Mellie stared at the ground, thinking. "I've found no one at all..No one..." she whispered, staying on the ground. Her mouth went dry again, almost numb. She stood up and grabbed her cup, filling it up to the rim and drinking it quickly. Her stomach turned, and the water came back up, unexpectedly. She just filled it again and began to drink, the acid. from the water before coming back up from her stomach, burning the back of her throat.
~ Lucifer stopped and looked at her. "Only a picture...?" he looked away. He didn't even have that. Just the necklace and a scarf with her scent on it, that he kept on his bed, next to the pillow. Leaning back, he brought Scarlett with her, after her mentioning the kiss. "How about you..Sleep with me?" he asked, grinning wide. Usually, he would be joking, but he was serious. He didn't mean sex. If he wanted sex, he'd tell her bluntly that he wanted to have sex with her. He meant sleep, as in, in their pajamas, under the covers, eyes closed, asleep. |
Scarlett laid back with him and put her head on his shoulder. "Sounds like a plan." She said, one of her hands playing with his hair gently as she thought. "Though id have to leave to do my act.. but 'll come back once i'm done."She tried to think of what to do for her act.. but nothing came to her mind. Only flips and twirls but that wouldn't make anyone but the guys look at her. She could tell he didn't mean sex, which she wouldn't have had sex with him unless he loved her anyways. But she liked the idea of sleeping with him instead of being in her lonely tent. She put her hand on his chest, not purposefully but mostly because it just felt comfortable to her. "I'm at a loss as to what to do for my act.." She groaned. "All I know how to do is a few flips and spins. Nothing eye catching."

Rythen could hear that she was sick but he didn't turn around. He had hurt her. But he could not leave her. He couldn't leave one more person when they needed help. He had left all of his people, his very family and ran to save his own life and Ahanna's. But he knew in that moment he had run only for himself. He knew that if he left and the hunters got her he would be broken beyond repair. The only reason he hadn't killed himself from guilt of leaving so many to die was because he had to stay with Ahanna. He had to protect her and then he had found this new home. It had made things better for him. He had a new family to protect and to love. And he was losing one of them. The one he cared for more then the others and the one he had just met.

Mellie finished her water and looked back to Rythen, who was now sitting down. She wanted to walk over and pat him on the back, tell him everything was okay, but instead, she simply said, "You and me both, bud." Her eyes darted from the man to the sink. Quickly, she got more water, but stopped before her body rejected it again. "No one deserves to love...We're all pathetic idiots!" she cried out, slamming the glass down. In a split second, the glass shattered in the silence after her outburst. "Oh shit..." she said, her voice high and soft. He stared at her bleeding hand, the glass sticking out of her palm. Sighing, she winced as she cleaned up the glass with her bare hands.
~ Lucifer smiled and held onto the woman. "They will love you, my dearest," he reassured her, squeezing her softly. She blew him away with one look...It must be like that with other men, and probably women. They were most likely all jealous of her beauty, body, and talent. "You are a natural..." he nuzzled her softly, under her chin, and rubbed her arm. "Kiss for good luck?" he asked, nibbling her ear softly. |
Scarlett felt her pale face blush and nodded slightly, leaning her head to his and kissing him softly on the lips. Tonight was turning out to be an amazing night and even though she felt fairly nervous.. she hoped that they would love her like Lucifer said. She liked the feeling of his lips touching hers so continued the kiss longer as she realized what she would do for her act. Kissing him gave her ideas? She of course had her eyes closed, hating eyed open kisses since they were akward to her.

The moment Rythen heard the glass shatter he jumped up, spun around, pulled out a pair of his juggling knives, and looked for an attack. When he realized Mellie had broken the glass he put the knives back up. He moved quickly over to her. "I don't supose your kind has any healing abilities? If not you should have Ahanna give you something so it does not become infected." He pulled out a sash that was used to hold all the blades in his pouch. It would be clean enough for now. He took her hand and carefully wrapped it up. "If you need it she can give you something for pain. Though if you need that I hope you like tea since that is the only way she infuses it. It isn't as easy to abuse a drug when you have to boil and steep it."

