Alessandra was used to the way people turned to look at her as she literally strutted down the hallways or through the mall. She had long blond hair that she usually tied but into a pony tail or a bun. Her eyes were a bit dull in her opinion, but blue like her father's, and she usually wore contacts over them, turquoise contacts. Her family could afford to spend that kind of money on an accessory, in fact she saw it as taking a burden away from them half the time.

At the present moment she was sitting in a coffee shop, one of chain ones, and was reading Emma by Jane Austen at the present moment. She was wear a nice pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt that hugged her curves. Her makeup was limited though it was used in the most reasonable way fashionable, to highlight her features rather than appear to be caked on.

She was spending the summer, and the rest of her high school career, in the cities this year. She was going to a high class prep school so she'd have a better chance at getting into Harvard... not like it didn't help that her father and mother went there and wed there.

Her interests for the opposite sex had also increased though no one seemed suitable. It was almost as if she'd been given a flashlight to see the person's personality before she got to know them. There were others that were harder to understand, such as the ones she wasn't used to lingering with, essentially she wanted something new, someone who would accept her for being her and not just some 'dimwitted blond who can't tell you left from right.'

Jake wasn't all that rich, his parents only had enough money for the house and food plus clothes. Jake didn't really care about wearing something nice,just pants and a shirt was his way to go.

Currently he was walking to his favorite place to study, the coffee shop in the local mall. Although it was a good quite place for such study, he liked the smell of the coffee beans and cream.

Jake was too trying to get a full scholar ship to Harvard, that would make his parents extremely proud of his, plus it wouldn't cost his parents a dime.

Jake had golden brown sort hair that covered his left eye. Although you could only see one eye of his thanks to his hair covering the other, his eyes were a deep green. He had a black short sleeve t-shirt on and deep-colored blue jeans

He walked into the coffee shop smelling the air and then walking over to an open table with his books. He sat down and set his books on the table. Over next to him he saw a girl wearing a long-sleeve shirt. She looked nice. He smiled and then opened his books and taking study notes.

Alessandra paused when she noticed that someone sat down at the table next to hers. She immediately wondered why he wasn't ordering anything and thought it would be polite to do so. She paused though before placing a book mark where she was.

She stood up slowly, and purposefully, so she could get a better look at this new person that had walked in. He was attractive, though not entirely dressed to her standard. She could barely remember where she'd seen him before... but maybe she hadn't seen him.

She went up to the counter swiftly though and conversed with the boy on the opposite side of the counter. She knew this guy due to how much she came here and he sometimes gave her free stuff. After placing a request that this person, stranger really, sitting at the table get something from her, whatever he wanted, on her expense, she returned to her seat.

She still had her tea at the table, with no sugar of course. Sitting down she reopened Emma and started off where she had left. She wished she'd brought poetry for a moment, though that would have been impractical. She'd done most of her homework already so she had no chance of bringing that here.

As the guy from the counter came over to Jake and placed the drink of his table. Trying to be polite as possible he looked up and said " Oh I didn't order anything you must have mistaken me as someone else."

As the waiter told him who it was he smiled, " oh, um ok thank you" Once the person walked away he looked back at the girl in the table next to him. He wondered why she bought him a drink.

After about 2 minutes he closed his books and walked over to the girl who was currently reading.

" Um, Hi...I was just wandering why you bought me that drink." He smiled sweetly and then flipped his hair out of his left eye.

The interest in the book had waned quickly when the boy had walked in and now she was just staring at the same page, thinking. When he came over she wasn't really shocked, but pleased to a certain extent. She looked up at him casually with her usual high level of confidence.

"I thought you looked thirsty," Alessandra said with a genuine smile. "Think of it as a charitable contribution. Oh pardon me, I forgot to introduced myself. My name is Alessandra but most of my friends call me Alessa."

She motioned to the seat that was across from her, hoping that he would take it as an invitation to sit down with her. She took a sip of her tea before looking up at him again. His eyes struck her then second time she looked at him, but her expression didn't change. It was almost as if her thoughts were going a million miles an hour.

Jake laughed a little bit and sat down " ok, well thank you. I'm Jake." He noticed the book that she had opened " What are you reading?"

Jake observed Alessa features again before smiling. He kept on thinking whether she went to his school or not.

"I'm reading Emma," she said with a smile. "I finished Pride and Prejudice earlier today, I love that book so much but it's only a dream to really meet someone that's nice."

She let out a day dream like sigh before elbow. She was open with people, a bit too much at times so she wasn't sure how he would take that comment.

