(Closest to Rae I could find, [x]
Queen Deserae Valisari say in the throne room looking rather bored. Absolutely nothing of intterest had happened that day, and night was fast approaching. Soon she would be able to go out hunt, Thank the Lord. As she brushed a stray piece of hair out of her eyes, she glanced around the room, and a small sigh escaped her pale lips. The room was empty aside from her and the row os advisors who stood along the wall opposite of her. Her eyes fell upon the mirror in a corner and she scoffed.
It seemed pointless to have a mirror in the room. After all, vampires couldn't see their reflections in anycase. Though she couldn't see herself in the mirror, she knew that she was pretty. Or rather, she had often been described as beautiful with long, straight black hair that reached her waist. Her eyes were just as dark as her hair though sometimes a hint of blue could be seen in them, Her skin was pale, and often the only make up she wore was mascara, and maybe eyeliner. But that was rare.
Today she wore a red dress, that showed all the curves of her slim body. Both her arms were covered with long fingerless gloves, and she wore a silver colored necklace with a small emerald around her neck.
Looking down at the ground, she frowned as she closed her eyes. Only a little bit longer. She had thought that with the war going on, her days would at least a bit more interesting but it appeared as though she had been wrong. Her troops seemed to be eradicating the human troops within the territory without issue. And as long as no human was impudent enough to cross into the vampire territory, they'd be fine. Unless of course they were targeted in a hunt....

Thomas Davies, no pic available.
~*~*
Fighting the entire time, Thomas was dragged across a drawbridge and into a great stone castle. He struggled against the ropes binding him and the men pulling him, receiving several smacks across the face from the guards. He was quiet after that. They pulled him up several flights of stairs, past rooms and guards and other people. These people looked different from anyone else Tom had ever seen. They reminded him of the vampires he'd studied back at school. They were vampires, Tom was pretty sure of that. He just wondered why he hadn't realized that at first.
This was a war, between vampires and humans. Of course he'd been captured by the vamps. Humans would never take one of their own. The war had been going on for so long, claiming so many lives and prisoners. Tom had been drafted into the human army nearly two years ago. His courageous (or recklessness) actions had led to him being picked as one of the people to go into vampire territory. The other men Tom had gone with had been dragged away in the night. He'd even found some of their bodies, with four piercing holes in their necks. His task was simple- get into the territory, kill whomever you need to, get the emerald, and get back into human territory. It was the actual doing that was hard...
Tom's thoughts were pushed away as a door slammed open and he was pushed into it. It was a spacious room, one that looked more comfortable than the other ones he'd seen. It made him wonder why he was being put in here. The answer came to him when the guards roughly pushed him down so he was kneeling. He raised his head and saw the most terrifyingly-beautiful woman he'd ever seen. This... this was why the room was so much more nicer- this woman was the vampire queen, and this was where she lived.

Deserae stood up as the guards brought the prisoner in. Well this was certainly an interesting end to a boring day. The queen hurried over and examined the prisoner, a small smirk upon her features. "Well, well." She said quietly, as her eyes raked down his body then back up. "It seems we've caught a rat."
Brushing her long hair behind her shoulders, she dismissed the guards and looked at him. "So....human I see by your scent," She paused for a moment, "What exactly are you doing in my," she put emphasis on the last word, "territory?" As she waited for his reply, she examined one gloved hand with an expression, as she looked at the diamond ring.
A reminder of her less than fruitful marriage, what had come of it? Nothing exept a constant sense of irritation when the man, Nicholas was around. She silently thanked the Lord that the man was away on business. Of course, even if the marriage hadn't been arranged as a marriage of convenience(which in her eyes was anything except that,)she still would have become queen. After all, she was the oldest vampire alone, being the very first. She had been born during early Mesopotamia, and due to a mutation in her DNA, she had been born differently from the others in her family, and she certainly had outlived them all.

