Ani smiled and leaned against a rock close to the entrance of the cave. She took a bite from the peach, it was indeed sugary sweet. It melted in her mouth before she spoke, "Any one else want one, please help yourself." She said with a gesture wave with her hand. "If theres something else youd prefer, then let me know." She added, taking another bite of her peach. She knew she would be eating another after.

Ari stared at Ani ((lol the minimal name difference is a little odd)) as she somehow miraculously summoned a tree out of the earth. How odd. As a boy, he was expecting to eat more than just some fruit, though he realized with a pang that as he was in the wilderness, it was best to avoid shedding blood to keep away the predators... if there were animals waiting to be hunted around here. He fingered the worn hilt of his dagger as he gazed a little bit longer into the sunset.
He knelt down by the tree and gently twisted a fruit, plucking it from the tree without disturbing the rest of the plant. As he bit into it, he let the sweet juice run past his parched throat and relished the refreshingness of such a feeling. Hm, polite kid, he thought as he watched Yuki's reaction to Ani's offer. "How do you do it? Was it something you learned?" He asked suddenly, tilting his head slightly as he looked at Ani. "Or was it something that you were born with?" |
[[Imagine my surprise at the singe-letter difference XD]]
Yuki's interest peaked at Ari's question. How had the woman who just fed him gotten her powers? The powers he had are powers he had been born with. His father was strong, and so was his mother, and Yuki hoped that within him was a certain amount of strength as well. The white magic came from his mother's purest origins. The control over water in all it's form came from his father, who came from a world covered in ice, water, and snow. |
Kira sat in the cave, watching the sky before she walked over grabbing a peach. "Much thanks Ani." She smiled taking a bite. It was sweet and tasty compared to a few of the fruits she had already. She took another bite, chewing on it as she thought of the future and wondered what they would do when they caught up to the Dreamweaver, but then again she was just thinking ahead of herself. They still had a long way to go and with a new traveler too, not that it was a bad thing. She fingered her sheath, reminiscing on the adventures she had killing or wounding people with it, much like with nightmares. How had Ani gotten her powers? She didn't really care that much, though she doubted it was the same way that she got hers.
|
((Lolz. XD))
Ani looked up at the sudden question, she thought a moment before answering rather quietly. Something flinted behind her eyes, memories. "I was born with it. My mother and father were refugees in an unknown land, being hunted down by the natives when I was born. They were both white witchs and combined their powers to summon the earths spirit. They gave me to her, right before they were murdered." She said, not looking at anything in particular, but the ground. She looked up then. "The earth spirit was very kind to me. The day I was born she implanted a part of herself within me, giving me a portion of her powers, her life existence. I was trained and learned about it all down in the earths soil. I wasnt let out onto the surface until I was 20." She smiled at that memory. "Dont get me wrong, I am entirely human, I just dont age, or die until the earths spirit leaves my body." She said before taking a bite of her peach. She knew why the earth kept her around, even though she had pleaded before to be released. Shes never known family or friends, never known what it was like to live like a human. She was always traveling, defending the earth, aiding it when it needed her. She never stayed in a place too long. Sometimes she was grateful that she was saved, that her parents saved her. Other times, she was tormented. Ani looked at the boy, before realizing that she had let her mask of neutrality fall. Her face exposed all the torment and confusion, pain and happiness that lived within her. And just like that her guard was back up. Her face was peaceful once again, giving away nothing. But she doubted that anyone believed her anymore. She wasnt that peaceful person. Behind her eyes many things swirled. |
Yuki listened intently. He detected pain in her voice, if only just for a second. She seemed to mask it very quickly. "I'm sorry about your parents," he finally said.
Shan stared fixedly at a spot in the ground. There was a rock on that very spot that she could distract herself; she tried spotting every dent, every crack, every spot. She had been looking at Ani before, but she saw something that she could not look at anymore. It was something she had seen in the mirror. Of course, her own story was almost completely different from Ani's, but the similarities were still there, and they hurt. She looked outside. "Yu-chan, your shift is about to start." Yuki nodded. He took another peach, thanked Ani once again, and stepped outside, climbing to a spot right above the cave, where the area of visibility was greater. His mother would follow him shortly after, since this would be his first shift, and he was still a child after all. For a child, though, he was quite observant. He saw the look on Ani's face, and also his mother, but it was not a child's business to pry, especially in matters that caused such visible pain. He knew part of his mother's story, and as he stood outside, he wondered if and when she would tell her own story. Her age allowed for many stories, not all of them good, not all of them bad. |
Ani smiled shortly. "Thank you Yuki." She said as he left to go about his shift. She herself has taken another peach and was now inside the cave by the plant. She would pluck some more before sending it back to its rightful place. The night had dropped so suddenly that she was surprised at the darkness. Wasnt it just momentarily when she was seeing various colors in the horizon? Now it was all dark, only the stars above and the round cratered moon gave away light.
|
Shan took a single peach to save for later, and bowed to Ani in thanks. Then she walked towards the cave's opening after her son. "Please try to rest well. A cave may not be what you're used to, but it's one of the safest spots. And remember: sleep is not only for the body." With that, she stepped outside and walked to the springs near by. She became curious as to how the group would react to each other in her absence. They seemed to do just fine when she had been observing. Would they talk more when she was gone? Less?
