This is the place where you will ask questions and learn about this rp and the plot and EVERYTHING before you'll even think about sending in a profile to me. I'm going to be very picky about posting style, length, and literacy for this rp. I don't want it lessened by someone who refuses to fill my expectations. You comply or you're out. But I won't bite.. not much. XD I'll just kindly remove you from the rp and tell you to clean up your act and research in this thread some more before you'll be allowed back in.

Rules:

1) Follow Mene ToS
2) No Godmodding
3) Try to keep things PG13 (cursing is allowed but keep f word to minimum)
4) Be literate (means your posts will NOT be less than six full sentences long. )
5) Warn us when you will be unable to post for more than a few days. We don't need a reason but a warning is always nice. If I do not hear from you in more than a week then you will be removed from the rp without hesitation.
6) If you haven't submitted a profile AND been accepted, don't post
7) Put all OOC in this thread. Keep it out of the rp thread.
8) If you want to leave the RP do it in a way that won't leave anyone hanging, DON'T just drop out.
9) You can have up to 4 characters But I may have more than that considering I will be in control of Grant, the leader of the Broken band, my own character, and I'll be the first few Infected.

The basics.

A post apolcalyptic world, runs off the caste system. It has become rather mideval with little pockets of modern times still in evidence. No true government system, more like a village leader and the villagers.

There is a deadly virus going around. The human population is dwindling. Some of these humans are genetically unstable and some have mutated/have extra powers. Most of these genetically instable people are orphans as parents refuse to keep such children as their own.

Some of these children choose to be taken in by a man named Grant and after he trains then they are accepted socially by the rest of the population. This is only because they are trained by Grant to control the Infected and get them to the incineration chambers to be burned alive. Incineration of the host is the only way to stop the spread of the virus from that individual.

The virus affects everyone and will focus on the genetic flaws of the host should they have particularly instable genetics but some can carry the virus and pass it along without even knowing it. Once a vulnerable host is infected the virus attacks by twisting their genetics, increasing the mutations in their body and powers. It twists their mind also, turning them hostile to everyone they encounter. The Infected must then be gotten under control and incinerated immediately.

This will focus on a select group of orphans in Grant's care. The small band that live above a small grocery store. They learn each other and come to trust each other greatly and become a family but suffer hardship and sorrow when one of their own becomes Infected and they have to capture him and incinerate him before he kills too many.

The Mutations

The mutations of those who are the Broken, or mutants, are less physical than they are magical. They have special powers that can sometimes manifest physically. Someone who can see the future will have little to no physical traits showing this but someone who can, say, freeze things with ice could be cold to the touch or have frost on their skin. Someone who can control plants might have green hair or brown hair streaked with green. They may have leaf patterns on their skin.

The Virus will exaggerate the powers of the Broken and will cause more physical mutations than in their powers but it will make their powers stronger to a certain degree. I will be the first few Infected so you can see just what's involved when they get infected.

Their World

They live in a post apocalyptic world where technology has been done away with. Electricity still works in some places but those places are dwindling. There are still many many people on the planet and they live in a few cities spread across the world. The crime rate in this world isn't high.

There is no currency on this world. If you want something you must have another object of equal value or you must haggle and barter to an agreement. Work is scarce and it's hard to make a living.

There are may underground buildings, many of them hold the incineration chambers which look like upright boilers or water heaters. These underground buildings used to be malls and homes.

There are many trees if you know where to look for them but most of the populated areas are barren and bleak. Water is scarce but not impossible to find and shared when found.

Buildings are being held together with scraps of whatever people can find from the old days. Education is returning to the world but slowly and many people can't read or write.

The History

The current status of this world was brought on by a nuclear war. There was a terrible war that no one even remembers the cause of any more but they're trying to recover from the damage it caused. Due to the radiation caused by this war it altered the human genetics so they're instable now and it has mutated a virus to attack the instabilities. After the war, people emerged and started rebuilding their lives, trying their best to pass on their ways of life to their children but survival was put before education.

The People

There is no slavery between the types/races of people. There is no segregation but some, very little though, prejudice from the humans to the Broken.

Humans- Dominant race and consider themselves better than the Broken. They are less susceptible to being mutated by the virus once infected. Many humans can carry the virus all their lives without ever knowing it but some who are stable enough not to be a Broken but are more instable than the average human will become a Broken and extremely hostile to anyone they encounter.

Broken- Human's that have genetic instabilities weak enough that they've changed into something more stable and less likely to go awry. They have special powers but their mutations are less physical than magical.

Infected- The mutations are more physical than magical though they are still magical as well. Any magical powers they had before will be twisted to a different form of power but something related and will be increased in strength.

