It was raining again. Henry couldn't see it, but he faced the window and listened to the pattering outside. He'd always hated the rain, perhaps now more than ever. Despite having the company of his nurse, the rain made him feel so alone.
In his earlier days, before he'd lost his vision, he had looked out at the streets on cold, rainy days and witnessed what seemed like death. Fewer and fewer people would be out and about until at last there was no one. Not even the dogs would walk those gray streets in the bitter, lonely rain.
He sighed heavily and called for the nurse to fetch him a drink. It wasn't her job to do so, but the girl was so handy when Henry had little will to do things on his own.

Isabelle was a young a beautiful young lady. At her early age of 16 she had turned down 3 marriage proposals already. She was bright and had many people who loved her....But she had no mother or father she was alone in this world....all she truly had to live for was her master......He made sure she had food and a roof over her head. She was thankful to him for that. She was very big on daydreaming she loved to daydream more then anything in the world. She walked into his bedroom she knocked on the door first.
" I have brought you your drink.....my lord....would you care for anything else?" She asked him as she walked up to him and handed him his drink making sure it was in his hands. She smiled at him even though she knew he could not see her smile she truly cared about him as a friend he was a good man she hopped he would find happiness someday if not soon...

"No, that'll be all for now," murmured Henry. She was a good girl, always so warm and thoughtful. Of course, if she hadn't been, it was unlikely that she'd have been allowed to stay under his roof. Henry was admittedly not the friendliest of men. There was something in her, though, that brought out the better in him. If only there had been more like her in his past... Before she had time to turn away, he added a quick and barely audible "Thank you."

" Your always welcome my lord" As she began to leave " Please call me if you need me my lord" She stated as she walked out his room and closed his door. She walked down stairs....she was the only other person who lived with him...this made her lonely and a bit sad. She use to visit the children in the orphanage she was from but she has had little time lately. Also people like to talk badly of her sometimes....since she is a young woman and her master and older man...who is not married.....people think that they are doing things out of wedlock. Which is not true...her master would never see her that way....and she...could not see him like that he was handsome but cold

Henry shifted in his seat, trying to get comfortable with his drink. In spite of her friendliness and his appreciation of her company, there was always a certain degree of awkwardness in their interactions. He supposed it was to be expected, given the circumstances. Still, he felt more comfortable around Isabelle than he had anyone else in quite some time. He smiled faintly to himself. He'd have to do something nice for her when the rain ended. It wasn't as though he couldn't afford it, after all; he'd just been so preoccupied lately with, well, brooding--and there was no use in that. Getting out of the house would surely be good for the both of them.

isabelle Finished cleaning down stairs and in the living room It had been a while since anyone came to visit the master. She Began to prepare the master's lunch she always brought it up to him since he liked to stay in his room. She made him steak and potatoes....she also poured him some red wine. She placed it all on a beautiful tray and knocked on his door...." My lord..I have your lunch.....would you care to eat now?" She asked as she smiled as she spoke she tried to cheer him up

"Just put it over there for now, dear," Henry replied, waving a hand in the general direction of his nightstand. He was actually a bit hungry, but once again, he was too wrapped up in thought to do much else. He considered asking her where she would like to go, but he wanted it to be a surprise. Thus, the sooner she left him to his thoughts, the better.

" My lord.....if I maybe so bold...you always push my food...away at first....is my cooking bad....?" She asked him her voice cracking a bit her feelings were a tad hurt..a tear slipped her eyes..what if he was going to fire her where would she go..." Your not going to fire me are you I can get better I promise.. She sated as she walked closer to him closer to then she had even been to him she was at arm's reach...she smelled like flowers...roses to be exact

Henry felt uncomfortable. Her presence should have been soothing, but knowing that she worried about such a thing upset him a little. He'd never put much thought into how he must seem to her; he knew that it wasn't the closest relationship, but it was proper, wasn't it? "Your food is fine," he answered. "I have no reason to send you away." He paused and took a deep breath--noticing her scent when he did. "I need you here with me." For a moment he debated having her leave the room. She was so close... "I've just been thinking over a great number of things lately and require time alone." The sentence came out quickly, a bit more clipped than he'd have liked. He hoped she didn't take it personally. After all, the reason he wanted time to think--at least today--was to plan something nice for her.

