Claire walked with a proud strut, head up, shoulders back, and a smile on her face. She greeted each person who said ‘Hi’ to her in the hallway with the warmest of smiles and excitement in her voice, gleeful to see them even if she had no idea who they were.

She wore a white jean skirt, a baby-pink pink spaghetti-strap tank top, a white jean mini-crop jacket, and pink-strap sandals with white soles. Her bangs held folded behind her ears with a baby-pink headband, two folded over white hearts behind the left ear. Upon first glance at her tall, thin, large-breasted figure in all that pink, one would assume Barbie had just walked by.

Behind her, four very handsome and muscular young men followed carrying her luggage. Two large pink suitcases carried by one, another carried a third suitcase and a duffle-bag- also pink and decorated with white butterfly patches. The third carried with great difficulty, a large box with the name ‘Rosie’ on the front, and the fourth carried a fluffy white Persian cat with large blue eyes and a flat face. Upon arriving at her dorm she used her key to unlock it and walked in.

The room itself was just so bland! Boring beige walls, a grey carpet, one window in the middle of the outer wall with beige blinds and white curtains… uck. Even the furniture was depressing, two simple wooden beds with white bedding stood symmetrically on opposite sides of the room, wooden end tables separated the beds from the walls, and boring beige lamps were set up on each end table. At the foot of each bed was a trunk for belongings, with a pillow top to make a seat when closed. In the corner between the inner wall and the side walls were two dressers for clothing.

“Okay boys, just set them down on the right of the room and we’ll go back to get the next load.” Claire said, turning to the four who were more than happy to set down their labour.

“Wait… there is more?” one asked.

“Of course silly, this isn’t a slumber party, I’ll be here for months. I can’t get by on just my overnight bags.” Claire replied with a smile and a giggle. “Don’t you worry, when we’re done here we can all go get ice-cream.”

“I like ice-cream.” The second replied with a dumb smile and a glazed over look in his eyes. She gave a satisfied smile and shut the door again, leading them back to the foyer where the rest of her luggage was waiting.

Keira sat in the car, hesitant about getting out. She stared at the school through the window, the place she had been working to get into since kindergarten.

"What's wrong Kitten?" Her father Jet inquired.

"Nothing." she replied. "I'm just... greeting my future." He smiled at her response and finished his cigarette, putting it out in the ash-tray and brushing some hair behind his ear.

"I can't even start to tell you how proud I am." he told her. "C'mon, I'll help you with your stuff."

"You promise to behave inside?" She asked with a small grin. "The girls here might be old enough, but that doesn't mean they're old enough for you."

"Don't worry, I'll be good." he replied, rolling his eyes. "Seriously, how big a slut do you think I am?"

"The biggest of course." She insisted undoing her seat-belt and getting out of the car. She only had two suitcases, one for clothing and one for the bedsheets she brought from home. Her backpack was full of trinkets and other homey accents, and her overnight bag had her basic toiletries. She used the map they mailed her and managed to find her dorm room.

Someone had already piled their stuff on the right hand side, so she put hers on the left.

"So, do you want me to mail your posters and everything?" Jet asked.

"I'll write if I decide yes, but for now I just want to keep things uncluttered." she replied. Jet hesitated, a smile on his face as he watched her unpack. He gave her a kiss on the forehead before he headed towards the door.

"I'll call when I get home." he told her. "You can tell me if you're room-mate is hot or not."

"You're a creep!" She replied. He chuckled before he left, and headed down the hallway to leave the dorms.

Claire was ecstatic to see a fiery red-head with ice blue eyes standing by her luggage, her own group of boys ready to carry the bags upstairs.

“Robyn!” Claire greeted with a big smile, running up and hugging her. The guys left to bring the bags up while Claire caught up with her bestie.

“Hey Clara, it’s been ages!” Robyn replied with a laugh.

“Long? It’s only been a month since you saw her at my party.” Said an Indian girl as she approached with her pretty black friend. Netri, was her name, and she was rarely seen without Saran by her side.

“Yeah, which is ages!” Claire insisted with a laugh. “I was just telling these boys that Me and Robyn are going to get ice-cream, and they can come too since they were so nice to me.”

“You mean to say ‘Robyn and I’ sweetheart.” Saran corrected her.

“Whatever.” Robyn replied with a giggle. Only a moment later three more girls arrived to join them. Talise, Aesha and Jun.

“Hey the gang is all here!” Claire said with a smile. “Is everyone settled in?”

“We’re all set.” Saran replied.

“We’re not, but hell I can unpack later. I don’t feel like doing it now.” Talise said with a shrug.

“Aren’t you rooming with Jun this semester?” Claire asked Robyn.

“Yeah, I’m totally gonna keep her up all night with my snoring.”
Robyn replied. The girls laughed, Robyn did snore but it wasn’t very loud or constant, but it was fun to joke about.

“So what’s this I hear about going for ice-cream with some fine boys?” Jun asked with a grin.

“Oh they helped me move my stuff to my room. I said we’re all going out for ice-cream and they can come too.” Claire explained yet again. “Speaking of which, I really should go let them into the room. I’ll be right back!”

“Don’t keep us waiting.” Aesha ordered jokingly. Claire was up the stairs and at her dorm as quick as she could, but it seemed the door was already open and the guys were on their way back.

“Go ahead I’ll meet you downstairs.” She told them. She headed into the room and saw a girl with a very large rack, but a very masculine face. “Oh… Hi… you must be my roomie?” She couldn’t help but notice how dark and gloomy the girls clothes were, it made her cringe a little… she didn’t hate the Goth look, but it was so out of place outside Halloween.

"That I am." Keira replied to the blonde girl. "Anne greenwood, pleased to meet you." In truth, she was rather perturbed by this girls appearance, and unaware that the feeling was mutual. She looked like the type who talked on the phone for hours in a disrupting manner rather than studying, and possibly someone high maintenance and too prissy for actual work.

"May I ask your name?"

She had replaced the sheets on her bed with her own linens, and put most of her clothes away. But she was still in the process of putting her books up on the top of the dresser, mostly Shakespearean hard covers, and she kept them propped up with her Celtic-knot cat book ends. The dresser was protected by a black lace cloth, the edges of which gently draped over the edges giving a feminine yet dark look. She moved the lamp from her night-stand to the floor and put another black lace cloth over the top of the night-stand. Replacing the lamp was a Celtic-knot cat candle holder, which had come as a set with the book-ends, so most of her belongings were unpacked. The walls were still so beige though, and she was wondering about getting some posters to cover it up.
