You've been marked by a tracker which means you've been chosen by Nyx, our goddess. You will go through the Change and turn into a vampire. However, if your body rejects the Change, you die.When you are Marked, you must leave your home and move into the House of Night school, where you will take your place as a fledgling and live for four years.You can never be far from an adult Vampire for long. And it’s not like you’ll turn into a pumpkin. It’s a much bigger deal than that. You die. Slowly and painfully.
If you ever leave school grounds, you cannot wear any part of your uniform--which is primarily basic black-- and must conceal all tattoo markings. Good luck young fledgling. Merry meet and merry meet again.

Avril's father left her, her mother, and Alice--her half sister-- when she was only two. Only about a month or so later, Avril's mother had found a substitute, Kenny. He was only seventeen and her mother twenty-two at the time. As soon as Avril had turned eight and Alice ten, Avril's mother would constantly leave the two home alone while she went out on dates with Kenny. At first, Kenny came over to visit only a few a week acting rather pleasantly in front of the two young girls. But soon he started showing up more and more often until eventually he had moved himself into Avril's broken families' life completely. Avril was about eleven when Kenny wriggled his way into their apartment and set up camp. Kenny and Avril's mother had a nasty habit of getting into fights. At first it was only yelling and slamming doors. But then Alice and Avril started being woken up in the middle of the night, wretched out of sleep by the sound of their mother being slammed into a wall or repeatedly hit. Avril's mother begged Avril and Alice to keep quiet about the matter and stay in their rooms when he was around. Kenny ended up getting Avril's mother pregnant about the time Avril turned thirteen. In an act of rage, Kenny punched Avril's mother in the stomach in an attempt to kill the child, and turned to leave. Tired of cowering in the shadows, Avril ran after Kenny and hit him over the head with a baseball bat, knocking him unconscious. Avril instructed her mother to pack only what she absolutely needed and leave. Managing to make it as far as Tulsa Arizona, Avril's mother, Alice, and Avril rented a small studio apartment. Avril's mother had a miscarriage, losing the baby. Alice was hit by a car when she was sixteen, and Avril fourteen. Avril vowed to keep her mother safe and take care of her no matter what. When Avril turned fifteen, Kenny found her and her mother. At sixteen a tracker from the house of night found her and marked her. Fyre was born into an upper middle-class family in Ashe-ville, North Carolina. She had both of her parents who were well-known in the community with well-paying jobs, two older sisters, one older brother, and two younger siblings who were twins (One male, the other female). Everything was going great for her. She had gotten accepted into one of the top music schools in the country, had all the friends she could ever want, got along well with her family, and she had pretty much anything she could ever want. Then she got marked. Everything changed after that. She was forced to give up her music school to attend House of Night, her friends cast her aside like she had never existed, and none of her family bothered to visit her or make any sort of contact despite her writing letters each week. Fyre's personality completely changed. She was no longer that bubbly, out-going person she used to be. Instead she keeps mostly to herself, sticking to her music when she feels extra lonely. literature -- you'll often find Sterling with a cup of earl grey and a novel.
partying -- who doesn't like to party?
sailing -- his parents often took him sailing, and he loves the feel of the wind against his face. not to mention, the view of the city from the ocean is breathtaking.

Affinity~ Earth Short Bio~
Sterling Rhys Vanderbilt was born into one of America's most prestigious families, the Vanderbilt family. Naturally, this meant that he was pushed to go to the best schools (for his mother insisted, she would not sit well otherwise) and mingle with the elite. Growing up as the older brother to a younger sister, he felt protective of her and always made sure that she was making the right life choices (which she found quite annoying). Sterling is also a bit of a player, and often messes around with girls.
Everything was going fine for the heir to the Vanderbilt fortune, until the fire nation attacked he was marked. He went to the House of Night to be more educated in what he had become, but the fact that his family was in the public's attention caused a few problems. Firstly, a bunch of girls at the House of Night follow Sterling around all day all the time, claiming to be his biggest fans. It's annoying, and he's lucky to have a few minutes to himself. The only time they go away is when he's with his friends, the more "popular" or "elite" of the House of Night. While Sterling was at the school, the human public and media thought his disappearance was suspicious. They payed too much attention to the fact that Sterling Rhys Vanderbilt had suddenly dropped out of private school to be "home-schooled" for no other reason than his parents wanted him to. Because of this, Sterling is often bombarded by paparazzi when he exits the school grounds, asking him what he's doing and what's going on in his life. Picture Prior to Change~

