((Oh... does that mean we should stop or something? O-o))
Phineas looked at Shan, his brain turning swift little cogs of thought against the cogs of emotion. They came to a compromise. He trusted Shan, of course he did. He sat down and rummaged through his clothing. There was a jingle and a little pouch, made of the same cloth as the toga, appeared in his hand. "How much... do I have here?" he asked, shyly. He unfolded the pouch on the grass and revealed a handful of golden coins, all from different countries, some from dream worlds. There were a few silver coins as well, and some small sculptures, trinkets of a kingdom. A small rainbow of jewels and rings sparkled as if they'd been recently shined. And nestled among it all was a leather pouch the size of a robin's egg. It was tied shut. "Is it enough for food?" His pride was wilting quickly. |
[[Yeah, most likely. I'll wait for the others to post before I post the next bit ^^ ]]
Shan knelt in front of Phineas. "Wow. There is definitely enough for food in there. More than we can carry, probably." She took a couple of decent-sized golden coins, and a few more of the silver ones. One of the gold coins would suffice for a good amount of food; the rest would be used to get Phineas some sturdy clothing. She put everything else back in his bag and handed it to him. They would probably have to find a more secure way for him to carry his possessions. "You've traveled quite a bit, then?" she asked, remembering the different kinds of coins. |
((so what does the new stage MEAN? is it a place for new people to join or something?))
|
Kira looked around the area, not feeling very hungry. She looked at the amount of coins that Phineas had in the pouch, raising an eyebrow. How much was that really? She didn't have that many coins, though maybe enough to buy a few essentials.
|
[[a new stage usually signifies a new place. Some will have room for new people to join, but some don't. Particularly the ones at the very end. Having someone enter at the end would be weird to me XD;
Also: some stages will be more than just one place, but with something that those places have in common]] |
((Gah, I can't help it, I have to respond to this... ^_^"))
"Yes" he nodded. He had travelled very far before settling in his own lair, and this was only a small portion of the riches he'd gained on his travels as a dragon. Shan didn't seem like she was going to give the coins back... "Wait, WAIT!" Phineas cried, frantically grabbing Shan's hand. He pried open her fingers and grabbed two of the coins. "This one is Ephimone! And this one... this is Perphonese!" His eyes were huge with conflict. He stared at the two coins for a bit, then swallowed dryly. "Goodbye..." he muttered something in broken draconic and kissed the coins as if they were his own children. He handed them back to Shan, gamely holding back tears. "They will continue to travel, yes?" |
[[oh god, he's so adorable.. I just want to SQUISH HIM
do you have any idea how hard it is for me to not respond? *resist resist resist resist phail* LAST TIME, I SWEAR!!]] Shan looked at him, perplexed by the boy, but endeared at the same time. She gave him a hug, saying,"Of course they will continue to travel, Phineas. And I'm sure people will treasure them dearly," she added. "No harm shall come their way." She kissed his forehead and stood up, making sure to put the pair of coins in a safe place. |
((yeah, I am so seriously addicted to this roleplay, just watching it sit here all lonely and paused makes me jittery to write something O_o I guess I could just... like... WRITE something, you know, not... post-like. In MSword. ^_^' Doy.))

((Lolz))
Ani had no gold in coin form, all she had was lumps of gold and silver, a few gems and diamonds for trading. It had all came from the earth, deep within, where man has never set foot in looking for items like such. She was eager to get into town, not for food, since she doesnt eat any meat but fruits and vegetables alone. She wanted to purchase some more seeds, another bottle of honey and various other items that her pouch was lacking in. |
((LOL well I guess would it help if I don't respond??? I haven't been home and it's almost 3 in the morning... my open house is tommorow too so I won't be able to respond then either. >.<))

[[NOES! I left my USB Drive at home ;_; I had my school projects in there.. and my RP thingies.. D8; << Super advanced vocabulary]]

