A small sigh escaped Joelle's lips as she sat back against the tree reading through her book. It was lunch period, though everyone was inside now eating their food with their friends and chatting it up. Now it wasn't really that Joelle was a loner, no she had plenty of friends, but her friends all had the second lunch period and really she didn't like the people in her current lunch period.
She took a bite from her sandwich as she read over the words on the page smiling a bit at a joke that was made. It was the forht time she had read A Great and Terrible Beauty, though it wasn't very long and a pretty easy read, so it made plenty of sense. It was beautiful out side, the perfect temperature, just warm enough that she didn't need a big jacket, but cool enough that she was comfortable in her oversized sweat shirt and her jeans. She didn't look like your average geeky girl, though everyone in the school knew that she was number one in the school when it came to grades. She was hated among most groups other than her close friends and she was known as a spoil sport. Though that rumor had no truth behind it, since Joelle didn't have any problems with breaking the rules.
She was your average teenager, but to everyone else she was a geuness that should be in one of the private high schools where all the other smart kids were, not here with those normal people that put their outside lives before school

Jack sighed, closing the Math textbook. It was useless trying to try and learn something that he wouldn't be interested in. It was his lunch period, but his teacher had told him to study or he would fail his test, not that he would. Of course he could at least try. He decided instead to just break out the lunch he had mooched from one of his friends.
He ripped open the plastic wrapping and took a bite into the chimichanga, savoring the taste. yeah this was much better than studying. He saw a teacher walk by, quickly opening up the book. "You don't need to pretend, I know you weren't studying." Jack shrugged, closing up the book and shrugging. "Yeah I figured that."
"Why can't you just take notes and study like the rest of the class?" The teacher shook his head. No matter how many times Jack was scolded, asked, or told he would start to "try" and study for a week or two and then go back to his old habits.

Joelle stood and tucked her book into her bag as she remember that she was supose to go speak to her math teacher. Something about some student who needed to be whipped into shape and start to study or he was going to fail. Something like that.
She stood and moved quickly walking around the school grounds until she saw her math teacher sitting and talking to a student. She came up to the two blushing just a little bit as she saw the teacher. "I'm so sorry... I got so engrossed in my book, I forgot that you had wanted to me see you..." She scratched the back of her neck just slightly before looking curiously down at the other boy.
This was yet another class that she was excelling in and honestly the only class that she wasn't getting a great grade in (it didn't mater, she was taking it pass fail anyway) was gym and that was because she had no hand eye cordination to speak of. The teacher turned to look at her a moment before smiling. "Yes well this is your knew student... I would like you to tutor him..."
Joelle blinked a couple times, glancing down at the boy, he was hott, that was the only thing she could really think when she looked at him before she managed to stutter out. "U-Uh... okay... I-I'm Joelle..." She held her hand out for him to shake.

Jack continued to eat, ignoring his math teacher until he saw a brown haired girl walk up to his teacher. Where had he seen her before? Oh, right. She was the number one student in the school. She was pretty cute, the second thing he noticed about her. He wondered what the two had to talk about. Tutoring? Like he hadn't tried that before. Though to be fair, pretty much all of them had been adults and very strict. He waited until they were finished talking, turning to her and nodding. "Jack." He shook her hand, letting go briefly. He noted her nervousness, trying to smile politely.

She wasn't really nervous about being around him, more like she was nervous about what kind of kid he was. Was he one of the kids that hated that someone like Joelle continued to go to their school. She took a seat next to him as she crossed her legs watching him carefully. "Well than... when are you open to be tutored... I'm pretty much open every day after school and lunches."

Jack observed her features, wondering whether she was the stereotypical geek or a kid who just happens to be a genius. He watched her sit next to him. He turned back, blinking his red eyes as he thought about when to be tutored. It wasn't like he had too many plans. He was restricted from hanging out with his friends after school. "I'd say after school." He put down his lunch, turning back to her.

SHe nodded just slightly when he told her that they would go afterschool before digging around in her side beg a bit trying to find a note book. She pulled her history note book out, flipping through pages of perfect notes as she tried to find an empty page. She wrote her adress down on the paper and her phone number. " Alright... this is to my house... if you could come at 4:30 after school we can talk more about what you need help with..."
She glanced over his book a moment before speaking softly. "I can talk to your teacher about reschedualing the test today for you if you would like... I'm sure he would have no problems with that as long as he knew that you were going to be studying for it."

Jack raised an eyebrow at the notebook, wondering if she would have him copy the notes or something. That one old hag did. He broke his train of thought, nodding to Joelle and taking the slip of paper. "That would be great." Well he would be studying, but he doubted that he would remember what he did. He read over the slip of paper. She lived a bit far from his house, but it was still within walking distance.

"Alright... I'll make sure to do that before class... um just bring the text books of any subjects you need help in over. I will warn you though... I can only help you with a foreign language if it's french." She stood up and put her note book away. "Um... you don't have to worry about dinner or anything... I can make that while I'm tutoring you... just whatever you do... don't come before 4:30." She was fine now and glanced at her watch as the bell rang. "Well you should get to class.. I'll talk to your teacher." With that she walked off into the school to find his teacher who agree automatically that he would post pone the test for Jack until the end of the week.

"Alright I'll keep that in mind." Jack stood up as the lunch ended. He nodded, but wondered why he couldn't come before 4:30. After school classes? He shrugged, deciding to remember which subjects he would need help with. Math, history, chemistry, and French. Lucky for him that she could help him with that. He walked to Language Arts class, probably one of the only classes where he averaged a B- if he was lucky. He was also lucky that he had the top student to convince the teacher to push the test date for him further away.

