If it helps, Seri, the roguish type would be more likely to be familiar with the island of Arynn. Slavery's illegal there, although that's not true on some of the neighboring islands, so it would be very easy to be a former slave if you like that idea better.

As far as feel/tone goes... there are likely going to be some serious moments, but I personally feel that serious and silly should be fairly well balanced. I personally get a lot more enjoyment out of a serious book if it has moments of humor, and vice versa. Some of the enemy NPCs I have are a bit ridiculous, and some are pretty serious, and so far it looks like the players kind of reflect that mix. I... don't know if that helps at all, to be honest. I guess if I'm trying to place this on a seriousness spectrum with Fyodor Dostoyevsky as 10 and Terry Pratchett as 1, I'm looking at about a 4?