" Oh thats cool I might check that book out someday." Jake stared into her beautiful eyes and then caught himself " oh I'm sorry " He blushed a little bit and then smiled looking down. " you just having really beautiful eyes" He looked up at her trying not to stare again

"It's a girlie book," she said ignoring his comment. She got things like that and it was usually a pick up line so she'd learned to ignore it. She was bored now that he had come talk to her and they had nothing in common that she knew about. "So.." she said after a while. "Where do you go to school?"

" I go to West Tree High it's my last year there." He looked at his watch He had to get ready to go back home. " Do you by any chance go there? After all I don't think I saw you anywhere." By the expression on her face he knew he was boring her which he didn't want at all

"Oh," Allesandra said with a sigh. "I go to the prep school that's a few blocks down from that." She hated calling it that but it was that. She was more interested though. "What is public school like? I mean all I've known is private school with latin classes and other stuff."

" Oh just your basic highchool life" He flipped his hair out of his left eye and then began " Well there is the Jocks; mostly football players, the preps or girly girls, the cheerleaders, the sluts, the nerds and then normal people. Then you have this nasty school lunch, I don't usually eat at school. There are a lot of fights, The main thing is to hang out with the right kind of people. Oh did I mention the writing on the walls and couples kissing everywhere? Sometimes I wish I had my own personal teachers..."

She grimaced slightly about the couples kissing in the hallway and she looked like she was about to throw up. She shook her head slightly to shake the disgusting image out of her mind.

"I think people need to learn to respect others and then maybe the whole kissing in the hallways would not occur," she said shuddering as she spoke the words.

" Yea same here I get disgusted every time I see them just carelessly do that. Respect is a big thing for me."

Jake stared out the window at the sky for a moment thinking about how school would be like if none of that happened. Then he paid his attention back to Allesandra

"I should probably get going," she said when she noticed one of her ex-boyfriends walk in. She was uncomfortable around this guy because he'd been a bit abusive, more in the verbal sense.

Alessandra's anxiety was obvious in how she was beginning to fidget and kept dropping things when she was trying to pack her stuff up.

" Um....need help with anything?" He felt a bit nervous thinking to himself, was it something he did or say? Or maybe she just doesn't like him " Uh....are you ok?" he flipped his hair out of his eye

"Just an ex-boyfriend," she said quietly. "Not a good relationship and I don't really want to be here now that he's here."

She didn't even motion to the guy she was talking about but had a feeling that this person would figure it out. She couldn't believe at that point that she could barely remember his name.

" Oh, well I guess you better go then I don't want anything to happen to you, and i'm not just saying that" He got up from the table " It was nice meeting you." Jake then smiled and sat at his own table with his study books looking at her

Alessandra just nodded slightly before picking up her bags. She wasn't seen by the ex-boyfriend, thankfully, as she made her exit. When she got into the mall she began to wonder what the boy had meant when he had said he "was not just saying it."

Jake looked around the room for anyone suspicious. He didn't want to follow Alessandra, she might think he was some kind of stalker. "hmm...I better get going home" He hoped she didn't think he was trying to flirt with her by saying "your eyes are beautiful or i hope nothing happens to you" of course that was the only reason why he said he was not just saying it that way... He soon picked up his books and headed home

On her way home she stopped and got a few things to help the people that made her family's dinner. She'd run out of the prep school tomorrow to see if she could catch him tomorrow. There was a spark of interest yet she was completely unaware of it at this point.

once Jake got home he was thinking to himself 'her school is just down the street huh? Maybe I could...' He soon fell asleep hoping for a good day at school tomorrrow

Alessandra had raced home that night and now it was morning. She groaned slightly as she turned off her alarm. It would be a longer day than usual and she wasn't really looking forward to it. The most important part was getting to his school before he got out, which would be a three block sprint. She could handle it from all the gym classes that she took.

Jake woke up and stretched. He got up and rubbing his eyes looking through his closet picking out a white tank top and black jacket with blue jeans. He fixed his hair with his comb and then headed out the the kitchen. No one was home which was usual; both of his parents at work 24 hours for 7 weeks. Forgetting about eating breakfast he grabbed his backpack and he went out of the door.

Alessandra had raced out the door after she eaten a small breakfast. She was worried she was going to be late so she was running at this point. She was shocked though when she saw him again and ended up tripping. Her school uniform was a dark blue with a white top and coat. She loved it but tripping in it was more embarrassing than when she was just wearing jeans.