She stepped towards the edge of the hot spring that was in the middle, in terms of elevation. First her shoes came off, then her cloak, then her obi. As she undressed she kept her fans in one hand, then she stepped into the water, leaving the fan at the very top of her pile of clothes. Yuki watched her, just as he had many other times before. His mind was not yet tainted with the point of view that adult men had of the body of a woman. To him this was his mother, whom he'd once been inside. He had been a part of her. A piece. Just as any other person is just a piece of someone else who has bloomed into their own person. And then he saw it. The scar. The one that would come and go as it pleased. It almost seemed to depend on his mother's state of mind. Still, he said nothing. He hadn't wanted to know how the scar got there, but he did. That was that. "Um.. mama.." Shan turned to face him. "What is it?" "We'll see her again, right?" Shan looked down at the water. "I sure hope so. I made it far on my own, but I couldn't make it all the way in the end. Hopefully it will be different now that there is more than just me." |
Ani nodded in response to Shan. She plucked a 3 more from the plant, before she drew a circle around it with many symbols, sending the plant back to its origin. All that was left a a tiny hole that the plant had sprouted from. Her hand swept over it, covering and sealing it. "Any one else want, I have some more." She said to the remaining group. She sat back on the ground, her dress carefully tucked around her knees. Before she slept she would meditate. She first took off her boots, they looked heavy, but were really light. Then came the daggers and her sword, She piled them up neatly her leather bound book atop it all.

((Hello everyone! I'm happy to join you in this roleplay, it sounds so awesome!!))
In the dark and shifting shadows of the sinking sunset, a pair of golden eyes shines with the last light of the day. They watch the group intently, wavering between a predatory hunger and confusion. The figure in the shadows had been lying in a state between sleep and wakefulness for almost a whole day, and was startled out of his daze by the sounds of the travelers. Even now he was still unsure of what world he was in. The trees sprang from under the hands of one of the humans, and it felt like two others were joined by the tails of their souls, tied in a graceful but complex knot. He ached to join them, not knowing why, and at the same time... he hungered. |
[[Happy to have you! I can only hope I don't drive you all away XD
BTW: does anyone know WHY we can't change our thread titles anymore? I don't want my RP to say "Welcome to Stage 2" for the rest of the RP D8;; There is definitely MORE than 2 stages >w< ;;]] Shan felt as if a pair of eyes were watching her. Did she feel vulnerable because she was wearing absolutely nothing, or was there truly someone out there watching her besides her son? Her previous attempt at finding the Dreamweaver had left her with the lingering sensations of other consciousness, some that were not always there. "Yu-chan, do you feel it?" she asked, unknowingly crossing her arms over her chest. Yuki nodded. There was someone out there watching. As for who or what it was, he was not sure. "Do you think the others might have noticed? But if they had, I think they might have said something already." Well, that settled it. If her son could feel it, then Shan was pretty sure that she was not imagining things. She wondered if whoever it was would come out to meet them, or remain where they stayed. |
((*Waves to Steffox* Welcome aboard!! ^^ Glad you can join us. ^-^
PlatinumChild: I believe that it has to do with the software switch. When you want to change the title of your thread you have to pm a mod to do it. T.T It really is an annoyance. And it hurts the marketplace cause no one knows whats really selling and what isnt.)) Ani was deep into her meditation. No sounds of the outside world she could hear. Her mind had created a world, silent and beautiful in all its glory that it had once been. She could smell the green grass, and taste the clean air like sugar in her mouth. The blue sky stretched on forever into a shade of a darker blue and dipped along the curvature of the earth till you couldn't see it anymore. There was something out of place though. Her world was disturbed. She turned and among the shrubbery, two golden eyes peered at her. Ani's eyes snapped open and in a quick movement she was standing up, she grabbed her sword and held in between her hands, the tip digging into the ground by her bare feet. "There is something watching us." She said to the others, her eyes searching the darkness outside of the cave. |
[[Fai and I agree that this is also a problem for art shops and auctions.. what if my shop says "closed" forever?? D8;; People will be totally put off DX; "oh, it's closed, I'll look for something that's open, then" >_<]]
Unable to stand the strange feeling of being watched, Shan stood up, hands still over her breasts. Using her cloak as a towel, she dried herself; first her body, then her hair. She put on her undergarments, then her pants, then her modified nagajuban. Remaining nothing but her pants and undershirt, she walked towards the presence, barefooted. Her fans stayed behind, with her modified kimono and her ornate obis. She sensed no danger, but if there was, she could fight well enough without those little assassin twins. It also gave her an odd sense of freedom. She felt much lighter without the obis tied stiffly around her waist, and the clothes she had on kept her safe from the vulnerable feeling of nakedness. Then she saw them. The pair of golden eyes to match her son's. However, these were definitely not her son's eyes, for her son was behind her, watching her every move intently, but not moving from his post. She would have called out to him, but was not sure whether she should. There was something terribly wrong, but she was drawn to his eyes and it took her a while to notice. His legs. She took a single, sharp breath, and it stayed in her throat, like a piercing knife. Her eyes felt moist. |
