Shan's cheeks turned a bright red; thankfully, no one could see this because of the harsh shadow from her hood. "I'd um... I'd like to have my son's father to myself, actually. Somewhere that we can all live together with no troubles at all..." She found her mind wandering and quickly stopped herself, focusing instead on her son, who was looking back at her.

He was smiling too. "That would be nice."

Elektra_x3 04-26-2008 01:38 AM

Demitra smiled to Shan and Yuki. "That sounds wonderful," she said. Though she wondered what happened to him, she decided not to ask. Demitra had poked enough into our guide's business. "If there was ever a world with no troubles, I would love to visit." she said, her mind wandering. But, remembering where they were, she put her mind back into focus.

MurasakiCrown 04-26-2008 01:43 AM

"A place without troubles would be wonderful.. the closest thing to that is Heaven. Problems come into it from the outside, but it's relatively perfect. Relatively, mind you..."

Elektra_x3 04-29-2008 03:21 AM

((When are we gonna run into some baddies? :O))

MurasakiCrown 04-29-2008 04:08 AM

((In a little bit XD, I was going to do it today but I had too much HW so it will have to be tomorrow morning D8;;;

LORD, IT'S HOT.

Er.. goodnight XD (or day? different time zones can confuse me XD)

baddies are coming tomorrow~

EDIT: Alrighty, it's morning, I can do it now >w< ))

They had been walking for some time now, the sun had begun to set. The sky was various shades pink and orange, and so was the landscape around them. In the trees and bushes, new sounds could be heard, animal sounds, and other sounds too.

Shan stopped abrubtly, suddenly completely still.

"What is the matter?" Yuki asked, although he had a pretty good idea of what might be the matter.

"We're being followed. Stay still, look vulnerable. It's better that they come out to get us rather than us having to chase after them to where they have the advantage."

Slowly but surely, a creature emerged, somewhere to the group's right. It looked like something out of a child's nightmares. Someone's version of the monster in the closet or under the bed. The eyes were a deep red, the crooked smile looked like what a shark would look like if sharks smiled. The rest of its very large shape was undefined. It would seem the dreamer did not see any true physical form for this creature, although it had some arms and legs, its edges looked blurred. Nevertheless, the monster looked strong enough, and after all, even if it had part of a dream before, it could definitely do more than just scare someone now.

Shan became tense, her fans were now in her hands. They weren't open yet, but if she had to, she would open them.

Next to her, Yuki stood with his flute close to his lips. He was a strong enough fighter, but not a close range fighter; his mother would not let him unless the circumstances called for. He could see why. The monster looked strong.

The creature gave a loud roar, and charged at the group, lashing out with one of its large arms

DustyDreamer 04-29-2008 05:46 PM

((^-^))

Ani turned sharply to get a good look at the creature. She wondered how little Yuki was holding up. The creature looked like something a child would fantasize about. Something that lived under the bed with the dust monster, or something that dwelled in the depths of a closet. The body was hazy and not clear. Ani kept her eyes on the creatures arms, as it charged to them she rolled backwards, her hands finding the sheaths on her legs, she grabbed one of the enchanted daggers, and threw it at the creature's fumbling running feet, thick vines grew from the dagger and twined around the things left foot, well what looked like a foot. The creature fell as the vines held on to its legs, growing all the while, creeping up his sides. The creature struggled to get up. Ani had her sword out before she got on her feet. The creature strained against the vines, it almost seemed like he would pull his leg off. She wondered if it did, would it be able to grow it back? It was a nightmare creature after all. Thats what happens in nightmares when you cut off the monsters body parts.

MurasakiCrown 04-29-2008 09:34 PM

The monster lashed out at the vines, damaging them, but not successfully freeing itself, at least, not completely. It flailed it's body around, too close to some of the travelers.

Yuki jumped backwards, wondering if he should do anything, of if he should wait. The creature seemed strong, but not strong enough to get away from the vines trapping it.
He was quite surprised actually. He half expected himself to be shaking with fear, but he didn't feel any true danger, not yet. He placed his flute to his lips and began to play. Icicles began to form high above the monster, getting sharper and sharper as the complex notes from his flute sounded higher and higher.

Shan waited as her son played and the monster continued to struggle. Yuki was composed now, but what about afterward? She was waiting for his reaction, not a physical one, but an emotional or psychological one.

When the ice was sharp enough, Yuki let it drop towards the monster, but as he did, the monster managed to break free. However, some of the ice did manage to strike it, and as it came free, there was a horrible bellowing sound from the creature, as well as an odd crunching noise upon contact. Yuki blinked, startled not only by the sounds, but by the sight of the monster. It was bleeding. It didn't look much like it, but this monster could bleed, and it gave Yuki a sickening sensation at the pit of his stomach.

Shan looked over at her son, to make sure he was alright. After being reassured that his sickness was only temporary, she readied herself to fight, fans fully open in her hands.

One again, the monster was ready to attack, but this time it was diminished by the ice stuck in it's body. That would not, however, stop it from causing terrible damage if left to its own devices. He lashed out once more, this time with it's whole upper body.

