Looking for a few good souls >3
I'm up for starting/plotting/running a post-apoc if I can drum up the support for it -
I'll need at least five players (sans myself, of course - I'll be playing NPC's and the environment!) who have good to above-average grammar! I'll build the game world around plots suggested by the players and get around to the rigmarole of GM'ing once people actually show interest. PM me with your ideas or reply to this thread, please. Thank you for your time! |
I'd definitely be interested in this. Were you going for a city setting or a more rural setting? |
That depends entirely on the suggestions I get from the players - I could do both but I think city might be easier for players just in terms of resources they could use.
It could certainly make for a more interesting game, I think. |
Sounds almost like I Am Legend. XD
Why? No idea... Just felt like throwing it out there. That was set in NYC, which it always a fun place to try and survive in. Lol |
I would like to join. As far as what a plot could consist of I do not really feel decisive at the moment. Sounds like this is more of a modern time setting which is just fine for me. The real thing I am wondering about is will this role-play is will it have more of a horror twist on it as well? I'm all for that I am just wondering.
NYC sounds good to me and as far as rural places go I could do that too (but I think I would prefer more of a NYC setting). Zombies are good though I would say not the slow shuffling kind. Something like fall out would work too and for people who do not know what fall out is it takes place many years after a nuclear war and has more of a futuristic twist to it. Well sorry about the post my mind is kind of scattered at the moment, I just woke up thirty minutes ago ha. |
Fallout is so fun. So are zombies. ;D But zombies or no, matter the case, I think a city setting would be fun too. Hmm. I guess a major point to discuss would also be the typical "when did the appocalypse happen?". I mean, did it JUST happen? Or did it happen like a year or so ago, three years ago... one hunderd years ago? |
Fallout Rp, I'm in if it will happen.
Although since it will be many years in the future, most records would be gone I would think. I mean my play-threw of fallout I did not really care what happened to the world. I Thing a survivor would think the same way for the most part. They would be born into it after all. So the world in ruins would be all they really know. But for time setting I would say around the same time the games takes place. Just so we can have that basis of where technology is and such. |
I personally liket the idea of it being a few years later. Perhaps some people were hidden underground for a while and they just recently came out of hiding. And maybe instead zomibes, it could be mutated man? Like the radiation blast altered their DNA, which altered their appearance and personality?
Just some more thoughts. =] ((also, ignore the spelling mistakes... I,m using my iPad so it's a little tricky to type. ^^; )) |
Okay - that's four of five so far! If I need to I can certainly tailor a game to four players ^^
Now, from your suggestions, here's what I've got so far: The setting will be a large, relatively modern metropolis for some fifty to two hundred years from the time of the Event. The Events suggested so far have been Nuclear Holocaust, X Virus (zombies) and my personal throw-in is Tech Collapse. Now, the timeframe is going to be very important to player psychology, as Nee, Wav and Lash have suggested - if it's fifty years, there's still a generation that remembers the Old Times. Any more than that and you're pushing that factor, really. The more distant the setting time from the Event Time the more it becomes 'The Way Things Are.' Isaac - I could certainly put a few Horror Twists into the game for your sake ;D Also just my own opinion, I would much rather not run a 'Fallout' RP - I will make sure that there are plenty of things for characters to do and resources for them, but if I'm outvoted, then so be it. :3 So, spoons for discussion: Tech Collapse, Nuclear Holocaust or Zombie/creature virus? Timeframe from Event to setting, your preferences? I'll set the tech level and start on the other admin stuff once you've all decided what kind of game you want to play. :3 |
I'll play. Sounds like fun. :)
|
That's five of five! Sweet, feel free to throw your opinion in on the spoons mentioned above ^^
|
I say a tech collapse. With 50 years passed. I think theres too much zombie/creature stuff out there. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Vampire story, but sometimes it's hard to do in a RP. And with so many different types of zombie/creature stories out there it's hard to actually keep up with what they're weak against. And what their strengths are.
|
The RP slots have been opened to six - this is the final count. I will accept no more players after this.
|
I'm in! It sounds interesting already.
I agree with PhoenixNeko; a tech collapse RP is certainly something that I haven't thought of or seen anyone RPing in. Just throwing some ideas into the mix, maybe there can be something with animals dominating human beings... Because we had technology, we were technically more advanced than animals or other creatures that didn't have our higher intelligence (dunno if I should put 'higher' in quotes or not xD). But now that we don't or wouldn't have technology, they have the upper hand, and therefore can easily take advantage of us... I think that would require them to be intelligent enough to enslave us like we enslaved other fellow human beings... Kind of like Planet of the Apes. If that makes sense? |
I think there should be all three xD I mean it could happen lol. Don't run a fallout RP if you do not want to! I want to role-play in something that you would be interested in.
