Hai, and I have gotten my submissions for the food competition up. ^^

Very interesting and helpful assets already, Asca. He would be able to pick up on things others will not.

Drakina 02-23-2013 12:57 AM

So he'd probably be able to hear something before it registers for other people. That can be very useful.

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 01:04 AM

Food entries are up? Hmm, I think I'll go visit that thread now.

---------- Post added 02-22-2013 at 09:13 PM ----------

All the photos are beautiful, and really get the message across.

If I ever had a choice of tasting one of the three, I'd probably go for the Boardwalk Sunset for Two, seems like something I'd like.

---------- Post added 02-22-2013 at 09:15 PM ----------

The second, Hot-Blooded Mary I might actually like, now that I think about it... I've never tasted blood orange though, and the pepper, is that really spicy? Or just a nice kind if little kick? hmm

KageShio 02-23-2013 01:18 AM

I figured that would be more to your tastes. It is usually way too sweet for me, so I make a version with a lot more lemon and just a tiny bit of grenadine. It does not look as pretty, but tastes just as good. Out of these three though, my favorite was the whiskey sour, it turned out fantastic. The only disappointment was that there was only one. *smiles* Oh, and I am glad you like the photos as well, we spent a long time on them all.

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 01:22 AM

Well, like I said, I'd give the Hot-Blooded Mary a try too. I usually like vodka coolers and watermelons, and tomato juice ... *shrug*haha I figured the one with the whiskey would be your pick. It shows that you two spent quite some time on the pictures.

KageShio 02-23-2013 01:31 AM

my computer did not show me that part of your post until just now, sorry. Blood oranges taste pretty much like regular oranges, but richer in flavour and usually sweeter. As for the peppers... well, it depends on your heat tolerance. Cayenne is right about in the middle of the scoville scale as far as heat goes, and they are just a pleasant kick to me, but Mimi cannot even smell them without having her eyes water. So the drink I made for the photos had a good balance for me, but she could not even think to try it.

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 01:34 AM

I'd probably have a reaction between yours and Mimi's, haha.

Drakina 02-23-2013 01:35 AM

I would try it, but probably need something to cool my mouth afterwords...

KageShio 02-23-2013 01:36 AM

Well, the drink can also be altered to have more or less pepper depending on personal tastes.

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 01:37 AM

Like milk, Draki? lol

Hmm, you'll have to make it for me some time. *laughs a little*

Drakina 02-23-2013 01:39 AM

Yes. Like milk. Or ice cream... Mmmm...

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 01:40 AM

You're on an ice cream kick, aren't you?

Ascadellia 02-23-2013 01:41 AM

Aaaalright. Here it is. XD
Anything needs to be fixed or altered? >.<; This alright? :P

UserName: Ascadellia
Name: Mason C.I Faber
Age: 22
Ancestry: His ancestor was a taniwha that'd taken a liking to a tribe that had settled a few miles away from her river. The tribe always paid their respects to her, and gave offerings whenever. As a result, she was fiercely protective of the tribe. She usually stayed in her river, protecting the men during any journeys to the sea, but it wasn't rare when she took it upon herself to help destroy any threat to the tribe. At times, she would travel to the tribe by foot. She was respected and feared by many. The tribe that was under her guardianship took great pains to make sure she was pleased.

Heirloom: A ring carved from onyx given to her by a lover. She had grown particularly fond of the male, but somehow, they never really 'sealed the deal'. They had their romances in secret since their relationship would only cause a disturbance. Their lifespans were too different, however. Once he passed away to old age, she had only the ring to remind her of what they once shared. His ring has been passed down from generation to generation. Over time, the once rough texture of the ring has been smoothed down, giving it a more modern feel to it. As time passed, it had acquired a few engravings. He was just told it was to 'make the ring look pretty'. A few generations before Mason was born, it was thought to be a sort of protective charm, given to the first born son as a blessing.
Appearance: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...daly/Mason.jpg

Skills/talents: Since he is blind, he has a better sense of hearing than most. This means he's able to get a better feel of where people are. He's very good with his hands, as he tries to get a feel for everything in order to better acquaint himself with others. So, sculpting and pottery are things he is decent at. He loves swimming. Ever since he was little, he adored being in the water. He does know a bit of folklore, since he enjoys reading about them and listening about the different kinds of legends there were.

Personality: A friendly and easy-going man, he's not too hard to get along with. Since he is unable to see, he can get jittery if there is no sound. It makes him feel uneasy and alone. Normally act like anyone else, he could blend in, if he had the chance. Hating when his disability is pointed out since he normally wants to be treated like any other person, he tries to not let it hinder him.

History: His parents are the kind of people you see typically see in magazines, or in T.V shows about how 'wholesome' and 'functional' the family is. They strive to be perfect and to be the cookie-cutter family. They almost had that with Mason. Except there was one, tiny little miscalculation. Something they hadn't taken into account. Their son's blindness. Naturally, they were crushed upon seeing their picture perfect life crumble. Still, they couldn't hate him. If anything, it just was just something to overcome.

They just made sure to hold him to higher standards once the boy became 15. They shipped him off to a private school overseas. If he managed to excel in his academics despite his defect, then he would be accepted back home with open arms. He didn't fail them, but he also didn't surpass their expectations. He had his bad subjects, and his good ones. There were plenty of things he just couldn't do, but he managed to find loopholes and work around things.

As of now, he's managed to appear almost normal. One could almost think he was a seeing person, due to his sharp hearing. He prefers it this way. Mason decided not to return home after high school ended and get into college, to figure out what he wants to do with himself. His parents, while disappointed, figured it was 'for the best'. Truthfully, he hates being around large cities. He prefers being around bodies of water. They make him feel at peace.

KageShio 02-23-2013 01:55 AM

Starch works much better than dairy, actually, as does cucumber.

Asca: It looks pretty good, but I would like it if you could work on his skills a bit more. Even with being blind, I doubt sculpting is his only interest, ne? Also, perhaps a bit more information on how the ring changed or had an impact on the ancestor's life would be nice.

Ascadellia 02-23-2013 01:58 AM

Sure thing~ *goes to work on it a bit more*

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 02:01 AM

Starch works better, and cucumber? I had no idea ...

KageShio 02-23-2013 02:03 AM

Arigatou. *smiles* I cannot wait to get this started up.

Pap-chan: Hai, cucmber is used in poultices for burns and such as well. It cools, soothes and hydrates.

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 02:06 AM

That's an interesting little fact, I'll have to remember that. Might have to try that next time my sister accidentally burns herself on a pan or something, lol

KageShio 02-23-2013 02:10 AM

It works wonders, especially if the cucumber has been chilled. I also mix in fresh aloe sap, though I have heard yogurt works well too.

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 02:12 AM

We actually have yogurt ... Cucumbers, not so much, though we used to.

KageShio 02-23-2013 02:15 AM

Ah, well just make sure it is plain yogurt, if you use it- you don't want sugar all over those fresh wounds. Ugh*shudders a little* It's almost as bad as salt!

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 02:19 AM

We don't have plain yogurt. >< *tilts head* Speaking from experience?

KageShio 02-23-2013 02:27 AM

Well, thankfully both yogurt and cucumber tend to be inexpensive- at least, as far as I know. *smiles* And yes, I am, though it was not yogurt.

Sorry for such short notice, but I am going to be late for work if I do not head out now. Sayounara, minna-san!

PapillonCameo 02-23-2013 02:38 AM

Goodnight Kage, I hope your shift goes well, and that you sleep peacefully.

Drakina 02-23-2013 02:39 AM

>.< I'm getting off, too. My eyes are starting to hurt, and I'd rather not get a headache.
