It was late into the night when Mercer saw the carriage draw up. As head butler of the Valkyan mansion, he had been making his nightly rounds when the hounds started barking. Their sudden howls disrupted the peace of the night, and Mercer hurried to quiet them down.
"Hush, boys," Mercer said as he scratched the dogs behind the ears. "What's gotten into you, guys, eh?" Distracted, the largest hound whimpered and made its way towards a pitch-black window. Mercer followed suit, and through the windowpane attempted to discern what was causing the hounds such a ruckus. Slowly, a faint light appeared on the path through the forest, and the sound of hooves against stone was heard. A carriage was approaching the mansion. "She's back," Mercer whispered, a hand to his heart, his voice barely audible. "After all these years, she's back." He hurried to wake up the rest of the servants and they all made haste to welcome back the princess they've been missing for so long. ((I didn't know what to title this, so yeah, haha. If you come up with something, we can change it.)) |
Eclipse sighed at the site of the mansion cioming into view. "At last," she breathed. She waited for someone to open the door for her and she stepped out into the night. "Where is he?" she asked immediately. Her favorite servant, certainly he would be here?
|
And not a moment too soon. Mercer opened the door to reveal a transformed house. What five minutes ago was lonely and dark mansion was now alight with candles and servants bustling about. When they had heard of the lady's return, they had rushed to their jobs.
"Milady," Mercer said as he bowed gently. "It's been too long. Please, come in from the cold. May I take your coat?" |
"Mercer...." Eclipse said softly, affectionately, draping her coat over his arms and brushing her fingers over his cheek. "I so missed you..." She smiled at him, her eyes sparkling with tears. "I see you've gotten everyone back to their jobs. I trust everybody is still here?"
|
Mercer shuddered at his lady's touch. How he had longed to see her again. How he had spent every day keeping the mansion neat and tidy, all for this one day. To not only see his lady's beautiful face once more, but to feel her fingers on his cheek, that was too much for him to bear.
"Mostly, my princess," he replied as he gave her coat to a nearby footman. "Lucinda took the winter off to give birth to her third child, and Frank is ill with the pox. We have two new calves in the stables, as well. The foals gave birth whilst you were away. Other than that, everything is as it was when you left." Mercer guided Eclipse up the grand staircase. She was as radiant as ever, and the wind had put a rosy pink on her cheeks. "It is late, my lady," he said. "Shall you retire to your bedroom for the night?" |
"I will retire, my dear Mercer, only if you will help me dress for bed..." she said softly, memories of nights with him brushing through her dark hair weighting on her heart like a long lost friend. Her hand loosly brushing his as if she were going to take his hand, but moving away at the last moment as they entered the door to her mansion.
|
Mesmerized by Eclipse's voice, Mercer followed her into her bedroom, a vast room filled with ornate draperies and decorations suited to the princess's every whim. It pleased Mercer to see the room finally being occupied after having been empty for so long.
"I would be honored to," Mercer replied in response to his princess's question, a smile creeping on his face. As she sat down in front of her dresser, Mercer moved to the closet and began pulling out various nightgowns for her to choose. "My princess," he said, laying them out on the bed. "Which would you prefer?" |
Eclipse smiled, running her fingers over the silky gowns. Then she picked one, a rather short one with spaggheti straps. She glances at him, waiting for him to clothe her. "Please?" she murmured.
|
"Of course, my lady," Mercer said obligingly. She had chosen well. A short nightgown made of the softest silk, in a shade of red that brought out the color in her eyes. Mercer started to undress Eclipse, slowly, delicately, making sure to not hurt her in the process. He unzipped her gown from the back and helped her slip on the nightgown. As she pulled the pins from her hair, Mercer breathed in the scent of his lady's perfume.
"I'm glad you're back," he said at last. |
"I'm so glad too, Mercer..." she sighed.; The feel of his hands in her hair once again was exquisite to her, and she found herself wondering what she had ever done to deserve having to miss him so. She gazed at his face in the mirror at his astonishingly handsome face. Eclipse wondered if it was her memory, of if he was thinner than she remembered him. As his hands removed each pin, she searched each feature of his face...
One... those perfect eyes... Two... those eyebrows arched ever so gently. Three... the way his lips moved when they said her name... She knew what she would ask tonight... but how to do so? |
Mercer stared adoringly into Eclipse's eyes, letting himself get lost in her two pools of hazel.