Powers: Can temporarily stop the powers of the Infected but can only initiate it as a time when they're off guard. He can also mock the Infected, boost his power to become as if he were an Infected but it takes a lot out of him.
Personality: Boisterous and loud. He's happy and cheerful, has a good sense of humor sometimes but most of his joke are pretty cheesy. He's caring and fatherly and understanding of others problems.
Appearace: Tall, 6ft 7in, muscular build of a man used to honest labor. Broad muscular shoulders, thick torso and strong arms and legs. His face is honest and open, eyes colored violet and hair shaved. His skin is tanned from hard work in the sun. When he uses his powers his skin becomes streaked violet and azure in thin parallel lines all over his body.
Bio: He's lived all his life as an honest man, doing an honest man's work and when the Infected started popping up he discovered his power and started helping the humans with getting the Infected under control. The first Broken he took in as his student was a young boy who's mother had become an Infected and had to be incinerated by him.
Extra:Grant pushes his students hard but he knows when to stop and will not push them over the edge.

Powers: The powers of other Broken do not affect him but the powers of the Infected do, he is immune to the virus. If angered enough he will black out and a devastating power will be released, causing chaos.
Personality: Rough around the edges, offends easily and can be a bit crass or rude and insensitive at times. Hardened and tough.
Appearace: Short messy, brown hair, hazel eyes and tanned skin. He is tall around 6ft 3in, and muscular but lean. He's got strong broad shoulders, a square jaw, and full lips, his eyes are slightly sunken and his face is drawn (thin).
Bio: When he was young his parents tossed him out and in anger he returned that night and killed them both, letting his sister escape in devastation he set to the house. He's never felt guilty about murdering his parents nor has he told anyone and he is hardened from the many years he fended for himself on the streets before Grant found him.
Extra: He has a certain air of darkness and mystery around him as if he's not telling everything one would need to know about him.

Powers: Anything that comes in contact with her skin will be frozen slowly, prolonged contact with her skin can cause the victim to become fully encased in ice. She can only use available and preexisting water sources to freeze things, ie. water in the air or in the victim's body. Large supplies of water, such as lakes and rivers, freeze very quickly when she chooses for them to but it can tire her out very quickly if the body of water is too big.
Personality: She is quiet and graceful. Somewhat ageless in a way. She keeps to herself and seems to always cling to the background of social events. If confronted Lilly will usually take the time to talk to someone unless they become bothersome and then she can be quite hurtful. Lilly spends most of her time in solitude, sticking to high places, on roofs and in trees.
Appearace:She's tall, standing at 5ft 8in, and thin, her build slender and elven. Her hair is long, down to her back, dark brown and flows smoothly. Her eyes are iceberg blue and piercing, her skin pure white, tinged blue, and glitters with a thin layer of frost that shifts slowly towards anything that comes in contact with her.
Bio: She knows very little of her past. Only that when she was a child she woke up on the surface of a lake frozen solid with two people frozen within the lake, staring up towards the surface in complete terror. She had no knowledge of who they were and to this day she still wonders if they'd been her parents. She doesn't think on it often but can get upset when she's reminded of it. She mostly wanders from city to city, making the same route each year to got good jobs when they're more likely to be available to her.
Extra: She has been found by Trent but Grant doesn't allow students to simply lead others back to Home. If Grant didn't find them first they must find Grant themselves to become accepted. During fights her feet never touch the ground if she can help it.

Gender:Male
Powers: He's able to control the speed at which plants can grow as long as the plant is alive to begin with. His powers will work on seeds too.
Personality: Happy-go-lucky and playful, he cracks jokes constantly but he's sly in a way that would make him an excellent thief.
Appearace:His hair is dirty brown with tinges of green in it and his skin is tanned and smudged with dirt.. His eyes are bright and happy, colored of that of a new leaf and his face is just as open at Grant's. They look similar enough that some wonder if Richard is his son though Grant has no children of his own. Build is lean and healthy, a bit on the scrawny side at his height of 5ft 7in.
Bio: When he was younger he lived with his mother and father inside the city. No one expected it less when his mother became an Infected and started rampaging about the city. Richard was so shocked by it he followed his mother around the city, too young to understand the virus and what it'd done to his mother. That was how he met Grant and once he'd gotten a small explanation about it he helped Grant capture his mother and was the first Broken to be taken in by him.
Extra:Richard will become the first major Infected you will encounter in this rp. Also he has an earthy smell.

