Dawn looked down at the dog and whistled. His body moved out of attack mode and he looked up at her. She sheathed her sais behind her again and put a hand on his head. "My allegiance is to no one. This is my home that you have invaded." She stated bluntly as she knelt down to River again and pet him. "Why do you align with anyone? Why does this war have to go on and on like it always has? The repetition is annoying."
Ryn looked the girl over carefully before speaking. "I do not align with anyone. However the war is all I've ever known, and I'm afraid no other life suits me." Ryn stepped closer to the girl. "This war has done nothing for me except turn me into a monster I don't wish to be."
"You dont look like a monster to me" Dawn stated as she pet the wolf some more while sitting on her feet. "He doesnt bite if you want to come over." She said looking at the man. "You know. If you arnt aligned with anyone then why do you ask about me being in that camp?" A smile crossed her face as she looked at the man.
Ryn came closer, but still remained arms length away. "I was an Avalian Assassin. I... have a lot of blood on my hands, and I know no other trade." Ryn looked at the wolf, then back at the girl. "As an assassin, I observe much. This camp takes prisoners of those who are not aligned with them, yet you did not strike me as one of them but you were able to leave freely. It was a matter of curiosity." Ryn wouldn't admit the real reason. He was hoping to find someone else with no alignment. He held out his hand, palm up to the wolf. |
River saw the hand come towards him palm up. He looked at Dawn before he sniffed the hand and then licked it. She hadnt given him the signal to strike so it seemed that the man must be a friend or something similar. Dawn looked at him and sighed. "So your from Availia as well huh? Ran away from our homeland just like me." She sighed and looked down towards the ground as she spoke. The girl had never really liked Availia for all its rules and regulations but now that she found someone else who had come from there, she could see that she wasnt alone in that aspect.
Ryn startled slightly when the wolf licked his hand but realized the wolf was just being friendly. "Yeah... except now that I've left I have nothing to do, no purpose. My skills are useless. But I don't want to be bound to the fate of the war, although I can't hardly seem to escape it." Ryn couldn't believe how much he was talking to this girl, but he was somewhat relieved he was not the only one against both sides and the war to begin with. He looked at the girl, his piercing black eyes. "I'm Ryn of the Calimire Clan, from Avalia. Last of my clan." He held out his non-wolf-slobbered hand to the girl. |
Dawn was startled by the mans answer about the war and how he had nothing but war even though he didnt like fighting in it. Or so it seemed. She watched as he pet the wolf hesitantly. When he told her his name and held out the hand that River didnt lick, she smiled slightly. The girl took his hand and just held it instead of shaking like most people. "Dawn from the Vios Mage clan... And this is River. Hes friendly when you dont sneak up on us." She looked into his eyes as well, her emerald eyes seemingly piercing right through him.
Her hand was soft as it held Ryn's, and her eyes were the boldest emerald he'd ever seen. "I did not mean to sneak up on you, honestly. I meant to approach upfront." Ryn paused and withdrew his hand. He hesitated before speaking again. "How is it you live outside the war?" He wouldn't admit it was the very thing he needed help with. |
Dawn looked away then back at the man as if it were a sort of sore subject. When she looked back at him, she sighed and kissed River on the head before speaking. River always hated this story. For some reason he understood it and knew it was a painful one. "My parents were from the Vios Mage clan. The one clan that prided Magic over anything else, including serving their country. They put me through Mage school as a girl so i could learn to control the magic i had running through my veins... But thats not what i wanted. I wanted to learn how to fight without magic. All my friends were in the Warrior clans and all i wanted to do was be like them. So they taught me how to fight, while i still had to go to school for magic. My parents found out about it and so i ran away and started living out here in the woods, surviving with the help of River who i found next to the river badly injured. I healed him and this has been home ever since with my little friend." The wolf scratched behind his ear during the story and licked her face when she was finally finished.
"Oh... You like fighting but refuse the war...?" Ryn sighed, fingering the chain in his pocket and wondering if what he did was the right thing. The wolf seemed to make a good companion to the girl. Ryn was reluctant, but decided it would be better for the girl and the wolf if he would leave. Ryn bowed his head. "I apologize, I did not mean to be intrusive and I feel as though I'm keeping you away from something important." He hesitated, "Please forgive my intrusion." He turned to walk away, hoping he would be requested to stay but realizing if he wasn't he would need to find a way to survive. |
"I dont like war. I would just rather not focus on using magic that comes from the soul rather than physical strength and readiness." Dawn said as she saw the man about to leave. It seemed that she had upset him in some way. "And you were in no way intrusive." She got up from sitting on her feet. Her legs had begun to cramp up so she stretched them quickly. River ran to the man and nudged his leg with his head. "It looks like he doesnt want you to leave... I wouldnt mind if you stayed either." She said looking at him, but staying where she was.
Ryn looked down at the wolf, and petted him freely. He turned back toward the girl. "I guess you should probably know I'm a psychic. All of the Calimire Clan were psychics." He scratched behind the wolf's ears. "So what is it that you were doing in the camp anyway?" |
After several long hours of working Akage placed the sword in water and let the steam somewhat cleanse her face. The raging fire that growled beneath her had gotten soot all over her; causing her to look somewhat ashen.