"But my lady," he said. "I must ask. Where have you been all this while? We were worried sick when you just took off in your carriage that day." Mercer took Eclipse's hands into his own and looked her in the eye. "And more importantly, why didn't you tell me? I thought I meant more to you than that." Try as he might, Mercer couldn't help but let a tint of sadness show on his face. |
Tears sprang unwillingly to Eclipse's eyes. "Mercer... I'm so sorry... I..." She had set out to say that she hadn't known... just how much he had felt for her, but now she realized that would be a lie. She had always known, from the moment they had walked in that meadow, the way that he gazed at her in that sunlight, and the way that he hand had brushed in hers. "Mercer, I had no choice. I didn't know, myself, then, what was going on. All that I knew was that there was royal things I must take care of..." She then set into her story of how the throne had been threatened and that the whole royal family had to be at the castle to ensure its saftey. It turned out to be a long time enemy of their country that wanted revenge for humans killed in their land. They thought that their country had done it, and had gone after them. After she was done, she looked at her hands.
"Mercer... I do not wish for you to leave my side tonight..." She took a deep breath and prepared herself for what she would say next. "Will you... lay with me tonight?" The request was innocent enough. One might, in the event that they walked in, think that she simply did not want to be alone. But only one man could keep the lonliness she'd been accustomed to at bay... ((wow that turned out long. Sorry if it's too long. ^-^;)) |
((It's fine, but I hope you don't mind me playing someone hard to get))
Mercer listened to Eclipse's words, but they seemed hollow to him. His deepest insecurities had been brought to the surface, and loathe as he was to admit it, the class distinction that he had tried so hard to ignore was pounding at his head like a blacksmith's hammer. "It appears we have both been mistaken," he said slowly. "I'll admit I had, no, have feelings for you. But forgive me for having forgotten my place in society." He laughed ruefully. "Of course royal things must take precedence over your lowly . . . servant's feelings. You are the princess and direct heir to a magnificent kingdom, after all. I was a fool to think your love for me was but a fleeting whim of emotions." Mercer dropped Eclipse's hands and moved toward the doorway. "I'm sorry, my princess, but there are still other matters that this lowly servant must attend to. I bid you a good night, and sweet dreams." And with that, he walked out the door as elegantly as he could manage, trying not to let the hurt show in his face. Fool, you must face reality, he told himself. She is a princess, unbefitting of you. |
Eclipse didn't hesitate, getting up from her chair and practically dancing, barefoot, out into the corridor to find Mercer. She had to find him. How had he taken it this way? That's not what she meant at all!
"Mercer!" she called as she reached him in the hallway. "Stop... please stop..." She took his hand before he could run further from her side. "Mercer... It wasn't by choice that I left your side..." She held his hand tighter, perhaps imagining his attempt to pull away from her. "I was commanded to leave everyone as they were... Even then I didn't think that I would be so long away from you..." She sobbed on this last sentance, hating admitting that it had happened, admitting that it had taken so long to get back to him. "Mercer, I do love you, it's no fleeting thing..." Tears ran down her crestfallen face, she could barely stand to see him hurt at all. "And besides, you're not a lowly servant to me... You must know this, Mercer..." Her lips brushed his cheek, then close to his lips, gazing in his eyes. "You've always been more than that..." She shivered as a draft blew through the corridor, but stood her ground, gazing at him with longing that she neither understood, nor cared to analyze. ((Oh no, I don't mind at all. ^-^)) |
It took all Mercer's willpower to keep him from ravaging Eclipse right then and there. But the sane, logical part of his mind fought for control over his heart and willed him to keep still. Mercer pulled back from Eclipse and tried to reason with her.
"And I love you, Eclipse," said Mercer sadly. But his mind was made up. "And trust me, I won't forget everything we've been through. But let's face reality, shall we? The King and Queen will want you to marry into another kingdom, to someone far more suitable of your status. And I? I shall still be your humble butler. Your parents would never approve of us, and I'd rather not prolong a separation." As Eclipse broke down sobbing, Mercer cursed himself inwardly. How could he make her cry like that? But their time spent away from each other had hardened his heart, and he was determined to not break down now. "It's late, my lady. And we're both exhausted. Let us both retire to our rooms and get a good night's rest to clear our heads." And with that, he turned on his heel and walked down the hall, urging himself to not go back, as much as he might want to. |
"But.... but Mercer!" she called. If only she had hurried into explanation of what she had found in her time away. She nearly sprinted to him, nearly dragging him to the ground in her effort to stop him from going farther from her.
