She walked quickly out of the room. The others grabbed stuff before following her. None of them looked to see if the man was following them. Alys never looked back to see if any of them followed. She simply knew they would. The others packed up the horses as she waited. As soon as that was done she started walking back to her house. It would take no longer with them walking since on the way they had to hold the horses back to the rest of the teams pace.

Before long they reached the house. "Rose show him to his room. Get the stuff off my horse. I'm leaving know to see the lord." She waited for Swiftflight to be made ready. As soon as she was ready Alys jumped on her back and took off.

Rose watched Alys leave then turned to the man. She bowed slightly. While she might not like this it was her duty to be polite. "This way sir." She led him to the last room opened in the house she and Alys shared.

Mira-Charma13 02-24-2011 06:45 AM

Miration did not get tired walking back with them...seeing as he didn't care for horses, he always had to walk when he traveled. Usually he was very lazy and didn't want to do too much walking around...but he had to go into a nearby town for supplies, so he had to walk a little bit of distance each and every week. It kept him in shape.

He held onto the portrait carefully while he walked. He also managed to keep it covered for the most part...a slight gust of wind blew the tarp he had over it up slightly and a shock of white-blonde hair was all that was visible before he tugged the tarp back down, with more force than necessary.

While Miration was being led to what would now be his room, he glanced around the house curiously. He appeared to almost be mapping it out with his eyes.

Lilith W 02-25-2011 01:07 AM

Alys quickly rode Swiftflight back to her lord's castle. When she arrived she swung off and simply left her horse where she was. Everyone knew by now not to bother the horse. She strode through the halls confidently. She reached the inner room that Lord Geoffrey was always found in. Alys was waved into the room and she went inside walking straight to where he was sitting. She knelt infront of him bowing her head. "My lord I am back from the castle. There is no one in the castle and all the objects have been removed. All that is left is general cleaning which a knight is hardly needed for. Do you need me for any other duty my lord or may I go home for the day?"

Geoffrey smiled down at the woman. He hated her as a knight but she was pretty. Someday she would realize her mistake thinking she could be a knight and she would leave the folly. And he would be kind enough to extend his hand in help. He would take her as a mistress. He thought about sending her off on some other worthless duty but decided against it. He was suprised though that she had found nothing in the old castle. He had heard a magic user lived out there. He had hoped she would either find it too hard and quite or that she would have brought him a new slave. But it looked like it had just been rumors. "No, that is all I need for the day. Be back tomorrow I may have work for you then." He waved her off already turning back to the other nobles.

Rose watched as the man mapped out the house. She did not care though. Everyone who lived here had done that. "Lady Alys will be back shortly. She will probably want to see you when she gets back but till then enjoy your room." She opened the door, bowed, then turned walking away. She had chores she needed to do and she had been polite long enough.

Alys rode home slower then before. When she got back she groomed the horses. She walked back inside to see what everyone was doing.

Mira-Charma13 02-26-2011 08:42 AM

Miration was the only one who had not left his assigned room, yet. He was busy setting what few belongings he had in their proper places. His most treasured belonging appeared to be that odd portrait that he always kept covered. It was a portrait of a person--someone that long ago Miration had been separated from.

He was not a very sociable person, no. There had only been one person, besides the few lovers he had had in his lifetime, that he had ever gotten along with. Strangely enough, this person was so terribly different from Miration that the pair tended to annoy each other to the brink of insanity when they were together. But somehow this stark difference brought them together.

Miration's companion had left one day to visit an associate. Miration waited for him to return all day. One day turned into two days, then to a week, then a month, then two months...many years passed, and this companion of his had not returned. Miration could only assume the worst had happened. Still, he had never given up looking. His dear friend was rather helpless-looking, but like Miration could use some rather powerful magic...

When he finished setting everything in his new room up, he laid the covered portrait against the bed and sat down, intending on relaxing for a moment.

Lilith W 02-26-2011 04:09 PM

Alys found Rose outside chopping wood. She nodded at Rose then continued inside. Malkyn and Ulric were inside cooking. They had become close friends and were the only people that could cook well. Alys could survive if she needed to but that wasn't fun. As she continued walking she heard the noise of Brom and Terrowin in the practice court. When she looked out at them she could hear them also complaining about the newest arrival.

At the mention of him she turned towards the room he was put in. She knocked on his door.

Mira-Charma13 03-04-2011 04:20 AM

"Come in."