"It's finally complete," Akage sighed in relief removing the sword, as her legs nearly gave out from under her. "I can't believe how long you took." She hissed, gazing deeply at the newly forged sword. This is why I don't copy she thought as she stared at the several disappointments that scattered around her. Each weapon that Akage had ever made was always somewhat distinguishable; making it minor or immensely noticeable you could always tell. I hate mimicry! I will never want to repeat such a troublesome task again. Akage yelled inside her head once more. This was her first and only time she dared to copy one of her creations. |
Dawn smiled as she walked over to kneel infront of the wolf. "I was trying to get information. You know, eaves drop on anything interesting. Figure out how the war is going in when is the predicted end. Maybe even their plans of attack so that i could possibly get away from all of the bloody battles, but knowing me, even with the information id somehow get into the middle of them." She pet the wolf. It was hard to believe that she was unveiling her plan to the man so easily. "What about you? Your not aligned with anyone. Why be in a war camp? Especially the other side from your usual prospects."
Ryn shrugged. "No where to go, nothing to do. My family is dead, my wife and daughter murdered so there is no longer a reason to go home." he said sadly. "If I were to go home, I'd have no way to support myself. I'm a soldier, an assassin and that's of no use back in Avalia or outside the war. I have no place in civilization, but I no longer wish to fight this war." Ryn let his shoulders sag a little. Remembering the past and his family made him very sad. But he felt no need to fear Dawn, or her intentions. |
"Im sorry for your loss. It must be hard to think of them. Especially around this time." River licked the man's hand again trying to get him to cheer up. Dawn put her hand on the man's shoulder. "You know... Maybe you can live out here with us. There usually isnt any war but sometimes it is necessary to fight in order to survive." She stood up. "Theres something i want to show you." She started to walk in a direction away from the Ezaria encampment. River followed, seemingly very excited.
Ryn tilted his head then followed Dawn and River away from the camp. The farther from camp they got, the darker it seemed to get. Ryn's mind wandered as they walked, and he remembered his wife and daughter. He missed them terribly, but knew there was nothing he could do. |
It wasnt long until the three of them got to a clearing. There was a lake and a waterfall. She really wanted to show him because it could bring his mind to a peaceful place. Not only that but it was the wolf and Avalian girl's home, or at least the one they slept in. There was a hidden cave behind the waterfall that no one would notice even if they were standing next to the waterfall. "This is our home. Sometimes we get invaders or even the war spilling out over here but when we dont, its quite peaceful."
Ryn lifted his eyes to survey the clearing. It was beautiful. The moonlight reflected off the falling water, making it look like falling diamonds instead, and the lake sparkled with crystals of light. It was very peaceful, and the sound of the running water was very calming. He looked towards the girl searching for words. "It's... Thank you for bringing me here... I'm sure it's not easy bringing a stranger into your home but it really does mean a lot." He continued to stare in awe at the sight, his eyes had not seen such beauty in ages, and he had forgotten how beautiful life could be. |
Dawn smiled at him as she set her weapons on the ground. River laid next to them. She took the armor plate off of her shoulder and side and started to walk into the water. "I thought it would be nice to see our home because of how peaceful it is... River says you can stay with us if you would like. Im pretty sure that someone from either camp will somehow find this place sooner or later but for now it can be your home too." Little did the man know that if he stayed, she was going to go and play a couple tricks on both camps. It was out of fun and out of telling them to get out of her home. Of course, she would do this when both River and the man were sleeping so that she wouldnt get caught. Once the girl got to the deep end, she dove under, breaking the surface quickly afterwards.
Ryn removed the longsword from his waist along with his dagger and also the silver chain in his pocket. He removed his shoes and shirt, revealing scars on his muscled body. He waded into the lake, but kept at least a few feet between himself and the girl, not because he was scared of her, but because he wanted to respect her. "It's very kind of you to share your home with me. I will repay the favor in some way somehow." He waded in til the water reached just to his shoulder blades before dropping beneath the surface and reappearing a few feet away, his hair soaked. |
Dawn laughed seeing how the man had just gotten comfortable with just walking into the water along with her. A midnight swim seemed exactly what the man needed to relax. "HAHAHA Looks like this was just what you needed." She splashed some of the water at him once surfaced.
Ryn couldn't help but blush a little but instead of admitting it, he splashed water right back at her. "The water is amazing." he commented, swirling his arms around in it. |
Alex went through the tents on the camp. She could see the traces of war everywhere. Blood. Weapons. Soldiers. Blood. There was a hollow feeling within her as she saw the reality that she tried hard to escape. This is it. She was in. She can no longer deny it. She is going to become a part of the something that countless men have sacrificed their life for. Her days of rainbows and butterflies, flirting with the fae, and playing in he meadows are over. Now is the start of a new phase of her life.
Here, one can see the hardness of life that she had remained ignorant of until now. In the Seelie Court, it was all laughter. She had been raised on such environment. Considering this, she was fearful of how she will adopt to this sudden change of her life. Would she prevail? Would she give in under the violence and ugliness? A new resolution settled within her. Her shoulders straightened and a stubborn glint entered her eyes. No. She will win. She will not give up. She'll see this through, with her standing straight and tall in the end. |
Dawn smiled seeing that the man was finally relaxing. She splashed him again started to swim away to see if he would relax some more and have some fun. River barked happily at them.
