Hey guys I'll be performing in the phantom of the opera at my high school. So therefore I won't be on in the next week very often.

@puppet: That is cool, I am sure you will be able to get on every once in a while and throw us a post which is just fine.
@MintyRey: Yeah that is fine. Our heroes are all at the same level of skill, just in different areas. Adel might have won a match against Tala also, and Adel losing the first few times is most feasible since she had been at the guild so long and is used to more traditional fighting methods than a ring blade.

I was wondering if you guys could help me think of what other trials the teams will face. I foresee a team vs team battle but I would assume that would be the last challenge before the mission. I was thinking 3 challenges after lunch (the last one being the team battle). But I want the other two to be less about fighting.

A few ideas I have are:
-Sort of like a treasure hunt in the woods, start off with a clue and find more clues as you go along. Have a limited number of 'treasures' at the end. Then have the group need to carry it back, and of course that offers opportunities for other groups to see and attack for their treasure or take it and run (which would be legal and there would be healers placed around the forest area). I would think the treasure is literally a treasure chest filled with rocks to make it heavier and force the groups to travel a little slower.
-Free form race through part of the countryside to a small post with flags in it, grab a flag and run back. Only when the team member carrying the flag passes the finish line does that team count as done. There might be certain places (as with the treasure hunt) where different members of the group will need to contribute their skills.

I think i might break this whole 'event' into two different xp dishes, one for actually succeeding in all the group tests and a second rp giving after the mission. We shall see though I am eager to read how it all turns out.

Those sound good to me  But if you decide to change one then maybe we could do a completion test. Something like, complete all the mini-quests on your team's list before the other teams do or before time runs out. The mini quests would be simple things the villagers need help with, maybe five to ten of them. And they'll each give you something you need to present to the judges as proof that the quest was done well. The teams could either work together to do each one or have members split up to finish them separately and regroup afterwards. It will all be done in Brightwall or the Guild of course. How about that?

Agh! I hate when I get almost to the end of a post and I press some button sequence that refreshes the page!

So, this is going to sound nerdy as I'll get out, but regardless I think that the last competiton should be something similar to the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Basically, there's this big race where there are no rules and players attack each other to try and win. So I thought we could do something like that, basically each team enters Chillbreath Caverns. There's at least 3 entrances known in Fable 3, and the cavern is really confusing by nature. But there's an exit at the top of Mistpeak. All the groups enter seperate entrances and the first group to reach the exit wins. They don't get immunity from elimination, but every group that has won has been released thus far. They do get a medal and a reward from each department head. Other groups will also get rewards by completing other objectives. Like saving someone in a different group, stopping a fight between other groups, or finding something in Chillbreath that no-one has found thus far. Each group also has some way of communicating with the officials to call for a medic. I was thinking of something like a stone that two or more group members have to touch. The game is paused that the evac team comes in, otherwise, its every group for themselves. Also we could have that part of the rules is you only win when the remaining group members reach the top; not the individuals.

Thought that might be fun.

Very good ideas all! I think we will go with a race through the caverns below the Brightwall Library, which should take up a good two hours of game time or so, and something else. But we will do the race first so we have time to decide on the second one. Followed by group battles.

I like the mini-quest idea but I actually think they might not do that, since the heroes still at the guild probably take care of the everyday villager needs / smaller quests. The groups are formed to tackle bigger problems that alone the individual heroes might not be able to do. Good suggestion though! Please keep throwing out ideas guys and girls whenever you get them :].

Also I updated the 'map' section of the actual role-play to include descriptions of each location marked on the map.

[/slowly creeps in] Umm... hi, guys. n_n;;

I am soooo sorry for not being around. I should be on A LOT more now that life's settled down some.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still interested in the rp and would like to participate.
But I woulden't want to just jump in unnannouced, so I wanted to ask permission first.
I mean, I don't want to screw up the rp or anything by just randomly jumping in out of the blue. xP
So if you're cool with me still joining, yay. But if not, I completely understand.

Ok so the trials for the hero groups are coming up here very soon. So I wanted to bring that up to everyone's attention. We have talked about some ideas before and I am going to list out the possibilities to choose from. Anyone is welcome to offer more suggestions of they think of anything.

Also I am thinking that this could turn out to be a multi-day event because of the number of teams. Probably an event a day. I will reward a little experience after each event. Only three tests until the final groups are made and sent out into the world. What do you guys think about an event a day? After an event we could speed the travel of time up after some character interaction.

In order to contact guild healers and the like each participant will be given a small stone roughly half the size of a soda can. Using this rock they can communicate their thoughts to all rocks held by guild personal overseeing the event. Use of this communication without proper cause will result in team disqualification.

