The King is male... and your character is female.
It's just the evil mastermind behind your character being there that is also female. The enchantress and human won't have a romantic relationship.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough on that.

Hmmm..... Sure, why not? Maybe she could wake up and find out that she has angel wings.

What if she knows she's enchanted but she can't tell anyone about it? Like if she tried to write it in a letter she couldn't and she can't tell the truth to anyone...

Yeah!!! But she can actually show her wings, right?

Everyone would see her wings... they would know her as an angel. She couldn't show them herself without her wings... as a human.

He's young (twenty maybe) ... and he stepped up to the throne with the help of the enchantress...

Hmmm...... I did think of something.... Maybe she could meet him at first and not realize he was a king until later on? :? OR they could meet at a masquerade ball, and she dances with him before having to leave to talk to the enchantress? Then she's running all over town trying to find him, and maybe just when she's about to give up, she bumps into him?

Hmm... maybe we can save the masque for another point in the story. I think they should meet in the castle but he won't tell her who he is because he is amused that she doesn't know.