While Yuki stayed far for the moment, Shan spun out of the creature's way, remaining within a fighting distance.

DustyDreamer 04-29-2008 10:52 PM

Ani watched in attack stance as the creature lunged forward, breaking the vines, she watched as Yuki's icicle struck it. She drew the second dagger pair and threw it at the same leg of the monster. The vines once again began to twirl itself upward, clinging to the creature. Ani waited. The creature was weakened by the icicle wound, but that wasnt stopping it. It struggled once again against the thick rope like vines. It didnt trip however, but used its upper body to try and loosen itself from the vines. Ani had her sword drawn, its green blade was gleaming in the diminished horizon. The creature seemed to rip its leg out of the vines. She smiled as the vines still continued grow around the loosened leg. It bellowed and she shuddered at the horrible noise.

Cows Go Moo 04-29-2008 10:54 PM

Kira quickly went to action after Ani threw one of her daggers at one of the monster's legs. whipping out her sword and then running and giving five quick slashes. One to the head, neck, and then the last three on it's upper body. The thing looked like something from under a kid's bed, or maybe even boogie man. She wasn't sure, put found it a good idea to take off her gloves, putting her sword back into her hilt for a minute before taking it out again if the monster wasn't dead.

Elektra_x3 04-30-2008 03:11 AM

"Yuck." Demitra said to herself. That monster made her think of the thing that lurked under her bed when she was a little girl. She watched as the others attacked, with great ease as if they feared nothing. Demitra wanted to fight with them, but she felt as if the deed was done. She'll get the next one.

MurasakiCrown 04-30-2008 02:59 PM

The monster fell with a loud thud. It struggled to get up, but failed, and within moments it was completely still. It was strong enough to last more than the smaller monster they had encountered before, but not that much stronger. It had been difficult to deal with because it was large. This monster, unlike the other one, did not disappear however. It would only be gone once the Dreamweaver herself made it vanish.

Shan stood straight, closing her fans and glad that she had not had to fight much this time around. "We're all alright, yes?" She asked tentatively.

Yuki nodded, but remained silent. He was still thinking. He went over to his mother and took her hand; the comfort from the contact calmed his nerves.

Elektra_x3 05-01-2008 03:02 AM

((Hey where did HotaruHoshi go?))

"Yes, I think we're all good, thank you. How long 'til you think we'll get there, Shan?" Demitra asked, adjusting her hilt.

Cows Go Moo 05-01-2008 03:11 AM

Kira sheathed her sword. "Yeah, I'm good." She wondered if more nightmares like this would be appearing. Probably considering this was sort of part of the dream world. She would need to be more battle ready in the future.

MurasakiCrown 05-01-2008 02:56 PM

"A few months at most,"Shan answered. "I don't know how having more people will affect the journey just yet. So far everything seems about the same."

Yuki nodded. He would have to get used to this type of life, and fast. He would not be here for too long, but a month was quite a long time for a child who lived day by day.

((Hm, I'm not sure o.e... If HotaruHoshi remains absent, I'll create the "frozen character" list....

Also some heads up: I might be very slow this week and the next, since AP Exams are coming up and school is piling up on me... and I have to submit all this stuff to the college I'm going to @[email protected] ))

Elektra_x3 05-14-2008 12:52 AM

Demitra nodded to Shan's response. Though, she didn't know how long it would be until she gets use to traveling with several others, monsters attacking them at random. But it wasn't that terrifying knowing that there were amazing fighters accompanying this trip. She began to grow curious what would happen at night. She definitely did not want to sleep knowing strange nightmares would be crawling around. Pulling a lock of turquoise hair behind her ear, Demitra wondered if the others had this worry.

((Revive pweeeze! :gonk:))

Cows Go Moo 05-14-2008 01:28 AM

"A few months, I see." Kira wasn't exactly impatient since she already knew it was going to be a long time, but was it going to be enough time to save the Dreamweaver? She didn't know and these nightmare monsters, how many were being spawned?

MurasakiCrown 05-14-2008 02:03 PM

[[*revives* Sorry, I was taking AP exams XD Product of Evil they be, although I think I did best on the Psychology exam, especially the 2 essays >w<

I might still be a bit slow since I have to fill out a lot of forms for the college I'm going to next year (OMG, college!), but it won't be as bad as the last week or two.. XD; ]]

Shan nodded. "I suppose that someone young would think this to be a long, a few months being a good fraction of their life." As she said this she was thinking of Yuki.

Yuki agreed with this statement. Whether or not his magic was strong, depending on who judged him, he was still only a child, and for children, time seemed to pass more slowly and kindly than it did for adults.

Shan began to think about the night, and quickly it seemed to be coming. Because of where they were, night would take its sweet time coming, or it would mock them further by coming all to soon. This place never seemed to have pleasant-length days at all. She stopped in her tracks abruptly and turned to the travelers. "I suppose I now is the best time to explain how our nights will work. Travel during the night is simply not doable because this is when the nightmares are at a complete advantage. We cannot see them hiding, and their powers are sometimes double at night. The only safe time to move is during the day, and even then we are not at a total advantage.

