Bio:Both Lana and her brother Blake have been living with relatives since the death of their parents. A few years ago their mother died during a plane crash while on a business trip and their father committed suicide shortly after. Since then Lana has become withdrawn and shy. She relies heavily on her brother for support and is hesitant in coming to her new school.
Other: Lana is extremely quiet. She's very intelligent and her grades are superb. Since the death of her parents she has immersed herself in her schoolwork as a way to distract herself from the pain.

Bio:Since the death of their father Blake has stepped up to take care of both himself and his sister. He cares for his sister very much but is worried that she may be too withdrawn. Recently their uncle suggested sending them to a boarding school to help them both start again.
Other: Blake's personality changes quite often. He can have a hot temper at times but it always cools down quickly. His grades have not been very good lately between toggling jobs and helping his sister but he hopes to be able to focus more on his studies.

Karia was in her dorm room, laying on her bed and staring at the ceiling. She was waiting for her roommate to arive so they could start talking about how the day went.

Rex was by the pool on the roof, drying off and wondering whether the school would win the swimming competition.

Lana stepped out of the car and looked up at the dorm that would soon become her home. It looked so daunting... Shivering slightly she picked up her bags and waited for her brother before following him up the stairs and into the building. Looking back she watched as her uncle's car drove away.

Blake waved goodbye to his uncle before leading Lana up the steps. He could tell she was nervous but he hoped she'd get used to the place soon enough. Rechecking the letter that told their room numbers he lead his sister up to her room before leaving to go find his own.

Lana watched as her brother walked away down the hallway and she had to force herself not to run after him. Shivering again she turned to look at the door before her before giving a light knock against the wooden surface.

Karia kept waiting. She didn't know who her roomate would be, but she hoped she'd be an awesome person to talk to. She never really had a roommate before, she was use to the principal giving her a room to herself. This was exciting though. Karia could spend the night talking instead of looking at the ceiling. She heard a knock on the door, and she opened the door slowly and saw a girl that looked at least two years younger than her. Karia gave her a warm smile and stepped aside to let her in. "Hello!" she said kindly.

Rex was walking to his room, looking around to see if there was anybody worth talking to on the way. Apparently everybody was in their rooms, because nobody attacking him, asking him for an autograph. Rex was one of the most popular boys in the school, everybody seemed to look upon him as a leader. Well, as a jock that was sortta obvious. He was good at all sports and was the only reason the school teams won every match they played. He entered his room and layed upon his bed, thinking of himself and how great he was. He had not expected a person to enter the room, which happened ten minutes after he had laid down on his bed.

Lana anxiously awaited to see if anyone would answer. She was just beginning to hope that perhaps she would have a room to herself when the door finally swung back from her frame. The girl who stood in the doorway greeted her warmly and Lana nervously smiled and said a quiet "hello". She watched as the girl stepped aside and carefully pulled her belongings through the door. She wasn't used to living in the same room with anyone and wasn't quite sure how to react or what to say to her new room mate.

Blake wandered the halls, taking his time as he went. He paid careful attention to all the side hallways and did his best to remember them. It would make things a bit easier on when he would have to traverse them. Sighing he stopped as he finally reached the room that was assigned to him. Carefully tucking away his acceptance letter he gave a knock at the door and then waited to see if anyone would respond. It would be interesting to have another male as a room mate. Since the death of his parents Blake hadn't had much time to do anything that boys his age would normally do. Between taking care of his sister, working odd jobs, and homework that hardly ever left time for anything else.

Karia smiled and helped the girl with her luggage. "Hello! My name is Karia! I welcome you to Dark Crystal High!" she said cheerfully.

Rex opened the door and glared at the person on the other side. He went back to his bed and started staring at the ceiling again. "So, the finally got me a roommate or are you the janitor?"

Lana was grateful for the help with her luggage. Though she didn't have much it was quite heavy to carry. Closing the door behind her Lana looked up as Karia introduced herself. She looked to be a bit older than herself and looked quite pretty with her long blond hair. "I'm Lana..." she replied simply as she began to ponder at the name of the school. Neither her brother nor her uncle had informed her about it and now that she knew it seemed quite scary to her.

Blake was quite surprised when someone answered the door only to abruptly leave him standing there alone. Taken aback Blake carried his belongings into the room before closing the door. All of his notions of befriending his new roommate seemed to be thrown out the window at once. This boy seemed so rude! How could they ever possibly get along? Blake sighed and threw his bags down on the bed, "I'm Blake, I'll be rooming with you for this semester."

Karia smiled, "Well, it's nice to meet you Lana. I hope you have a great time here. If you ever need any help you can just ask me!" Karia went to the closet and pulled out some sheets and pillows and began making the other bed for her. She then walked to the closet yet again and grabbed a blanket. She took the one off her bed and laid it out on Lana's. "Here, you can have the better blanket, I don't really need it."

Rex continued staring at the ceiling. He honestly didn't care either who this person was and if he was staying in his room. "The name's Rex." he said. "Just a warning, make me mad and half the school will be after you."

Lana nodded to Karia offer and watched, a bit confused, as she began making her bed. She was so dumbfounded by the action that Lana just stood there watching her work. She was even more surprised when the girl took one of the blankets off of her own bed and replaced it atop Lana's new one. "Th-thanks!" she replied, her voice raising ever so slightly form it's whisper. She bent down and unzipped one of her bags before carefully removing a rather tattered looking stuffed animal. Gently cradling a plush fish with rainbow scales she carried it over to the bed before ever so carefully placing it atop the pillow as a finishing touch.

