[[LOL. Phineas XD;;;
I pictured him chomping on a human XD; OMNOMNOM]] "So, four salads, one steak, Chickpea Salad and Spinach-Asparagus Wraps, yes?" She asked before continuing. "We have lots of blood!" Her smile this time was truly disturbing. "We have chicken blood, cow blood, bull blood, deer blood, sheep blood, bear blood, moose blood, fish blood, and blood of things we can't even name!" At this point, Yuki was directly behind Shan, unwilling to step further away from Layla because that also meant moving away from his mother. They were really going to sleep here, weren't they? |
((hahah, I was waiting for her to say dragon blood so I could eat HER. XD))
Phineas thought for a moment and decided. "Moose." he said, not knowing what it was without seeing one, but liking the way the word rolled over itself. The woman was acting so casual about the blood thing that he hadn't yet realized how weird it was that they offered it here. ((and is Phinney the only non-vegetarian here? XD hehehehehe)) |
[[Oh god, haven't posted in a while!!]]
Seeing that no one volunteered, Ari gladly departed with the thought that he would no longer have to entertain company, and that he could walk freely without the others around. It was easy for Shan to navigate around, but as for Ari, he had to either follow his senses or ask for directions. Something about the eagerness of the town's inhabitants bothered him - they wanted business badly, but that was all they wanted... or so it seemed. The weapons master he found was a little different. The beast of a man had harsh lines carved into his face, and his smile seemed no different from a grimace due to the prominent scar across his cheek. He was completely bald, with the only hair visible growing in thick curls from his chin. A good chunk of his right ear was missing, and dangling from the lob of the left one was a thin silver band. He simply grunted as the thin slip of a boy walked up to him, blue eyes curious. "Go away boy... I don't have to play with you." The hammer gripped tightly in his veined hands smashed down onto the hammer, sending up a shower of bright sparks. "I'm not here to play." Ari sniffed, a little offended. His chin tilted up in a rather sullen manner, a hint of the boyish nature that Ari still held. He took out a part of his collection of blades and asked the man to sharpen them. Leaning back against one of the beams which supported the craftsman’s work area, the boy kept both eyes on his ware - until he saw the woman. It was only a glimpse, but that was enough to startle Ari. Was he imagining things? He could've sworn that the woman who had walked past them just now had no face - literally. Disturbed, he looked back at the master who did not seem to have noticed Ari's reaction and began to process the observations he had made about the town. It was obvious that there had been better times. None of the folks here were rich, and only some seemed desperate; the weapons master working on his blades was not one of them. Nevertheless, there seemed to be something off about the man. The woman without the face continued to surface in his mind, creating a distraction that refused to dissipate even when Ari wanted it to. Before leaving, Ari also purchased a long-bow with a dozen arrows that varied in weight and length. He had noticed earlier that none of them carried a weapon which would serve them well in long-ranged attacks. He would have to practice with these, of course, to familiarize himself with them; his new purchase added weight to his back, but they also created comfort. He also found a thick cloak for himself at a thrift shop and then a number of other essentials for surviving in the wild at a merchant's stall. Ari made a few inquiries, but the man wasn't interested in answering his questions and gave him short, curt answers that irritated Ari to the edge of his patience. "Well, why -" he began, but a floating man walking by stopped the stream of words that was about to hurtle past his lips. The man wasn't exactly floating, but he had no feet to carry him on the ground, it was as if he simply wore a pair of shoes that made his feet invisible. Entranced, Ari followed him. None of the others who passed he man seemed as curious or behaved as if anything was out of the norm. They ended at the tavern, and curiously enough, that was where his group of friends gathered. As he walked to sit himself at the table, he heard the woman's odd exclamation about blood. He looked at the woman strangely before sitting himself besides Ani, who looked like she had arrived just recently herself. "What a strange place..." he muttered, before asking for ale and bread with half of a roasted pheasant. He was hungry enough to eat an entire cow. |
((Faith, let us partake of Cows, then. I just realized I have no idea what season it is around here... either Phinney is dressed appropriately or he's freezing his butt off and didn't notice it.))
Phineas lowered himself from the counter and looked up at the faces around him, smiling at them. "How nice!" he said, genuinely impressed with the service. Then again, it was the first service he'd experienced. He wondered vaguely if the blood would be freshly squeezed. |
"Indeed..." Ani responded to Ari's remark. She noticed for a moment that it was the actual first time she had spoken to him since he joined the group. Shrugging to herself lightly she waited for the woman to stop talking ans grinning like a fool with something to hide and bring the their food and requests.
((3.22am...finally finished my paper. >.0 Lolz...always cow talk. XD I dont eat beef myself..my mum and my sister loves it. My dad cant eat it cause hes Hindu. I just dont like the taste. >< I although like beef liver. *v*)) |
((congratulations on the paper!!))

[[Another hint at eating Cows? XD
Congrats to Dusty! I think Dragons are one of those things they can't name LOL]] "Well HEY there!" Layla practically shouted when Ari came in. "Are you hungry too? Like some meat? Vegetarian? Bloodthirsty?" It's too bad she never asked, Do you want to punch me in the face? A few probably felt like doing that there and then. Shan kept her composure, despite her wishes. By the looks of Ari's face, he had seen quite a few strange things. The man with no feet, for instance, who Layla seemed to ignore completely. No money. No service. |
((xD @Dusty: Congrats.
