Kira cringed at the scream, tempted to cover her ears. She looked around, trying to find the source of the screaming. It was the second time, leading her to believe that someone was either in trouble or was really afraid of blood. She nodded at Shan, looking up at the rain. True, it was intimidating and could make someone go insane if they didn't know that they were in the Dream World.
|
"Yuki, is it such a good idea for your mother to venture out alone?" Ari asked as he watched the back of Shan quickly disappear into the bloody world outside. As powerful as angels are, they weren't invulnerable - or at least, that's what he believed. It was better to be safe than sorry, especially when all of them depended on her to act as their guide. Yet, he didn't want to go against Shan's wishes... so he decided to ask her son, and seek his opinion.
|
Yuki thought for a moment, then gave an answer as best as he was capable of. "Well, angels aren't untouchable or anything of the sort, but they seem to suffer less from the harshness of nature. Not that this seems very natural. Still, she's stronger than she looks, and she avoids walking into helpless situations. I'm sure she won't leave us to our own devices. "
Outside, Shan kept searching. Flying was not an option, as the visibility was poor. Everything looked red. Her feet were becoming sticky with blood. Mud seemed like such a better thing to be covered in. Still she kept going, tempted to call out to the source of the scream. |
Ani didnt hear Shan go, or anything she said for that matter. She was pouring through memories, stripping her mind apart. This was someones nightmare, it must of been...and she had a distinct feeling it was someone she had known. But she wasnt that close to anyone.
Micheals form was stretched out in a red line. He had passed out from fear. |
(( i'm back, what's happend?))
|
((Not much, Shan is off looking for the source of a terrible scream. The blood is pouring thicker in sheets almost now as well. ^^))
|
"Good to know." Ari said after the reply from Yuki with a small sigh. They were trapped here, for now. The blood, due to its opaque quality, made navigation by any means difficult... not to mention that it was messy to travel through. Unless, of course, somebody could conjure a force field around them and transported them through levitation, a feat by any standards. Then again, you'd never know what powers these people hold, he thought to himself as he looked into the dense foliage that Shira had woven over their heads.
"Could this be a manifestation, then, of someone's fears? A Nightmare?" Ari casually asked as he watched a droplet of blood slide of the edge of a leaf far overhead. |
Shira sighed, she was glad however that the tree cover that she had created for the group was working very well. Though blood was coming down all around them, they were more or less staying dry. She had heard the scream that Shan had heard and she didn't like it one bit. In fact it sent chills up and down her spine. She wanted to do something to help but she couldn't figure what. This wasn't good if this was the manisfestation of someone's nightmare than what if hers came true. That wouldn't be good for anybody.

Yuki looked at the ground fixedly. "I feel like maybe I should have come with her, but I suppose she feels I'm needed here just in case." Even knowing this, Yuki felt uneasy. The rain was becoming thicker, and the smell more oppressive. Everything looked darker and it made him extremely uncomfortable.
Shan kept walking, and almost stepped on something, or rather, almost miss-stepped on something. The weight of the blood had thrown her balance off, causing her to step on something she had been trying to step over. Her wings weren't helping. She almost fell over but managed to stay standing. Anything was better than falling. She noticed that the surface of whatever she had stepped on was slick and unnatural, blood excluded. She knelt, avoiding the ground as mush as she could and realized that she was looking at a man. The reason she hadn't heard more screaming was because the source had passed out. She tapped him on the side of his face gently. "Hello...?" Oh please, wake up... |
Shira looked over at Yuki and forced a smile " it's okay kid. i'm sure she's fine. " Shira tried to sound reassuring but her voice betrayed her.
(ugh! >.< sorry one-line post )) |
It all clicked into place in a moment that Ari asked his question. "It is..." She said her hand coming to her mouth in a gasp. Why the hell would he be out here? She asked herself in thought.