((I agree fully with that. They really have put it off for a long time. I thought that they would fix the problem as soon as the software change was done. Even after 1 week I was thinking they would do it. But now, I dont even have much hope as to when they will fix it. T.T))
Ani had seen Shan walking towards, something, but she wasn't armed. Trusting Shan more than anything else, Ani put her sword down, and slipped into her boots, quickly reassembling where her daggers went, where her sword slipped in and lastly latching the book across her back. She began her walk towards Shan, stopping a couple feet behind her. "What is it?" She asked, not shouting, but speaking normally, her voice just seemed magnified a little. |
The boy in the shrubs tried to dig himself down deeper into the darkness, his hands clawing grooves into the dirt. He'd been noticed. Should he try to scare them off? Part of him wanted to rear up, make itself huge and menacing, bare his teeth, growl... but that part was overwhelmed by the urge to wake up. Or go back to sleep. Whichever way it was that would turn him back into himself, put him back into control of his own world. He closed his eyes tightly, trying to wish away the figures that were approaching him.
|
All Shan could reply to Ani was "His legs". Her voice felt choked and she couldn't muster much else. The eyes disappeared, making her feel even more unsure of how to approach the stranger. "Wait." She called without even knowing why. She felt drawn to him. He was different, and he was hurt. It had been a while since her curiosity had surfaced as strongly as it did now. "Please, wait..."

((Phew, I am behind!!!))
Ari said nothing as he munched away thoughtfully on his peach. It wasn't long before he finished it, but what Ani said him gave him much thoughts, so much that he had long lost his appetite. He sat there, deep in thought, wary of the movement around him but not paying much attention. Even when Shan left with Yuki, he just sat there, fiddling with the carnelian stone of his leather bracelet. The lack of memories was perhaps what caused his lack of sympathy - sure, it was sad, but... at least she remembered. I wonder who I was... what I was like. He thought as he gazed at his hands, curling it into a fist. And how I came to have my powers. I wonder what made me forget everything. His eyes remained painfully void of expressions when he saw the flicker of emotions on Ani's face. Instead, he looked at Kira. The way she fingered the edge of her blade... there was something chilling there about it. Perhaps it how she seemed oddly at comfort and how such an action seemed so... habitual. When the two women began to move, he looked over. "Nightmare?" He asked simply, but when both Ani and Shan put away their weapons, his brows shot up. It wasn't human, he felt that much. He did not let his guards down so easily as he flicked his wrist and let a single paper-thin blade slide into his hand. He stood and began walking towards the bush. As he got closer, it hit him - the memories and emotions of the thing inside of that bush. His steps faltered slightly as some jumbled pictures flashed past his eyes. "Shan, I don't think touching him is a good idea. He's... he's..." Ari warned through gritted teeth as the visions continued, trying to catch a glimpse of what Phineas was exactly in the past. |
[[sowy, Fai DX]]
"He's missing a good portion of both of his legs," she said flatly, looking down at the disturbing stumps. "In his condition, it would have been best for him to attack me on my own, before anyone else had come, and yet he didn't." She had to stop to clear her throat. The blade that stuck refused to go away. "Besides, I a good enough fighter. I've made it further than this point before. I'm amazed I didn't notice him before though. Perhaps he only recently became lost. "Just we have come for our search to restore the real world, he might have come on a quest to restore the dream world. Perhaps he has been something more than this before." |
Kira tightened her grip on the blade for a minute, seeing a pair of golden eyes in the distance, but then loosened, putting it down. As long as it didn't attack them, it wasn't a big threat right? She didn't know, though was ready to rip out a piece of the ground if necessary. She kept a relaxed posture, only looking up when Ari started to walk over to where the figure was. She wanted to get up as well, but figured that he was only going to check out what it was. She stayed there, almost jumping when Ari faltered. What was there? She turned to Shan seeing why she didn't think of him as a threat.
|
What if he was a spy? Ari almost wanted to ask heatedly in response to Shan - but whatever, if was her quest to journey to this center of the world to fail. Ari was surprised by his own suspicious nature - where did all of this suddenly come from? He stared at the legless creature on the ground before shaking his head at what he decided was folly and turned away. Sight, he has learned, was one of the most deceptive gifts nature could present to a human being. A woman's heart was easily swayed, but his remained steely at the sight. "Hmm." He shrugged and began to walk towards Kira. Clearly Shan was used to being in control, and he was on no ground to push her decision.