Man, everyone just loves loves Cows don't they? Well maybe not Dusty...)) Kira looked surprised when the waiter suddenly shouted at Ari when he came in. That's an odd way to greet someone or at least annoying. She looked at Ari who seemed a bit surprised himself. Did he see something? |
Shan shifted her weight a little bit, to look back at her soon. He looked fine enough, but nervous. "We'll be away from her soon enough," she told him quietly.
|
((wow, is she, like, going insane or something? I'm imagining her face falling off... kinda creepy))
Phineas cringed away from the lady, whose enthusiasm had finally grown too great even for his taste. |
[[I shoud totally make her face fall off... LOL But I have something else planned for her XD ]]
"I'll just go get all your things then,"Layla said, and she vanished behind a door. Shan sighed with relief (and so did a few others, probably). "Thank goodness she's gone. Her face is so disturbing that I do wish she didn't have one. And that smile..." She looked down at Yuki, who had relaxed once Layla had left. Phineas looked pretty disturbed himself. "Are you two alright?" she asked them. Yuki nodded. He handn't realized how tense he was until he relaxed. |
((Oooh, secret plans yay!))
Phineas also relaxed once she had left. "Yes." he looked questioningly at Shan, "are many peoples like that?" he asked, unsure of what he wanted the answer to be. |
[[LOL Yes. At night *_* ]]
Shan shook her head. "No, there aren't many like her. It's only in the dream world that there are this many strange people. The real world is much more comfortable." Shan waited for Layla to come back, with both hunger and dread. She did not want to have to look at that girl's face again. "Well, at least she won't be looking at us the whole time..." |
Phineas smiled faintly. "We are all a little strange, yes?" he asked, remembering the elemental magic and angel wings he'd seen in the past day. And then there was himself, of course.
The thought of angels reminded him of Micheal. His brow furrowed slightly, wondering where the hot-tempered man was now. |
Shan knelt in front of him. "Yes, we are." She took a closer look at him. "Is something the matter? You look a bit distraught." Something was bothering him, but Shan was no mind-reader.
|
"Micheal." Phineas frowned, his eyes narrowing. "I hope he is gone." He cheered instantly upon catching a whiff of their cooking food, however. "Ooh!"
|
(((Kekekee...Thank you everyone.^^))
Ani was a little uneasy by the girl. She shouldnt try so hard, Ani thought to herself. She patted the two small pouchs that hung on her waist near her swords hilt. "We should find a larger table." She said meaning inside the eating area, "Unless everyone plans on eating in their room." She asked looking at Phineas when he mentioned Micheal. It was getting dark and he had probably found a place to stay for the night. |
"Oh, I see," Shan said. Micheal was on her own mind as well. "Well, he isn't likely to come after us. He doesn't much like us." She stood up and looked towards the far back of the inn. The bigger tables were over there. "We'll go over there once we get our food," Shan said, noticing the smell already.
|
"I don't like him either." Phineas said, viciously. He was surprised at how hungry he still was even after the buns. The smell of steak was making him antsy.
|
Layla came back with quite a few trays balanced on her arms and set them down on the counter. Well, there you go! I didn't forget a single tray, and even added an extra steak for free!" She said, quite proud of herself. She then proceeded to telling Shan the price, and Shan paid.
Shan took a few of the trays and headed towards one of the larger tables at the back, where Layla could no longer stare at them. Then she set the trays down and took a seat. |
Phineas followed Shan eagerly, his head raised to breath in the delicious fumes of the steaks. He would have helped carry the trays, but he had his hands full...
((At work. can't do too long)) |
[[It's okay ^^]]
Shan placed a steak in front of Phineas, and took two salads, one for Yuki and the other for herself. "Eat as much as you want," she said. "We won't have the same fortune wherever we go. She took a fork and dug it into the salad before remembering to tell them. "Oh, but don't overeat, either." And she began to eat. Beside her, Yuki followed suit, saying nothing at all. |
As soon as Layla left their table, Ari let out a long sigh and gave another strange look at the waitress's back. "People here are definitely not normal, I'll give them that much." He said, shaking his head. He nodded in agreement to Ani's suggestion for a bigger table - after all, as the last addition, he realized that he was making the place rather crowded. He noticed the sword at Ani's side as they began to stand.
Strapping his new bow across his back, Ari picked up two of the trays and followed Shan. "Thank you," he said to Layla, hoping that she'd remove her presence quickly. He slid the tray off his hands onto the table and took a seat as well. "God, I hope none of this is drugged." Ari said as he grimaced and looked at the delicious feast before him. "I wouldn't be surprised if she's just waiting for the opportunity to rob us... the people here seems so desperate. And I, for one, am too hungry to wait." He took a swig of his water, waiting for the liquid to go down to see if there were any strange aftertastes. He couldn't help but be paranoid, especially after the things he just saw today. "Shan, did you see the man that came in before me?" He asked as he cut into his pheasant. "The one... with no feet? I thought I saw a woman with no face today, as well, but at first I just thought that my eyes were playing tricks on me..." Edit: ((Well lol to Steffox's remark a couple pages back, I just assumed that it got cold at night and Ari doesn't have a lot of clothing on. So... Haha, yes. Cows, mmmhm. Personally I don't eat beef that much, but I just plugged it in since we are always talking about 'em. Heheh.)) |
[[I want Mexican food now XD;; ]]
Shan put her fork down for a moment. "There are quite a few people like that, actually. Sometimes they're just.. half of people. The closer to the edge of the town you get, the more likely it is that someone is missing a limb. I saw a pregnant woman once and, well, I'd rather not go there at the moment." She said, finally. "Well, I'm not sure it's being robbed that I'm worried about, but I'd rather not go there, either." She took another bite of her salad. |
((Beef burritos?))
Kira moved with everyone else, feeling relieved to be farther away from the waiter. Not even she could take that much enthusiasm. She sat down, sticking a fork into her salad. She raised an eyebrow at what Shan said, remembering a few faceless people she saw. It made sense though the reason was unknown to her. She bit into a piece of lettuce, chewing thoughtfully. |