Lucifer kissed back, pulling Scarlett even closer. He ran his hand up to her neck, and closed his eyes. Her body was so warm, it sent chills up his spine. Leaning his head back, he watched her, running his thumb under her bottom lip. He smiled softly, rubbing her back softly. He felt attached to her, and everything in the world revolved around she and him. There were no disruptions, no people, no bugs, no animals...Nothing. Just Lucifer and Scarlett. He closed his eyes and yawned softly, his head swarming with thoughts of the future. Smiling wider, he grunted with satisfaction and wiggled around to scratch his back, but it wasn't working. He spent the next few minutes squirming, trying to get that right spot.
~ Mellie swatted his hand away and glared at him. "Just leave me alone!" she yelled, her emotions getting the better of her. Almost in an instant, she stopped and watched him, her eyes wide with astonishment at what she just said to him. Slowly, she looked away and bowed. "I'm sorry...I've been nothing but a nuisance since my arrival...You have done nothing wrong..." she whispered, still bowing. She stared at her feet and the ground. Her green shoes were dirty, her hands were dirty...And yet, she felt like she was dying of thirst. |
((Hey everyone!! So Cloaked Hatter had to quit the rp so were just going to pretend her characters were never there! So whoever is after her characters performances (Quarter_Queen) may post there's now! I'm going to post as Zalia and say that "intermission" is over!))
---------- Snapping her fingers Zalia appeared in the center of the stage surrounded in smoke once more. She gave the audience a bow for their applause, looking up with a smile. "Intermission is now over and the next act is up! Here is Doll the puppeteer!" This time she simply vanished without any smoke. Let them think hard about that one. Appearing back stage she walked over to a chair and sat down, her head resting in her hands. She was worried about the hunters, she had spotted a few in the crowds using a spell. Vanishing from her spot she popped into her tent where she grabbed her staff then went back to where she was backstage. In her lap she now held onto her black ornate staff. It had silver engravings all over it and at the top was a ball of glowing white light that was trapped between small black bars. That's where some of the energy and magic of the circus were trapped. The staff had been passed down generation to generation along with the circus. The two completed each other. Having seen where Scarlett had went earlier the twins now went to Lucifer's tent and stood outside. Chenol knocked on a wooden post by the entrance and Azra spoke. "Hey Scarlett Doll is up then us and then you. Just want to give you a heads up!" Turning the sisters left and went back stage to stretch. Seeing Zalia they walked over to her and sat on the floor by her feet. Being the oldest carnies here they knew Zalia the best, well besides Cire. "Hey Zal how are people liking the show?" Chenol said with a smile. |
Scarlett noticed him trying to scratch his back and grinned, crawling over him and putting both her hands on his shoulders, aimlessly rubbing his shoulders and then made her way down to the middle of his back. She put her head up a little when the girls said she was after Doll. "Thanks." She said before they left, looking back down at Lucifer. "Looks like I have to go in a few minutes.." She said softly, still rubbing his back gently as she spoke. "So is tomorrow the day you wish to spend with me?" She asked, her eyes looked down at him since she was sitting up.

"Any day that is fine for you," he smiled and ran his fingers through her hair. He watched her carefully, the silence ringing through his ears. He reached over to his side table and grabbed a pack of cigarettes. Taking one out, he popped it in his mouth and grabbed his lighter. He lit the cigarette and breathed in the heavy smoke, then blew it out his nose gracefully. He only started smoking two years after his mother's death, but he was addicted to the nicotine poison. Using the hand that wasn't holding the cigarette, he grabbed the back of her head, pulling her down to him. Softly, he pressed his lips to hers, holding them there in a deep, meaningful kiss. Slowly, his hand slid to her lower back. "Knock 'em dead," he grinned.

"Any day you want is fine with me. You gave me a never ending life. So I will give you any day you want of it."" She said, knowing she would repay him back fully someday and somehow, but until then she'd spend all the time she could with him. Though it wasn't a chore since she loved being with him.. and his kisses. She kissed back, feeling his hand slide down her back. "I will." She said, looking over at the hand with the cancer stick with it. Her old trainer used to smoke too, so she was perfectly fine with it. Though she'd never smoke. "Wish me luck, my love." She said softly, quoting what he had said earlier and kissing him on the cheek before getting up and stretching. She had not heard Doll's introduction yet so she wasn't in to much of a hurry. She knew she had to make herself look good before her act which was going to take time. She looked at Lucifer's eyes once more before heading for the exit of the tent. "You don't have to wait up, i'll probably wake you by accident when I come back anyways." She said, thinking of how clumsy her usually graceful legs were after a show. She exited the tent and made her way to her own tent so she could work on her looks. She sat in front of a small vanity mirror and started to point out flaws that she could fix. The ones she couldn't would just have to stay. Her thoughts were still on Lucifer as she started to brush her hair with a small silver antique looking brush.

