Crossing her arms, Verona pouted her lips out a bit, and frowned.
"Meanie." She told him, pouting fully now. It wouldn't be that complicated really. She only thought of it, as showing how much she loved him. Something like that. She wouldn't say anything else though, since he was so opposed to the idea. Verona wouldn't pester him with it, if he found it so repulsive. Although, if he had done so with so many other women, why not her? |
Ezekiel of course knew that it could not be complicated and yet there were complications. He respected Verona so much that he had been tied between accepting this offer and doing what he had done.
"Don't pout," he pleaded. "It will come some day, just not so soon." He was beginning to wish, for some odd reason he could just run away so that he wouldn't have to torture her with his refusal. If he could be in that one form, that 'beautiful' form rather than this tarnished one than maybe she would be distracted for at least a moment. |
Verona only shook her head, in a rather annoyed fashion, and turned away from Ezekiel.
It was needless to say that she was disappointed. Maybe it was the fact that she was being rejected that bothered her.. But she was almost sure, that it was because he had slept with so many other people, but he said he loved her, and then wouldn't do so with her? It was an odd thought, but certainly it made sense. "Whatever.." She said bluntly. |
Ezekiel watched her with a perplexed expression. He didn't understand it. He'd taken an oath earlier, with his cousin Veronica that he would not do it again until he was married.
He'd taken it mostly to avoid those nasty heartaches that he'd occasionally felt when the relationship went poorly. A ripple went down his spine and he hadn't realized that something had begun to change. He had felt something change in him and an unbearable guilt had crossed over him. He wanted to change now, despite the fact he would never say it out loud and would never truly admit it to anyone. When it seemed to have ended he found himself sitting in his previous form. He was shocked for the most part and his tail flicked, brushing up against the back of Verona's legs, from utter annoyance. |
"What!?" Verona snapped back, whirling around, only to see the beautiful animal from before.
She was shocked, or devastated more like it as she clasped her hands over her mouth, and let out a scream. "Ezekiel!?" She asked terrified. "What!? I though it was broken!? What happened!?" The only explanation would have been that it wasn't broken, but he had somehow been able to suppress his feelings, and then was somehow happy about all of her pouting. Well that sure made a lot of sense didn't it? No, I don't think so. |
Ezekiel slunk down when he heard the fear that seemed to grasp her. A look of shame and guilt cross his wearied face as his tail lowered. He didn't understand it either and her look made him feel worse.
He began to slink away from her, mostly instinctively and out of fear, heading towards the river. He was tense and the slightest scare would make him flee. He was fast in this form too, which made it easier from him to get away despite the fact he never truly attempted it. Sebastian had come back up front because he'd heard Ezekiel scream. He looked concerned when he saw Ezekiel and the stance he was in. "What did you do to him?" he asked a bit sharply. "He looks like he's just seen a ghost." |
Verona's eyes cut sharply at Sebastian, as he acted like all of this was somehow her fault.
"Shut up!" She screamed at him as she ran towards Ezekiel now, trying to get to him. Her shoes had somehow managed to come off again, but whatever, she could make it work. Now see.. She didn't have to say anything to him.. She could have just jumped on him or something. And that probably would have been harder to resist than puppy-dog-eyes. |
Sebastian looked confused when she yelled at him. He stepped back slightly and the excitement had made Ezekiel a bit shocked. He had bolted after she yelled though he was a bit tired at the moment and made him run slower than usual.
Fear raced through his body as he tried to stop. The river appeared faster than he imagined it would. He could just see it on the horizon now. When his foot caught on something in tumbled forward into a summersault, landing flat on his back in a confused daze. It was only halfway between where he had sprung from and the river. An annoyed meow like sound escaped from him, almost sounding like a groan. |
Verona in the mean time, was gasping for air, desperate for it as she dashed on towards the direction in which he was headed.
And when she saw him, she sighed with relief. "Ezekiel.." She said softly, approaching him as fast as she could, which was now, a very slow walk. When she mad it to him, she flopped down next to him, and exhaled deeply. "Please don't do that anymore." She told him. "You'll be the death of me, I swear." |
Ezekiel let out a sigh of air and moved his head so that he could see her. The eyes reflected almost exactly what he was thinking at the moment and he snorted slightly.