"When we stop to sleep, one of us will always be awake. We will each take turns during the night, I myself taking two turns, the rest of you taking one." She paused for a moment, then continued: "Since Yuki is a child, he will take the first shift, so that he can sleep through the rest of the night. I will take the second and last shifts. As for the remaining shifts, I think you should all get to decide."

Cows Go Moo 05-14-2008 02:31 PM

Kira sighed thinking. She bet there never was an equinox. "Alright, I suppose that I can take third shift then if that's alright with Demitra." She needed to remember to keep her gloves off at night, at least then she can hit any possible nightmares in a far range.

DustyDreamer 05-14-2008 06:26 PM

Ani was quiet during all the talking. "4th." She said simply. The thought of night coming with the horrible nightmare creatures doubling, she would of preferred to stay awake the whole night. She would use the Earths energy to stay awake, and keep her refreshed. She didnt like trusting her life with anyone else. She learned that the hard way. Group or no group, purpose or no purpose, she would keep her eye open anyways. Keep her guard up whilst she slept. She nodded to her own thoughts. "We should pick a spot to rest that only has one entrance, easier to guard and protect. " She said. Thinking of something along the lines of a cave, or an overhanging would be perfect. Ani's night vision was as great as a humans night vision can get. It was one thing that she could not gain from the Earth, she could conjure up a spell for it, but with so many eyes in the team, she didnt think she needed too.

MurasakiCrown 05-14-2008 10:02 PM

"If it's alright with Demitra, then she can have the remaining slot. Now," she said, gathering her thoughts. "We will not always have the privilege of proper shelter. Tonight, we will have a cave. However, there are times where we will not be able to find anything at all, especially when we near the core. We will have to stay awake for longer when such times come. We cannot risk being out in the open so close to danger..." She trailed off, tugging at her cloak absently. Whenever she remembered, she felt the odd sensation that her breath was running short. Noticing her own curious behavior, she stopped, then pointed in a general direction, a bit to the right of where the rest of the group was facing. "There is a cave near the top of the mountain that isn't difficult to reach. The entrance is but a foot taller than me, but for our purposes, I don't think that it's a bad thing. "

Elektra_x3 05-15-2008 01:10 AM

Demitra smiled and nodded, "Fine with me. But I was wondering, are there any rivers on the way to the cave? I need to refill my canteens." She patted one of them. It would be useful to get as much water as she could, especially at night. Somehow, her ability to control water is stronger when the moon is out.

I hope there aren't any evil river nightmares or anything, she thought to herself, giggling. Even though she was trying to be silly, it was possible. She then turned to Ani. "Hey, how are you capable of making plants grow without any water? It's pretty cool," she said.

DustyDreamer 05-15-2008 01:47 AM

Ani nodded at Shan's remark about shelter. She looked over at Demitra and smiled at the question. "I am one with the Earth. I can feel the nearest trees, plants nearby, no matter the distance and have the roots travel under the earth to my location. Or I can plant a seed and the earth contains its own moisture, and speeds up the plants sprouting, so that it can bear food...fruits, vegetable. " It was a bit more complicated than that, but that was it to the simplest terms. "I always walk with water and seeds, never food." She added. "As for water, the earth is damp in something near the direction Shan has pointed the cave to be in. Im sure that it is water, but best to be careful still." She didnt voice what else it could possibly be.

MurasakiCrown 05-15-2008 02:38 AM

Shan listened to Ani's explanation. What she said was simpler than the complete process, but it was definitely a good explanation. To Demitra she said, "Well, there aren't rivers. Interestingly enough, there are hot springs.. three of them. One to bathe in, one to drink from, and another one which I haven't really touched much, but which isn't really dangerous. Of course to drink from the hot springs, I did have to take water into a container and wait for it to cool, but Yuki could help speed the process up if necessary."

Yuki nodded. He hadn't spoken in a while, but he felt much better than he had a few minutes ago.

Faithom 05-18-2008 12:12 AM

It's been a while since that light flared into being in the distance... twice he had fallen into his visions and woken completely disoriented. Did Ari know where he was? No, he did not have a clue. Worse, he couldn't even remember the direction the light had been in. He adjusted his course gradually, hoping for the best.
The young man have been lost for days, wandering up and down the slopes of these mountains. There were no traces of civilization here... except an occasional foot print in the mud that told him some beings have passed here. The wind brought whispers, sounds that he was rarely able to decipher save a word or two. As he wondered around the last cliff... he saw them. A group of people clustered together and pointing in the direction away from him. He stopped a dozen or so feet away, shocked.
He actually found them - people. "Hello?" His voice was hoarse whisper as he spoke. He was a little scared, after all, most of them did carry weapons... but the looks on their faces were not intimidating ones.

MurasakiCrown 05-18-2008 12:23 AM

Shan heard a voice, but only just barely. It was hoarse, hardly heard, but if anyone could hear it, she definitely could. She turned abruptly in his direction and motioned him to come closer.

Yuki, who had not heard the far-away "Hello" turned in the direction his mother had, somewhat confused. Then he saw him. The traveler that looked at the group with apprehensive eyes.