"Mercer," she panted, "I found something about it." She tried to catch her breath, but managed: "I have found out... a solution to our problems." She grasped his hand so that he couldn't get away, holding him there, whether against his will or not she couldn't tell, but at the moment she couldn't bring herself to care. She pulled on his hand to draw his lips to hers, softly kissing the lips that she had missed so much, pressing herself, seemingly nonchalantly, against him, tears falling to his cheeks. The kiss turned hungrier as she stayed there, her hand behind his neck, and her lips moved down to his neck where his jaw and neck met, that small crook, feeling his blood rushing to and from his heart. "Mercer..." she nearly whimpered, her temptation slowly swallowing her. Her teeth grazed the soft skin, as if to ask permission. ((I think it's time we play with the vampire aspect, don't you? :P Oh, and so so sorry for the delay, I was not in school yesterday.)) |
((I'm going to keep myself human, so you have the option of either changing me or leaving me as mortal))
Mercer froze. Had Eclipse really figured it out? The solution to her . . . problems? In that moment, she kissed him and he lost all control. Deepening it, he let his hands run through her hair. How he had missed her, the only one who had trusted him with her deepest and darkest secret. And how betrayed he felt, when she just left him like that. "Mercer," she pleaded, and he knew instantly what she wanted. She hadn't fed yet. He lead her back into her chambers and locked the door. No one else in the house must find out this secret of hers. As she waited on the bed, he quickly closed all the blinds and dimmed the candle. "I'm ready, my princess," Mercer said at last, baring open his neck. |
She shifted, arousal threatening her core, but she held it back, stepping toward him and kissing the spot she would bite, then a soft lick to numb the skin with her optional venom.
"I cannot live forever without you, you know," she murmured softly, almost teasingly. "I should change you... But then you'd have this lust for blood... I'm afraid it would remove your lust for me..." She nipped softly, not yet enough to cut into the skin. "So I ask you what you would ask of me..." |
Mercer shuddered slightly at the touch of Eclipse's tongue, and tried hard to keep his head clear. What was it that she was asking him? Something about . . . changing him? Blood? Lust? Another nip, and Mercer groaned in blissful agony. Whatever she was planning on doing, he hoped she would just get on with it and be done.
"Either, my princess," Mercer gasped. "Just hurry." |
((I hope you're okay with this, I can change it if you would like.))
Eclipse softly sighed against his skin and then without further urging, sank her razor sharp fangs into his neck, letting her venom saliva flow into his flesh. She moaned, her body almost involuntarily rocking against her servant's body, her arousal evident, her hunger slowly leeching away. She moaned in blissful pleasure, the taste almost too good to know, and as it filled her, she held him, hoping against hope it wasn't as painful as her transformation had been... But then, those had been altogether different circumstances, a different vampire, another life. |
((It's fine, lol))
Mercer gasped in pain when he felt her fangs sink into his skin. It hurt. Hurt more than he had expected it to, and for a second panic overtook him. The pain was sharp and fleeting, but as the venom saliva dripped into his circulation, it soon escalated. He screamed out as pain overtook his body, and he bit his lip to keep from thrashing. His body felt as if it were on fire, and he couldn't hold it in anymore. Then, quick as it came, the flames died down, and he was left with a numbing feeling. He still felt Eclipse's fangs in his neck, felt his blood being drawn out, but in a sense he wasn't aware of anything at all. Little did Mercer know, he was slowly going unconscious, falling prey to that which was the transformation. |
Eclipse slowly removed her fangs, lowering Mercer to her bed. "It will pass in a little bit," she murmured to him, softly stroking his cheek. "My love... we will rule for eternity, just you wait and see...' She kissed his lips, laying next to him until he woke a couple of hours later, changed, but still her Mercer...
"Mercer?" she said quietly, stroking his cheek, waiting for those new eyes to open and look at her. She wondered what his first reaction would be, what his first discovery would be in his new state of mind. She leaned down and kissed his lips softly. |