A voice vibrated in his head, "Hello...hello...hello...." It was over and over again. But it was empty, his brain was not working, all he felt was emptiness, his body in shock he wasnt able to move. All that came from him was his shallow breathing. |
((I missed all the fun blood rain! T_T
Faith, i checked out you devart... SO PRETTY! I love the costume designs XD)) Phineas's eyes fluttered open. Had he passed out? How embarassing... His legs throbbed gently and the new stitches itched like mad, but the bandages were wound too well for him to undo all of Ani's good work. Barred from scratching the itch, he looked around and saw what everyone else seemed to be looking at... it was... it was raining blood? He got shakily to his hands and approached the edge of the shelter, looking first at the blood-soaked ground and then at the sky from whence it came. "What....?" he asked. |
Yuki looked up at Ani, startled. "Is something the matter?"As he waited for an answer, he looked over at the edge of the shelter where Phineas had moved to when he had woken up. Looking at the downpour made him more uneasy. He wanted to believe Shira, but it was difficult
After a while, Shan was able to tell that the man wouldn't get up no matter what she did. She'd have to carry him on is back, and the present conditions made that quite hard. She managed to hoist him on her back, but she couldn't hold him and cover herself at the same time, so she slung that over her shoulder. Getting back up to the cave would be ...interesting. She began climbing up, slipping occasionally, wiping her eyes often. When she got close to the springs, she had to stop. The blood covering the man had caused him to slide down too far, and she had to put him in a position that was more comfortable for her; she was not in the mood to worry about his comfort at the moment. |
"I think it would be a good idea to set some sort of barrier on the ground as well," Ari casually suggested as he watched the thick liquid began to slowly crawl towards their circle, threatening to overflow at any moment. They had all been so busy looking into the rain. He knelt down and quickly made a grabbing motion in the air while in motion, and then quickly draw a circle around himself with the fist. It was a ribbon of air that he had created and bound with his magic to send into a wider circle around all of them that rose perhaps a handspan off of the ground. Its velocity and angle to the ground allowed it to simply turn back any blood that touched it, though occasional droplets still touched the inner rim and gave a red tint to the orginally clear barrier. Ani's soft gasp had escaped his attention, but Yuki's question brought the young man's blue eyes to her shocked visage anyways.
"Not your Nightmare, is it?" he asked as he straightened to full height once again, crossing his arms infront of his chest. Sparing a look at Phineas, Ari sighed. "I suppose this is the reason why we have to stop the further expansion of the Dreamworld... Phineas, we are possibly caught in the middle of someone's Nightmare - someone who, apparently, holds... extreme emotions concerning blood baths. The most interesting part is perhaps the form that the blood fall has taken..." Almost like a blood bath. Ari thought while he let his voice trail off in thought, but then looked at Phineas again. "Shan went out to investigate the source of screams that we had heard earlier. I'm worried about her wings in particular - the blood soaked feathers on all six of them may prove to be heavier than imagined... but then again, Yuki did say she's stronger than she looks. I suppose it's best that we just believe in her." ((Haha, thanks Steff!)) |
Shan somehow managed to make it to the cave. Almost slipping on the clear barrier, she had to hold on to the edge of the cave to safely step inside. By now she was completely covered in red. Droplets of blood clung to her eyelashes, while some of the blood was already drying. "I need help," she said, motioning to the lump of a man on her back. She wanted to put him down. Needed to put him down. She was beginning to feel sick.
Yuki froze the moment his mother came in. The only reason he had recognized her was because she'd spoken. Almost every inch of her was dyed red. |
Phineas shifted from one hand to the other in agitation. Shan was out there...
"Nightmares..." he muttered. "they come... when? Must you sleeping?" His curiousity was curtailed by Shan's arrival. If he could have flailed his arms as he ran to her, he would have. A muddy angel was funny. A bloody angel was horrifying. ((good morning folks! I'm at work again...)) |
[[Good morning! And I'm at school.. again.. Oh summer, come to me!! ;_;
So.. my brain just did this odd thing where it pictured Shan in two different situations, covered in mud, or blood, and repetition eventually led me to mudblood. Go figure.. o.e; ]] Shan looked down at Phineas. "Oh good, you're awake..." She trailed off as the sickening sensation within her increased. The urge to drop the body pressed at her, but she resisted, if just barely. "So, um.. what happened?" Yuki asked apprehensively. His mother was not exactly in good conditions. "I found him on the floor," Shan replied. "He passed out by the time I got to him though. I almost missed him ." |
"Here," Ari ran forward to take the unconsious body from Shan's shoulders. "You look like you're about to be sick. Go sit down." He was still thinking about Phineas's question, though. Indeed, how did one make a Nightmare go away? Had it taken a physical, corporal form, he imagined that you would only have to kill it or defeat it in a fight. But when it's like this... I wonder if it's his. He thought as he looked up into the sky. As the man's skin pressed against his forearms, he realized that whoever he was, the man was cold. "Maybe it'd be a good idea if we warm him up in the hot springs, even if it's half-filled with blood." He said as he carried the man into the protected circle and gently laid him on the ground.