"You think you can help him?" He asked, tilting his head slightly to look back at Shan. |
Shan took a moment to answer. "I suppose I can, but to what extent, I can't exactly say." She could give him legs to walk, maybe not like the ones he had before, but still enough to get him around quite well. But to do so, she'd have to transform. Her brow furrowed in near-frustration. She had not really planned on showing her true form, at least not this early. It's not that she hated her true form. Quite the contrary. She just didn't feel like it would be right for some reason. She hardly ever transformed anymore, and it always took a while before she could change back. Her sigh was deep as she straightened her posture.
[[OMG PROM ON SUNDAY. XD.. I hope I don't trip.. heels are hard~ XD ]] |
Ani had moved up beside Shan. She had caught glimpse of the boys amputated legs. She grimaced, moreso at what he must of gone through than what he was feeling now. There was dirt clinging to his legs, and she knew that if she touched it, she would see his journey across the land, watch as his legs as they were destroyed and torn off. She closed her eyes for a minute, and struggled to swallow her nervousness down. She had seen worse, in war. Peoples bodies ripped apart and they were still breathing. It didnt make it any easier though, despite whatever you have heard.
Ani bent down. She wasnt listening to Shan, but she could hear her say that she could give him legs. "Do it." She whispered suddenly. She didnt know if she heard her, but she didnt repeat herself. She simply kneeled on the ground before the boy, oh, he seemed so young.. Her arm outstretched to him, "Come child.." She said soothingly, ushering him out to the open. "Do not be afraid now." She said whispering almost, but knowing he could hear her. She could sense something from him. He wasnt human, this mangled body he knew not of and it made her heart hurt even more. ((Have funn!!!! ^^)) |
Shan's breath stilled. Her "secret" was not worth being kept if she was of better help exposed. Her mouth formed silent words of an ancient language, and moments later, an angel stood in her place. The angle's skin was white, just like her six wings. Her hair was long, trailing down to the ground; the roots of it were lilac, and slowly gradiated into a deep shade of violet. Something about her standing there seemed rather wrong. She caught differently than their surroundings, and there even seemed to be light within the shadows on her body. The things that reflected light correctly and cast shadows normally were her clothes and her eye patch. These things came from the mortal realms. This is the form that kept Shan alive for all her long life, even when she was severely wounded. However, she had never had any limbs severed. Only very deep wounds.
She knelt in front of the golden-eyed boy, pressing her white palms on the area right above where his legs had been severed. The thought of touching the exact spot depressed her further. When she spoke, her was the same, and yet still sounded different. She murmured an incantation that truly seemed out of this world, for it truly was from somewhere beyond. It took some time, but they began to appear. The outlines of where they boy's complete legs had once been. Then, slowly, they became more solid, matching his skin, his form. When she was done, she had to stay down. She felt tired. She hadn't done anything like this in quite some time. "You'll need to stand up holding on to someone or something, at first. Those new legs of your take some getting used to," she told the golden-eyed boy. Then she remained silent. From afar, Yuki watched his mother. As curious as he was, he had to stay at his post. Why had she transformed? She hardly ever did. Was it because of the stranger? |
((I feel bad for not participating in a while. T^T))
Demitra quietly listened to Ani's story about how she lost her parents. It reminded Demitra of her own past. But she tried hard to ignore those small glimpses of fear and grief. She instead tried to focus on the happy. She was still alive, on this journey, only ran into a nightmare once. She tried thinking of all the tiny good things. She was thinking rather hard, so she ended up blanking out on the rest of her surroundings. Before she knew it, her jaw was on the floor as Shan turned into an angel. "Oh my gosh.." she said, barely breathing as Shan restored the stranger's legs. It was unbelievable to watch, and she wondered if she did this often. |
Kira hesitated, but stood up, trying to catch more of the boy. She could now see the stubs of his legs, dirty and bandaged. She looked at Shan, hearing some sort of archaic language before seeing an angel in the place of Shan. She felt surprised, seeing an angel for the first time in real life wasn't something she would be used to so it was different. Her eyes traveled with Shan, as she saw her kneel next to the boy, sort of healing him by giving him new legs.
