Alexis froze for half-a-second when she felt the presence tap her on the shoulder. But she relaxed quickly, already knowing he wasn't going to hurt her. After all, he would have done it by now if he wanted too, right? A small smile formed on her face as she glanced in Kendrick's general direction. "It's very nice to meet you." she said.

She slowed down as she approached her apartment. She was starting to enjoy speaking to this invisible being, but she knew her mother would think she was going crazy and probably lock her up in a psych ward if she found her daughter 'talking to herself'. So she paused outside before turning and starting towards the library. She did have a big test coming up soon and she could at least get some studying done.

Following her footsteps; he wondered why she changed her mind. The streets were quiet and unpopulated in the direction they walked. The occasional tree waved in the wind; the leaves danced almost joyfully. Kendrick took a deep breath, and was glad to be able to enjoy the scenery for once. They approached the library, which surprised the angel. "Do you usually come here, or is something different about today?" said Kendrick playfully. Surprising himself he leaned forward with the breeze to blow away the hair from Alexis's face.

Alexis was glad the streets were no longer populated. At least now there would be no-one to stare at her while she spoke to Kendrick. She raised an eyebrow lightly though as a small smile formed on her face. "No. I don't normally come here." she said, shrugging lightly. "I have a test coming up soon and need to study." She glanced in the Angel's general direction before heading up the steps to the library. She wouldn't be able to really talk in here, but as long as she was quiet, then it should be fine.

Silently he followed her up the steps. Depending on what she was studying perhaps he could help. Kendrick stopped himself from thinking such things, it wasn't his place nor his duty to do such things. The place was a beautiful place, austere yet warm and welcoming with it's wood interior, filled to bursting with books. They whispered their contents to people silently, asking to be read. "What is it you need to study for?" The angel found himself asking the question despite his earlier thoughts.

Alexis glanced at him.. Or rather, the direction of his voice. "I'm writing a report on how medicine today as evolved from medicine in the past." she said, her voice lowering about halfway through the sentence as she stepped through the doors to the library. Ever since her father die, it's been her goal to become a doctor so she'd be able to help other people who got sick and were dying.

Kendrick understood that all too well. He saw many people undertaking a career in medicine in order to prevent the deaths which had taken loved ones. He could only conclude that this was why Alexis was researching this particular subject. "I couldn't tell you. I only know things from a few years back, when I first became what I am." He shrugged, then became annoyed with himself. Just because she could hear him, didn't mean she could see Kendrick.

Alexis raised an eyebrow lightly. "You were changed a few years ago? When did you become.. What you are?" she asked, keeping her voice down low as she made her way to the medical section. She scanned the titles of the books, pulling out a few at random. She wasn't planning on getting a of books out at a time. She'll end up getting the information confused otherwise.

"Twelve years ago. It doesn't seem like very long when you're surrounded with people who have been angels since Egyptian times. Of course, then they weren't called angels." He smiled at Alexis, and found himself wishing she could see him as well. "It's all very subjective you know, and has a lot to do with culture." He had thought quite a bit about such things. It hadn't taken very long for him to realize that he dressed differently according to the culture of the people he was picking up. It was the color of his clothing that varied the most, sometimes white, sometimes red, and mostly black.

Alexis raised an eyebrow lightly. She knew that angels came back from ancient times, but she was surprised that some came from Egyptian times. She thought that maybe they die eventually and are reborn. Looks like she was wrong. She nodded slowly as took the books in her hand to a table in the corner. "If you changed 12 years ago, how long have you been a Death Angel?" she asked, curious if there were steps someone had to take to become one.

There didn't seem to be many people around, and none were near to the table Alexis had chosen. It was a relief for Kendrick as he considered her question. It was difficult to remember his beginnings in a human time frame. "For six years now, or around that at least. Before that I was a guardian, but I had no talent or want to be one. My charges tended to get into accidents, but none ever died unless it was their time." IT had been a prelude to his beginnings as death. A strange way of thinking of all those accidents. He had never really understood why they happened around him, until he had been told that he had been wrongly assigned from the very beginning.