Gender: Female
Powers: She can see the future but can’t control when or how far into the future.
Personality: Introvered to the extreme. When she does speak it’s rarely a kind word but mostly she watches everything around her and only tells what needs to be told. Most of the time she is silently fuming about her physical condition.
Appearace: Hair is black of void, falls in her face a lot and is medium length. Eyes are sunken in and color is black. Skin is grey as if dead. Build is too thin and too small, weak. She moves as if every movement takes great effort from her. Her chronological age is 17 but her physical age is still 9.
Bio: There’s not much to say about her. She led a privileged life, considering the shape of the world, until her powers made themselves known. The physical sign weren’t noticed immediately but were blamed on an unknown illness because the first signs were a halt in growth and development and lack of energy. Only when her skin began to grey, eye color turn opalized, and her hair darken to blackest black did they realize that she was Broken and she was turned out into the streets. A few years after, she got a sudden vision of Grant, enough to tell her what he was about and where he would be and she found him and has lived with him ever since.

Powers: She can see into people. If she looks at you she can see your emotion, your intention, your power. She can tell a lot about a person, the only problem is that she gets terrible, incapacitating migraines if she does it too long.
Personality: Molly is very quiet. she doesn't like her ability and finds it rather useless. She hates it when people help her, but because of her gift, she is technically blind. She always tries to prove herself. She can seem stand offish at first but is quite happy once you get to know her.
Appearance: Molly is a tiny girl about 5'1 with long auburn hair that hangs past her waist. She often wears her hair in braids. She tends to wear bandages over her eyes or a black hooded cloak with a hood that conceals her golden colored eyes.
Bio: Molly's parents abandoned her when she was young, they didn't know how to deal with her strange gift. Molly lived on the streets for most of her life, self medicating on medicinal herbs to treat the migraines. Since she cant physically see, Molly sees people in colors and that's how she reads them, when she sees someone who is infected, they are a black color even if the person didn't know it yet. Molly learned quickly what the black meant and took to caring a baseball bat in her bag should something bad come from that person. That's when Grant found her and took her in.
Extra: She doesn't let anyone touch the bandages on her eyes. NO ONE

Age: 16
Gender: Male
Powers: Drake's body temperature is unnaturally high. Anyone that touches him gets burned almost instantly. He cant touch lots of things, depending on the item it may melt/burst into flames/ be scorched. room temperature always increases if he is in the room. If Drake focuses hard enough he can create a flame in his hand, but he can only do it for short periods of time before he becomes too exhausted.
Personality: Drake lacks social skills. He doesn't communicate well and tends to just do things without thinking and this often gets him into trouble. He is always happy and smiling but he tends to stand in the background because hes afraid of getting too close to people.
Appearance: 5'9" Drake has jet black hair, cut short and spiked in the front. He often goes shirtless because it is hard to find a shirt that doesn't burn off of him. He wears old flame resistant pants as they are the only things that keep him covered. He has a large ugly scar that cuts across his chest.
Bio: Drake was on his own ever since he was five and his powers came out. He accidentally burned down his home and killed his parents. It took him a few years to learn how to handle his abilities. He doesn't like his ability, but he has found it comes in handy for facing the infected. He doesn't talk about his parents because it is the one thing he regrets but he doesn't let the memories keep him down.
Extra: Drake wears a titanium necklace, it means a lot to him, and it often glows red from his heat.

Age: 9
Gender: Female
Powers: Copy cat. If she touches you, she can then do whatever ability you have, but the effects are temporary and only last about five minutes. If she does it more than twice in a row she is completely tapped and will pass out.
Personality: Emma is a happy girl, always smiling and wanting to make friends. She is full of energy and hates sitting still unless she is drawing, that's her favorite. When she does get bored or nervous she chews on her cuticles. She tends to be shy at first meeting her, but she is quick to change into being open as soon as others make an attempt to know her.
Appearance: Dark hair past her shoulders, tied back in two braids and bangs that cover part of her forehead. Bright green eyes and a freckled covered pale face. She wears an old tattered pale green dress. Around her neck hangs a small gold chain. On this necklace is a small amethyst oval gem with other smaller sapphires set around it
Bio: Emma doesn't remember much of her family. Just that her mom loved music and now she does too. She was on her own her whole life it seemed, being taken care of by random strangers until she was about five when she broke. Nothing too bad happened, she just realized she was different and set off to find others like herself.