Isabelle nodded as if he could see her nod. She took in a deep breath as a sign of relief...* My cooking is just fine......ughhhh I have to get better...* She stated. She then managed to get a smile she got a bell and placed it in his hand she had bent down to his hand....." here you go...a bell....ring it if you need me....that way you can think in peace..without me intruding..." She stated as she back away taking her wonderful sent with her. " I will leave the food where you asked...please eat ....you need to have your strength..." She stated as she left closing the door. Isabelle had finished all of her work load early for today.....so she deiced to take a bath to calm her and to gather her own thoughts...she could not help but think of what he had said......" I need you here with me......."

Henry uttered another short "Thank you" as she left the room, and went back to his planning. It had to be something that the both of them could enjoy, and over the years he'd grown to feel as though few such things existed. In his youth, he'd been a very visually-oriented person, more fascinated with beautiful sights than anything else. He wondered if Isabelle looked as beautiful as the rest of his senses were telling him she must be...
After some time, he decided to take her to an opera. He'd almost forgotten how much he enjoyed music, and even if he lacked the lovely visuals, he could listen--and Isabelle could tell him what she saw if it was indeed worth seeing. Satisfied with his decision, he finally felt that he could eat and enjoy his dinner, despite the fact that it was no longer hot.

Isabelle had been soaking in the tub for a while now....she loved the way the water felt against her skin....it made it warm as if someone was hugging every inch of her body. She soon got out of her bath and placed on her maid clothes. She left her hair down so it could dry better. She realized that he had not called her so she decided to lay on her bed...She soon found herself sleeping and dreaming of the future....of seeing the world....with someone she loved....She often dreamed of getting married and having a child....she loved children and hopped to have a few when she was married...She loved the thought of having a kind wonderful husband who would love her unlike another.

Once Henry had finished his dinner, he slowly stood to take the dishes downstairs to be washed. He may have been blind, but he was far from helpless (though he did bring the bell with him). In fact, his hearing and sense of smell in particular were abnormally keen--and he had yet another strange condition to thank for that, although he did try to keep that one to himself.
He felt his way down the stairs and only rang for Isabelle after he'd cleaned off the dishes and set them on the counter to dry. He smiled to himself, wondering if she'd appreciate it.

Isabelle herd the bell ring but not from its normal place. She made her way down the steps there he was he had washed the dish for her. He looked handsome like always just standing there waiting for her to come and see what he had done. " My Lord...thank you...but you should not have gone to the trouble of doing so" She stated as she smiled her eyes were glowing with happiness. " Would you care for more wine or even desert?" She asked as she gently took his arm just incase he sot his balance. His arm was nice and strong she found herself blushing.

"No, thank you," Henry answered, his mood picking up a little with the excitement of planning an outing. It had been too long... "I want you to make sure you are available this upcoming Thursday night," he added with a sly smile, "and that you've got something nice to wear... because I've decided that we are going out to the opera." He was sure she'd be pleased. He'd have chosen a sooner night if he could have, but not only did such outings require a bit of planning (which, unfortunately, dampened the element of surprise he'd wanted); he knew that he'd need to be alone for the next few nights...

Isabelle's eyes lite up like a chirtmas tree. She loved the opera she had never been to one but shwe would sit outside of where they were held and liste to the magic of the music. She then began to frown na bit once he mentioned the whole wearing something nice...." I am so sorry my lord but I can not go with you that is to nice of an invitation place I have nothing to wear to such a place....I would love to go but I do not think I would fit in with the high class society....because I have nothing to wear...and am not of high class." She stated as she looked into his eyezs sadly even though he could not see...she felt like poor cinderella

Henry smiled softly at her. "I will buy you a dress for this occasion," he replied. "I feel you deserve a night out and we could both use the fresh air. Do not worry about the cost." As long as they managed to find her a dress quickly the next day, he was sure everything would be fine.

Isabelle blushed a bit. " I feel bad....for accepting.... "She stated as she looked at him. She then lowered her head. "What are people like in the opera from what you can hear is the singing still good....I have not had the time to sit outside and listen like I use to when I was a small child." She then smiled and sighed " I hope we have a wonderful time"

"The opera is a lovely place," Henry sighed. "I am sure we will both enjoy it. I haven't been to one in years, myself, but I know that I will not be disappointed. Music is one of the few things in life that I can truly enjoy these days. We will have to go out early tomorrow to find you a decent dress. I'll be needing some time to myself after nightfall." He paused. "The usual, you know," he added quickly.

She nodded " Yes I know" She stated as she looked at him. "I feel as if I will not fit I mean woman of higher class never like me well at east the ones I have meet" She stated as she frowned, Truth was the woman were jealous of her beauty
