So, they don't know each other at all. The images appear on their skin when they're together. There's definitely a purpose for that... but what!

Maybe there's a war going on. The dark beings want to attack the human world and the light beings need assistance.

Right! Okay, so what we got so far is:

Opposite-soul mates are destined to meet. When they do, the sun/moon marks appear, making them known to the various supernatural forces and the forces to them. They realise there's a war going on and each side wants to 'claim' them for their own. Choices and decisions need to be made. Am I right?