Race through Chillbreath Caverns: Teams would be tested probably four to eight at a time with the first two to four that finish accepted into the next tests. I would say it would be a race to a certain point in the cavern where a flag or something of the sort would be retrieved and brought back while fending off hallowmen and other groups to get there. I think it should be to retrieve a chest that is locked and heavy enough that two group members must carry it between them, or one beefy member could carry it by themselves. That way if they have to fight it is either set down the treasure chest and attack or haul it on out of there. Once that group's chest has made it to the end, intact, that group has finished. This means even if it comes down to someone dragging the chest out of one of the exits without any other group members to be seen that group still finishes. ((Groups will start out from different entrances reached via guild portals))

Survival in caverns under Brightwall Library: Under the Brightwall library are some caverns that contain hallowmen (essentially skeletons that are animated by some blue wisp type creature that lives there). Essentially battle hallowmen for as long as you can with your group. The total time before surrender or total exhaustion of group members, before guild leaders step in, will be compared to three other groups. The longest two times will be accepted to the next round of challenges.

Group Battles: Two groups will be put against each other in the Brightwall arena in the guild built just for this event and the victor moves on to the next step. This battle could include traps that are pre-set into the stage for a more challenging fight.

Forest of Trials: Outside of Brightwall there is a path that leads to Mistpeak valley which then splits off to snow dusted forest or a lightly forested or valley with a small lake surrounded by trees. This challenge will take place up in the mountains. In these mountains are bandits and wild animals but the area has been cleared for this challenge. This event will be mostly about gathering and interpreting clues that relate to history of Albion, the outside world, or just require some time and intelligence to figure out (don't worry you do not need to know this knowledge it is more about if the character would likely know the answer or not). At the end the groups will follow the clues to a location and retrieve a trinket that will notify those in charge of the games immediately upon touch. This will probably be a test of 4-8 groups at a time with the 2-4 best times finishing and continuing on.

Marathon: A endurance test that includes distance running, swimming, and perhaps a run in with swamps. This will start out from Brightwall at sunrise with a run to Silverpine, appropriately two hours to four hours. Followed by taking a bridge across the river and following the road towards Millfields (on this road for another 2 to 4 hours). Once in sight of the lake groups will make a B-line for it and be greeted by a Guild healer and after quick examinations swim across the the lake (an hour or two of swimming, there is a little island in the middle for those who need breaks). From there they will mount horses and gallop three to five hours to Bowerstone market. With a final march through the swamps to Bowerstone industrial more or less following the river (another 3-5 hours). This event could take two days itself the times I have calculated is 11 hours to 20 hours estimation. That is if all group members push themselves the entire time without breaks which will need to be had so it would turn out to be more like 15-25 hours or more. Perhaps just a day of rest after this event?

Also I was thinking that once the groups that do succeed at a challenge are compared to the other groups if they were in the top three of the time brackets then the each group would earn prizes for doing so well.

If people post back to this I expect a post something like this (the following are my picks):
Challenge one: Forest of Trials OR Marathon (if marathon is picked it would have to be the next day)
Challenge two: Race through Chillbreath Cavern
Challenge three: Group Battlez

Event Ideas

More to be added

I came up with another suggestion with some help.

Dungeon: A area in the caverns underneath the Brightwall Library is altered for the soul purpose of testing the groups. They must navigate an area filled with traps, monsters, and puzzles. This test would take about 2-5 hours in game with multiple teams being tested in different dungeons that are all similar but different. Times will be compared and the teams in the top half of the times will make it to the next round.

My new votes:
One: Dungeon
Two: Race through Chillbreath Caverns
Three: Group Battles

Sorry I got sick and ended up not feeling motivated to post anything. But I am feeling slightly better now. I have not heard back from Nee or MintyRey. I am going to be making a post today or tomorrow I guess. Also I am going to attempt to recruit two or three people who will be able to post once every three days or tell me otherwise.

MintyRey has not been on since almost fifteen days ago so I will leave her spot up for grabs but I will keep Nees as of right now. I am thinking a group of no more than six or seven. The group right now is looking like Me, frozen, puppet, Nee, ____, ____, ____. The way the group additions will work is upon arrival to the first challenge the new group members will be added.

I gotcha covered now its not to late! You're back in. Well keep me updated on that internet thing as much as possible. I dunno if it is a problem anymore or not.

So far it looks like this in no real order: 2 voters are still to be counted

Dungeon: 3 votes
Group battles: 3 votes
Survival: 2 votes
Forest: 1 vote
Race: 3 votes

It is still sort of up in the air as to what the challenges will be, the other two voters could tip the scales.

Soon I will have the announcer state what events will be held and in what order. This will probably be Thursday (2/3/11) which will give some time for more character interaction and to get the last two voters in.

I will be giving out a little experience after each event so that is something to look forward to :]. Everyone will be PMed their experience totals with a small explanation of how I came up with the numbers.

I will also forward everyone Adel's experience with their own character in case someone is curious (I do not want to seem like I'm giving myself more experience! :])

As it stands right now if more votes are not counted the order will be:

Dungeon, Race, Group battles

Thoughts? Suggestions? Displeased with what the turn out might be? Talk about it here and it might change :].

So now it looks like...

Dungeon: 4 votes
Group battles: 4 votes
Survival: 2 votes
Forest: 2 vote
Race: 3 votes

So the order is...

1.) Dungeon
2.) Race
3.) Group Battles

They are listed in the order they will happen. Remember nothing is set in stone but I will be announcing that order (via the announcer) with my next post anyways. So say something if you disagree with our choice and want your voice heard you might just change someone's mind :].
