Yes, that's right. Please forgive me if I break a lot of rules, but I've been crying crazily since I found out last night, and I'm desperate to see if finding a new RP partner might help me cope a bit.
See, she wasn't just my RP partner, she was also my very good friend, and over the past decade or so we've literally written thousands and thousands of pages of rping in any number of worlds with any number of characters, who are all magnificently and horrifically entwined and shaped by each other. Our characters are/were friends, lovers, family, enemies, etc. with each other, and the thought of all her characters ceasing to exist along with her just kills me.
So please, if you have any interest in the following, PLEASE email me (
[email protected]) or AIM me (ceridwen roth) with a sample of your writing. If it sounds like we might have meshing styles, I'll be sure to write you back in turn. My most preferred method of RP is to do it live via IM, aka AIM, and usually it's a paragraph or two a post--or longer, if the situation calls. Feel free to take 5-20 minutes per post, though if it takes you a half hour to write two paragraphs, we probably won't mesh well.
Okay, so, the problem:
I can't help it, I'm a grammar nazi, and more than that, I just can't have fun if the person only writes the most basic of posts, i.e. "Sam walked in. He said, 'hi, my name is Sam.' He bought a drink and sat down. It tasted bad." etc. You think I'm exaggerating, but apart from my now-deceased RP partner, that's pretty much the only kind of partner I could find.
Also, I only play in totally original worlds. Sorry, I tried playing in other series long ago, but it was too restricting. I'll borrow elements from other stories all the time, no problem, but it's no fun if I limit it to just that. I bounce around a lot, to sort of "day after tomorrow" scifi, Renaissance, Medieval, etc., but always with at least a little bit of fantasy or scifi in it.
I like boy love. Sorry. I mean, really like it. And hetero, don't get me wrong. I just love the delicious challenge of forbidden love and all that.
Also, I'm an adult, I play adult characters, who do adult things. If you're easily offended by swearing or violence, sorry, but some of my characters are like that. I don't have a propensity for violence--that was Angel's forte--but sometimes it does happen. Adds spice and challenge, after all, what's fun about a story if it's smooth sailing the whole way?
As for my writing, well, there's no way to say this without sounding conceited, but I think it's pretty top-notch for what you'll find online. Yeah when I'm tired and feeling lazy I use too many adjectives, but I do try to be alive and engaging in my writing, and my characters all certainly have lives of their own. Please share the same love of words and writing, or it's no fun.
There're only a few things I won't play:
Straight up furries. This means actual animal muzzles, udders, etc. Not just ears and a tail. Inuyasha level--cute! Disney's Robin Hood--um, not, not IMHO. Sorry. And no incest or extreme shota/loli (no five year old kids doing it with adults plz).
There're probably more caveats that'll come up later, but those are the major ones I can think of. Sorry, I know I'm a stickler, but I know from experience that I can't have fun with anything less. And I'm sorry if I depressed anyone. I'm just so miserable right now and desperate to find a new RP partner, though of course no one can ever really replace Angel.
