If you hadn't started this, I would probably have come up with something along the same lines. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale of all time. XD

It is mine too. Everytime I find a book that is a re-telling I buy it.
Shoot last month when Disney re-released it I was at Walmart the first day waiting for it. I was that sad creepy woman that squeeled and shouted "Finally! I have the greatest movie of all time. Hahahaha."
Yep, I scared many kids that day. lol

Anyways, I've been thinking about it for awhile. I didn't want something that would be exactly like the story. I wanted more characters because knowing who the prince would fall for would be boring. But most importantly I did not want to be the prince. I am very happy with our prince. *nods*

I actually have a Russian or Polish version somewhere. It's called Ladna et la Bête and is very nice. It has a dragon in it an evil sorcerer, a good enchantress and everything! Yes, I think our prince is doing a very good job. XD Wonder how he'll reach to someone actually admiring part of his beastly form? lol

Have you ever read The Last Unicorn? It's not a fairy tale, but it's one of my other favorite movies from when I was a kid.

That sounds really interesting.

I know. I can't wait to see the reaction to all the people. ^^

I haven't. I had the book and was going to read it but at some point it disappeared. lol

O ..You should really find it! Have you seen the movie though? And if you ever do read the book and like it you should read Tamsin by Peter.S Beagle also.

Tamora Pierce is a marvelous young adult fantasy author. Robin McKinley's Beauty and Rose Duaghter are both retellings of Beauty and the Beast. Mercedes Lackey's Five hundred Kingdoms series are all based on fairy tales. They're amazingly good twists. XD

Read and own all of those. lol
I have all of Tamora Pierce's books and most of Mercedes Lackey. I've read most of Robin McKinley's books and own a few of them. I only own one of her two Beauty and the Beast retellings though I've read them both.

I own nearly all of Tamora Pierce's books! She's one of my favorite authors.

Have you read anythign by Diana Wynne Jones, or Piers Anthony? They both have different styles, but definitely worth the read in my opinion anyway.

She is one of mine too. I think Mercedes Lackey is my favorite though.

I have read some of Diana Wynne Jones's books. Castle in the Air, Dark Lord of Derkholm, Year of the Griffin, Charmed Life, The Lives of Christopher Chant, and Howl's Moving Castle.

I haven't read any of Piers Anthony's books though. Which one would you suggest?

The Incarnations series is really good. It's less out there then his other stuff like The Nightmare , tough that's the book that got me started with liking him. For the series I mentioned, it doesn't matter which one you read first, they're all stand alone books, but the characters meet and interact with each other in all of them.

They're about normal people who become Incarnations of Nature, Time , Death, War, the Fates, he kind of pulls from a whole bunch of different mythologies. XD It's really cool.

Adult, definitely adult! lol XD It's almost a satire, but it isn't at the same time. Anthony likes taking things to the extreme and making them completely his own. In his Xanth novels he's always using a play on words. Like nightmares are delivered by Night Mares.

Then you'll devour his books. XD Have you read any Anne McCaffrey? I know she writes Sci Fi, but I still like her books quite a lot.

I think I started reading one of her dragonriders book then stopped when I realized it wasn't the first in the series and they didn't own the first.
I'll have to look into her again.