I think a world that has suffered a nuclear war, which caused a tech collapse, and then had a zombie outbreak (however small that may be, be it they exist but are not considered a main threat maybe holding a small pack mentality). Just throwing that out there. Also in line with what Wavikz was saying radiation could easily explain the existence of zombies. If I had to choose just one idea I would have to go with... nuclear fall out i guess? Which would have happened approximatively 300 years from out current time. And the fall out being an event that occurred 200 years or so before. My second pick would be tech collapse with third being zombies. To tell the truth I am impartial for the most part :]. |
I'm not sure whether you understand what I meant when I said tech collapse - In a tech collapse, some vital technology required for civilization as it is known to the game either disappears, stops working or becomes nonviable due to some other means. Nuclear holocaust requires a large amount of 'wasteland' from the fallout, pretty much by definition - With a Tech Collapse you would see that the vestiges of the old civ are still there but are for whatever reason not viable or 'broken' for whatever reason.
To have a Tech Collapse as the Event by itself would negate any possibility of some catastrophic nuclear war scenario. ^^ Naturally, a nuclear war would indeed cause a tech collapse of its own, but because of the massive casualty count and the fact that they are by nature so very destructive, and not because the tech itself was no longer available to sustain civilization. |
Well anything that is picked I will go along with. :]. Thanks for the explanation.
|
<3! Absolutely no problem. xD I wasn't sure I was entirely clear and since I hadn't seen it done before I kinda needed to define it anyway :3

At first I thought it was like the Terminator and now it's sounds somewhat like i, Robot. If that's the case, what style of collapse would have happened?
Would it be that the robots (for lack of better words) rebelled and have forced humans to live in fear? Would the robots control the world and the people want to regain their place by fighting back? (Obviously Terminator/i, Robot style.) Or is it that the humans became too dependent on the technology and when a virus hit and took everything out, things just continued to go downhill? And, if it was a virus, would it have been the robots or terrorists? (Sorry, I'm thinking of the book Break Point now). And, if you were to rope all three topics together, it could always be that a once technically advanced civilization is now rising from the fallout's ashes. With humans coming back to the surface, the robots (again, I'm not sure what to call the technology) also awaken. Noticing how the humans destroyed their world the first time, the robots are deciding that the human race needs to be eliminated. In other words, it's post-fallout and post-tech collapse. Right now I'm envisioning Terminator Salvation where the planet is all ruins and destroyed remains of a once great society. But idk, if we want to steer clear of nukes and stuff, then we can always hash out a tech-collapse. But I think we'll need more information and a general idea of where the story would go. ---------- Btw, I'm getting 7 interested users: Kymma, Nee, Wavikz, Isaac Levis, BLACKllASH, PhoenixNeko, and AnniMahffins. |
What if it was a virus, (if tech-collapse is chosen) and it all started from some random hacker who was trying to cover his tracks, when he acidently hacked into a federal computer system.
|
Wav, I'm not a player - I'm going to be running the plot and not an active participant ^^
I doubt it has anything to do with robots, but it certainly could. I've got an idea in mind for all three but I'm not going to share them just yet - I'm sure you'd rather not know exactly what you're going to get! Once I see enough votes to design a game one way or the other I'll post the thread and send everyone the link in their PM's. So far I have three Tech Collapse, one Nuclear holocaust and two undecided votes - my own opinion notwithstanding. In case of a tie, I'll flip a coin. |
I'm in if you still have spots available... I love post-apoc, and tech collapse is always interesting, that would be my vote. I'm writing a post-apoc tech collapse novel at the moment actually, lol, and I've role-played that sort of setting a few times in the past.
|
Currently all spots are full but I'm going to be sending out a PM tonight to the players. Anyone who does not reply within twenty four hours will lose their spot. I'm very sorry to be saying this, but it's the way it's apparently got to be - I have interest and I will not let it wane because a few people decided to disappear on me.
Quills - If there is an open spot, you'll be the first to know. Remember - I still lack two votes from current members. If I do not get those votes within the next twenty four hours, the game will be set as Tech Collapse. |
Okies! I'll be waiting in the wings if you need me! *bows and swishes cape dramatically*
