Brodie was confused, to say the least. Somehow, things made at least a little bit of sense before that moment. I was supposed to die, but I didn't. Now something's trying to kill me- and this guy's one of those somethings(even if he doesn't look much like a killing something) but he's not going to kill me. And he won't kill me because a neurosurgeon with miracle dragon-like tendencies told him not to? The more he ran through it in his head the more it sounded like a dream. But he felt more awake and alert than ever, this felt more real than the last few weeks had.
Once again, there was a knock at the door. "Hey, ki- uh, Brodie Fisher," the familiar muffled voice of the nurse came from behind the door, "Your parents are at the front desk, you're free to leave now." ((I wasn't sure if she'd be able to see Shozii or not.)) |
Taking the elevator up to the fifth floor, Andrew led Hideto down the hallway and to the door of an apartment. Unlocking it, he pushed it open and stepped inside the large apartment. Inside, the walls were painted a light blue color, the furniture was all black, right down to the slate coffee table in front of the couch. The hallway that lead to three bedrooms and a bathroom was straight through the room across from the door, and the space past the living room to the left had an amazing view into the city.
To the left wall of the living room was lined with a big screen television in the corner across from the door, a bookcase full of DVDs, video games, and other such things, and two computer desks with two sophisticated computer set ups, including two monitors per computer. A white cat slept curled up on a black chair, a black cat sleeping sprawled out over the coffee table. A young man laid on the couch against the wall and to the right of the door, asleep with a small black kitten laying on his chest, a backpack on the floor next to the couch. Andrew sighed and closed the door once Hideto had stepped in. "Feel free to use the computers, television, the phone, whatever," he said, taking off his white doctor's coat and hanging it up on a hat and coat rack that sat to the left of the door. "Help yourself to anything in the kitchen, it's through there," he said, pointing at the half of the room with the wall made of windows that was now apparent that it was the dinning room. Past it and to the left was a large kitchen, and hidden from view were the washer and dryer that were up against one of the walls. "Ignore him," he said, motioning to the sleeping man. "His apartment building is being fumigated." He walked across the room and into the hallway, opening up the first door on the right and tossing the leather book inside and to the bed. Closing the door again, he walked to the end of the hallway and opened up the door to the third room. "There's a guest bedroom here, if you'd like some privacy or you'd like to sleep here," he said, leaving the door open for Hideto. "Bathroom is here," he continued, pointing to the door across from the guest room. "I'm going to catch some sleep while I can." He stepped into the first room on the left and pushed the door closed so he could sleep. "Do you want me to follow you downstairs?" he asked Brodie, his brightly colored eyes focused solely on the boy. ((Phantom: The guest room also was a good-sized TV and it also has a good computer hookup. True: Yes, the nurse could see Shozii, but he's a familiar sight around the hospital so she wouldn't really have said anything anyways. I'm going to restart my computer because MSN refuses to load. Be back soon.)) |
Brodie thought for a second, this Reaper guy was a bit scary, but not as scary as the thought of something that wanted to kill him, "If it's not too much trouble?"
Brodie stepped forward and opened the door. The nurse, now with a more relieved expression, led him to where his parents were waiting. ((What about Brodie's parents?)) |
"Mm." He nodded a little and stood up properly, his hands dropping from his chest to his sides as he followed a few steps behind Brodie.
((They'll be able to see him unless he conceals himself.)) |
Hideto stepped into the guest room, still looking around at everything in fascination. He felt almost afraid to touch anything, even though he'd been given permission. But everything just seemed...indescribable, to him.
After a moment of hesitation, he headed over to the computer, wanting to speak to some of his friends from his last school...and maybe do a little research on this whole reaper business. If anyone else knew about it...someone was bound to have posted something on the internet. Also, maybe he could look up some information on Dr. Cozu, so he could prove to his father that he was okay... |
The white cat stretched as it awoke, it's eyes following the stranger as he went down the hallway. Cocking his head to the side curiously, the cat hopped off the couch and followed behind him. The animal stopped just before stepping into the room, wondering what someone so strange was doing in it's home.
With a loud purring chirp, it darted into the room and jumped up into Hideto's lap, staring up at him with eyes that matched Andrew's. |
Hideto held back a startled scream upon feeling something jump into his lap, and laughed slightly when he realized it was just a cat. "You scared me for a second there, buddy," he laughed, scratching the cat behind the ear. He soon noticed the cat's blue eyes, and smiled gently.
"So, I'm guessing you and the doctor get along pretty well?" |
The cat purred loudly and rubbed up against his chest, before turning in his lap to look up at the computer screen, as though wanting to know what he was doing. He put his paws up on the edge of the keyboard and sniffed at it, curious as to what a stranger would want with the machine.
|
"So, do you know how to type?" Hideto laughed, greatly amused by the cat's fascination with the computer. "You have any favorite websites?" He always felt rather silly talking to cats like this...but hey, he'd done more pointless things before.
|
Besnik walked towards the hospital curiously... And just realized that to have access to the entire hospital he needed to either be someone vising a patient or someone on the staff. He casually walked in and went down a hall, searching for the locker room he knew must be here. Finally, he found the staff room, entered and found some doctor jackets. He put one on that said, "Dr. Hill." For now, he'd pretend to be this doctor and hopefully none of the other staff members would take note of him and his fraud.

