I would like to Text Roleplay But Never have.
Would someone be kind enough to give me some pointers? And/Or give me the basics. Much appreciated.

Well... a big rule of thumb is respect. :)
Although you might not have encountered this yet, there are different kinds of roleplayers, styles, and ways of writing. I know, obvious, but sometimes that is forgotten. So at the end of the day, people just wanna be respected for how they rp and hopefully have an enjoyable one at that. :) Trust me, I get this from playing years at Neopets. xDDD It's what taught me in all honesty. |
On top of respecting others I think a big thing people look for is decent grammar/spelling and no chatspeaking. I may just be speaking for myself in some cases but I don't think I am. People seem to like nicely laid out posts done in paragraphs and all of that kind of stuff. But, try not to take crit too hard, more times than not people are trying to make you a better roleplayer, if you don't agree with them that's all right but you still need to respect them and if you feel disrespected you should tell them. But at the end of the day roleplay is meant to be a fun pass time, so just have fun with it.

The two above give good pointers. Everyone is alright with new players and it gets easier with practice.. It's sometimes easier to learn when you find a partner to RP with in private forums and learn that way before jumping into group roleplays just so you don't feel totally inexperienced compared to others.
I've written a guide that you can check out, here: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/commun...n-new-old.html |
I'm going to move this to the OOC threads, where out-of-character posting belongs. Thanks! Good luck with your RPing. :D
