I don't understand why they wouldn't let him give out his cell number to a friend. I don't want to sound insensitive but, he only has so much time left, right? What could they possibly be worried about? I think at least you could talk to him, give him whatever comfort you can. I dunno, that's just me I suppose. Just do whatever you can, dear.