When he was 3 his father quit his job to watch the kids and started to home school them when they learned that Garion learned differently from others. On his first day of preschool he knew more then everyone else and was reading at a fifth grade level, but when the teachers tried to make him do anything he lashed out making his parents keep him home. They lived in a middle suburbia house, white picket fences and all that, but he was rarely there, instead he always went off to the woods near by at the end of the cul de sac. His father always tried to do his best with him, renting him books from the library often, and also allowing him to teach himself about things that interested him rather then the normal curriculum. When he was 6 he started learning Jeet Kune do, after watching a Bruce Lee film on tv and he developed quickly in the martial arts on his own time. When he was 12 his mother left his father, saying that he was not holding his own even though she was never home and she pushed for him to stay home, so they moved to a smaller home in the country where his dad could work at a local gas station. Garion had to start going to school again, though he never actually went to school, and his dad didn't enforce it. so instead he just went to the library to teach himself spending almost all his day there only going home for dinner. The day he was marked he was sitting in the library, when he fell asleep in a back corner, the librarian didn't notice him, so they locked up locking him in, and that night he was marked while he slept there in the library. When he woke up and realized what had happened he had to tell his dad, who was actually happy hoping that they could help Garion learn his own way. He reluctantly made his way to the House of Night where he is now a Third Former, actually skipping a technical grade to enter the school. Lynette, or Rose as she prefers to be called by her friends, grew up in a lower middle-class family. Her parents and her lived with her mother's parents all of her life. For the most part she was close to her grandparents and her parents and was her dad's little girl. There were times when her mother and her didn't get along and truthfully never had an extremely close relationship. She had a few friends, but didn't have any real close friends ones. Of course she preferred it that way. She tries not to let people get too close because it just causes problems anyway. Besides who would want to be try trusting people when you’ve been called evil and other things before? Personally she really doesn’t care how others see her. If they can’t accept her for who she is then that was their problem. She isn't about to pretend to be someone that she not just to get them to accept her. Plus she was less likely to be hurt again like she was when she was younger. No one will ever know her secret unless she deems them trustworthy enough to know. Her parents don't even know the secret she's been hiding since she was eleven.
Everything really seemed to be going alright with her family for a change. Her father had recently gotten a better paying job. She was doing well in school and doing what she wanted. Things were even going so well that one of her childhood friends and here were working on plans for a online game based off one of their favorite animes and she was also working on a fanfic for that anime as well. Things really were looking up until she was marked. Now she has found herself on a new path that has lead her to the House of Night where she is a Third Former. Maybe it was best that she left to go to the House of Night because even with things looking up her mother and her were getting into more fights and disagreements. Picture Prior to Change~

Loves working on things and figuring things out to help people. Laughing and not being serious. Fast Techno!!! Dislikes~ Liars, back stabbers and fake people. He also hates anything maple flavored but will eat most anything else. Affinity~ Water Short Bio~ Jules came from a really bad living situation and has pretty severe ADHD. This made him a very very outgoing and flamboyant kid but also caused him to get into trouble and have horrible grades. He likes to do more then think the more hands one the better but gets bored easily even with hands on tasks. Jullian can literally be talking to you and suddenly take off on a dead run to try and catch a butterfly and then come back and completely forget what you were talking about or what just happened.. his ADHD take control over most of him. Yet when he is truly focused and his heart is into something his drive and persistence can be frightening. It isn't uncommon for him to stay up for days on end and not eat to finish a project he is really into. Loving to laugh and be happy he tends to drift toward people, the more he can be around the happier he is, he thrives on chaos but hates drama. The third formers’ symbol is embroidered in silver in the shape
of a spiral that glitters in a delicate circle. The symbol – the silver
labyrinth of the Goddess Nyx – stands for a new beginning for the third
formers as they walk the Path of Night and learn the ways of the Goddess.
The golden wings of Eros are the fourth formers’ symbol. Eros – the
love god – is the child of Nyx’s seed. The symbol reminds
the fourth formers of Nyx’s capacity to love and also represents
the students’ continuous movement forward.
The fifth former emblem represents Nyx’s golden chariot
pulling a trail of stars. The chariot illustrates the fifth
formers’ continuation of Nyx’s journey. The stars represent
the magic of a fledgling’s first two years at the House of Night.
The sixth formers’ symbol is an embroidered silver silhouette
of the three Fates, the children of Nyx. The sixth formers all
wear the emblem of the Fates, the goddesses of destiny. The scissors
signify the end or break of the formers’ time at the House of Night
The professors’ symbol is the silver embroidered image of Nyx
with her arms upraised and her hands cupping a crescent moon.