"Why d'you bother asking?" Tom asked, his voice hard. "You know why I was sent here. Or is the all-powerful, all-knowing, Queen of Vampires ignorant about this?"
He knew that he'd pay a price for speaking rudely, yet he didn't care. Now that the guards had been dismissed, he didn't need to worry about holding his tongue. True, the Queen had the power to kill him on the spot, but he was sure she wouldn't. She'd want information first, precious information about what the humans were looking for. And there was only one way, a way he wouldn't even speak about, Tom would give it to her.
{ughh, sorry for the shortness. Having a brain fart.}

[It's all right, I can guarantee you that once my writer's block kicks in, I'll have more than a few. >.< *Looks outside* Oh hey, fireworks!]
That earned him a hard slap across the face, her dark eyes narrowed as she surveyed him. Standing back a few inches, she crossed her arms and watched him with an expression of pure dislike. "All right then," she hissed, "If you can't tell me that, at least tell me who the hell you are."
She fingered the emerald on her necklace silently as she stared at him, waiting for his reply. So after all this time, they had brought her a human, and unlike the last one, this one wasn't a little wimp. Maybe the race wasn't as pathetic as it seemed. It was wrong of her to say, but she had always detested humans, as they had always treated vampires as outcasts, and well now it was the humans turn to do a little more suffering. After all, vampires killed no more than they needed to survive - if you excluded rabid newborns...

{lol. ooh, pretty fireworks! xD}
Tom flinched slightly as the queen's hand came in contact with his face. The slap was so hard that his head was whipped around and now hung limply, facing downward. There were several moments of silence before Tom looked up. There was hatred in his eyes as he stared at the queen. He stood up, crossing his arms over his chest, and glared at her. They seemed like mirror images, both standing glaring at each other with their arms crossed; the queen, with her terrible beauty and perfect clothes, and Tom, with his messy hair and ripped clothing.
"Right, that's really the way to get information," he sneered. "But, fine, I'll humor you. My name is Thomas, and I was sent here to retrieve something of yours. Something that, it is said, you use as a great power source."

Deserae shook her head, and frowned in an almost sympathetic matter, as she looked at him, many thoughts were running through her head. What to do with him? Whether or not try and get information from him, and so much more.
"Well," she said quietly after what seemed like hours, "As you've gotten this far, you'll be staying here for quite awhile. After all it would be wrong to make you come so far, and then get nothing out of it. I'll allow you to keep your life, and you'll be serving as my own personal servant. Anything I say goes - or else." She watched him, and could tell that he wasn't going to be happy with this. "And maybe, I'll even have the pleasure or turning you if you behave well.....if not.....well, I'm sure the newborns would be happy to have you."

Tom spat at her feet, hatred in his eyes What the hell? Her personal servant? She'd suck his blood whenever she felt like it, probably, and eventually it'd all be gone. This was just a slow painful way to kill him. Great. What a legacy to leave behind- he'd made it all the way into the queen's castle, into her personal quarters, only to die from having all his blood sucked out. What a lovely idea. Tom sighed deeply, knowing it was his only option. At least until she got bored of him, he'd be provided with food and somewhere to sleep. He couldn't afford to die, not now, with the chance of human victory so close.
"Fine," he said grudgingly.

Well at least he wasn't arguing over it, "Come with me, and I'll show you to your quarters." She said softly, gently touching his wrist before heading out of the room. Glancing toward him with a frown a small sigh escaped her lips. As shocking as it was, she did feel a tad bit bad about keeping him there, she did have a conscience after all, but she really didn't see how she could just let him walk out of the castle. Not only would it ruin her reputation as queen, it might inspire other territories to start a war with her, the same had happen had happened to the last ruler of the territory. The man had "gone soft" and let his prisoner go, after that came the attacks.

The fire in Tom's eyes seemed to die down slightly. At least she hadn't slapped him again. Rubbing his wrist, the skin where she'd touched him seemed to burn, he followed her out of the room. He quickened his pace a little, so he was now walking beside her. The eyes of the many guards seemed to bore into his back; they were obviously angry that Tom dared walk beside, rather than behind, the queen, but they didn't dare say anything. A self-satisfied smirk in place on his face, Tom continued walking beside her.
"What am I s'posed to do, as your 'personal servant'?" he asked, making air quotes around the last two words.

Deserae looked at him for a second before looking at him again once more. "That, I'm afraid I haven't quite decided yet." She paused, "But I suppose for the most part, I'll just have you follow me around carry things for me, and maybe take notes during meetings if I tell you to." Looking back at him, she stopped walking and opened a large oak door, that led to a simple dark room. The room was windowless, and there was a single light in the room which was from a candle, beside that sat a box of matches. The bed was a queen size, and made neatly with a blanket and two pillows. Besides the was a small table. "This is where you will be sleeping." She told him, "Sometime tonight, one of my maids will bring you fresh clothing, and when you are called to eat either come then or miss it, breakfast is early, at approximately seven A.M, lunch is at noon, and dinner is at sunset."

