Cat: Yea, I know, his change kind of makes me sad as well, but we needed a judge that wasn't so easily swayed and willing to tell the queen if any rules were broken. The mysterious prince charming that Illana knew is still in there though, I promise, I think I'm just playing an older, more world-wise version of him.

Well, it has decent logical founding. Someone in love is much more likely to empathize with others in love, therefore would be more inclined to be lax about the pressure and fear behind the tests both subconsciously and consciously. It's not like the Queen is just cold-hearted and doesn't trust her Judges (though I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't fully trust Heiro, not many people he works for do). Though of course to someone more sentimental or in love the oath would seem harsh and pointless.

The Queen only trusts Uriel fully, and that's only because she bound him to her family and saw him raised in the way of her court. She wasn't always so cold.

Yes but the oath can't actually stop them from falling in love, anymore then they can stop themselves. It just makes them unable to express it. I understand the logic to not wanting them to love, It's the logic that they can control their heart i find faulty xD. Plenty of people have fallen in love when they didn't want to/were afraid to... even with people they didn't love/thought were terrible. *shrug*
