With this stated I would like to chime in a few ideas about different races in this world. I think humans are a of course. Elves, half elves, halflings, dragonborn, drow, dwarves, orcs, and goblins are the only ones on the top of my head rightnow.

I also think there should be a common dialogue between races, something almost everyone can understand.

Do not really feel like going into description with them right now. But I will go ahaid and describe dragonborn, since that is really the only race that is probebly raising eyebrows like 'what is that?'.

I also want to stress the point that I think Orcs and Goblins should not be playable races.

Orcs should work in unified tribes that pack up and move based on the seasons, though some would stay stationary. They raid (small settlements or merchant wagons) as they pass by, and their leader is ushually able to speak a broken common the peons able to say some key phrases and understand some of the dialect. I would also expect orcs to have certain duties withen their tribes, such as a cheif, a few hut makers, cloth weavers, gathers, weapon makers (very few), armor makers, ex. With the bulk of their population as warriors and hunters. Orcs would raid a small village for the following reasons; to obtain weapons, food, trade goods, shiny things, armor to rip apart and put back together to make bigger armor that would fit an orc, and for the lols. Orcs would fight to the last breath, only retreating when their leader or second in command blowing a horn signifying the need to retreat.

Goblins should travel around as they please in small enough groups to be trouble, but not enough to be able to take on established towns, I see them sticking to caravans and small groups of travelers. They know key phrases like "Me gonna keel you!", "Ugly she-elf!", and my favorite "Don't Keel me!". Goblins do not have specific jobs, the only thing they have is a cheif and a goblin who can use magic both of which work together to decide the group's next move. Being a small creature limits them in terms of weapon use. They would raid mostly for fun, taking whatever they think to take after each victim is dead. Unlike orcs, the Goblins have no organization once the fighting starts. They know how to set up an ambush, and from there they proceed with little talk of tactics. Like the orcs the cheif leads them in all things, the mystic staying behind. At the slightest hint of defeat the goblins scatter and run, shouting their key phrases of defeat. Once out of harms way all living goblins will meet at the camp where they will complain about ugly she-elves.

Dragonborn: Dragonborn are a very smart and intellegent race, living to be 70-120 years old. Their exsistance a mystery even to their own race. They stand 5' 8"(shortest) to 7' 6" (tallest). They are a huminoid creature, covered in scales like that of a dragon but much smaller in size and offer less in the form of protection. Dragonborn are muscular and have a thick frame, ushually needing special armor or armor altercations to cover them correctly. Their dragon heritage is also shown through one of their unique abilities, they are almost always born with the ability to breath an element (Ushually coenciding with the color of their scales). This ability is short lived, the range is limited to 5 feet infront of the dragonborn, with a 12-15 foot width. After using this ability their glands must fill back up with the needed mixture of juices for another blast, this takes a good 2-5 hours. Almost the entire population falls under the rule of two kingdoms, both using a king, queen, and council system. Both kingdoms have similair laws and wide spread beliefs, governing over very few other races rather than dragonborn. Thier culture is based on pride in physical prowress and respect for parents and elders. They have been discovered by the other races (all of which have formed a council to establish peace allowing each dragonborn kingdom to have a seat in it) in a misunderstood bloody war that lasted just under five months (this was two years ago). The dragborn are still looked upon as outsides, very intimidating outsides. And their views on the other races are skewed by the dramatic difference in appearance, and the recent war. Being very intellegent creatures they have learned common quite quickly and are now able to communicate with the other races efficently. Though that is to say that most dragonborn farther into the kingdoms know much less than the traders, adventurers, and diplomates. Those traveling into the dragonborn territory and hoping to learn the language are in for quite a hard time. The Draconic language (language of the dragons) is very different from common, their similarities being few and far between.

What does everyone think?

Oh and another thing, in my opinion the Drow should live in dark places such as mountains and caves really only talking with the dwarves on occassion. They keep more to themselves.

Do you think I could make a Dragonborn runt? More wirey than muscular?

Isaac can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure that would be fine as long as you keep it realistic (that seems to be the key). ;]

I have a question for everybody, what type of weather should we start in? Everybody vote, then we can discuss if there are any ties. I vote for Early or middle fall.

Well it looks like early fall it is, and I am fine with your specifics Kaiyunei. Well I plan to have the forum ready to post in by tommarow (tuesday), with or without everyones characters. I am finishing my second character up right now. So look forward to tomorrow :].

My first post doesn't really do anything. It just happens to introduce my character. All it would do is place a setting.