After-school activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

HON Media Centers are open at al times. We encourage our fledgeling to take full advantage of this, and indulge in any and all literacy pursutes.
HON Computer Centers are state of the art and we are currently in the process of installing 3-D studios as well as individual room monitors for out students. Laptops are available for use on and off campus.
Entertainment: All dorms have wide-screen televisions, each fully equipped with high-end technology for the transmission and enjoyment of movies and video games. We have found no need to restrict these options, as most fledglings find out curriculum so engrossing, they have little interest for passive pastimes.

HOUSE RULES

Rule #1:
If you’ve been Marked by a Tracker, night has chosen thee. You will go through the Change and turn into a vampyre. However, if your body rejects the Change, you die.
Rule #2:
If you are Marked, you must leave your home and move into the House of Night school, where you will take your place as a fledgling and live for four years.
Rule #3:
At the House of Night School, classes begin at 8pm and end at 3am. The gym is open until dawn.
Rule #4:
You can never be far from an adult Vampyre for long. And it’s not like you’ll turn into a pumpkin. It’s a much bigger deal than that.
Rule #5:
Formal rituals are held at Nyx’s Temple twice a week. At the ceremony’s commencement, turn to the east, south, west and north to summon (in order) air, fire, water and earth.
Rule #6:
If one of the cats at the school chooses you, you will belong to him or her. Not the other way around.
Rule #7:
Every High Priestess is given an affinity, or special powers, by the Goddess.
Rule #8:
If you ever leave school grounds, you cannot wear any part of your uniform (which is primarily basic black) and must conceal all tattoo markings.
Rule #9:
Here at the House of Night school, there are no lockers. You will have cabinets in your homeroom. If someone steals something, the vamps will know it. As will Nyx.

The Dark Daughters and Sons is the House of Night’s premier fledgling organization. Its members are the best and brightest of our school and set the standard for the other fledglings. The Leader of the Dark Daughters is chosen because Nyx has gifted her with extraordinary powers. This young woman is considered a High Priestess in Training and has the added responsibility of both performing monthly rituals dedicated to Nyx and leading the fledgling members in the rituals. The Leader of the Dark Daughters is mentored by the High Priestess of the House of Night, who takes special interest in her development. Membership in the Dark Daughters and Sons is by exclusive invitation only. The symbol for the Dark Daughters is the traditional symbol for the Triple Goddess: two crescent moons back-to-back against a full moon. The Leader of the Dark Daughters wears a silver pendant with the symbol, a full moon encrusted with garnets.
Nyx

Although Nyx is the embodiment of Night in a literal divine personification, she is actually very similar to what people typically consider the Earth Goddess, Gaia. Nyx is found everywhere, she is most powerful at night, which is why her special children have always been vampyres. Since ancient times, vampyres have honored Nyx by living in a matriarchal society where women rule, but men are honored and respected for their roles as guardians and companions. Nyx ensouls the earth – filling rocks, trees, rivers and mountains with her spirit. She is known by many names including Changing Woman, Gaea, A’akuluujjusi, Kuan Yin, Grandmother Spider and even Dawn. Often she gifts individual fledglings and vampyres with special powers. Those so gifted are also given the additional responsibility of becoming leaders among their kind such as High Priestesses or Warriors. Nyx is a benevolent Goddess. She is not jealous or vindictive, but she does not tolerate liars and her path is not always an easy one to tread. So, choose wisely…

Yes when i remove the spaces it works! woot :P ok i might wait to send in mine since i actually have never read house of night ot see what other characters are like so that i get a good idea of what they like :P
I'm going to be needing everyone's bios here shortly.
The House of Night courses will be commencing in about three weeks.

I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of the first book of the House of Night series so I'll just kind of wing it after I look at some of the other character profiles.

It's absolultly okay to have both a student and professor character, but you're not required. ^-^