Blake listened to Rex's introduction but didn't reply. The more he listened to the guy talk to more angry he became. Keeping his emotions in tact he unzipped his bags and began putting away his carefully folded clothing in the small wardrobe that was provided.

Karia smiled sweetly as Lana went around doing things. "I can already see we are going to be such good friends!" she said kindly. "Oh, here's a little tip to survive, don't get involved with the jocks, they are major trouble. Especially Rex, he is so conceited."

Rex snickered a little as the boy put away his belongings. "Don't talk much eh? That's a really awesome start in this school," Rex said, rolling his eyes.

Lana smiled ever so slightly. At least her room mate seemed nice... She had heard rumors about what people could be like in a boarding school and was quite pleased to get someone who didn't seem to be like the "preps" that some people talked about. Lana listened to Karia's advice with more attention than was necessary and nodded, solemnly taking her words to heart. She would remember this Rex and be sure to avoid him. Turning around she began taking care of the rest of her things, putting her clothes away in her closet and her few possessions in her desk drawer. She didn't really have much, no electronics to speak of or any sorts of games or makeup or anything else that young people her age might be interested in.

Blake continued to take the boy's badgering without saying a thing. Although there had been some jerks at his previous school he never had to deal with them much. You only had to be with them while at school and when you left for the day you could forget about them. Living in a dorm you had to deal with these sorts of people all the time... Blake wondered how he would ever get through it all. Maybe he'd make some other friends and be able to spend as little time with his room mate as possible. After he finished putting away his clothes he opened his other bag and began putting his other things away as well.

Karia was thinking to herself. She had a clear mind and all she could think of was one simple question. She was burning to ask, and hopefully it wouldn't offend her. "Uh, do you have a brother?"

Rex was starting to get ticked, nobody in their right mind ignored him. "Dude, you better start talking." he told him threateningly.

Lana looked up as she finished putting away her things. "A brother?" she asked quietly, "Yes." she said simply, wondering if the girl had possibly seen Blake somewhere or if she just wanted to know.

Blake stopped what he was doing and turned to look at Rex. He stared at the boy for a moment before quietly responding, "Does the silence bother you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, it's nothing, I was just wondering," Karia started to blush, not a good sign. She hoped that Lana wouldn't see through this.

Rex shook his head, "Nobody ignores me pal? Okay?"

Lana was completely oblivious. Tucking her bags away she climbed up atop her bed and carefully took her fish off of the pillow. Holding it in her hands she looked down at it, seemed to observe it's mood or something strange like that before setting it back down atop the pillow and looking up again.

Blake just shook his head. What was the worst that this kid could do to him? The obvious one would be to beat him up, the guy did seem pretty strong. Other than that nothing really? Unless he somehow set something up that would get him expelled from the school... Either way neither of those options sounded very good. "I see..." he said vaguely. I really had nothing to say to Rex.

"What's his name?" Karia asked. There was a lot going through her mind. Either it was just her, or she was really desperate to find somebody. "I'm sorry, I just lose control sometimes."

Rex snorted. He really couldn't believe he had a roommate like this. He got up and looked through the window to see who may be on the other side in the girls dorm. He could see one girl, who looked like she was doing something with a pillow. "Wow, she's cute," he said without thinking.

Lana opened her mouth to answer Karia's question but stopped when she apologized. Lana was still fairly young and a bit naive and she didn't really catch onto what Karia meant. Shrugging she answered her anyway, "His name is Blake..." she said almost absentmindedly as she began swinging her legs back and forth, unsure of what to do now that she was fairly settled in her new room.

Blake heard Rex snort and just ignored him. He finished putting away his things and was just wondering what he should do next when his roommate made a comment about some girl out the window. He didn't bother the see what he might be looking at. The guy probably went through girls as much as he changed his shirt.

"What an awesome name," Karia said dreamily. She had no idea about what Lana might think of this. "Oh, I'm really sorry. I'm just a little lonely."

Rex continued looking through the window. He saw the girl speaking to another. He recognized her immediately. "Hey, it looks like this girl moved in with Karia! Dang, she's really cute. Do you have any siblings or you an only child?" Rex forgot totally that he had been snappy towards Blake the other minute.

Lana just nodded. She never bothered to think about the sense or sound of her brother's name... It was just a name, no different from any other really. Lana wondered how Karia could be lonely since she was in the room with her at the moment but she didn't decide to comment on that either.

Blake just sighed as the guy continued to rant about one of the girls who was apparently visible outside of the window. He turned to look at his new roommate when he asked about siblings. "Why would you care?" Blake asked somewhat coldly, still a bit cranky from the treatment he had received earlier.

Karia regain her senses. "I'm so sorry, I really shouldn't be looking for a man. I hope I didn't freak you out."

Rex looked at Blake for a couple seconds and decided to answer the question. "I think it's a little odd that two people arrive here on the same day."

Lana blinked, Karia was looking for a man? She really didn't know what to think about that, especially the fact that Karia was possibly interested in her brother. Honestly the idea seemed quite absurd to her. Blake had never really had a girlfriend before or expressed interest in one though she did know that a lot of boys his age were into that sort of thing. She wondered if maybe her brother was too even though he had never mentioned anything about it to her before.

Blake eyed Rex suspiciously, "What are you talking about?" he asked, his annoyance quite clear in the tone of his voice. Obviously his sister had moved in the same day as him but wasn't that normal? And how would Rex have know about that? Was he watching when they pulled up or something? Or maybe he had seen them walking in the hall?
