Hm, well my first advice would be to look at various designs online though either google or deviantART, dA is better for the steampunk stuff. Pay attention to how the clothing interacts with the shape of the body and the way each fabric type hangs/folds/clings.

victorian style is awesome and so is steam punk *nods* I wouldn't have minded giving one of my characters a steam punky dress >.>... the only one it'd suit is Estella though xD

I'm okay enough to make what it's suppose to be clear, still need to improve particularly coloring and shading >.< I suuuuck at those, but I take toooo long so don't tend to draw my characters ^.^'' I need to figure out a way to get faster...

@cameo: Your arts cute too ^.^ I particularly like your curves on your women. I like women being drawn with curves. Some people seem to draw only the extremes >.< flat as a board or cartoony/twice as big as there head...each or fat/ball shaped. I suppose i cant say too much about the second though. My women tend to be big busted >.>... i blame my own irl build for that. It just looks more in proportion to me, because my only model half the time for that kinda thing is me.
edit: Originally yeah xD. Then again originally she was also a half elf, half human. >.>... i just thought that was kinda funny xD. I almost always made my elves have light hair white/pale blue-white/pale almost white blond/etc. I just associate elves with having light hair. If I make her mother a moon elf i'll probably change her hair to blue or black though xD. |
I adore drawing Victorian clothing ^^ If tinypic hadn't of deleted them, I would have shown you a few I did last year for another RP. Hm... I could link my dA as well, but I have a lot of bloody/grotesque stuff mixed in with my fashion designs XD just a warning.
Pap-chan: Google is so-so for that, you just have to put in the right key words. There are plenty of sites for Victorian and Edwardian periods though, and a few decent ones for Chinese and Japanese, though they are mostly just images. Oh, before I forget again, I love the outfit your Avi has, it's one of my favorites so far. Codette: I love the eye shapes you use ^^ they're simple but cute and expressive. |

Ria- Aww thanks! I try to make the proportions realistic, and now I'll be trying to see how well I can vary the shapes and such so I can get a few different body types. I'm still angry we didn't get any male models in drawing class. ><