((haha, school was over for me last Friday. Tommorow's graduation!)) |
[[No fair! TT^TT
But congrats!! XD gah... I had typed a paragraph and accidentally closed the window ;_; I have to try and remember now XD;; ]] Shan sat down, relieved of her burden. "Not a good idea," she stated briefly at Ari's suggestion. "The springs are overflowing with blood." She pulled her legs close to her chest and leaned her face against her knees. Because no other angel had been exposed to such a blood bath, the effects of it on an angel were unknown. These unrecorded effects were what Shan was feeling. Angels were sensitive to life and death; blood could represent both. Angels welcomed life and recoiled from death. Her body was attempting to do both, confused. It was this push and pull in her own body that made Shan feel sick. |
((Hehehe! Graduationnnn yay! I graduate... twice... the 13th and 14th. Department of architecture and urban planning, and then the whole university commencement thingy... but then I'll be working full time!! O_O
Speaking of which... still an hour til lunch. I am so hungry. >_>)) Phineas hurried to Shan's side and made comforting noises (the same ones she'd made for him the night before) as he ripped a piece of cloth off the end of his toga. He started wiping at her skin with the slightly damp cloth, trying to mimic the gentle touch of Ani while holding back his urge to rub as hard as he could at the blood, trying to scrape it off skin. The result was a sort of tentative waxing motion that made little pink circles of smeared blood and skin wherever he touched. |
[[Everyone's graduating~.. well.. not everyone, but still! XD
My teachers are all packing final projects on me D8; Must.. endure... Polka-dot angel... XD << this is seriously what my brain comes up with.. ]] Shan looked up upon being touched. She hadn't quite been expecting it, but was grateful for any sort of contact. Somehow, the fact that any of the blood was coming off at all amazed her. She felt trapped by it. Yuki took his own cloak off, and tore out a large piece from it. He walked over to his mother, and he too started to wipe the blood away from her skin. It was difficult to do. The blood had a very dense quality to it, and when one area was clean, there was blood waiting to cover it again. |
((actually I was thinking polka-dot angel, too ^_^"))
"Do the rain again?" Phineas suggested, looking at Yuki. His scrap was pretty soaked with the blood and there wasn't much left that he could spare for more scraps. If he'd still had sense of smell he would be able to tell what or who the blood came from. As it was now, it was just making his stomach rumble inappropriately. He didn't think his new friends would appreciate the fact that the rain enhanced, rather than stunted, his appetite... |
[[OMG Phineas... If he rips any more of his clothing I will go down the gutter XD; ]]
Yuki took two more pieces from his cloak and handed one of them to Phineas. He most certainly did not want him to rip any other part of his makeshift clothing. He looked over at the strange man whom his mother had been searching for. "Maybe this is his nightmare..." It was no longer his nightmare alone though. Yuki kept dabbing at his mother's face, as well as any other exposed skin. Her hair and wings looked much harder to clean than her skin was. He wondered what they would have to do. Shan kept her uncovered eye open, looking at one of the dark shadows on the opposite wall to keep her occupied as the two boys helped her get cleaned. her clothes were becoming stiff and dry, and she could not move her wings properly. |
((Madam, you make me blush furious shades of red as I sit in front of the computer. People will think I am looking at something indecent!))
Phineas hardly spared the bloody man a second glance. "Maybe we awake him and it will stop to raining?" he asked. He had a few ideas on HOW to wake him. He nodded thanks as he accepted Yuki's proffered cloth and began to use it on Shan. He nonchalantly stuck a tip of the used cloth into his mouth, trying to look casual as he inconspicuously chewed on it. The blood didn't taste as good as it would have if it had been gushing out of a recently caught animal... in fact, it tasted awful. The human taste must not be highly developed enough to enjoy the flavour of life's wine. ((And now I leave for fencing! See you later tonight! (wow, this makes me realize what an overbooked person I am lately) XD yay fencing)) |
((Sorry guys!))
Ani shook her head, "Not mine..." She trailed off as she spotted Shan, blood soaked. "Oh no! I should of gone with you." She muttered as she helped her in. And there was the answer she knew to her question. "Micheal." It was a whisper, clear and unemotional. Ani looked at the others, "This is his nightmare, Something I doubt he would want me to explain to you." She said looking from the blood soaked Micheal to everyone else. "He will wake up shortly." She said looking at his pupils. |