((I have the worst luck with those buggers. Fall quarter, my boyfriend accidentally broke the tip off it during finals week and it had all of my stuff for one class in there, so I had to solder it back together and be all frantic. Winter quarter, the new stick I got... got stolen. During... finals week. With my most recent model in it, so I had to redo the whole thing, and since I was designing a highrise residential building, that took a while.
Here's hoping nothing bad happens to this stick this week!!! T_T)) |
[[Sorry to hear about your bad luck DX; well, I'm home now. I'll do this right before getting started on my HW XD; ]]
The town was not too far from where they stood (if at all), so the travelers reached it within minutes. There were many blocks of houses, with the main streets composed of shopping centers where a traveler could buy all sorts things, from small trinkets, to fancy clothing. However, because none of the townspeople looked very rich at all, the source of these items was questionable... Shan looked around, trying to figure out just what type of clothing Phineas would agree to. She didn't want to spend his precious gold coins on something he wouldn't want to wear. Yuki looked around, never having been in a place like this before. He was not used to dirt road and wooden buildings. This place seemed a tad desolate. There did seem to be a fair amount of shops though. |
((OMOMGOMG I am so ready! I missed this ^_^''''''))
Phineas was slightly cheered by the news that people would cherish his little shiny friends. He half followed Shan, half followed his nose. He stopped in front of a bakery and stared, wide-eyed, at the little tarts and breads they were selling there. A perfectly round bun lured him closer. He could smell something within it... and he was sure he was probably drooling. But he couldn't help himself. |
Kira looked around as they entered the town, tempted by some of the trinkets. Maybe she could opt for some haggling. She sniffed the air, smelling some fresh baked goods, but decided not to follow the scent. She looked at Phineas who seemed to be drawn to it. Was he drooling? Maybe he was hungry or just loved it.
|
The owner of the bakery was so ready for customers that she immediately went up to the door and looked down at Phineas. There was nothing in her countenance that said she had noticed his missing limbs. "Is there something you want, dear?" she asked politely.
Shan looked down at Phineas. He'd probably never had anything from a bakery shop before, seeing as how he was not human. Not to mention, he was quite reluctant to part with his gold. "Pick out a few that you like," she told him, "and I will get them for you." Yuki looked at the smaller tarts, figuring he would be alright if he only had one. He was shy, but sugar made him do what he felt were very unbecoming, embarrassing things. "Um...mama.. I would like one too," he managed to pipe out nervously. Shan smiled. "Would you, now?" she asked with a smile. "Which one then?" Her son rarely seemed to ask for anything, so when he did, she was happy to oblige. When he told her that any of the smaller ones would be fine, she began to eye them herself. |
Phineas pulled himself up so his eyes peeked over the edge of the display and excitedly pointed out the round bun, and also a little tart that was so overflowing with berries that it could have choked a deer. He had looked up and down the almost empty street of the town and spotted a few different foods on the way down it. Now he remembered the variety and controlled himself. A bun and tart would be enough. He wanted to try THAT. And THAT, too. Ooh, and whatever that other thing was. He grinned at Yuki. "What is these?" he asked. He couldn't read what the sign said anyway. He was running on pure stomach.
|
Yuki looked at the items then pointed to many of them, naming them as he pointed, and providing a short description of what each one was made of. He was getting hungrier for these delightful little foods than he would have liked, but said nothing about that little fact.
As her son talked with Phineas, Shan picked out a few of the smaller pastries and the woman handed them all to her, waiting patiently for the two boys. Shan had a pretty good idea of what she would do with the chocolate ones if no one decided to take them. |
Phineas was amazed at the amount of permutations of ingredients that were available. If he hadn't seen (and smelled) the other foods himself, he would have been satisfied believing that humans only ate these things for their whole lives.
When Yuki finished up his list, the dragon boy was grinning broadly. "You know a lots about these, yes?" he asked, suggestively, his eyes twinkling merrily. ((time to go catch that stupid bus. Be back later ^_^ Gah I can't wait!!!)) |
[[I fear you must! XD I shall wait *_*.. ugh.. I'm making myself hungry D8; And I keep bumping into avatars with cakes on their head ...]]
Yuki nodded, quite red in the face. He knew quite a bit about these things, and it was all because of his cravings. This made him feel self-conscious for a reason, as if his cravings were not really normal. Still, Phineas's smile was calming enough, if not distracting. "Is there one you like best?" |
Fingering the few spare coins in his pockets, Ari eyed the pastries with want - he was hungry, after all. But perhaps it was better if he sought more lasting food elsewhere in the town. I wish I could be a little kid again, he thought as he looked at Phineas and Yuki. For all of his ninenteen winters, he felt old standing in this crowd - even next to creatures whose age went well into the triple digits.
"Shan, would it be better if we weren't all in a group?" Ari asked. "I think we'd be less conspicuous if we split into groups... I'd like to go check out the smithy, if it's okay, and see if there's an affordable tavern where we can go eat - personally I'd like something hot... something that's meat. I know you're a vegetarian... but I miss the taste and feel of something solid in my stomach." He said half apologetically, smiling almost in shame. "And then maybe we can meet somehwere at an appointed time?" |
Shan thought about each place Ari mentioned as he mentioned it, trying to remember where each was located. "How much time do you think you would need?" She asked. She wasn't too sure whether staying in this town for a full day was a good idea or not. They would certainly need a proper place to rest before heading out into the other places.
|
Phineas looked confused. "One I like best?" He sniffed, looking for all the world like a strange little dog. He peered into the back of the shop. Something back there smelled delicious... but wrong. It didn't have the same fresh quality to it as the things up front. Alarm bells chimed in his mind. He hastily pointed at the round bun he'd pointed at earlier. "I expect this one will be quite good."
((I wish that ALL the buses had Wifi. I took my lumpy laptop home today and it was totally pointless. Sigh... Waitaminute, avatars with cake on their heads what now?)) |
[[Aw, sorry to hear that DX
I wish I had a laptop... XD]] Yuki looked at the very same bun. It did look quite good. Phineas would probably enjoy it, despite the fact that he seemed more inclined towards thing with blood in, or on, them. The woman took Phineas's bun in a napkin and handed it to him, then waited for payment. Once Shan handed her the right amount of silver pieces, the woman disappeared behind the door, and didn't reappear again. She got what she wanted, and that was that. Shan took one of the smaller chocolate buns from the bag for herself and offered the rest to the surrounding travelers. "Would anyone else like one?" she asked, holding the bag up, open enough so that they could all see. As she waited, she took one for Yuki as well, and handed it to him. His hands always looked so tiny. |
"Not sure, not too long." Ari shrugged, looking up at the sun as he tried to estimate the time of the day. "Should we stay in town tonight or try to make more progress to beat Micheal to the Dream Weaver?" He spoke after the woman left, and picked out a random bun from the bag as he spoke. He took a smile bite and tried to not swallow and take another bite too eagerly. "Would anybody want to come with me, first of all?" He looked around their raggedy group, expectant.
