Hey, here's something I was thinking would be good to post somewhere (and of course, you're welcome to change any of it if you want, it being your story and all ^_^)
Werewolves vs. Vampires: The Breakdown
In a straight one-on-one unarmed fight between a werewolf and a vampire, the werewolf would probably win; their claws and teeth can actually hurt (though not kill; only fire can do that) vampires, being supernatural weapons, and they are also pound-for-pound faster and stronger. However, vampires know this, so when fighting a werewolf they rarely go unarmed and never go alone. Werewolves, being more primitive and animalistic in nature, are generally clumsy with things like tools and weapons and prefer to do things with their bare hands/claws, and while they do hunt well in packs they are significantly less organized than the vampires are. Also, vampires being immortal, there are many more vampires over all than werewolves, so a direct all-on-all assault would swiftly end in the werewolves' defeat. In a straight run, a werewolf will quickly out-run a vampire, having supernatural speed themselves but also twice as many legs. A werewolf could easily catch up to a vampire on a straight shot, but vampires are much harder to track over long distances as they leave little to no scent behind. Conversely, a vampire will almost never catch up to a werewolf it is chasing straight off, but werewolves leave very strong and distinct scent trails, so they are much easier to track over long distances. Werewolves' and vampires' bites are extremely painful and can cause serious damage to one another, but they cannot change them. In theory a vampire could kill a werewolf by draining all of its blood as they would a human, but werewolf blood is very bitter and distasteful to a vampire, it makes them rather sick to their stomach and does not push back the hunger at all, so they will usually seek other methods of killing them. Werewolves are not immortal, but they are very strong; a stab wound through the heart will certainly severely weaken a a werewolf, but it will heal in about three days with proper medical attention. They can die from blood loss or decapitation, or from being shot or stabbed through the heart or brain with silver. Silver wounds inflict serious damage, and even a minor flesh wound inflicted with silver will take weeks to fully heal over. The mere presence of silver does nothing, so they can wear silver jewelry with no negative effects; it must contact the blood to do any damage. As silver does aggravated damage to werewolves, so fire does to vampires; even a minor flame burn will take weeks to heal over, and a strike with a flaming weapon can leave a permanent scar. But even a flaming arrow through the heart will not kill a vampire; it will incapacitate it for a month or so, but they will eventually heal, as only a complete dismemberment and subsequent burning of the entire body can fully kill the otherwise immortal vampire.
...That's about all I can think of for now, what do you think?

^_^ I do what I can. A lot of that I just made up, actually, though I hope I did a good enough job of making everything fit together so that the two types of creatures are sufficiently different without being unbalanced in either direction.
Hiiii Tali ^_^

Oh, one more thing, then I have to log off for a bit (chores and whatnot), I was thinking about how the werewolves' hunger works, rather than just lack of flesh means it's harder to go wolf, I was thinking somewhat the opposite might work better; it makes it harder to stay human.
It'd be sort of like a scale. A werewolf who goes for about a week without feeding on any kind of flesh, but just eating normal human food (eating cooked meat as a human doesn't count; it has to be raw flesh from a fresh kill eaten in wolf form; flesh eaten while in the forced full moon transformation --though it pushes back the feeling of the hunger-- doesn't count for this), will find it very difficult and somewhat painful to return from wolf form, and will have only about half of their human intelligence as a wolf. They will be completely unable to resist the beast during the full moon transformation. After a month without feeding, they will be stuck permanently as an ordinary wolf, with no human intelligence and impossible to turn human again. They will still transform on the full moon, but they will be more like a Hispo form from World of Darkness (sort of a Dire-Wolf form; larger and stronger but hardly any human traits at all) and will be stark-raving mad for the entire night. There are a few of these wolves out in the forest, but they rarely come lose enough to the village to cause any harm, and if they ever do they are kept in check by the normal werewolves. Any of these who got anywhere near the castle would be easily killed by the vampires.
A werewolf who is fed a steady diet of animal flesh but has never fed on human flesh will have full control over their human-wolf transformation, and will retain about 90% of their human intellignece while in wolf form. They will also have about 20% of their wolf instincts added while in human form -- better perception, faster reflexes, stronger sense of sight and smell, etc. They will be forced to transform into the half-beast form on the full moon, but if they have very strong willpower and have fed on animal flesh that day they have a good chance of retaining enough control not to attack any other werewolves, though the presence of a human or the scent of blood may be enough to break that control. Most werewolves fall in or near this category, and the pack tries its best to stay as close to this area as they can.
If a werewolf starts feeding on human flesh, it starts gaining even more control over its human-wolf trnasformation, able to even stop halfway in between (this halfway form is different from the forced full moon transformation, and is more like the 1950's "Wolfman" kind of thing), though this takes tremendous effort and is somewhat painful to do. Feeding in this form counts against the hunger just like feeding in wolf form would. The more frequently they have fed on human flesh --and the closer to the night of the full moon their last feeding was-- the more control and intelligence they retain during their forced transformation. A werewolf who has been consistently feeding on human flesh its entire life and whose last feeding was earlier that day will retain full control over itself during its forced transformation, and can even voluntarily enter that transformation one night early or stay in it until the next night, but not both (and this takes a tremendous amount of effort). If such a werewolf does exist, the pack is unaware of it and would certainly never associate with it, but would rather kill it on sight.

Whoa, nice Cal. I approve of your diligence! I think we're going to have to have some vampire vs. werewolf fights soon. We do need more wolves though, perhaps I'll add one eventually.
Have you ever read any of the Terry Pratchett books? There are a few of them that have pretty interesting stuff about werewolves. Plus they're hilarious

Oh, how could I have forgotten Devilfern?
Definitely essential.
C:
As long as everyone keeps posting and catching up on all the new info, I think we'll do fine.
I'm expecting 3 characters tonight, all male, so we are definitely not going to be so slow anymore.
Well, we're not exactly slow. It's just only a few of us posting and having a conversation and some "lone wolves" who have yet to run into anyone.
I forgot what I was talking about. I have a PM. Imma go check that. 8D