Powers: Rik can shoot lighting from his hands, but only for a certain amount of time. He's rather average in almost every aspect of his life. He's somewhat smart, not a super genuis or anything, but smart enough. He is conflicted with this powers. He sees the good in having them but also the bad. It always seems that the lighting gets stronger and he can use it more with each passing month.
Personality: Rik is kind, but tends to keep to himself. He has some self hating issues concerning his powers, but all in all he's somewhat of a laid back sort of guy. He doesn't really care what others do around him as along they don't get in his way.
Appearace: Rik is tall and lean, a bit on the skinny side. He eats when needs to. He has lpale white skin with freckles across his nose and cheeks. He stands around six feet and two inches. He has smokey grey eyes that seem to be icy at times. His hair is short, a little shaggy in the back, its the color of golden wheat. He tends to pulled his hair back from his face with his hands when he's stressed. He has a few scars on his back from fights and such from his younger days. He wears whatever clothes he can find during his travels. He perfers loose fitting cargo pants with lots of pockets, a slightly tight black t-shirt and tennis shoes.
Bio: Rik doesn't really remember where he's from or who he really is. He just remembers waking up one day in a rusty bunker. It had looked like it'd been destroyed. He just had the clothes on his back, some old photos and a backpack filled with some basic supplies.
Extra: Rik doesn't like it when people try to touch his stuff.

Age: 20
Gender: Male
Powers: Telekinsis (moving objects with his mind, force pushing people from him, and a mental shield.) If he uses it too

much or overextends himself, he gets bad nosebleeds, faints or even loses memories or motorskills.
Personality: Jared is shy, quiet and very smart. He's a quick learner and is able to read people very well. When you get him loosened up, he can be silly and child like.
Appearace: He's tall, around 6'3", slight build, he looks weaker than he actually is, he has slightly tanned skin, dark hair and bright blue eyes.
Bio: Jared was a son of a somewhat wealthy man before he broke. When he did, his father shunned him. His mother did as well. He never had a really good relationship with his parents, they weren't ever proud of their son no matter how hard he tried. So he lived on his own for only a few months now, trying hard to learn his powers and control them.

Name: Diva Jacqueline Monterra

Age: Twenty

Gender: Female

Powers: She has the ability to manipulate shadow, though it's more for surveillance than any kind of attack. As of right now, manipulating shadow into a physical object for attack takes a lot out of her and can leave her bedridden for an indeterminant amount of time, depending on how much she has to use it. The first sign she is using it too much is rapidly diminishing sight, followed by blood dripping from her nose, and ultimately unconsciousness.

Personality: Diva, or D.J. as she prefers to be called, is a happy-go-lucky individual that seems to have a smile on her face most of the time. She hates to be a burden to anyone, real or imagined. She hates arguing and becomes frightened when people start screaming at her for no reason. She starts to twist her hands and chew on her bottom lip in an effot to not bolt or have tears come to her eyes. Despite this, she tries to keep peace between everyone and will brave the screaming if it will stop the fighting. Her hobbies include reading, music, and perfecting her abilities under Grant's tutelage.

Appearace: At 5'11, D.J. is by no means a small girl, meaning she can end up smacking her head against low pipes or entry-ways if she's not paying attention. Lanky is probably a word that can describe her build, appearing to be mostly legs and arms with a modest torso, but she holds herself confidently so that no one can think she is clumsy. Her skin is ivory-shaded with a pink tinge, her long, jet-black hair normally pulled back into a loose braid. It might be a little unnerving to look her dead in the eyes; although her face is heart-shaped, with pale pink full lips, her eyes look as if her pupils have completely dominated her irises. They are completely black so that one cannot discern iris from pupil, making it rather eerie to those who don't know her very well...well, actually, she's pretty sure it's eerie to those who have known her for awhile.

Bio: Back then, her eyes were a chocolate brown and she wasn't nearly as pale. Other than that, her life was pretty average; she was the only daughter of the family and was being taught Tae Kwon Do by her father, both for self-defense and as something that interested her. One day, however, she was caught off-guard when a friend of hers suddenly went on a rampage while visiting. The only reason why she wasn't killed outright was because she'd gone to grab something from her room. Her father and mother, unfortunately, were not so lucky, as they had been in the room. Hearing the screams, she was terrified to see what her friend had done; her friend took the opportunity to try and kill D.J.. D.J. isn't really sure what happened, but the next thing she knew was that she had gone through the wall and was on the ground on her back. Her friend came crashing through a window and was suddenly thrown back by a black object that had swung forward when D.J. screamed. Taking the opportunity, D.J. ran, trying to get help, only to be rudely awakened to the fact that her friend hadn't been the only one to change. Now feared since she was a Broken, she wandered about, trying to live from day-to-day, when she finally met Grant. She had been defending herself from a Infected that had happened to be nearby.

Extra: If she could have anything, she'd want a dog.