He licked her face gently and rolled over on his side so that he was facing her. When he'd adjusted himself he nuzzled her hand slightly and moved it so his head was resting on it. His fur was soft, almost silky but there were the areas where he'd had his scars. They almost looked worse in this form but he was completely unaware of them. |
Smiling softly, Verona bent down to him a bit, eventually sprawling out into the leaves with him.
She even lay her head on his chest. "You're not so mean.." She told him, stroking his face. "I don't see you killing anyone.." She had of course, been referring to when he had said he was dangerous, and hadn't wanted to hurt her.. |
He growled slightly after she had spoken since he couldn't back himself up on that one. He would have been angry at that point since he usually was when he was angry.
An idea sprung into his head at that moment. If he walked into town like this with Verona then maybe they wouldn't seem him as evil. It didn't seem like a likely thing so he brushed it off slightly and licked Verona's hand again. It was almost as if he was begging for her to stroke him. He had never really had someone run there fingers through his fur and he'd always been curious. |
"See," she said. "NO comment."
But she didn't need Ezekiel to lick her skin, to know that he wanted to be petted.. She just knew. And of course, she granted his request. She rolled onto her stomach, and began to stroke him from top to bottom, like a house cat. "How's that?" She asked. |
Ezekiel had rested his head down when she had switched over onto her stomach. When she ran her fingers through his fur her purred softly.
He was beginning to feel calm now, which was good since he had been so frightened before. His tail twitched slightly and he moved a paw forward slightly as if he were stretching. |
Purring hmm?
Verona couldn't deny that it was indeed a sweet sound. And as he hands floated deeper through his hair, she smiled. She certainly had a taste for the odd guys huh? But he was all she needed now.. |
Ezekiel had shut his eyes now and his ears were back. His purring continued though half the time he didn't realize he was actually purring.
He would carry her home, he'd decided this while laying there beside her. She had looked exhausted and he could have run a lot further but he had fallen. |
Verona was a bit exhausted, and that showed through as she mostly was laying on top of him.
But it didn't stop her from working her hands over his hair. I was so soft.. Like silk. |
Ezekiel moved slightly as if he felt the sun's heat. It was almost too hot for him due to his thick fur and he attempted to stand up.
He looked at Verona who was making it hard to do so and let out a slight sigh and giving up for the present moment. |
She could feel Ezekiel shifting under her body, and sat up slightly.
She smiled on him, her legs a bit sore already, from her lack of exercise. She remembered that day when Ezekiel had told her to run back to her home.. Her body had been so terribly sore that night. She had really been pushing her limits with that one. |
Ezekiel stood and motioned for her to follow him. He would carry her if he could but he wasn't sure if he was large enough to do that.
He headed towards the river where he could cool off and she could rest in a shaded area. His thoughts lingering mostly on the idea of going home. A wedding would be planned if he were allowed to come back and Verona would get what she wished for. |
Verona only shuffled after him through the heat, and smiled as she saw the river.
At least they would get some of their day together.. She instantly was on the bank, dipping her toes into the cool water, closing her eyes as a gentle breeze floated over her. She would miss things like this, if she were ever able to go back home. |
Ezekiel grinned as he looked at the river and sat down next to her. He drank slowly and let his front paws hang to the edge and just barely touch the water.
It was cooler by the water do to the fact that there were more trees around this area. He could already feel himself becoming more comfortable and the wind ruffled his fur slightly. |
Verona smiled at Ezekiel, and then dropped into the water.
It felt so cool against her skin, as she came up smiling. It was chilly, but it worked. |
Ezekiel inched forward, staring at the water and not quite sure if he wanted to go in this time. He knew there should be a bank somewhere near here where he could get in slowly but knowing he would never be able to touch the bottom bothered him.
He looked at her now that she was at the same level as he was and licked her face. |
Laughing a bit, Verona turned her face to the side, as if trying to hide it from a dog that liked to lick to "give kisses."
"Come on." She told him. "I can help you stand.." She had a formulated plan now, that she would hold him onto his hind legs, and support some of his weight onto her body. It would be difficult, but she wouldn't mind. |
