Phineas didn't have much in the way of manners. No sooner was the bun in his hands, he'd sunk his pointy teeth into it to kill it. It was mostly bread until the middle, which was some sort of fragrant mixture of spices and fruit. He vampired into the center, sucking it out until only a bready carcass was left. Which he promptly ate. It took him all of a few second to devour the bun... napkin and all.
Phineas looked at everyone around him. Shan was still in the process of offering the buns to the rest of the group, and here he was already finished. He blushed furiously, but already he felt much better than he had for days. He hadn't realized how hungry and weak he'd been until now. He licked his fingers contemplatively. |
Had they no sooner entered the little town that she spotted an all herb and potions shop. It was tiny, but then again they didnt need too much room. Without a word she walked into it, the bell ringing as the door closed behind her. She watched out the window for a moment, mentally noting that the others were at the bakery. She did not want to spoil her appetite with sweets. She was a vegetarian, but she wanted a wholesome meal right then. There was an old man sitting behind the counter, his eyes buried inside a book twice as thick as her own leather bound spell book. Ani browsed the shelves along the walls. She had in her hand two tiny bottles of honey, several packs of seeds of various elements as well as some roots and some other various things. Her hands were full as she walked up to the counter, laying the things off neatly. As she paid with a gold lump, she took out the empty honey bottle in her pouch and handed it to the man, he took it and placed it behind the counter as she filled her pouch with the new items. She nodded her thanks and left the store, the bell jingling once again, lightly this time as she walked further away.

Shan had still been thinking about leaving when Ari asked the question. "Well, it would be nice to gain some distance on him," she began. "And there is a town not too far from this one. I'm not sure if we will get there in time, though. We've already lost more than have the day." She thought of the mishap earlier and gave herself a mental shake. Ani had gone to do her own shopping already, so Shan would have to wait to ask the questions that were on her mind.
Yuki watched as Phineas devoured the helpless bun at unbelievable speed. He must have been incredibly hungry. He ate his significantly smaller bun, still watching Phineas, who looked like he could devour his own fingers. |
Phineas probably could devour his own fingers. His teeth were sharp enough and he apparently had few qualms with subracting body parts from himself if necessary. But it wasn't necessary. He waited in embarassed silence for Shan to work out what to do while the group was in the town. He hoped more food was in order...

Shan made up her mind fairly quickly. "I think we'll stay here for tonight. Micheal can't get far enough on his own anyway, especially on a single day. There are also some things I'll need to buy, besides food." She looked down at Phineas, who seemed rather bothered by something. Had he eaten his bun already?

Phineas looked up at Shan, feeling her eyes on him. He smiled self-consciously. There was some bun filling on his nose. He really didn't want to make a nuisance of himself, but he spoke before he could stop his mouth from opening. "Is there more?"

Shan knelt in front of Phineas and wiped the filling from his nose with part of the bag the pastries were in. She'd probably keep this bag for future use. "Yes, there is more," she said to him, showing him the contents of said bag. "Pick two for now. We'll be getting more food later."

Phineas quickly found the tart he'd been eyeing earlier and another bun. He paused with the tart halfway to his mouth and wracked his brain for the right phrase. "Thank you?" He was pretty sure that was it. Someone had said he ought to say that, but it was almost a whole day in the past now.

Ani walked her way towards the group, the pouch on her side heavy with a renewed load. "What is the plan Shan?" She asked impulsively ruffling Phineas's hair as he scarfed down his food. She smiled, he needed more to eat and not be ashamed of it. He was skinny and needed foods with nutrients to restore blood and other depleted resources in his body since the unfortunate accident with his legs.
Micheal was walking behind the town, the outskirts of the town if you will. He needed nothing so didnt stop to take another path into town. He stopped for a moment feeling the presence of the group he had left not far behind, plus his nostrils filled with stale blood, at first he thought he was smelling the blood from the clothes of the group from the rain, along with the blood from the wound on the legless boy. But it wasnt stale alone, it was strong fresh blood..coming from that town. He raised an eyebrow, but continued on his way. |
Phineas scarfed down the rest of the food, not waiting to hear if his thank you had been correct or not. He couldn't "walk" and eat at the same time, and he didn't want to be left behind during the exploration of the town. He looked up at Ani and grinned a mouthful of berry-stained teeth at her. It would have looked frighteningly like blood except the bliss on his face made him look even younger than he actually was. He unthinkingly wiped his hands on the folds of his toga, leaving crumby juice stains there as well. Then he looked down and made a sound of surprise at the mess he'd made.

"You're welcome, dear," she said to Phineas, then turned to Ani. "I think we will stay here for tonight so that I can get some things we might need. And..." she trailed off for a moment, unsure that she wanted to tread this ground. "I think I'd like to talk to you alone for a bit," she finally said after a while. Her curiosity was nagging at her and she needed to sate it.
Yuki kept looking at Phineas. His newly rumpled hair gave him a more wild look, but also a more childish look. Desite the fact that Phineas had pointed out that he was not a child, Yuki was always under the impression that they were the same age. And wow, did he look messy. They'd probably have to tell him to stop wiping himself on his clothes. |
Ani smiled back at Phineas as well as Yuki, before looking at Shan and nodding.
She torn a piece of rag from her dress and used it wipe Phineas face and try to clean him up a bit, "We really need to get you some proper clothes." She said. As she stood up she turned to Shan, "Wheres the clothing shop?" ((Sorry...Im kinda having writers block.)) |