Lucifer watched her walk out and lay back, sighing softly, a smile permanently plastered to his face. Sitting up, he stretched and stood up, putting his pants on. Stretching once more, he walked out to the mess tent to get a banana. He looked over and saw the new girl with Rythen. 'Is he going to make his move, or what?' the thought, reaching over and grabbing a banana. Taking one last look at the two, then walked out. The cool breeze shot against his bare chest and back as he walked to the main tent, to watch Scarlett's performance. He looked around, standing in the back, and leaned against a pole. Watching the audience, he eyed them. He didn't want anything unexpected happening with Scarlett out there. His eyes were darting back and forth as he ate the banana, his foot tapping as he became impatient. |

Scarlett now had her hair up in a bun with only a few slightly curly strands of hair flowing out of the bun. Her bangs were down and she had the regular make up she wore for her act. Bright red lipstick, dark eye shadow and mascara to make her eye lashes look fuller since they were already long enough. She made her way into the main tent to wait for her turn and looked around at everyone in the crowd. She noticed a few circus members, boys she had seen before at past circus's and then her eyes landed on Lucifer who was leaning against a pole in the back. She was surprised to see him out of bed and watching, hopefully to watch her. She felt a warm feeling inside and sighed happily before letting her long eye lashes flutter a few times since the lights kind of annoyed her vision. She was still wearing her grey corset, black frilled out tutu and then striped black and white tights. She wore no shoes, just black ankle socks that were tight to her skin and looked like ballet shoes. She had been wearing black leggings but she had replaced them with her new tights. |
Rythen dropped his hands. "Don't be sorry. I understand. And you have not been a bother. You have been friendly to everyone which is more to say then me." He watched her for a moment then thought back. "How many glasses of water have you had? You've been drinking an awful lot. Are you ok?"
He noticed the moment when Lucifer came in but he said nothing and left so Rythen put it out of his mind. |

Turning her head Zalia smiled to the twins. "They've been really liking it so far. I've been watching them the whole time. One of the best show's yet I think." She looked down at her staff and sighed. "I have to go through my book again, see if I can find something to protect us from the hunters. Something that won't allow them access to the grounds." Shaking her self she lightened the conversation. "Are you guys excited for your act?" Azra and Chenol watched Zalia as she played with her staff. They had always been intrigued by it. "Don't worry Zala you'll figure out something! Are we going to be changing areas again? Or is the circus going to stay here for a few days?" They were curious on how much time they were going to be in the area. Sometimes they stayed for a while and sometimes just a night. "And yes we are excited for our act. We love performing." Chenol said with a small smile and she continued to stretch. |
Scarlett noticed the twins fairly close to her so she made her way over to them. "Hello you three." She said, since Zalia was there as well. She looked back towards Lucifer and then at the twins. She had questions about the beautiful necklace and how it worked. She let her fingers run over the necklace as she smiled at the girls. "So how has the night been? I missed a few of the acts but I heard the crowd clapping." She said softly. She couldn't wait to see Azra and Chenol's act since it was simply amazing since they were part snake.

Looking up the twins smiled at Scarlett but let Zalia do all the talking. They were speaking to each other in their minds, figuring out what they were going to do for their act.
Before looking at Scarlett with a smile Zalia answered the twins. "You've been here long enough to know the answer girls! The circus move's on it's own. I have yet figured out how to move it myself." Turning to Scarlett she answered her question. "It has been a very good night! One of the best yet I think, the crowd has loved it. I can't wait till they see your acts ladies. It will be a very good ending with Doll then the twins then you." |
She smiled. "I do hope I can do well.. my eyes are sort of screwing up on me at the moment." She said, keeping her eyes away from the lights. "And of course we all know the twins and Doll will be amazing, as usual." She smiled, putting her bangs behind her ear and started to get nervous as she looked at the crowd. "I'm gonna go get some water.." She gulped, heading out of the main tent and into the mess tent where all the food and drinks were. She noticed Rythen and the new girl, thinking it was cute as she grabbed a bottled water and and opened it, taking a few sips to calm her nerves.