"Sounds like a tough schedule," Tom answered dryly. He sat down on the edge of the bed. The mattress didn't feel very comfortable, and the blanket was worn, but he supposed it would do. He wanted to complain about the conditions, but with one glance at the queen, knew not to. She looked tired, worn, much different than she had in her room. He looked down at the wooden floor. "Thanks," he murmured, glancing up briefly.

"Yeah," Deserae said, "I'll bring you dinner in a few moments, since everybody has already eaten." Without another word, she turned and headed out of the room, and down to the kitchens where she ordered the chef to put leftovers from the earlier dinner on a plate, and to make some tea.
After getting the food and tea, she headed back to the room, and entered setting a plate with chicken, potatoes, and bread on the table next to the tea. She looked at him and sighed before walking over to doorway, and leaning against the door.
"I'm not as bad as you may think," She told him, I have a conscience too, and I am sorry about this, but I have no other choices."

"It's okay," Tom answered. "It's better than killing me." Like you did my other teammates he mentally added. He stood up and went over to the table. He sat down, slumping a little, and began picking at the potatoes and bread. They were, to his surprise, very good. He picked up a piece of the chicken and took a bite. The taste of it filled his mouth and entire being. It was delicious, better than anything he'd ever eaten. He ate the rest of the piece, as well as two more, ravenously. It'd been so long since he'd had real food to eat. Ten minutes and an empty plate later, Tom looked back up at the queen. "Good food," he said, a faint red color tinging his cheeks.

"Well, I'll let you get some rest." She told him, "Lavatory is down the hall and to your right, my room is down the hall and to your left. If you go upstairs all you will find is an attic so don't waste your time."
Not to mention, I don't want anybody up there. She thought, she'd never allowed anybody in that room, not even her husbands. The room was where she kept all of her belongings from earlier years. Everything from childhood toys, to jewelry, to diaries and to photo albums with portraits of her own children who has passed away during the 1300's due to the plague. And more than anything, she didn't want anybody knowing about her mirror, which if one tried hard enough, they could see the past in it. The room was her own personal place, her peaceful haven, and she didn't want anything to disturb it.
"Good night," She said as she walked down the hall to her bedroom, and laid on the bed and a small sigh escaped her lips. So much for going out to hunt.

"Night," Tom called as she left.
He stretched out on the bed. Although it was rather uncomfortable, it was better than what he'd been sleeping on- the ground, more often than not cluttered with rocks. He pulled the blanket around him, staring up at the ceiling. The entire castle seemed to be silent and it was a little unnerving; Tom was used to the outdoor night sounds- owls hooting, animals moving around, the wind. He rolled over on his side so his back was facing the door, closed his eyes, and tried to get some sleep.

Tom opened his eyes blearily. For a few moments, he was unsure of where he was. Then, in a rush, all of yesterday's events came back to him. Groaning a little, he didn't want to get out of bed, he sat up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. A quick glance around the room confirmed that someone had, in fact, brought clean clothes for him. He quickly changed out of his old ripped clothes, leaving them in a heap on the chair, and into the fresh clothes. Surprisingly, they fit him perfectly. He left the room and wandered out into the hallway. "Morning," he said, running a hand through his hair.

"Morning." She said before leading him towards the dining room. Or rather hall. Entering the room, she sat down at the far end of the table and instructed for him to sit to her left. The cooks brought out several plates a long with a pitcher of orange juice, and another with milk, and yet another with coffee. She poured herself a cup of coffee, and placed some fruit, eggs, and a steak on her plate.
"Go ahead and help yourself."

"Thanks," Tom said gratefully. It'd been so long since he'd had real food... He poured himself a cup of coffee and slid into the seat beside her. Tom selected two pieces of toast, which he covered in butter. He also took a couple spoonfuls of eggs. He began munching his toast, looking at her sideways. Steak? For breakfast? Weird. But she was a vampire. That was probably something Tom would do well to remember. He finished his first piece of toast and started ripping the crust off of his second. "So what're we doing today?" he asked.

As Deserae cut up her steak she watched him eat for a moment. "We'l be going ito town." She paused. "And shopping." Brushing her bangs out of her eyes she took a bite of her steak. "I don't allow my servants to shop for me as they never get anything right. You'll be carrying everything for me."

Shopping had never been something he was fond of. Especially when it was with another female, like his sister or mother. If Deserae was anything like them, she'd want to try on tons of clothes and buy everything she tried on, then not even wear most of them.