Joelle was glad to hear that he was fine with pushing the test date up and she went on to her classes, she sighed softly as she entered her history class.
((I'm going to skip to after school at 4:30 if that's not alright let me know and I'll change it))
It was 4:30 now and she was walking around her famlies small apartment, making sure the throw everthing into her mothers room since the house had been a general mess when she came in after school. She took a seat at the kitchen table and pulled out her own homework, making sure to do it while she waited for her new student to show up.

((It's fine))
Jack continued through his classes, drawing doodles into his notebook as he "listened" to the teacher. Listen was a bit of an overstatement as he only caught half the words he heard. Nevertheless he still continued with the monotonous routine in each class.
He looked at his watch, seeing that it was 4:25. He was nearing the address as the numbers became closer and closer to the one on the address. Soon he was at the apartment complex, walking up the stairs as he finally found the room number. He ran a hand through his dark hair, hesitating to knock the door. He closed his hands in a fist, taking a few hard knocks on the door.

Her eyes widened when she herad the knock on her door and she jumped up walking over to the door and opened it before stepping to the side to let him in. "Okay go ahead and put your stuff on the kitchen table... we'll get started then" She closed the door as soon as he had entered the apartment and took a seat where she was sitting before. "Alright... so what subjects do you need help in?"

Jack nodded, walking inside to the kitchen table and putting his backpack on the floor. It was amazing that he could fit two textbooks in his backpack without breaking it and the other two in his arms. He put the first two on the table and grabbed the other two out of his backpack. "Uh let's see. I need help in math, history, chemistry, and French." He spoke with a lazy tone, as he leaned back in the chair.

She thought about it for a little while glancing over him and crossing her legs as she glanced over his text books. "Okay... what are things that you like to do?" She tilt her head to the side. "Don't think about school for a moment.. just think about things out side of school that are fun for you."

Jack shrugged. Well he liked sleeping, but that wasn't something that she probably had in mind. He thought about it, resting his chin on his hands. Well he didn't like sports for one thing. Sure his siblings liked to play on sport teams, but that didn't mean he did. If it made him a geek so be it, but he had a slight love for video games. To him it was more exciting to immerse yourself in battle than school anyway. "Video games."

She tilt her head to one side letting out a long breath escaping her lips as she thought about a way to help him enjoy studying, but really, if he rather play video games there was nothing she could work with. "Hmmm... well than lets see... are there any other things you like to do than video games." If that was it than she would be able to work with it, but she just needed to make sure that he didn't get distracted from that. She sighed and pulled off her sweat shirt, leaving her in a tight red tank top, one of the straps falling down her shoulder slightly as she looked over his text books.

Jack pressed his lips together, drawing into his mind to find something else that he liked. Yeah he also liked write sometimes which explained his fairly good grade, but rather than essays he liked story writing. "I guess I like..." He trailed off, seeing Joelle take off her sweatshirt. That tank top was awfully tight on her. God forbid that she was somehow clumsy enough to spill water on herself. He blinked, mentally slapping himself for even thinking about that. "Well I guess that I also like to story write sometimes."

But he finished his sentance and she smiled a little bit, pulling her hair up into a loose bun and nodding. "Alright than... so your issue with school work is that you are bored... correct?"

"Here... I don't want you to start to think about your work here as something to dread... you should have a blank mind when it comes to studying." She pulled open his math book. "Maybe if you thought of doing your home work as writing a story than you would like it better..."

Jack shrugged, looking at his math book. It was hard to do so when the more he read it the more he dreaded it. Still, if it could help him cram all of that information he could try it. "Well it's kind of hard to do that when most of that work consists of numbers and uncreative word problems, at least for math." In chemistry it was somewhat easier since some of it involved just copying from the textbook, but just as tedious. He sighed, clearing his mind.

She smiled a little bit and shrugged. "You want to know my secret... I don't really like to do home work either but you honestly start to feel really great once you start to get those good grades. You begin to realize that it really is worth all of the work." She smiled as she stood up and looked over his math text book. "You want to know something else... there are songs and such that help you remember some of these things. Like the quadratic equation:" ((I'm going to go with he needs help with geometry, because that was the last math class I took and it was a lot of work for me, I barely got a C))
She began to sing softly, to the tune of 'Somewhere Ove the Rainbow' "Somewhere over 2a is -b plus or minus the square root of b sqaure minus 4ac." She grinned at him. "See you can make math a bit fun... but some times you just need to memorize, which that isn't to hard if you do it with someone else... make flash cards. Than you can always just write everything you see on the board down if you have a hard time paying attention to what the teacher says and I can explain to you later what it all means if you can't figure it out." She paused for a moment as she thought it over. "And don't be afraid to ask your teacher to repeat anything for you... or to come in during lunch, he really is a nice guy and he likes to see his students pass."

Jack pressed his lips together, debating how much truth there was in that. True that it would feel good to have nice grades, but it would only lead to more work in the future. Failing though would sometimes make him feel sad if he actually tried (whenever that was). "Songs?" He raised an eyebrow as she started to sing. There needed to be another way besides that. He pondered on using flash cards, deciding that it might be the only technique he could use, though that was only so good. Well at least he could have her explain it to him. Yeah, I'm sure he's nice to the students that pass. Even so, he tended to procrastinate asking for help, but that was his problem. "Right. That's why he kept scolding. Because of how "nice" he was."

She smirked at him shaking her head slightly as she laughed. "Well he really could do nothing and just let you fail. He scolds you because he wants you to pass, I think that's pretty nice." There was a beep from the kitchen and she walked in, comming out moments later with cheese pizza, two plates, two cups and a 2 liter of pepsi. "Alright we have food." She set it all down on the table in front of them.
"I know that song thing doesn't sound the greatest... but you know, it helps a lot and you don't have to sing it out loud."