Mellie glared at Lucifer and then looked back to Rythen. Water... She grabbed another cup and filled it to the rim, then chugged it. She drank three glasses in a row, forgetting her weak stomach. On her fourth glass, she leaned over the sink and back up it came, again, stinging the back of her throat. "Shit.." she coughed, tears flowing down her face from the pain and her emotions built up inside her. "I'm sorry, Rythen.." she muttered, her head hanging, as if she was waiting for more to come up. "You care for Ahanna...You care for everyone else..." she whispered, closing her eyes. "I want to get to know...I don't hate you...I couldn't fathom the thought of anyone hating you..." Lifting her head, she looked at Rythen and smiled. "You deserve love, Rythen."

When the new girl puked and started talking to Rythen about love she realized she was in the middle of the wrong conversation.. She made her way out of the mess tent and all the way out of the circus tents. She looked up at the now darkening sky and laid down on the ground, drinking some more of her water. Out here the lights no longer bothered her and she could see stars starting to appear in the sky. She could hear the circus music playing an an introduction being made about Doll as she looked up at the sky thinking of her darling mother and Joshua.

Rythen walked up next to Mellie. He held her hair gently back. "I would die for anyone in this camp." He sighed then looked away. But enough about me." He looked back at her. "You deserve love too. I would like to get to know you too. But are you alright?"
Ahanna waited for the two of them to come back. She had watched the crowd and none of them had left the tent but there could be more hunters out there. She thought she would have heard something if there had been an attck but no one had heard anything at her home till it was too late. She finally got up. She knew she might be interupting something she shouldn't but she couldn't take it any longer. Anyways she had seen Mellie drop her note when she left and had picked it up. She could use that as an excuse for showing up. She walked to the mess tent thinking she should start in the main areas. She walked in to see Mellie was sick and that Rythen was holding her hair. ((sorry it is so short)) |
Laughing, Mellie stood up and stepped away from Rythen, bowing quickly. "I am fine...I just suddenly became thirsty...I guess," she said, her voice trailing off. "I do not deserve love, I am a terrible woman," she sighed and looked away, looking around for something the freshen her breath up with. "I couldn't even get up there and perform...Hah, I bet I won't be able to, next time, probably...I'm just a weak, terrible woman." She sighed, then saw Ahanna and smiled, waving happily. She didn't want the woman knowing what was happening with her. She was jealous, angry, and upset. She wasn't going to let anyone know it. Not even Rythen. She was going to make everyone think she was an amazingly happy woman, with no cares in the world.

Rythen watched as she stepped away and took a look of happiness. He knew Ahanna was watching them and could probably hear them but he didn't really care. He trusted Ahanna to not say anything. "You think you don't deserve love because you did not do an act today? Neither did me and Ahanna. Ahanna refused to leave her tent for the first three days. We have only preformed five times now. You will be able to preform. The people will love you."
He turned from her and waved at Ahanna. "I'm sorry to bother you. And I know you told me to stay but I was worried about you guys. And..." She reached under her sash. "I brought the note you dropped Mellie." Ahanna held it out. |
She shook her head at Rythen. "You wouldn't understand," she said, then took the note from Ahanna. "Thank you, my friend," she smiled, then turned back to Rythen, looking at him softly. "If you wish to talk further, I will be in the practice tent on the highest wire." She waved and walked out of the tent, slipping the note back into her bra.
Reaching the practice tent, she stared up at the highest wire. It was so far up...She was just glad there was a net just below it, so she didn't have to fall all the way down to the bottom. Grabbing her unicycle and hoola-hoops, she traveled up the ladder, panting as she got to the top. Her energy was almost drained, so she decided to sit at the platform, panting softly as her feet dangled. She leaned her head back and stared at the top, yawning quietly. |
Ahanna watched as her friend took the note and left the tent. She sighed then turned to Rythen. "I am sorry I came. I should have listened. I will go back to the tent. Make sure your both back for the end of the show. We need to be together when people start leaving." She turned and left the tent. The man had been stupid again but she couldn't fix his problem. She went back to the tent and sat in the seats she had left.
Rythen watched as Mellie left. He would follow after her but first he needed to take care of Ahanna. He turned to her but before he could do or say anything she spoke then walked off. Well she took care of that. He would make sure they were back before the show was over. He walked to the practice tent and walked in. He looked around for her but didn't see her. He looked up and found she was already up at the wire. It was so much higher then the one he had walked on. He thought of just waiting for her or talking to her down here but he didn't want to wait and shouting at her might cause her to fall. So instead he grabbed the latter and started climbing. When he finally reached the top he stayed on the latter. "I'm sorry about everything. But I would like to see you go across." He smiled at her and tried not to think about how high they were. |