Phineas himself wasn't very good at comparing people by age or appearance. They were who they were, and maturity wasn't really a factor in it. That would probably change as he met more people, now that he was at least of a relative species. "Mmm" he said, through Ani's fussy wiping. He tried again when she was done. "Clothing? For me?" He remembered the coins he'd allowed Shan to take from him and looked a little suspicious. "Does it taste good?" |

*pokes Steff* Maybe we all need some coffee *_* ]] "Oh, I was about to head over there right now," Shan said, in a form of reply. "Let's see... the clothing shop I trust the most would be that way." She pointed down the street, at a spot about 50 yards away from them. "Not to say that the other shops don't have good clothing. It's just the people that bother me." She looked down at the two boys. "Ready, you two?" Yuki nodded, finishing off as much as he was willing to eat at the moment. He stopped in his track, though, at Phineas's last question. "Sorry dear," Shan told him. "You can't quite eat those. They are for you to wear." She took the sleeve of her kimono in her hand. "Something like this." |

Ani nodded and began following Shan, a small smile on her face at Phineas's question, "Dont worry, there will be more stuff for you to eat when we finish your clothes shopping." She said. |

Yuki walked alongside his mother. He needed a new cloak for himself, as he had left the other behind, ripped into pieces. Phineas, on the other hand, would need a full set of clothes. Shan stopped at the shop and took a good look at Phineas. Some nice, dark, earthy colors would suit him well. Possibly some gold trim as well, as a tribute to his two precious coins. |
((I take 4 spoons of sugar and milk. XD Sometimes 3 if Im eating cake or biscuits with it. XP))
Ani followed along, she wasnt paying much attention to the shop they stood outside of, but the vacant street they stood on. It was only their little traveling group that was scattered about doing their business. She hadnt seen anyone else except for the shopkeepers. ((EDIT: off to take a shower. ^^)) |
Shan measured Phineas out with her eyes, pretty sure that he wouldn't pick out clothes on his own. Then she stood up, commenting, "it's really empty, isn't it? There are more people inside the taverns and inns, but hardly anyone outside." It was the reason shopkeepers were so alert. The shopkeeper of this particular place was eying their group with hunger. She asked all of them to remain outside and went into the shop herself.

Kira snapped back into reality, realizing that she spaced out and was now walking along with the group. She looked around, trying to find a shop full of shiny things. It wasn't that she necessarily loved them, but she had always been one for eye candy and what better than a souvenir from the dream world? She looked at Phineas, realizing that he probably needed some clothes. Of course that would be a good reason why they were here.

Shan came back out of the shop a good while later, with a medium-sized package in her hands, wrapped up in brown paper and some rope. Or course they wouldn't have Phineas change in the middle of the street, even when there were so little people. "Well then, is there anything any of you would like?We'll be here the whole day, so it doesn't matter how long we stay out, as long as we find a place to stay at night."

((Yay for work. I'm off the clock now. Eek, you guys got to post while I was busy! T_T I don't drink coffee, it upsets my stomach. I could do with tea, but we have hot chocolate here. Although I must say today's brew was pretty watery. (also lactose intolerant, so no milky chocolate. bleah)))
Phineas stayed outside of the shop, not really wanting to see what he was getting in exchange for his coins. He knew he'd probably just raise a fuss. Besides, he trusted Shan to know what to do. He had no idea what kind of clothing to expect. He didn't want to tell her that he wouldn't want to wear anything like what she was wearing... there was just something NOT MANLY about it, plus it looked stiff, what with the tight Obi and layers of cloth upon cloth. Instead he explored the empty street, reveling in his full-ish stomach and the less rocky land before him. The boy threw himself at the ground and practiced tumbling without jamming his legs. Every time he messed up he hissed in pain, but kept going. His arms ached with strengthening muscules. He looked at Yuki and grinned, thinking of a way to phrase his challenge... "Ah, you... um. Run to there and back, with me... faster!" ugh, that didn't come out right at all. His smile looked a little more apologetic, though still sly. ((Off to the bus with me! Brbs soon)) |
Yuki stared at Phineas, baffled. "Y...you want me to race with you?" he asked, hands clasped behind himself nervously. He'd never raced anyone quite like Phineas before, and he wasn't too eager, either. "Um.. I .. guess I could...?"

(( Um, yeah... T_T I live an hour away from both school and work (though it takes 1.5 hours to school and 2 hours to work, stupid schedule). I am very familiar with the bus system here. SIGH. I WILL move out of my parents house soon. Seriously had enough!!! At least with a bus you can sleep while on the freeway. And not pay $4.25/gallon for gas.))
Phineas nodded vigourously. "Yes, yes, race! From here to there" he indicated the end of the small street, "back to here again. You want? Not for serious, for fun! I want to knows, what fastness I am compared to you. For knowing." He took a second to wind his vocabulary back onto it's reel. "So I can know." he reiterated. He looked up at the others around him. "Then I will race you, yes?" |
[[I don't even drive XD I'm getting a loan so I can live away from home next year, because I can't stand going from the bus, to the subway to the train, and then backwards every day. I checked the route. I know what I'd have to do. And Subways make me feel claustrophobic D8; ]]
"Oh, um, okay," Yuki said, still obviously unsure. He couldn't remember ever racing with anything and anyone. "But.. how do we decide when to start?" he asked. "I do think I could help you with that,"Shan stated, grinning. "You both wait, ready, and the moment I say 'go', you begin. Does that sound fair?" |
((I take the train and bus... there's this stupid bus tunnel that is slower than it was using surface streets while they were modifying it for use. So bullcrap.))
Phineas nodded. He looked at Yuki. "Try really hard, yes?" He shifted from one hand to the other, ready to go. |
