Lana blushed. It really was quite cheesy but she liked it just the same. "Do you get so easily distracted often?" she asked, continuing to tease him.

Blake was doubtful. "Really?" he asked, "Do you fly then?" Personally Blake had never been on a plane and never planed to do so. The thought of flying terrified him, especially after the incident with his mother's death.

"No, I don't. As a jock I kinda have to keep my focus," Rex told her. He hoped he didn't sound conceited.

Karia laughed, "No, my family is horribly poor. I walked here, believe it or not.

Jock? She had never heard the term "jock" before. How did being a jock require Rex to focus? "A jock?" she asked, hoping she didn't sound silly.

Blake looked at her strangely, "Really?" he asked, unbelieving, "How can you afford to come here then?" He didn't think she could possibly be serious...

"I play on the sports team," Rex explained.

Karia smiled, "My family is poor cause we invested so much into the school."

"Oh..." she replied. Personally Lana had never played any sports further than what they did in gym. She found it a bit embarrassing to play in front of everyone else and wasn't really that good at most sports either.

Rex thought hard for a moment. "I'd give them all up in a moment though... I just need the perfect excuse."

"Why?" asked Lana, cocking her head sideways a bit. She didn't really understand why he'd stop playing them all, unless he suddenly developed a dislike for sports or something.

"When your like me nobody leaves you alone," Rex told her. "It all went to my head, and then I saw a spectacular girl, and I realized I should probably quit if I don't like them anymore."

Lana thought for a moment, wondering what it would be like to be as popular as Rex apparently was. Just as she did so she remembered the advice that Karia had given that she should steer clear of Rex. She felt a little bit torn... Rex seemed fairly nice to her, but then again at the same time Karia seemed to be looking out for her as well. Breaking herself away from her thoughts she realized that she still hadn't replied to Rex, "Oh... I see..." she said, not really realizing that he had been talking about her.

"Oh... I see." Blake was a bit taken aback by her answer. And he had thought that he and Lana had a hard time with finances. If it wasn't for their uncle they would never be able to afford coming here.

"You know, that girl is you," Rex said sweetly.

Lana blushed again, not quite sure how to reply to his sweet compliment.

"The school really isn't all that great," Karia pointed out. "I don't mean the building, but the teachers. We couldn't afford the best."

Rex looked at Lana then began staring at his shoes. "I'm sorry if you are uncomfortable with what I've been saying."

Lana watched Rex carefully has he looked at her and then away. She cocked her head slightly wondering what he was thinking until he revealed his thoughts to her. "It's okay..." she said quietly. He hadn't really been making her uncomfortable, just a little bit awkward since she wasn't used to talking so much.

Blake quietly pondered what she said. Is that how their uncle could afford to send them here? The place looked fairly expensive but apparently looks could be deceiving? It was something he'd have to figure out in time. "Oh, I see..." he said, lowering his head slightly. He felt bad now for asking...

"I'm sorry," Rex said. "I guess it has only been twenty minutes since we met, and I've already fell for you."

Karia raised an eyebrow, "Are you okay?"

Lana blushed yet again. This was her first experience with anything like this and she really didn't know how to react at all. "I don't know what to say..." she replied shyly despite the fact that her face was lit up in a warm glow of happiness.

"Yeah!" Blake said, almost jumping as she brought him out of his brooding, "I guess I'm just a bit hungry..." he said, rubbing his stomach lightly, "I didn't really have much for breakfast."

"Sometimes no words at all is everything you need," Rex told her, smiling.

"No problem at all!" Karia said, getting up and going to the closet and pulling out a cooler of food. "Help yourself!"

Lana watched his expression as he spoke to her. He looked really nice when he smiled like that but she was too shy to mention it.

Blake watched as Karia pulled a cooler out of her closet. He was so surprised by her action that he sat there speechless for a moment before responding, "Thanks!" he said happy for her offer, "What sort of goodies do you have in there?" he asked teasingly.

Rex sighed, "I'm sorry if your uncomfortable with my actions."

Karia smiled, "Just stolen pizza and deserts from the cafeteria."

"It's okay..." Lana replied quietly, still smiling. She looked up when she noticed that Karia had some food to offer. "Can I share?" she asked quietly, embarrassed at asking for something that wasn't directly offered to her.

Blake smiled even brighter, "Mmm... Pizza. You know right how to get to a man's heart!" he said, laughing lightly as he went to collect a piece from her cooler of goodies.

"Everybody dig in!" Karia said cheerfully. Then she directed her attention towards Blake again. "Are you saying I got to your heart." She winked, then turned away, blushing.

Rex grabbed a slice of pizza. "You know Karia, someday you'll get caught if ya do this too much."

Karia raised an eyebrow. "This is practically my familys school, getting caught is the least of my problems."

"Maybe I am!" said Blake, chuckling lightly again. He really wasn't sure what had gotten into him. Just earlier that day he had been his usual quiet and restrained self but it seemed that moving to this new school was doing a bit of good for him.

Grabbing a slice of pizza out of the box he took a hearty bite. Looking up he caught sight of Lana and Rex. He had almost forgotten that they were there...

Lana made her way over to the cooler after Rex and took a small slice of pizza. She carefully bit off the very tip and savored its taste. In her opinion the very tip was the best part of a slice of pizza.

Karia blushed again and fell to her knees. She hid her face with her hands, this was too much for her to handle.


"This is just a tiny sample of the schools food," Rex informed Lana. "This may just be the worst of it."

Lana just nodded to Rex, she didn't think it was too bad but it probably could be a bit better...

Blake was completely surprised when Karia fell. Dropping his pizza he knelt down beside her, "Karia? What's wrong?" he asked, concerned, "Are you sick?"

Lana was just a surprised as Blake when Karia collapsed. She set down her pizza and went around Blake to touch her room mate's shoulder, "Karia?" she asked, sounding worried.

"I-I'm fine," Karia said in a squeaky voice. "Just a little... uh... shy around people." It was the best answer she could come up with, even if it wasn't very truthful.

Rex just stood by the closet. He knew this was normal behavior for Karia.

Blake looked on, still worried about Karia. "Maybe you should rest for a bit..." he suggested, his voice still carrying a tone of concern.

Lana listened to Karia's response. She knew how it was like to be shy around people but Karia didn't really seem that way. She doubted that it was the reason for her trouble but she kept that thought to herself. "Maybe a bit of rest would be good..." she said, backing up Blake's idea.
