Sora and Roxas were twins, born to the royal family. But their parents were superstitious and thought twins meant bad luck. So they took Roxas and gave him to a couple on the outskirts of the village who had been wanting a child, but were unable to conceive one on their own. So Sora grew up being pampered while Roxas grew up on border-line poverty.
One day, Sora sneaks out of the palace because he wanted to know what it was like on the outside. He's lived a sheltered life, so he had no idea what it was like. He runs into Roxas and they're both amazed at how similar they look. They come up with a plan to switch places, just to see if they're able to pull it off.
So, for the next few weeks, they meet up and learn as much as they can about each other so they'd be able to make the switch. The day finally comes and Roxas enters the palace for the first time in his life while Sora goes to the small house Roxas had been living in.
While Roxas is in the palace, he meets Axel. Axel could either be Sora's best friend or someone who likes picking on him. Roxas knows that one of the main people he'd have to make believe he was Sora was Axel, so he'd have to do his best to imitate Sora. The other people he'd have to fool would be, of course, Sora's parents.

Roxas snuck quietly through the halls of the palace. 'So far so good....' he thought. His thoughts briefly went back to Sora, who was by now with his family. He hoped his mom wouldn't see through the trick they pulled. If not, than it would ruin everything.

He stopped to glance around a corner. He knew that sneaking around like this would only make him look more suspicious. So he took a deep breath to calm himself down. He was supposed to be acting like Sora. He ran a hand through his hair before pushing himself away from the wall he was leaning on. 'Just remember to act like you belong here at least.... Hopefully no-one will call you out on being who you're not...' he thought.

He straightened the front of the robe Sora had given him nervously before turning around the corner and walking down the hall.

(Does Axel know about the switch?)

(No. He don't.)

Another day same as everyday that's come before it Axel thought as he walked through the halls searching for Sora, lately he had become more and more hard to find and he was sure he wasn't the only one noticing. Then again maybe he was people weren't very observant in the palace they were more interested in their own devises.

Rounding a corner he almost walked smack into Sora, "O sorry there little guy didn't see you" Axel shifted almost instantly into tease mode, it was hard to tell how to act around Sora. Axel was caught in between being his buddy and just plain picking on him, guess it depended on his mood really. Well right now he was bored so it was teasing mode, looking Sora over he noted that he looked a little off

Roxas froze for a second, not expecting to run into somebody so quickly. He forced his body to relax as he took in the sight of who was standing in front of him. Let's see... Tall.... Red hair... Green eyes... Must be Axel. He scanned his brain, thinking of how he was supposed to act around him. But when he heard what was said, he couldn't stop a frown from forming on his face and he crossed his arms. "I'm not that small." he said. He was sure that was how Sora would have responded, so he wasn't too worried that Axel would be suspicious.

"Why sure you are" Axel couldn't help teasing Sora it was almost a pastime for him, and Sora always bristled at the comments which made teasing him all the more fun. "Your like a head smaller then me" Axel added green eyes twinkling with mischief, placing a hand on Sora's head flattening his spiky yet surprisingly soft hair with his palm just to emphasize his smallness. "True you may be taller then some girls but you are short compared to me" Axel said with a light laugh

The frown on Roxas' face turned into a pout. Why was he getting picked on? Did this happen often with Sora? As he thought about it, he knew the answer was yes. He mentally sighed and figured he'd just have to deal with it. "It's not my fault that I'm smaller than you!" he exclaimed. In all honesty, he didn't mind the teasing much. He was often teased by his friends back home about his size, even though they were all about the same height.

Axel eventually tired of teasing Sora "O right I was looking for you for a reason" he said taking his hand from Sora's hair and running it through his own attempting to remember why he was searching for Sora. "O right your parents are looking for you for something or another I'm not sure I wasn't really paying attention when they told me to find you' Axel admitted at least attempting to look contrite and failing because of the grin that dominated his face. Taking Sora by the hand he lead him through hall after hall until they finally reached his parents apartments

Roxas was glad when Axel had stopped teasing him. But he frowned lightly when he hear what was said. So he was going to be meeting Sora's parents so soon? He had been hoping for some more time to mentally prepare himself beforehand. He made sure to keep the nervous look off of his face. No point in making Axel suspicious of anything, right? He returned the redhead's smile halfheartedly as he was led to where the parents were. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. He was told to enter, very nervous. It turned out that they just wanted his opinion on an upcoming event they were planning on hosting. Thankfully they didn't seem to notice that anything was different about their 'son'.

Axel didn't follow Sora into the room let him flounder on his own he thought, not that Sora's parents were mean or anything they just didn't like Axel so he went out of his way to avoid them. Tapping his fingers on the wall he waited for Sora to come back out of the room, for some odd reason Axel felt something was a little off about Sora today but he just couldn't put his finger on it. It's probably just all in my head he thought looking when he heard a noise. But it was just Sora exiting the room

Roxas smiled lightly when he saw Axel, knowing that Sora was a very happy person. Even though he wasn't much of a happy guy himself. "Sorry.." he apologized, meaning that he had to go to Sora's parents. He was silent for a few seconds. "Want to go do something fun now?" he asked, hoping for the chance to do something fun in the castle.

