If you want we can co-GM the game and sort of do an every other 'chapter" sort of thing. Each mission after the training could be a new chapter/segment of the game.
Anyway- do you have anyone in mind you would like to join? I don't really have anyone in mind yet. You can invite anyone you like, I'm pretty easy going like that. Which position in the unit would you like to play? I can play whatever. When we have four people lined up, I'll start a topic in the private section. Until then we can sketch out characters if you like. Also if you have any NPCs in mind you'd like, we can make those as well. |

As for my character, and if it fits of course, I think I could sink my teeth into pilot with an affinity for studying cultures. :3 Quote:
Would it be more your style to discuss this in PMs? *just read your signature* |
Ah! My dear Fairy, after reading your opening post, I must say that I was drooling just a tad.
The character I'm currently most interested in finding a playmate for might qualify as a 'mute character' in the beginning, though not to the extent at which you mentioned. Once you can get him to talk, he's less likely to stay quiet. He's an assassin, though I've yet to discover if he's human or not. I don't really have much of a 'world' setting, other than to say perhaps a modern and yet old-fashioned type world? That is to say, old and and modern technologies existing and being used in the same world, and a mixture of old and new fashions being worn without it being called 'cosplaying' and such. I'm not making a very good pitch at the moment, I realize this. It's been a while since I've actually pursued other roleplayers in this forum. If you're at all interested to hear more about my idea or you'd like to roleplay with me, please feel free to PM me or to respond in my roleplay request thread, as I might very well forget to come back and check this thread. I hope you understand, but I have far too many subscribed threads as it is. ^^;; |
It's be easier for me if we did. xD
|
Hmm. I suppose I close down this thread now? Or do we discuss here, Moxie?
*Puts on her novice hat and sits quietly.* :) |
Hello again. I posted the other day (and wound up subscribing to this thread anyways so I wouldn't forget to check).
I was wondering if you by any chance read my post to you? :3 Or were you only looking for a single roleplay partner? |
Well, I don't mind discussing more game stuff here, or we can make another thread, but it seems wasteful to me. How about we flesh out some details, then make an OOC thread?
What were some of the things you had in mind? I was thinking there would be multiple units all competing for the same slot on the experimental vessel. Thus strife would arise as the units compete with one another to show that they are the best. At least for the first portion of the story. Maybe even if we lose a player along the way, he can be replaced by the member of another unit. What four positions do you see a small crew needing? Also, maybe we should flush out what sort of experiments the doctor's at the facility are doing. I was thinking about calling the facility Terran Training Facility #9. Nice and vague and mysterious. (We could also call the game that as well or maybe just TGU. I hadn't really thought about what to call the actual game. |
Insane Cricket:
Eep! I didn't see it, but I have now! D: That Modern-but-not-Modernish world... do you mean steam punk-ish? Or like Batman's Gotham? ...or something more fantastic like Medieval-Meets-Metropolis...like? I'm already doing something steam punk on MSN and I mix RP worlds way too easily without being checked, so I'd rather like to avoid having that happen. Otherwise you have my attention! (And sorry about not seeing your post! Eek!) Moxie: Yeah, making a new thread to discuss something we'd otherwise do in here is pointless. Let's not muck up the forums with any more threads than we need to. (I'm sure they'll be appreciative of that.) The competing unit plot is rather fun! Should those who make up the other groups be peers they've known their entire lives? Would our characters know one another previous to being set in the group? I would prefer that they did not, but at the same time some previous conflict would make for some interesting events... so a mix, then? Maybe? Hmm. If there is a chance that the cadets could be paired with someone they know, then it would make sense that there is a chance for each cadet to know members of the other groups. If that's the case I think it'd be worth the ability of the cadets to encounter the other groups' members outside of a formal/scholar/competition setting purely for the chance of attitudes clashing and action! Woohoo! The four basic positions for this kind of group I first think of would be: pilot, medic, grease monkey, and a science officer. As for the game name, heh, I tend to be very short sighted when it comes to naming RPs or comics or what have you, but I prefer the abbreviations simply for the crisp, space-age feel it conjures. ...And all good space abbreviations have numbers! TTF-9? But after some point we're going to be leaving the training facility (I like Terran Training Facility 9, by the way. I agree about the mysteriousness and duly enjoy it.) Maybe we could call it "TGU (numbers/letters signifying class of ship): (ship name)"? Then again there are so many Sci-Fi things named after the ships that they're based around, I'd kind of hate to rip that. For tests, each role should have specialized and general tests on them. Clearly competency in space science, physics and math should be included in the general exams along with very basic level skills of the other three roles, but medics shouldn't have to be able to take apart an engine and reassemble it... and pilots probably won't have to transplant a lung or determine the density of an alien surface by use of a remote prob or what have you. As for the specifics of the tests I'll have to spend another night to think up something for each... that is if we're agreed that these are the kinds of roles which are suitable for the TTF9'ers. |
Like Batman's Gotham kinda old fashioned and yet modern kinda world. I do love steampunk, but no, I was talking about a world more like Gotham.

Oooor in your RP request thread which you mentioned earlier? |
Well, if you're still online (sorry, I was roleplaying and not checking thread subscriptions on here) I can PM you my MSN address if you'd like and we can talk on there.
|
Moxie:
Okay! So my idea of training takes a very hands-on form. How do these sound?
Cricket: It seems that I keep missing you on MSN. I'll keep trying! |
Have you added me to MSN? I never got the notice. Maybe you put my email in wrong? I'm on MSN right now. I'm always on MSN when I'm online.
How about you PM me your MSN so I can add it to mine? |
Actually, I was thinking the people were already chosen because they are among the best in their fields. They would get group training and then group simulations on running the specific ship/mission training etc. (They would have already gone through training in their field at other official TGU installations and they were picked because they were the best.)
Yeah, they would get additional training- but it would be very specific to their missions, mostly there is the experimentation and competition to see who really is the best and desearves the assignment. The medic would have to have other skills appropriate to the mission- maybe also a leadership role or a gunman type role as well- or it could be the science officer who doubles in the position. I was also thinking that the unit of four would have to crosstrain- and that would be where the real test would lay. "Sure, you can pilot the ship, but if your engineer gets killed, can you fix it too? Oh- you can fix ships? Can you identify edible fungi on alien worlds?" But I agree- all the testing would be very hands on. Each simulation designed to test something new and juggle people about their normal routine. |
Moxie:
...Well that makes a lot more sense than what I first read into your proposal. (After reading it again, I'm not exactly sure how I came to my original assumption, unless I skipped several lines...) So yes! Already chosen..! So we're looking at developing group trials... Ehh... I can foresee rescue missions, science missions in hostile environments (both due to inhabitants and conditions) or perhaps some kind of infection scenario? We can have our motley crew of RPers come up with some ideas in an OOC thread if they come up with something exciting. AND TO EVERYBODY ELSE WHO HAS RESPONDED ALREADY AND HAVE BEEN LEFT HANGING: I'm sorry guys! I had tunnel vision there. Out of your suggestions I'm interested in hearing more from The Cheshire Cat and Asahi Kumoru. (I finally got SG Atlantis Season 1, so I'll find out who those wraith are! Woohoo!) |