Miration's voice was calm. He didn't mind being interrupted...he hadn't been doing anything important, anyway. When the door opened, he glanced up somewhat wearily. He hadn't slept yet since his arrival here. That covered portrait was still resting up against the side of his bed...all the way here he'd clutched it to himself tightly, as if he'd been afraid that someone might snatch it away from him.

"Thank you for your hospitality. You did not have to take me in..."

Lilith W 03-04-2011 05:04 PM

Alys walked into the room shutting the door behind her. She had changed into more comfortable clothing and had let her hair down. It now rested comfortably at mid back and was tied back with a simple peice of twine. She had left her armor and most of her weapons in her room. She still had her sword placed at her hip. She unhooked the sword and scabbard then sat on the floor. She leaned her blade next to her. She then looked up at the man. She waved off the last comment. "I don't have to do anything I do and yet I'm a knight. No I help the ones I can. Don't think I do it all out of the kindness of my heart. I saw how you handled those blades. Every person and every fighter I tie to myself gets me one step closer to getting a new lord."

She stopped and looked at him for a moment. "But we have more important things to talk of. Like your name. You still have not told us it. And as to why my lord was suprised when I told him no one was in that castle. Why would he care about you?"

Mira-Charma13 03-09-2011 04:34 AM

"My name is Miration. You may call me Mira, for short, if you'd like," the man replied, simply. He shifted a little where he sat, the slightest flash of uneasiness creeping its way across his face before it vanished into thin air. Someone had known he was living there. It wasn't a complete surprise to him. No...he knew that some people were bound to know about his presence there. He just wondered how that man had found out in the first place.

"...Perhaps he knew I was there?" he suggested, idly. "I am a powerful warrior in my own right. I used to be a mercenary for hire..." That was true, at least. He had sold his warrior services out to people and conducted assassinations, kidnappings, and raids. All by himself. "Any greedy noble would want me on his side just for that reason."

When he moved his leg around, he knocked it into that portrait and it wobbled a bit before he steadied it, making sure it was not damaged. It obviously meant a lot to him.

Lilith W 03-09-2011 04:33 PM

Alys noticed his unease and noted it down. "Mira..." She tried to think if she knew that name but she could not place it. She placed her head on her hand and looked up at him trying to evaluate him. He looked like a fighter but he did not look powerful. No he looked more like he was fast but she knew, from her own style, that fast could look like strong.

"Maybe, though that worries me. Since I've come here all he has shown that he knows is that he doesn't approve of women anywhere but in a bed or kitchen, fashion, and what is going on with the high court." A warrior and ex-mercenary would be a good addition to her team but he had been hiding in the woods. There had to be a reason. "Well at least the greedy part is right." She sighed thinking about the pig of a noble she served.

She watched him with the painting. "You know, if you want that hung up we can do that."

Mira-Charma13 03-15-2011 03:04 AM

"...I...have been chased out of towns before in the past," Miration admitted, quietly. "Perhaps rumors of a...sorcerer...would make more sense to you?" There was a slightly guilty tone to his voice when he spoke, and he would not look at her. He had powers, indeed. Several different powers. Unlike most of his kind, he did not specialize in one field. He was what they called a 'jack of all trades.'

When she commented about his painting, he glanced down at it quickly and back up at her. He repeated this three times. After the third time, he pursed his lips a bit.

"...How well do you know the area?" he asked, suddenly. "Would you recognized a very unique-looking person if I showed you a picture?"

Lilith W 03-15-2011 03:29 AM

Alys stared at him for a moment. "Well your in good company then. We were all run out of our home towns or at least not welcomed in them anymore." She pursed her lips then smiled showing a toothy grin. "That would explain a lot. It also gives me a reason to keep you from him. He doesn't need that kind of power and even if you don't fight for us or stand by us you will be helpful. I doubt you would let your stuff burn and magic would be helpful if there was a fire." She really had picked out a good one. And while this news could cause problems this did help. If he had been a normal fighter she might have eventually told her lord that she had brought on another fighter but she wouldn't have lied instead continue going around the truth. Now she would lie to keep this secret. She wanted to learn more about him but she knew sometimes things were better left unsaid.

She watched as he looked back and forth between him and the painting. It must be important to him. "Well like I said I am rather new to the area. I have a very good memory for people but I haven't met many people around here. I only know a few of the nobles, including the lord, and a handful of the farmers. Since getting here I have spent much more time here then elsewhere." She stopped then looked at him and the painting again. It was important to him so she continued. "If I see a person though I always remember them. I know all the people around here, that I've seen, by face."
