She looked up at him, confused at first then emotionless again. "You know you can be just as bad as me and you know it. At least I try to stay on the bright side." With that she went back to the sky and clearing her mind.
Vincent sighed slightly and started to walk away. He never could figure out humans. They seemed so caring at first and then they'd just change like that. He bowed his head though as he paused and glanced back at her.
"You know you look very nice in the moon light," he said impulsively. He shook his head slightly. "I'm sorry I must be getting tired," he said. "Sun should be coming up soon. Long night for me." He didn't know if she knew what he was but he didn't like being straightforward on the subject. |
She sighed "Thank you. Must of been hard to find someone to eat in this tiny town." She said it quietly but knew he could hear her. She kept focus on the moon, mainly, but drifted to the stars a little, too.
"I don't eat people," he said gently. "I merely drink their blood and don't worry I didn't kill them." He sighed slightly feeling a bit lonely for some reason.
"You know. Ever since they died I've wondered why I've felt so lonely. I can see things differently now and whenever I see two people connect so well it hurts. It makes me confused." He moved forward again not really wanting to hear her answer. Maybe she'd understand after his little explanation as to why he wasn't sleeping in the house, maybe not. |
She sighed and looked to him "Am I going to get any time to admire the stars or do I have to talk to you all night?" She said it a bit rudely but she was still hurt about what he called her before. "And it's not my fault you don't like my friends. I'm not giving up my best and only friend ever for you." She was blunt about it and didn't care. It was simple; if he didn't like her friend then he could take a hike, she wouldn't give up L for her own life.
Vincent shook his head slightly noticing she didn't get what he said at all. He flinched slightly at what she said realizing how unimportant he was. He left then, not going into the barn but going into the woods not far from there. He didn't care anymore since there really was no one out there for him.
He stared up at the hills before him and beyond them he saw the mountains. |
She sighed, knowing she couldn't live with it on her conscious mind that she made him walk away because of what she said. She followed him quietly. When she caught up to him she stopped "Sorry. I guess I don't like being called a brat. I was just trying to cheer you up before..." She said this softly and headed back to the house when she felt there was nothing more to say.
"You learn to leave things behind when your life means nothing to someone," he said before continuing forward. He wouldn't turn back even if he wanted to get one of the horses or a weapon to guard himself with.
She stopped and turned back. "nothing?" Was all she could ask, quietly stunned.
Vincent stopped in his tracks and turned back to look at her. "I don't know if I worded that right but you have everything going for you. You have a friend at that house that cares about you. What do I have? I have memories of friends that I saw killed for accidentally touching something that has less value than a piece of paper." He turned around again not mentioning what he thought she thought about him.
Her eyes filled with tears "You have me..." She whispered with a slightly shaking jaw.
Vincent turned again. He looked at her not understanding her completely. He approached her slowly. "Don't cry," he said gently.
She looked at him "Don't leave." was all she said with two tears rolling down her cheeks.
Vincent caught the tears. "Just realized something," he said looking down slightly. He didn't want to say it out loud but he was jealous of L because of how close he was to her.
She stared at him, waiting for him to say what, but he didn't so she asked, "What?"
Vincent shook his head slightly. "You'll have to figure it out," he said in a teasing voice. He moved back towards the house.
She sighed and stumbled clumsily after him. They were going down hill so she decided to scare him. She jumped after him and hugged him from behind "Well how am I supposed to figure it out if you don't give me any hints?" She giggled a little and let go, then ran in front of him and started walking backwards, which ended in her tripping and falling down half the hill, laughing.
Vincent blushed slightly when she hugged him from behind. "You'll figure it out eventually," she said with a slight smile.
He looked a bit worried when she started falling down the hill but relaxed when she started laughing. He was looking at the moon now and noticed that the sun was jut peaking over the horizon. He swore slightly and started running. "I need to get inside," he said a bit sharply. |
She laughed at L who was in front of his house with the door open, rubbing his eyes and looking around, confused. She ran up to him and hugged him "Mornin' L!" He looked bewildered when she hugged him, then smiled sleepily. "What y'all doin' awake at this hour? Morning isn't till nine!" She laughed "Can Vincent come inside? The sun hurts him." She made a pouty face and L smiled again "Of course he can!" She grinned "Thankiee L!" Then she let go of him and walked inside, leaving the door open for Vincent.
Vincent cringed slightly when he saw her hug L but managed to conceal it before anyone looked at him. He hadn't expected to be invited into the house but maybe it was good. He could remember being punished for doing something and he had been forced out into the sun for only a few seconds.
He walked in, thankful that he wouldn't have to worry about the sun shining through the cracks of the barn's walls. He felt tense again for some reason. He glanced to the right and then to the left to see what was bothering him. "Do you happen to have any silver in this house?" he asked randomly. |
Risa gasped "OH MY GEEZE I'm sorry my necklace..." She pulled off her necklace and hid it in her room. L look confused again "No, why?" He raised one eyebrow at Vincent's obvious tense stance. When Risa came back she looked worried "Better?" She asked, and L looked at her as if she was crazy. She just laughed then explained to L "Silver hurts him. It can even kill him if it's a silver tipped arrow, if it hits." She half smiled and L sighes din relief "Oh,
okay, like your parents, right?" She smiled more, but now it looked more evil "Exactly." |
Vincent glanced at Risa as though she had just given L a reason to kill him. He needed rest though. He didn't move though realizing that he was not in his own house, not that he ever owned one, and he didn't know which room he was to reside in. "Excuse me," he said in a bit of a quiet voice. "Where am I to sleep?"
Her eyes widened at his glance in shock. "There's a guest room you can have." She said quietly, staring to walk down the hall. She the house with a blind fold on, she'd been going there since she was three, and led him to the unused room. She walked in first and closed the curtains "Anything I can get you?" She asked quietly behind herself to him. L just sat on the couch and turned on the television when she started leading Vincent down the hell, confident in her knowledge of his house.
Vincent followed her and was very pleased to have a room to himself. He tried to ignore L though, who became even more bothersome as time went on. He knew he was jealous but he couldn't stop himself. When the curtains were closed and he entered he seemed pleased by how the room was set up.
"I can't think of anything at the moment," he said as he sat down on the bed. |
She smiled "Okay, then I'll give you your peace." She said happily, then closed the door behind her and joined L on the couch "What's on?" L looked at her and smiled "Nothing, really, I found a documentary and a vampire movie, which one you wanna watch?" She grinned "The vampire one. I wanna see how much they messed us up in this one!" She loved making fun of vampire movies that were horrible wrong in every way possible about their kind, it was almost a hobby of hers.
