So...I had a Final Fantasy VIII RP thread that I wanted to launch, and it never picked up because apparently the person playing Squall hasn't posted in the entire site since December 30, and hasn't logged in since February 15.

Preface
After the events that transpired at Ultimecia’s castle during Time Compression, the world was restored back to its normalcy, with no threat attempting to take over the world for quite a while. Balamb Garden settled back in its rightful place on the small island, and everything seemed to be going well…
Rinoa Heartilly and Squall Leonhart, from the outside, seemed to be the most perfect couple in existence within Garden. The Commander and the Princess. It should have ended like a fairy tale. But as everyone knows, fairy tales don’t happen in real life.
Because of her inherited Sorceress powers from Ultimecia’s essence, it was revealed that Rinoa was too weak to control the power of the Sorceress. It had completely taken over her, putting those around her in danger. When the time came to make a decision about what to do with Rinoa, Squall reluctantly put in the order for the SeeDs to have her killed, with Rinoa’s blessing. It was the only way to protect everyone, as Rinoa had become a rightful threat to the world as a new Sorceress.
Five years later…
Squall never quite recovered after that. He went right back to the way he was before he met Rinoa: closed off, quiet, and alone. He’d refused to seek solace and comfort from any of his other friends who still remained at Balamb Garden, long after Rinoa’s execution. The stoic Commander became more and more harsh each day, trying to forget the memory of his dead girlfriend.
Even when he was trying to take a vacation from Garden, he couldn’t shake the memory of her off. General Fury Caraway never forgave Squall for making the decision to execute his only daughter. Though Squall entered Deling City from time to time on missions and international diplomatic meetings, he was no longer welcome into Caraway mansion.
His friends believe that it would be good for him to get out of Garden and see the world. Being a Commander gave him a lot of responsibility he wasn’t quite ready for, yet he kept the job anyway. Though lately, something has been tugging at him to get out. He contacts his father from time to time, but rarely ever visits him as he’s pushed his father away as well.
Enter one Quistis Trepe. After Time Compression, she hadn’t been restored to her status as an Instructor. With SeeD as her life, she had nothing else to do. Fed up with not having anything meaningful to do with her life, she left Balamb Garden to go live somewhere as far away from Garden association as possible.
Not having anywhere to turn to, she made the decision to stay with Seifer Almasy. He enticed her with promises of a “better life” than having to follow orders from a militaristic organization. So to do something that wasn’t in her usual demeanor, she became Seifer’s girlfriend.
Quistis never got her fairy tale, either. Instead, she stepped into a veritable underworld of drugs, crime, and abuse. Seifer’s promise of a better life had Quistis hoping for more, but she’d only entered into a nightmare. Bruised and battered inside, she wonders how much more she could take. No longer hoping for a savior, she loses faith in life.