(sorry, I will go send it.)

((Thoth, that's completely unbelievable.
Aura, you're supposed toPM profiles to True or post them in the OOC thread, not here.)) The cat merowed loudly and pressed the space bar of the keyboard, liking the sound it made. Tiredly, the man on the couch began to move, putting the kitten down on the couch and sitting up. He blinked for a moment and got up, heading down the hallway and into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. A few minutes later he came out of the bathroom, his face and hair damp from the water he'd used to wake himself up better. Turning to go back out into the living room, the light of the computer from across the hall caught his bright red eyes. Arching a brow slightly, he peeked into the room, only to find a complete stranger with the white cat on his lap. "How did you get in here?" he asked, leaning against the door frame and watching the could-be intruder. |
Hideto laughed as the cat pressed at the space bar, wondering if this was common, then suddenly heard someone speaking to him. He was slightly startled; not expecting to have been directly addressed...but hey, there was another person here, so it wasn't that surprising.
"Dr. Cozu brought me here," he replied, hoping he wouldn't seem too suspicious. He hated being questioned. |
"Andrew?" he asked, standing up properly. "He doesn't normally bring rescues home with him. Did something go wrong?" he asked, stepping a bit farther into the room. His face could be seen a bit better in the light cast by the computer, though the color of his eyes was tainted by the blueish glow.
His eyes had a very slight oriental look to them, though if he were in fact Asian, he'd be only a forth or less, for his eyes also had the shape that most Americans and Europeans had. His face was also angular, though oddly smooth at the same time. |
"Wrong? Well...I don't really know what 'wrong' is anymore...but..." Hideto started, then paused briefly as he realized he didn't know whether saying what happened was a good idea or not. Clearly this man did seem to know something...probably a lot. But was it really a good idea to say what happened?
"I...I guess you could say so." |
"I guess I'll just find out from him whenever he wakes up," he sighed, crossing his arms over his chest. The little black kitten he'd been sleeping with stepped into the room and brushed up against his feet, mewing softly to get his attention.
"Go back out there, Mamimi," he told the cat, looking down at it and giving her a gentle nudge with his foot. |
As Hideto's eyes adjusted to the dim light of the room, he couldn't help but notice this man had some rather interesting features...and also couldn't help but start to question his habit of not turning lights on until he started bumping into things. Not only did this man sound like he knew at least a bit about what was going on...he kinda looked like it, too.
"I..I'm sorry if this seems rude, but...who are you?" he asked, now growing a bit curious. |
"His son, after a fashion," he said with a weak smile. "My parents died when I was really young. Andrew raised me." He held his hand out to Hideto in the offer of a handshake. "Name's Zaitsu."
The kitten mewed and stood on her hind legs, batting at Zaitsu's ankles. "The kitten is Mamimi, the cat in your lap is Hunter, and the cat still sleeping in the living room is Rascal," he added quickly. Mamimi mewed again and sat on his foot. |
"Ah, I'm very sorry...about what happened," Hideto said, an old photo of his own mother now clearly visible in his mind. "My name is Hideto...it's nice to meet you," he added as he shook Zaitsu's hand. Well, now he felt rather silly for holding anything back...
"I guess...if you've lived here, you know a lot about...things, right?" |
"Things?" he asked, resisting a laugh. "I know who and what Andrew is, the same for Shozii, if that's what you mean. It's obvious that something happened. Andrew almost never brings home a rescue. Last rescue he brought home was me."
He crouched down to pick up the small kitten, before standing back up. "So what happened?" |
Hideto sighed, not quite sure of what to say or how to say it...but still, now that he'd been so obviously asked, he felt the need to explain to the best of his ability.
"I think there's at least one...reaper, out there...who isn't exactly happy with the fact that I'm alive. I was...apparently scheduled to be hit by a car...but Andrew saved me. After that...I don't really know what happened, but Shozii got into an argument with...someone I couldn't see...I'm pretty sure it was another reaper. Sounded like he or she...wanted to 'correct' the...'bookkeeping issue'," he said, a little nervous. "At least...that's what I've figured out about it. This whole concept...is new to me..." |
"There are thousands of reapers throughout the world. Of course they're going to get upset when their reaps are taken. But you were Shozii's reap, so whoever the other reaper is has no business in this. I guess that's why you're here, then. To protect you from whoever it is that decided to intrude on the situation."
|
Hideto sighed again, scratching Hunter behind the ears again. They always said cats helped you relax...and they were right. Suddenly, another question came into his mind as he remembered the incident from earlier.
"Have you ever heard of a reaper...causing an accident...to get rid of a white name?" |
"Yeah. But while you're name is white, you might as well be indestructible. It's hard to get rid of a white name. Last time a reaper killed one of Andrew's rescues, Andrew killed the reaper. As long as you're with Andrew or Shozii, you're safe. Shozii may be a reaper, but he respects Andrew's wishes, even if he disagrees with them."
|
"I don't know whether to be relieved or scared," Hideto said, laughing slightly. It was true...he was a bit relieved. He was afraid that someone would get him...at least it wouldn't be easy; that was very definitely a relief.
"So...it's possible to...kill a reaper? How does someone do that? I don't think I'd be able to live with myself if I tried or anything, but...I'm curious." |