"Depends do you want to go do the usual?" Axel didn't bother to mention what the usual was Sora would know considering they did it all the time, Axel yawned swiping his hand through his hair. Today had started out as a slow lazy day and it seemed it would continue that way unless something fun happened. Turning his back on Sora he started to walk along the hallway with no particular destination in mind trusting that Sora would follow. "So again the usual?" he asked as Sora had been silent a few moments, maybe he hadn't heard him the first time

Roxas froze for a second. What was the usual?! Axel didn't go into any specifics, so he knew that he should already know what it was. To make things worse, Sora didn't mention anything. He bit his lip and followed after the redhead once he turned. He forced a smile on his face so that there wouldn't be any suspicion as he nodded. "Yeah! Sounds great!" he exclaimed, hoping that he'd be able to catch on in time.

Taking Sora by the arm Axel led him back to the kitchens he flirted with a few of the kitchen helps and packed a lunch. Again taking Sora by the arm he led him outside "I know we haven't been here in a while but for nostalgia's sake why not go visit our old romping grounds", it wasn't the usual but Axel had changed his mind. They had been walking through the woods, behind the castle for a good twenty minutes when they got to a small clearing no one but they knew about. They used to come here as kids to get away from the palace

Roxas resisted the urge to pull his arm away from Axel when he was grabbed. He wasn't exactly the type of person who liked to be touched. But he knew Sora didn't mind, so he was just going to have to deal with it. He smiled lightly when the lunch was packed and he nodded. "Sounds good to me." he said, following after the redhead. The walk to the clearing was quiet, for which he was glad. He wasn't sure what exactly he should say.

Axel didn't release Sora's arm until they had reached the clearing, dropping it he went to the flat rock that filled up part of the clearing, he remembered when they were younger they used that rock for many purposes bases in games of make believe war, an area to spar even though it wasn't that large, even as a bed when they took naps out here. Walking towards it he set the basket down on the rock taking a seat beside it. The sun had soaked up the sun's warmth and it was a very comfortable seat beckoning Sora over Axel started to unpack the lunch

Roxas took a half-step away from Axel once his arm was released, glad to have been let go. He looked around the small clearing and decided that it would be a nice place to be whenever he wanted to be alone. He imprinted the trip here into his brain so that he'd be able to find it later. He smiled lightly and went to take a seat on the rock next to Axel and looked at the packed lunch. He hadn't been paying much attention when it was packed, so he was curious as to what they were having.

The lunch wasn't much a flasks of juice, sandwiches, a few apples, and some desert one of the girls had slipped in two pieces of coconut cream pie in containers hopefully they hadn't gotten to banged up during the trip. "It isn't much but food is food" Axel said with a shrug handing Sora a flask and his sandwich taking one for his own. There was a few for each boy no one could call the cook stingy

Roxas smiled lightly at the sight of all the food. He never really had the chance to eat this much food during one meal and he hesitantly grabbed a sandwich. "Looks good." he said, taking a bite. And it was good. It took all his will-power not to just shove the food down his throat. After all, since he was supposedly Sora, than he should be used to be well-fed.

"Yeah it's alright" Axel agreed eating leisurely warmed by the rock it was starting to make him a little sleepy. Sitting up straighter he took a sip from his flask in an attempt to perk himself up "remember all the games we used to play here, or the time we sneaked out of the castle and everyone was in an uproar looking for you" Axel asked finally giving in and laying down on the rock closing his eyes dreamily

Roxas smiled lightly, actually able to slow his eating down after he had a few bites. He took a drink from his flask and found the drink to be as good as the food. He raised an eyebrow when he heard what was said and he nodded with a smile. That was actually something Sora went into great detail about. He went on and on about the games he used to play with Axel and used such detail that Roxas knew basically every detail. "Yeah. That was great~"

The day was nice sunny with a hint of a breeze, the rock warming his back Axel finished his sandwich and took another sip of the juice. After while though he started to drift off. He hadn't meant to but the day was just so relaxing. Dimly he heard Sora agree with him, it flitted through his mind that something was off about him but he couldn't quite grasp what.

Roxas continued eating silently, watching as Axel started to drift off to sleep. This was good. That meant that there was no way he'd be able to accidentally say something to cause suspicion. He let his attention wander around the clearing, faintly catching glimpses of animals in the surrounding woods and he smiled lightly at the sight of them.

Axel wasn't sure how much time had passed before he finally came to the sun looked a little lower and it was a little darker "Whoa how long did I sleep for?" he asked Sora who much to his surprise was still there with him, once in a while when Axel fell asleep here Sora would leave him
