I hate my laptop.... it's dying on me... T^T so now I have to use the 'home' computer which sits in Mom's room.... >.<

I'm not sure what the problem is exactly... it seemed for a while like just dust buildup preventing the computer from turning on and starting... so I was using a can of compressed air, and that worked for the week.. but increasingly it became harder and harder to start... the can is almost empty now.. Dx
The thing is the light turns on when I press the power button, but the monitor does nothing and eventually the light stops blinking, meaning the computer isn't thinking anymore.. it's a real pain because my laptop connects to the internet much easier than the home computer, and I have all my favorite websites on the favorite list already, that and I have a lot of pictures and word documents on my laptop that I didn't get the chance to transfer onto a cd for storage... so if I have to send my laptop to Jon, my mom's friend who is really good with computers, I might not get back the same laptop, at least, I'll probably not have the same stuff on it as I did before, and I'll lose a lot of information... Dx

though thankfully I sent the story I was writing through e-mail to a separate e-mail address of mine, so I won't lose that... but it's still a big pain... T^T

Maybe your computer guy can take out your hardrive so you can get some of the stuff off of it, unless its the hardrive that's dead... I'm okay with computers but I don't know a whole lot about the inner working parts. >.<

I invested in an external hardrive that I back my stuff up on. Still, that too will die eventually so I'm still worried about losing my stuff. I've started putting a lot of stuff on photobucket and uploading pictures to CDs... Some documents can be put on Google Docs and there are sites to save your favorites too. Idealistically you could actually store pretty much everything online nowadays to prevent losing a lot of stuff, it's just more of a pain to do so. T_T

yeah, I'll need to ask Jon if he can salvage anything on the hard-drive itself, because it doesn't feel to me like that's the real problem... it's just some really stupid and random thing preventing my computer from starting... other than that, when I get it working, it works just fine... there are no problems with anything else, just with the startup... >.<

Yeah, hopefully you can get your stuff off. It doesn't really seem like the hard drive to me either but I don't really know what it could be really. >.<

that's alright, I'm not going to be online much myself because my laptop isn't working properly... I have to use the home computer and that's a bit too annoying for me to stay on for any length of time... especially since the chair hurts after a while... T^T

No worries. Between school and other obligations, I haven't been on much recently either (and usually only late at night). We should try and each post at least once whenever we can get online though, just to keep the RP alive and give the others something to reply to.
